I've done some hunting around and don't see this FAQd or in any post by a Paizo Developer, so asking here.

Does Arcanist count as a spontaneous caster for the purpose of items like the Mnemonic Vestment? It's annoying and frustrating being in the position where the whole thing hinges on how the GM interprets the word known vs the language in the Arcanist Spells class feature.

Mnemonic Vestment wrote:
If the wearer is a spontaneous caster, once per day she may use a spell slot to cast a spell from a written source (such as a scroll or spellbook) as if she knew that spell. The spell must be on her spell list, the same spell level or lower than the expended spell slot, and the same type of spell (arcane or divine) as the spell slot expended.
Arcanist wrote:
An arcanist may know any number of spells, but the number she can prepare each day is limited.

A Tier 5-9 Evergreen

I second season nine being deep space 9 split equally between Starfinder and normal PFS. All normal PFS scenarios will be scripted to run on the holodeck of Absalom station.

a sixth GM star will become available, but it will involve single combat with the winner being named Campaign assistant for life.

the combat should be public -stage a marathon gaming session at an elevated table in the middle of the Sagamore and stream the whole thing on twitch. Longest survivor gets the medal on Sunday of GenCon

If you want, you can reduce the amount of gold for a single book to 1500 and apply it to a 1st level character.

Dark Archive **

Pathfinder Companion, PFS RPG, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

What's going to happen with Starfinder at GenCon? Even if it's not an organized play thing, it seems the sort of thing that should be part of the Paizo presence - I know I'm looking to spend some time playing however I can.

Dark Archive **

Pathfinder Companion, PFS RPG, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

At this point, GM stars effectively renew every season with minimum effort. That seems more than sufficient for 99% of players given there are new scenarios every month.

Razmirian Priest Wildblooded Sorcerer Extraordinaire, Bellamin Tarmikos has reached level 12. Please congratulate him at the soiree in his honor, which may or may not be held in Madame Dralneen's quarters. Though sadly he lost his wolf Fluffy III in his final encounter to vicious looks from 6 Hounds of Tindalos, he knows that they were only jealous of his beauty and grace. Fluffy IV is already in training for Eyes.

While I'm asking about spells - if you could get ONE damage spell at 3rd level for PFS, what would it be? Lightning Bolt? Fireball? Assume no meta-magic feats would be applied... the build has some trip-heavy elements so would Ice Spears be a good option?

Haste. Will do as much in the first round or two as any nuke and lasts for 5-6 when you get it.

Thanks, I was looking in the ARG for some reason after reading that post and getting very confused when I was unable to find the rules you were referring to, so A+ for me in reading comprehension... Inner Sea Race Guide <> Advanced Race Guide...

Tonya, can we get some PFS clarification on alternate Dhampir bloodlines? There was a developer post http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2qfqj?Can-Something-Be-Done-About-Variant-Dhamp ir#34 but a PFS confirmation on this would be helpful, especially with Dhampir being this quarter's GM boon.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Companion, PFS RPG, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

With Dhampir being this quarter's GM boon in PFS and more people likely buying Blood of the Night, this is something that should be looked at for a correction beyond just a forum post.

The language on the PRD and the language in my Ult Equip (1st print) on Quick Runner's are the same - how was this snipped? It lets you spend your swift to get an extra move action to move.

IT's all roleplay if you're a fighter. The only "class" that really has a need to worship Razmir is the Razmirian sorcerer archtype.

Fairly sure there is nothing in the description of the Razmirian Priest that indicates that they need to worship Razmir - In any case, I would expect you can refluff as you see fit - My sorcerer was captured by them, learned their techniques and then escaped to pursue other pursuits that didn't involve hoodwinking a nation and follow his devotion to Desna.

Without that FAQ there's nothing to prevent every psycic caster from simply riding roughshod over every social encounter, or indeed, every encounter as they simply charm the pants off of a small town , point at the dunegon and go "ATTACK MY MINIONS!"

It might be stupid but its a very neccesary stupid. I

to be clear, charm person is not giving minions. At most it's making the diplomacy check a little easier. Giving it more utility is usually a misinterpretation of the spell.

What are you talking about with manifestations? And what is the point of taking out the main thing that psychic magic is really better at and really the only thing that differentiates it from arcane or divine?

The duergar captain is an NPC from the Monster Codex, so you might want to ask your question in the appropriate product/errata thread if the stat block looks funky. Good catch though.

I think it makes sense to go go with the minimum caster level of 11 for the dust ward spell.

The captain's to hit with his dwarven waraxe looks wrong as well.

Spoiler:
BAB 9 + Magic +2 + Str +4 + Wpn Focus/Grtr +2 + Wpn Training +2 = +19 to hit. Even if they go with power attacking, at BAB 9, he would be -3 so +16 to hit, and the damage is right for not power attacking. Can't go with Dazzled from light sensitivity either, as that's only a -1.

I'm prepping to run this in a couple of weeks at a small local convention - has anyone found the cleric's tactics coming into play -

Spoiler:
specifically the use of Death Knell. I don't recall running a scenario previously where the boss tactics had him/her killed unconscious PCs

He's not on the list because he's not a god and you can't get spells from him. That said, Razmian Priest is a legal Sorcerer archetype. I have an idea for a "Razmian Inquisitor" whose class is bard.

