About Cordren Merdekin

Physical description:
Cordren is thin for a dwarf. He is growing older, though his hair and beard are graying a bit sooner than normal. His hair is long and bushy, and his face sports a huge white handlebar moustache and a short beard. He wears round, wire-rimmed spectacles on his crooked nose. His dress tends to be simple yet elegant, a holdover from his younger days as a medical doctor.

Background:
Cordren grew up in the dusty brown hills of his homeland, where hill giants were a particular problem. He entered into the field of medical care at a young age, where he studied under priests and priestesses of Pharasma. When the situation with the hill giants took a turn for the worst and his clan went to war with them, he enlisted in the army as a battlefield medic. Over the course of the next two years, Cordren watched as his friends and fellow soldiers were injured or killed, and he patched them up without so much as a tear. This had a profound impact on him, however, and it wasn't until the war was over and nearly 70% of his clansmen were dead that he realized how disturbed he was by these events. Eventually the dwarves were victorious, but at a miserable cost, and the clan was never the same. Cordren, feeling hollow and lost, decided to dedicate himself wholly to the service of Pharasma's temple, where he eventually left his home to wander in search of a way to cope with his losses. His patron as his guide, Cordren seeks to undue the twisted knot of his understanding of life and death.
