I'd love to play on Sunday, but my flight out says it's not really possible...

As a player, I ask what the GM prefers, and will make a point of noting when my PC has a much higher init than the pet - my sorcerer with a +14 init I expect to go separately from his AC at +4. I can either issue a command that she will follow on her turn or have her delay to mine if she rolls well and I poorly.

As a GM, I follow a similar rule - if the inits are close, I run on the same one, if they are not, I run them separately.

Connecticon is this weekend in Hartford, CT, not listed.

One thing that did happen that I wasn't quite sure how to deal with, and probably didn't deal with well, is the players trying to handle the eels before the Galvos assemble. The scenario says they assemble one round after the door is opened. A party (even of 4) can do a lot in one round. The eels look like a swarm, and anti-swarm tactics really ought to work pretty well on it. One person summoned an aqueous orb. Fortunately for me, he didn't summon it right in the middle of the room (as the person who opened the door in the first place was already in there); if he had, I would have looked like the pathetic GM who says "your tactic doesn't work because I don't want it to!" when it didn't pretty much sweep out all the eels. Or, perhaps it should have worked. Guidance as to what to do in this situation would help. If they cleverly get rid of the eels with something like that before the galvo forms, perhaps that means that they've found a creative solution that allows them to avoid the galvo fight?

I'm prepping this to run this weekend, and the Galvo says it has swarm traits - I would rule that any anti-swarm actions taken by the party before it forms would remain in effect.

What is everyone using for shark minis? The Great White and Hammerhead from Skull & Shackles are both large. I need 6 medium size before this weekend. The only thing I can find that is remotely close are the lego sharks - my kids only have 2, I think - guess I'll order a few more unless anyone else has a better suggestion

Guess we'll just have to see what, if any, clarifying language is in the season 9 guide.

Dark Archive ***

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Is this really something that needs an explicit ruling? Seems like something that should be a quick, reasonable discussion at the table with the GM making a ruling if the players can't agree. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but if an actual ruling is made here, it makes it harder/more complicated for everyone as they have to then interpret that rule, instead of just do reasonable things and not be a jerk...

Thanks. Sorry if I am being a little dense right now.

As these are pickup games and not officially offered by GenCon, there will be no tickets.

Didn't James just say he was ticketing through GenCon?

James Risner wrote:
Gencon should be able to allocate space Wed for the games, so I'm making Gencon events $0 tickets for Wed. I'll post when they get published for you guys. But you should be able to find them by searching for Risner on wed games. This way I don't need to worry about sourcing and securing space for two days, just for Sunday.

James, I'd love to get in on a table of #7-23 Abducted in Aether. I can probably run if you don't have GMs set yet. I'd also be up to play or run #8-20 Torrent's Last Will.

The pre-con games at Scotty's are posted.

See this thread: Player Sign Ups Open for Pre GenCon 2017 August 16th!

Or go directly to the Warhorn sign-up site: Pre-Gen Con Pathfinder Society Play on WED August 16th

Yup, I'm signed up to play a table at Scotty's from 12:30 - 5. I was looking for something in the evening, say from 6 or 7-11ish.

Well, reporting my table yesterday put me over. Is it 61 now?

Dark Archive ***

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I don't see anything recent - I do most of my own reporting aside from conventions (nothing there since March) - still no star though, is that a weekly recount thing?

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

The whole new event page is also painfully slow in loading/navigation (~1 min to bring up the page and for each button click) and the buttons give no indication they are doing anything - i.e. I have no idea if my button click actually registered.
It's pretty, but a pain to navigate and use.

Dark Archive ***

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

As James said, there is no power, nor any way to get it there, i.e. you cannot bring an extension cord and run it to your table.

For electronic docs, I just bring my tablet and an external battery, and that is sufficient for the day, but that's just referencing PDFs, not an actual character sheet.

For character sheets, I print current level and next level sheets and run from that. If you are playing the same character all four days, you probably need 4 levels.

Last few years, there has been a HeroLab station in the Sagamore that will let you print - I've not used it, so don't know how they handle outside character sheets.

Dark Archive ***

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Last week I had 59, now I apparently have 60 - kind of anti-climatic way to get a star...

Or not, since I'm still showing with 2...

would love to be able to GM, but with my flight getting in at 11:15, even a slight delay would mean I won't get there in time. Do you know when you plan to open to players signing up?

I generally follow the Inkscape process in the link above. I just grab the image from the pdf, create a grid @1 in x 1 in and resize, then do the bitmap tracing - it does really make a difference.

Dark Archive ***

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I use engineering prints at staples as well and they look great as long as you have a good image going in. I have a text tutorial I got my info from, and can post a link once I am home.

For something like confirmation, probably worth getting the map laminated as it's one you will use multiple times.

