We should have a coffee sometime if you are around the UofO. We're both in the same town, right? We need to talk about getting pathfinder society happening here.

Agreed, I think I still have your e-mail address, I'll shoot you an e-mail once I get Internet again... right now I rely on UofO Library PCs when I'm not at work, heh. But yes, we definitely need to get some PFS in this year.

Thanks for the awesome PbP, all! Tarren, I will totally take you up on your offer to be in your next PbP, this was certainly good times! And to everyone else, good luck getting out of this situation, hopefully Chuol slows down the creature enough for the rest of you to escape! I will be watching from the sidelines, cheering y'all on!

Oh, and if another characters needs to appear at some point, I'm totally in. :)

Chuol (Male Human (Mwangi) Paladin 4)

Holding his trident in the creature, in the midst of this battle and seeing his doom approach, Chuol cannot help but smile. He knows that the visions - the visions that got him exiled from his tribe, the visions that led him to this boat, the visions promising him that there were wrongs to be righted - are at an end. This was his purpose. Delaying this creature, so that the other travellers can do what is right at journey's end.

As the creature's claws approach him, he closes his eyes. And he thinks that for the first time in five years, he will see his brother again.

Thus ends the story of Chuol Lungh, the Brave.

Actually Chuol, I am not sure whether you and I are going to be able to go at all this round before they go again. That first attack may have been their surprise round (so it may be up to Keliwyn, Baas, and Ixius). Tarren, please tell me they have gone this round and we all get to react. Pleeeeeeeaaase. :)

Yeah, I think you're right, but my actions will most likely not change, regardless of who goes first. That is, assuming that Chuol survives to his Iniatiave count. :)

ROUND 4

Already feeling the pain from the ape-creature's first rake with its claws, Chuol's rational mind tells him to run, and run fast. He realizes that the creature's four claws spell doom, and even if he survives those, there's the small matter of the archers surrounding him, but he stands firm nonetheless, thinking that at the very least he can hold back the creature long enough to distract it from his allies, and perhaps even strike a telling blow.

With all his might, he strikes into the creature, hoping to at least make it think twice about striking again.

Chuol attacks with power attack. It's probably not evil, but hey, if it is, that extra attack + damage would be welcome. So that's a +5 to attack and 1d8+7 damage if he hits. Can someone roll this for me?

It was nice knowing you, guys! ;)

Chuol (Male Human (Mwangi) Paladin 4)

Thousand Bones

Chuol nods to Ixius. He then proceeds to march closer to the elf and attempts to knock him unconscious with the blunt side of his trident.

I have no access to Internet outside of work, which won't allow me to roll using Invisible Castle. Can someone else roll these attacks and (hopefully) damage rolls for me? Attempting to deal nonlethal damage with a trident, Chuol should have an attack bonus of +4 total, and would deal 1d8+4 nonlethal damage.

Chuol (Male Human (Mwangi) Paladin 4)

Thousand Bones

Chuol will continue marching forward, shield held ready, hopefully getting close enough to engage the enemy soon. "Stay behind me, Ixius!"

Chuol will move another 30', and use total defense again, seeing as he can't make it to an elf with a charge action this turn. AC is again 22 until next round.

Initiative (1d20+1=10, 1d20+1=11, 1d20+1=9, 1d20+1=9)

Chuol hisses at the pain emanating from the arrow lodged into his skin, and begins marching slowly forward, shield held at the ready in order to hopefully rebuff the next volley of arrows. He is continually looking at the buildings around him, hoping to find the source of the deadly arrows.

Chuol will take Total Defense as a Standard Action (current AC becomes 22) and move 30ft. along the bridge as a Move Action. Hopefully he'll see something now that he's a bit closer.

Perception: (1d20+1=19)

NOTE: I will be moving for the rest of the day, and I will not have Internet at my new place for just over a week, which means I will be limited to updating during work hours and at Internet cafés. It (hopefully) will not slow me down too much, but if you really need to, feel free to play Chuol. Most likely, he will attempt to power attack/smite the first creature he encounters and continue doing so until it is dead.

