Actually, I'll take a chance and prepare speak with animals twice, so I can come to a better understanding with the goblin dog. It really needs a name, which means I need to figure gender it is...
I see a tiny railroad in front of us... Can PrettyKill eat the new guys?
Stretching as he wakes up, Corath settles into his daily trance. He remembers the sensation of running through a forest, of hunting to supply the caravan with dinner, of laying in the shade of a tree next to PrettyKill. He holds holly in one hand and mistletoe in the other while he goes through his trance, and the scent of an open plain wafts gently around him.
[ooc]Dropped Shillelagh and put Speak with Animals in it's place. Who can use the Spider Climb scrolls now that Ar'deth is no longer with us?[/i]
"Hmm, I didn't catch that in her response. What have you learned of this location you seek? I have to wonder if we seek the same place for different reasons."
"Maybe I am just being paranoid..."
"We think it may be a temple to Aroden. It was seen by fishermen down at the bottom of a sea cliff. We were sent to see if it is indeed a lost temple of Aroden. Such a place would be fascinating to see, and the wildlife that could be living in there now..." He trails off at the thought.
"I don't seek glory, it leads to pride and vanity, something that could get me killed in the wild. As for the place we seek, it's is called the Mirrored Sanctum and is supposed to be a temple of Aroden."
He pauses, then continues.
"It almost sounded like the Abbess knew something about it."
"Martine and I were down in the stables, caring for the animals and trying to think of a name for my newest companion. I had gone into the stall to pet it, when I felt an arrow fly into my back. I turned to see Martine nocking another arrow, with her eyes glazed over. Based on her eyes and her description of what happened later, I believe she was magically compelled to attack me. She also mentioned her 'Masters' not wanting us to get to the Mirrored Sanctum. Rufus and I managed to knock her out, and then ran to join the others."
Corath takes a deep breath and realizes Prettykill is in the room(or the hall if there is no room).
"I'm sorry, I did not think to have her stay in the stables. I'm used to having her nearby, both for her protection and my comfort."
"Not at all. Assassination attempts have been made against us. My group was sent to look for something, and it seems someone does not want us to find it, even going so far as controlling others with magic."
Corath steps into the stall to untie Martine, offering what little comfort he can. It's harder trying to calm down something without fangs, fur, scales, or claws though...
"It's okay, you couldn't help it anymore than I could help PrettyKill learn to eat with a fork."
"You know, if there wasn't blood trickling down my back from her arrow, I'd feel bad for the precaution's we took."
He moves over to the goblin dog's stall, checking to make sure it is okay. He has to take PrettyKill along too, because she is looking at Martine lying there helpless, and he does not like the look in her eyes.
Soothing and calming tones shall ensue if it is still there.
"Aye, let's go then. We can take care of any others we encounter on the way." He plaves a hand on PrettyKill's side as he leads her out, leaning in to whisper to her.
"Come on my friend, we need to make sure are newest companion it okay."
Corath, not really seeing what Therin means, raises his hand and says something that reminds everyone of heat lightning. A burst of light appears before the creature, just bright enough to possibly distract it.
Corath nods his agreement as he puts martine in an empty stall and locks. He sets off at a run to catch up with Rufus, PrettyKill not far behind. As he runs, he straps his shield onto his arm and readies himself for spell casting, should the need arise.
It was smack talk. "Well, that was unexpected. Rufus, do have any rope we can use to tie her up? I'd rather make sure she isn't a threat when she wakes up. Are you hurt?"
Taking out the goblin wand, he begins to heal PrettyKill and himself.
"Don't kill her, she's being controlled by someone else!"
Corath then charges her, swinging his club with both hands a bit akwardly as he aims to subdue instead of kill.
Club Charge:1d20 + 4 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 - 4 = 12-4 is for attempting a non-lethal attack. Damage:1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
He then tells PrettyKill the command for down, and she moves behind him.5ft step to move away from Martine, possibly behind Corath. If Corath cannot charge, the attack roll is 2 points lower.