I would totally play the Razmirian Inquisitor - that sounds awesome! I have an 11th Razmirian Priest Sorcerer and it makes for a huge amount of versatility, not least of which is because I never use up my library of divine scrolls, so I only need one of each spell.

Yep. Same price hike here! I've been using them to print the large maps as well. Same or next day pick up is very convienent.

Side note: When I have two or more custom maps to print for a scenario I usually go with the 2 feet by 6 feet indoor banner and either cut them out or just roll ithe whole thing across the table. The indoor banner is a different material then posters, but it's $35 for the 2x6.

Nice to know, that's two full size maps and room for a smaller one as well. How's the paper quality for the banners?

Re: initiative, that's an aspect of the AI aggregate template used to make her. She's using the shade's Intelligence modifier, not the elemental's (superior) Dexterity.

Re: Diplomacy, while the Aggregate can't be "one-shotted" by Diplomacy before the fight, it can be used against her in battle. See the Aggregate's Sentimental weakness.

Hopefully that helps a bit - this is a complicated scenario, and the way it's laid out (particularly the Synthesis Core encounter) makes it even easier to miss things. ^_^

Thanks Isabelle. Looks like a fun scenario - looking forward to running it.

Prepping this to run next weekend, and noticed that the aggregate's initiative modifier seems to be wrong?

Spoiler:
26/30 Dex and improved init makes for a 12/14, rather than the +9 listed no?

Also, how have people found this scenario in terms of running time? Seems like a tough one for a party unable to deal with the haunts at all.

A lot of people have focused on what was removed.

The funny thing is, and I suspect this explains the bruises on the foreheads of Campaign Leadership, that people argued strongly that the Guide's word/page count be drastically reduced, so it wasn't such a daunting document for new players.

Forgetting that was the intention has caused a bit of an uproar, despite those removed items still being in existence somewhere.

[SARCASM]Well, the answer is simple, you obviously can't please everyone, so just please me :-) [/SARCASM]

The chronicle sheets for Maelstrom Rift and Serpent's Ire had level ranges listed, so I would start with those or reducing to level 1.

As far as actual play experience, I don't understand the trepidation around character death. It's part of the game, and is nothing more than a resource tax - you screwed up or got unlucky (greataxe crits in lvl 1 scenario grumble grumle), go pay 7k gold. In the event of a pregen, it's go pay 1k gold after selling off their gear. I put both chronicles on real characters, fully expecting to pay or retire if needed.

Just curious, I don't have the Serpent's Rise boon for Joliryn, but normally when you GM a game, you get to choose the boons you receive on your chronicle sheet. I ran Serpent's Ire at GenCon, so can I still get the modified ring?

Skinwalker gives basically unrestricted access to bat form (diminutive) with a feat, which is why I was considering it - I don't normally play non-casters.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Companion, PFS RPG, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I was wondering what to do with my skinwalker boon from GenCon - is this a viable thing in PFS? I have a GM blob I can put it on and push to lvl 4-5 before I actually play it. It seems kinda random/fun/cheesy as heck

Is there an ETA for when the reporting will be completed so we can raise concerns? I'm missing GM credit on my Sunday table of The Confirmation.

Ran this 3 times at GenCon. Had a near TPK with 4 unconscious out of a group of 6 level 1 characters in the final encounter.

Spoiler:
The mooks in the final encounter all have darkvision regardless of tier or of how anything else is ruled. Kagaze can see quite well into the light the party carries in, so studied and his bow can be very effective in the opening rounds until they close with him
Disease was only an issue in one of the three runs, with the lower tier tables making most of the saves and the one high tier table missing most of them.

I also only had one party not destroy the altar(the 1st level with multiple down), though all had casters of some flavor, so were able to see that the magic effect in the room originated from the altar.

My sorcerer is a Razmiran Priest and has a pet wolf, so I can cover some melee as well as a certain amount of divine casting. And we can also bring along an Uloch pregen to fill the table.

I just became the 4th, and have options:

Wizard 10 (if we want the challenge/fun of all arcane/energy group)
Cleric (archer) 9
Barbarian (with dip in Cleric of Kurgess) 9

(Unfortunately, my Duelist 11 is on reserve for the interactive.)

I'm up for a challange, but play what you want. I some wands that can be of use, but I have a 50/50 shot at activating them.

I can activate any wand you've got - one of the benefits of Cha class with UMD.

The Westin ballroom usually has events happening in it, so is not normally available. The Sheraton has had space previous years. I'm not sure about other hotels

Amazon map prices can be crazy. As printing goes these were easy to do, just by copying the picture out of the PDF into GIMP.

I use inkscape, but still pretty simple. Bonus since they both fit on one poster, so costs me less at staples.

Some of the hotels have tables available (I know the Sheraton does down in their basement) I'm staying at the Westin, not sure if there are tables there, but most hotels have a ballroom of some kind and they should be available as long as there are no events. There should be space in the convention hall if nowhere else.

If there are Wednesday evening game(s) happening, I'd love to play. I don't want to add another scenario to my prep so would prefer not to GM something new, though I can obviously run evergreens if needed. My flight is getting in around 4:30 - 5, so 6 or 7 start would be beautiful.