For Tarren:

Spoiler:
Good question, what would Chuol know about the jungle elves? I always figured he was from a deep section of the Mwangi, not necessarily near Bloodcove, but maybe he's heard a bit about them?

Chuol (Male Human (Mwangi) Paladin 4)

Sorry I've been quiet lately, I went up north for the weekend. As for Chuol, he will continue to do the work required of him, but with his free time, will generally sit alone, contemplating the recent occurrences.

"Den we'd best be wary. Dis seems to me like dese jungle elves wanted to send a message. We don't want to fall into dere traps." Chuol will try to go back to work as normal, but will do his best to keep a sharp eye out for any trouble.

At the mention of a greater purpose, Chuol stands up straight. "Yes, fren. I tink we are here for a purpose. At least, I see we are doing the right ting. I have seen visions of great evil on dis river. We are here to cleanse it."

Chuol gestures to Sykala. "I do not know of dis Gozreh you speak of. But someting is bringing us all togedder. My visions tell me so."

Chuol smiles. "Dis be my home. I was born here, and will live here as long as I am able. As dangerous as the Mwangi may be, I will be a part of it until I die. You are right in what you say. De danger of de jungle allows one to grow strong, it is how my tribe has survived for so long."

Ixius wrote:

"I didn't come here by choice. I was shipwrecked on the coast north of here and made my way to Bloodcove. I am on this boat to be among my friends and because I have nowhere else to go. At first it was about the gold, but I don't care about that now."

"Chuol, you look like you are from the jungle. Is that so?"

He then turns to Ixius and replies: "Yes, as I was saying to our friend, here, I was born in de heart of Mother Mwangi. I lived with my tribe... well... my old tribe for many years, and learned to appreciate de jungle. But I was led to Bloodcove and our friend Esteban in order to do... someting. I am not sure what, yet."

With that Chuol laughs heartily and claps Ixius on the back: "Do not fear, my friend! If you seek to return home, Chuol will help you once dis trip is done, in whatever way he can."

Casually catching wind of some of the conversations on deck, Chuol stops working for a moment and asks: "You all coming from far far away; places dat Chuol will never see. What is it dat brought you to Mwangi? Why come to such a dangerous jungle?"

Chuol (Male Human (Mwangi) Paladin 4)

Chuol will raise his spear in the air and whisper a few short words of thanks in Mwangi in order to properly send off the deceased crewmembers.

Afterwards, he will look to see how injured his companions are and help Fippin with any healing required.

First however, he takes a moment to heal himself, closing his eyes and concentrating as his wounds slowly disappear.

Chuol uses 16 poins of Lay on Hands on himself, bringing himself back to full hp, and on top of that, he has 4hp of lay on hands and 4d6hp using positive energy to heal anyone on the ship near him.

Although he spends the first five days largely incapacitated in the cabin, once he is feeling better he can be found all over the place, wandering the boat and speaking with everyone. He spends some time with Ixius, discussing bowmaking and archery, and can also be found on the bow, watching the scenery go bye.

If necessary, Chuol will expend uses of Channel Positive Energy in order to keep the crew in the positives as well, totally 4d6 healing per day.

Chuol swelters in the heat, but being somewhat accustomed to it, does not complain so much. He continues minding his tasks. Upon seeing the pain Keliwyn is going through, he gives special attention to the elf.

A tall deckhand stops loading for a moment, and, dipping his waterskin into the barrel as well, stops to take a drink from the blessed water.

The deckhand looks to be a local, with dark skin and some local knicknacks as accoutrements, such as a necklace made of small animal bones. He wears a light shirt of hide, but is otherwise dressed minimally in order to deal with the extreme heat. He carries a shield and spear strapped to his back, which both sport many painted tribal symbols.

He speaks aloud in broken Common: "Thank you, fren', for blessing dis ship. I feel more safe for dis journey. I be pleased to meet you, Fippin. I be called Chuol by my tribe." He turns to the other travellers. "I be pleased to see many warriors join us on de trip down dis dangerous river.