Corath cries out in pain as the arrow slams through an opening in his armor. He places a hand over the wound so Nature's Healing can take place, green fire pushing the arrow out and burning the wound to stop the bleeding.
Cure Light Wounds:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"This is why I prefer animals over people, they at least will give a warning when they attack you from behind. PrettyKill, bite!"
PrettyKill runs at Martine, teeth flashing, and snaps at the small creature that hurt her friend.
"You would think goblins would at least treat the creatures named after them better. The goblin leading the ones that attacked us was riding her, and had her carrying heavy saddlebags too."
He moves closer and kneels, extending his hand for her to sniff.
"She is different from other dogs, yet I have no reason to see her as anything but a four legged friend. All she needs is good food, a bath, and a name."
Slowly, so he does not startle her, he extends a hand to scrath her gently behind the ears.
Corath looks between the others and his companions, and realizes he may very well be out of his element. The half-orc using a different word for "talking" does not help, and neither does the fact he is in a room filled with trees he doesn't beleive were dead when they were turned into books.
"It was nice to meet both you, and I hope you have luck in your research. But I need to go make sure one of my other companions did not decide a horse looked like something good to eat."
He leaves the library and exits the abbey, letting out an audible sigh once he's outside. He slips into the stable and greets Martine, scratching PrettyKill under her chin and behind her eye ridges, talking softly as he does so.
"You didn't eat any of the other animals did you? Good girl!"
Once he has greeted PrettyKill to her satisfaction, he turns to Martine.
"I apologize for not saying I was a Pathfinder, but I feared you would have treated me differently, had you known my occupation. Many people cannot look far enough past my heritage to learn who I really am."
With a graceful sweeping gesture of his long arm toward the scrolls and tomes spread about on the table before him, Lamsfel replies, "In the midst of one, of sorts. I have an interest in the history of the area and we are taking the opportunity to see what the Abbey's library might yield on the subject. May I ask the same of you?"
"Just doing a friend a favor. The least I could do after his compliments for Prettykill."

Martine looks surprised. "You are Pathfinders as well?" she asks, blinking at the group.
Oh shards, orc-half showing...
Corath grimaces. "Guess my secret's out, huh? I can't speak for the others, but I am."
"I agree with Ar'deth on this. It's good to see fellow pathfinders. If you don't mind my asking, are you returning from an assignment or heading to one?"
"I hope it can be resolved peacefully. This place seems to nice to be marred by conflict. I'd ask what is happening, if only to learn if I may help in anyway, but I think it is none of my business."
Martine looks taken aback, and she blushes slightly, but stammers, "No, no... I just meant... I mean, it seems weird to me that you would want to try to take care of an animal that you're allergic to, that's all."
Corath sighs.
"I am sorry, I should not have let my temper cloud my mind. I misunderstood what you meant. Yes, despite the allergy I will suffer, I will keep it."
Martine is also watching the interaction between Emeri and the Masked Abbess, and she winces. "That... might be a good idea. In fact, why don't I show your friend to the library too? I suspect it would be a good thing if we all found other places to be right now." She suddenly starts, and looks up at Corath in surprise. "Wait... you're keeping the goblin dog?"
He voice stays soft, but there is a hint of anger sneaking in before he finishes.
"What would you have me do with it? Despite the fact it's last caretaker was a goblin, it may be too domesticated to survive in the wild. I refuse to adandon an animal because others do not like it's kind. I know what that is like, and I'll not treat an animal the same way I was treated!"
Sounds like it is time for a bluff check my man Corath. Oh No!
I have yet to lie. We are being sent to see if it is a temple of Aroden, correct? So, if stuff is there that has no connection to Aroden, we will be required to tell our 'friend'.
"My skill in creation? Might as well ask about my skills in destruction. Two sides, same coin, and every time one flips, the other shows its sparkling little head."
Looks like Ar'deth isn't the only follower of Nethys here...

"Oh?" replies Martine, in an approving tone. "What sort of favor, if I might ask?"
"Nothing really, he just wants us to look at a area and tell us if there is anything that shouldn't be there."
