Shadow Lodge

Welcome to Formidably Maid - one of the more vile collections of scum and villainy in Port Peril. It's nine o'clock on a Saturday. The regular crowd shuffles in. There's an old man sitting at the card table, making love to his tonic and gin. It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the waitress, she gives you a smile.

Shadow Lodge

Ambitious and long term undertaking.

I will be running a full Skull and Shackles campaign. PFS credit will be given for the sanctioned content sections, as for pre-gen characters. I'll also be weaving in Dragon's Demand.

Characters will be built using PFS rules (20 point build, etc.). However.. all Paizo content is fair play (my access to 3rd party content is very limited, so I'm going to keep it to Paizo stuff). Faction traits (or other Pathfinder-specific content) will require a strong justification. Playtest material (advanced class guide...) is also acceptable. Advancement will use PFS-style XP awards, and 'disrepute'/'infamy' (not prestige/fame) - which will be used as GM guidance on access to magic items and vanity.

In selecting submissions, I will be looking at PFS content as a guideline for abusive material. I will not be selecting a crew full of goblins.

Expected posting rate will be roughly one post per day. Communication about lags or breaks is encouraged and expected (real life happens to all of us). Communication is important - that's what the discussion thread is for.

So - I'm looking for six scurvy dogs with some reason to be in Port Peril. I'll be accepting submissions through 1/11. Questions/clarifications/setup for several days, then setting sail 1/14.

So down your cup of grog, hoist the sails, and set a steady course for the Shackles, where plunder and infamy galore await those who can seize it!

I will be running a full Skull and Shackles campaign with PFS characters. S&S itself is not self-sufficient for advancement of PFS characters within the framework, so I'll be weaving in Dragon's Demand. Between the two, there's enough to maintain advancement at least through level 8 (with one hole I'll plug with either another module or several scenarios).

I will be looking for participation by characters through the entire campaign (not drop-ins only for sanctioned content). With that said, I will also be signaling when characters are 'locked' (currently within PFS sanctioned content) and when they are 'free'. At the beginning of each 'locked' section, I will be asking players to ensure their characters are both PFS-legal, supported by Chronicle sheets, and remain within subtier constraints. After each section of sanctioned content, I will be providing Chronicle sheets, and doing the registration with PFS.

When characters are 'free', players are encouraged to take 'em out for a spin in other sanctioned play - games days, home games, whatever. Just get me a copy of the Chronicle. As long as the character remains 'in tier', that's great.

All characters must be PFS legal. In campaign, characters' faction alliances will be discounted (more than ignored - 'retconned' out of existence..). For PFS purposes, faction declarations will be recorded and credited. Players that have not received credit for any of Dragon's Demand or S&S will be given strong preference.

I propose that *strictly for the purposes of playtest*, that PFS permit use of ACG characters at 4th or 7th level, as one would use pre-generated PFS characters, with set gp, pp, and fame levels typical for 4th and 7th level characters.

As for a pre-gen, chronicles for events using the 'playtest' characters would be usable either for 1st level characters, or for a character attaining the appropriate level. The playtest characters would not be available for play after the playtest, or for advancement during the playtest.

This would allow PFS testing of the advanced versions of these characters, to benefit both the playtest of the material, and assess their interaction with PFS rules and usages.

I've got a baddy with a huge stealth rating, but who cast prestidigitation. The party is trying to hunt him down using 'detect magic', under the theory that prestidigitation is a buff, and should show as an active spell effect. Looking at the spell in detail, it has a non-dismissable duration, but the effect is not 'self', but instead is defined by where the effects can occur - even though the spell allows the caster to create new effects throughout the (long) duration.

So... can the party find the critter with detect magic? I'm currently inclined to credit the party with a clever solution and move on. But I'd like to get some broader feedback.

Initial post, initial thread, establishing a 'campaign'.

We have a great group of 6 players assembled (and started off) for a Rise of the Runelords (Anniversary Edition) game.

We had a GM, but he has disappeared on us. We believe this is a medical issue - and we all understand (though we're a bit worried). It's been 2 months now since our old GM last posted on the boards anywhere, and as a group we've decided to either draft a new GM, or give up the ghost.

This is a good group - great characters, good interaction, good pace.

If you've considered running an RoR game, please take this as an opportunity to have a proven group, with lists and logistics and whatnot already set up.

Here is the original game campaign group, the gameplay thread, and also FYI there was significant RP in the initial recruitment thread.
