Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

Chalen crumples to the ground in a heap.

That’s certainly never happened before.; glad I brought clean pants.

Those brats better be so rich I’ll never need to leave town again.

After Malleon's turn, I shall continue to drool.

Chalen drools in stupefied horror.

Any kind of action that doesn't involve whacking it?

If it's allowable, I'll back up behind the front line and cast Resistance on Oso, in case this thing tries its fascinate crap again.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen’s initial shock quickly turns to enthrallment as the scarecrow advances (Natural 1). A thin line of spittle runs down the side of his mouth before some of the initial fear creeps back in, and he manages to throw his crossbow up before him as a crude ward.

Initiative = 11 (+6 = 17 for Chalen).

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

More of those crows. Anyone have a problem with me trying to scatter them off?

Dismounts and loads crossbow.

Listen (21) / Spot (15)

Chalen snaps out of his "riding horses through the woods...yet again" funk.

Looks like trouble.

Woo. Gang's all here!

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

Oh ouch. That has got to be uncomfortable. Take your time, don't overdo it or you'll be right back in there. So, get well soon!

Chalen bows out of slipping on the bangle.

Compunctions against pillaging the dead aside, I find it is best never to try on a magic item before knowing more about it.

Once in my Uncle’s laboratory I had a most stressful mishap with a cursed belt. However, on the upside, I learned to dance, and was voted “harvest queen” two years running. Eventually, he felt I had suffered enough and severed the enchantment.

Freaking Oiy.

The bracelet lying there (points) is enchanted, though I cannot determine the type of magic which imbues it. Perhaps another time.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Present.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

These men did not die well, and I have reservations regarding ghouling over their belongings. What you do is your business, however.

Chalen mumbles a few archaic words, accompanied by a quick gesture, then begins to concentrate on the bodies and belongings of the dead (casts detect magic).

If anything indicates the presence of magic, Chalen will point it out with something akin to "if you're going to pillage, at least damn yourself over something worthwhile."

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

Chalen looks around, grumbles, then drops back to sleep.

Spot 10.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

Chalen calls down, "Consider me to be "hunting" for moss then. With our luck, it's probably man-eating moss anyway."

Since we already know where this is, I'll grab a handful and head on down.

“I just know this worthless moss is going to give me a rash.”

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

If the strength damage is recovered from the remainder of the night's rest, Chalen will shinny up the tree to search for the moss (taking 10).

“Anything to get out of this place and get back to those idiot kids. Not looking down….not looking down.”

Louder “Are we sure the moss is here? I’m not seeing anything!”

Spot = 8

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

I'm open to either. I check back on the boards daily, so when the thread starts moving again I'll see it soon enough.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Good on HP, 4/4/0 on spells, down 1 pt. of strength yet.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen, caught barehanded when the wyrm breaks for daylight, topples over backwards before quickly righting himself.

May as well just proceed with my regular round, as I'm after the beastie.

Chalen fires a ray of scathing frost at the Wyrm, unfortunately shooting far wide of his mark (Ranged Touch = 3) and splashing the ancient tree with rime, before running over to where he dropped his crossbow.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Seeing Malleon in jeopardy, Chalen uncharacteristically drops his crossbow and rushes in to aid him (free + move, wyrm is in a grapple, so no aoo + auto grab).

Chalen attempts to break Malleon free of the Wyrm’s grasp (join grapple (standard) , opposed check = 14 = failure), but fails to get a lock on the thrashing monster.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

"I am really beginning to dislike this place. Is there anything about that doesn't want us dead? Maybe some light conversation over mulled wine."

Chalen fires a bolt at the beast that whizzes ineffectually passed Bobek's ear (Attack = 8 ).

"This thing was so worth its weight in gold...," Chalen mutters as he reloads.

Used a move action on the last page to get up.

I'll use the second half to retrieve the crossbow.

“That’s no kobold,” he says sleepily. Shaken awake ( Listen Check = 20 ) by the vicious surprise attack on Malleon, Chalen sluggishly gets to his feet.

Thought I screwed up on the roller, but no, I rolled a natural 1 for initiative (hooray….).

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen meditates quietly, recovering spells and idly daydreaming of deafened, blind kobolds with bells on their shoes blundering into trees.

"Moss? I'll take your word for it. ( Search = 4 ) .

Chalen settles in and prepares to meditate through the evening.

"Are you sure you wouldn't rather I just scramble up now and got us back on the road?"

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

"I don't condone the pick pocketing of the recently departed...but I don’t suppose the savage happened to own a lamp, or a lantern, or even a nice torch?"

(Spot = 18)

Chalen decides to wait to reload until he is clear of the crow. Instead, he concentrates of being patient and not getting hit.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

As Bobek no longer seems to need a human shield.

Failed the spot check again (at work, had to use the suck roller) = 8.

"At least this thing isn't difficult to see."

Both Chalens fire a crossbow bolt at the remaining crow.

1d20-2 = 12

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Sorry for the hiatus, had a bad allergic reaction to something. Looks like I got back just in time.

Spot Check = 3

Chalen looks in the direction indicated by Bobek.

"I don't see anyone, but that arrow didn't fly by itself. Let's see if I can make myself a little useful regardless."

Chalen steps between Bobek and general direction of the unknown assailant.

Chalen makes a few cryptic gestures and stumbles through the words of what appears to be a very difficult spell (DC8 Caster Check = 16). Where before he stood alone, now there are 5 identical Chalens blocking the path to Bobek (1d4+1 Images = 4).

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Lamishal

"With our luck it's probably another werewolf."

Chalen unstraps and loads his crossbow.

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen contemplates the future, not paying particular attention to his surroundings (Listen Check = 11).

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen, not having been privy to the details of the cure until now, thanks the logger for his assistance, then goes to join Oso in the mess.

“I’m hungry and saddle sore enough to eat a goat at this point, but I'm still not drinking anything that comes out of one.”

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

"As much as I hate to abandon the children at this time, the greater need of the town definitely applies."

Striking flint and steel as he attempts to light the pyre.

Loudly, Chalen exclaims, “Where in the name of all the gods do you keep finding more of that awful swill?”

Whispered to Oso “I do know, but it is best not to dwell on evil deeds, even well intentioned ones. If you remember anything about today, bear in mind that we are your friends, and you owe me a lamp.”

Chalen (Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1)

Chalen's stomach rumbles ominously as he finishes piling the pyre with fallen wood from nearby. "I do not feel well at all. Is anyone else ill?"

Softening a bit, "We're all responsible, Oso. The only decision left is whether to burn her here or take her back into town."

"We might want to put the torch to the corpse below as well. I'd check on it myself, but I seem to have misplaced my lamp."