Okay, I'm a *little* confused on this, and am requesting clarification.

The Dealer Hall is open 10AM-6PM on Thursday, but the Starfinder events being offered on Thursday (all day) would seem to preclude a visit to the Dealer Hall.

How is this being accounted for, when typical Thursday 'first release lines' can run upwards of 3-4 hours?

Apologies in advance if this seems a misguided or befuddled question.

You can order the PDF, which will be available on Thurs of GenCon, or get someone with early dealer hall access to get it for you before the lines happen.

I've done some hunting around and don't see this FAQd or in any post by a Paizo Developer, so asking here.

Does Arcanist count as a spontaneous caster for the purpose of items like the Mnemonic Vestment? It's annoying and frustrating being in the position where the whole thing hinges on how the GM interprets the word known vs the language in the Arcanist Spells class feature.

Mnemonic Vestment wrote:
If the wearer is a spontaneous caster, once per day she may use a spell slot to cast a spell from a written source (such as a scroll or spellbook) as if she knew that spell. The spell must be on her spell list, the same spell level or lower than the expended spell slot, and the same type of spell (arcane or divine) as the spell slot expended.
Arcanist wrote:

A Tier 5-9 Evergreen

I second season nine being deep space 9 split equally between Starfinder and normal PFS. All normal PFS scenarios will be scripted to run on the holodeck of Absalom station.

a sixth GM star will become available, but it will involve single combat with the winner being named Campaign assistant for life.

the combat should be public -stage a marathon gaming session at an elevated table in the middle of the Sagamore and stream the whole thing on twitch. Longest survivor gets the medal on Sunday of GenCon

If you want, you can reduce the amount of gold for a single book to 1500 and apply it to a 1st level character.

What's going to happen with Starfinder at GenCon? Even if it's not an organized play thing, it seems the sort of thing that should be part of the Paizo presence - I know I'm looking to spend some time playing however I can.

At this point, GM stars effectively renew every season with minimum effort. That seems more than sufficient for 99% of players given there are new scenarios every month.

Razmirian Priest Wildblooded Sorcerer Extraordinaire, Bellamin Tarmikos has reached level 12. Please congratulate him at the soiree in his honor, which may or may not be held in Madame Dralneen's quarters. Though sadly he lost his wolf Fluffy III in his final encounter to vicious looks from 6 Hounds of Tindalos, he knows that they were only jealous of his beauty and grace. Fluffy IV is already in training for Eyes.

Tonya, can we get some PFS clarification on alternate Dhampir bloodlines? There was a developer post http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2qfqj?Can-Something-Be-Done-About-Variant-Dhamp ir#34 but a PFS confirmation on this would be helpful, especially with Dhampir being this quarter's GM boon.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Companion, Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

With Dhampir being this quarter's GM boon in PFS and more people likely buying Blood of the Night, this is something that should be looked at for a correction beyond just a forum post.

Fairly sure there is nothing in the description of the Razmirian Priest that indicates that they need to worship Razmir - In any case, I would expect you can refluff as you see fit - My sorcerer was captured by them, learned their techniques and then escaped to pursue other pursuits that didn't involve hoodwinking a nation and follow his devotion to Desna.

to be clear, charm person is not giving minions. At most it's making the diplomacy check a little easier. Giving it more utility is usually a misinterpretation of the spell.

What are you talking about with manifestations? And what is the point of taking out the main thing that psychic magic is really better at and really the only thing that differentiates it from arcane or divine?

The duergar captain is an NPC from the Monster Codex, so you might want to ask your question in the appropriate product/errata thread if the stat block looks funky. Good catch though.

I think it makes sense to go go with the minimum caster level of 11 for the dust ward spell.

The captain's to hit with his dwarven waraxe looks wrong as well.

Spoiler:
BAB 9 + Magic +2 + Str +4 + Wpn Focus/Grtr +2 + Wpn Training +2 = +19 to hit. Even if they go with power attacking, at BAB 9, he would be -3 so +16 to hit, and the damage is right for not power attacking. Can't go with Dazzled from light sensitivity either, as that's only a -1.

I'm prepping to run this in a couple of weeks at a small local convention - has anyone found the cleric's tactics coming into play -

Spoiler:
specifically the use of Death Knell. I don't recall running a scenario previously where the boss tactics had him/her killed unconscious PCs

He's not on the list because he's not a god and you can't get spells from him. That said, Razmian Priest is a legal Sorcerer archetype. I have an idea for a "Razmian Inquisitor" whose class is bard.

I would totally play the Razmirian Inquisitor - that sounds awesome! I have an 11th Razmirian Priest Sorcerer and it makes for a huge amount of versatility, not least of which is because I never use up my library of divine scrolls, so I only need one of each spell.
