Spoiler:
Coraline has a stupor induced revulsion she has to deal with every minute she’s awake. An orphan many times over, Coraline does not, and chooses not to remember much of her waking moments. It’s not the uncaring orphanages in Korvosa, nor the rough streets of Absalom, nor is it the bitter cold plains in the wastes of Varisa that she braved, nor being spat at in the slums of Katapesh, nor even pretending to be a young boy just to scrape a foul living among the pirates of Riddleport; it’s none of that. What Coraline fears and keeps herself returning time and again to the bottle is something else. For all the pain she see's in her moments of lucidity, Coraline remains awake as long as possible because the visions she sees in her Dreams are far worse. She deals with it every time she closes here eyes to drift of in restless sleep or fitful reverie. A repetitive Dream has plauged the half elf since childhood, wherein a six winged Seraph is tormented by a loathsome fiend nefarious. In this Dream, one that no child should have had to bare nor no sane man could, the anguish inflicted on the Angel is all too real, and has not faded through the years. The only time she can sleep deeply is when she drinks, and drinks heavily. Ale, Dwarven beer, feywine, Gnomish ambrosia, Chelaxian Amber, goblin grog, moonshine, Andoran bourbon, Linnorm pale, port, spirits, bugbear rotgut and everything in between. Liquid courage. Just for a few moments of blissful sleep. (to be continued) War Dog
Spoiler:
Barley Rye: Riding Dog advanced to 7 HD Size/Type: Medium Animal (130 lbs.)
Special Tricks: a. Women and Ale First When Coraline gives the battle cry 'save the rum and ale' (be it a roaring boast or a whisper), Barley Rye goes for trip attacks with her master. b. Drunkard's Best Friend Whenever Coraline says 'bad wine' and nods, Barley Rye plays 'dead' and can remain doing so until attacked or is told 'now this one is from a better year'. c. Yummy When Coraline says this and points, Barley Rye goes for ye old bite attack. |
