I don't really know how the kingdom building mechanics work yet, so I'll be spectating for a while rather than giving input.

Flashback Next Gen:

Evin visibly relaxed. "Yes, of course, brother. What guest? Why would they be hostile?"

89... posts... I was gone for ONE day, guys. Geez. Speaking of which, sorry for the absence. I had a mountain of homework to do and very little help with my small human for the day.

Kevin O'Rourke and Abalia (I haven't looked up your non-alias screen name yet), shall we set up a message to collaborate about the Kerenskys?

Evin spent his last week at home quite taciturn. Nothing could motivate him to fulfill his household duties. He was often seen prowling the streets in the afternoon, wearing clothing that was on the brink of scandalous considering his station. The morning of departure saw him flinging his underwear into a bag at the last minute. He'd intentionally forgotten to pack the itchy green jacket he'd been forced to wear to the meeting last week.

He arrived late to the docks, having split from his brother and sister in law on the way. Stepping out from a side street onto the bustling open square, he saw his family talking to a woman he didn't recognize.

He approached the small group, a very tall, very muscular young man with a blond braid down his back following behind. He arrived just as she turned and left to board the ship.

"Who's she?" Evin asked Samuel.

Samuel and Abalia:

Evin and this young man have been inseparable over the last few months. He's often spotted hanging around the family property, and Evin usually disappears for hours at a time afterward.

Also really only for Samuel and Abalia, but nesting wasn't working:
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

DC19:

Evin usually comes back from these outings seemingly in pain and with a well-concealed limp, but in better cheer than usual. Evin is currently limping. You suspect something more is going on.

Knowledge Local: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Evin's jaw hung loosely, as if his face had simply forgotten to hold it in place. "Minor?" he sputtered, though it was lost in the lilting tones of Abalia's and Qazag's questions. He turned to his brother.

"Samuel, you being chosen to help establish a colony I understand - but there must be a mistake. You know me. I would be no use on such a venture!"

Then he turned to Harold. "Please - why us? Mere politics and gerrymandering, or are we truly hand picked?" The social folly of such a question didn't for a moment cross his mind, he was so taken aback.

Edit: Oops, parallelisms. Abalia's tones are lilting, not Qazag's. Unless, perhaps, they are?

Woot, character all set up. Now if only Paizo could stop being down whenever I try to post.

Yes, I understand the irony of me posting this.

Speaking of character profiles... I do not know how to do that thing.

Like, I know how to make one on paper. But not on this website.

I've been recruited IRL, just realized I have no effin idea how to actually get setup with character in the actual character tab. Eragar, halp plz.

Lawful Neutral would be a good starting place for a kingdom. No one starts a colony being like "Imma oppress some folks." Then we can see where it takes us.

Ok, younger sibling makes more sense. I hadn't gathered Samuel's age.

rerolling.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 5) = 16 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 5) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 2) = 14 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 6) = 21 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 2) = 15 = 13

That's much better. Still a bit wimpy on constitution, which is fine.

The more I stare at it the more fitting it seems, though. In a cringey, my-character-can't-do-anything kind of way.

Ok, the Viceroy's teenager from not his current wife and who is not the heir. That creates a good deal of tension, actually. I like it.

If Marshal is still available (which it seems to be), I'll take it. I'd be interpreting it along the lines of being an officer of the law and a statesman, which a ruler's son is likely to be in the position of. Though I doubt a teenager would be placed unconditionally in charge of a police force without a check on his youth.

Anyway, rolling attributes...

Strength: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 3) = 10 = 9 (oh gods the kid is a wimp)
Dexterity: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 1) = 10 = 9 (aaand a bit clumsy)
Constitution: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1) = 9 = 8 (I'm sensing a theme here)
Intelligence: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3) = 11 = 10 (not a total clod!)
Wisdom: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 5) = 12 = 11 (knows better than to do that one thing)
Charisma: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 1) = 12 = 11 (endearing in a clumsy, skinny, easily-squicked way..)

Well, the fates rolled me an average, awkward, sheltered 17 year old boy named Evin. Moving to a new colony means he'll have to grow up quickly, especially since policing the colony will be his responsibility - with guidance, of course. He'll have to grow into his new role as Marshal as he grows into his manhood... if that ever happens.

Sorry I'm late to the party, all.

I know y'all have bantered around the idea of leaving the heir position open, but my character idea is the Viceroy's teenager. Which wouldn't exactly make them the de facto heir. Kevin O'Rourke, would that kind of relationship between our characters be ok with you?
