So, I have been in and out of 2.0, mainly because my family game is on hold while my oldest son is at school, and because my Saturday night group has shifted to 5e. Somewhere in the process, I must have missed the entry on how to "level up" monsters... For example, I am sending my family party into the Bright Lands of Greyhawk. I want to use Gnolls as the main adversary, but the team is level 9 or 10. In PF1, I would add levels of a class that I needed and that would settle things. In PF2, the mechanism seems to be different, but I've been unable to find any reference to it. I get that you can make creatures "Elite" or "Weak", but what if I want to make a Gnoll cleric of Tharizdun, or a challenging Gnoll wizard - how does that work?

I thought I was in the general forum...

Thanks again Captain Morgan and others! I can’t wait for the official rules!

Thanks everyone for the information. The Titan Mauler Barbarian seems to be a little bit skewed. I do understand the F=ma argument, but this is a fantasy game. My son built a Gnome barbarian Titan Mauler that uses large weapons. We are struggling a bit to figure out how to adjust his damage in two cases:
1. Normal form when he’s Small and swinging a large sword (I’m struggling with this anyway, but rules are rules)
2. Gnome large form (he took that ability), so when he goes from Small to large, the sword becomes Huge. Would he roll extra dice in this case like a Giant would?
Just trying to work my way thru this when there are no rules outlined. I can manage, but I thought I’d check with the Hive Mind.

So, a great sword for a fire giant deals the same base damage as a great sword for a human, even though it’s twice the size?

I initially wanted the first part of the first adventure to be about the interview/testing process, but I figured starting the PCs off right in the action was a better plan.

Could the Interview process be part of the Player Companion? Or a special product put together for GenCon and then made available to those of us without the means to attend?

OK, chiming in from Florida where I am a-conferencing... Experiencing long-distance nutkicks are NOT fun...

I concur with TentacledOne - hold onto your brainz, but I would add cover your nuts.

I am willing to run the skill monkey - bard or rogue.

Here is my concept:

Maruusk, Vah Shir of the Panther Clan, has done something to offend the Spirits and the Ancestors. That must be what an ancestor has decided, which is why I am in this stinking hole with this others... It must be Uncle Purrsk - he always hated me...

Groaning, Maruusk rolls over, feeling the raw deck scrape him in places where he HAD been wearing clothing...

"By the Ancestors, where am I, and who are you people?"

With the introduction of the new Jade Regent path and the far east for Golarin, is the a vised list of monk proficiencies? Are they proficient with all monk weapons?

I, too, like this combat. It took place across two sessions for my group. In this, you MUST use the different levels of the vat room to your advantage. It was loads of fun. Neither bad guy escaped my group either, but the bad guys went toe to toe with them for several minutes (game time). Grine was sneaking around back-stabbing unsuspecting characters, while Vorkstag spent most of his time trying to pinpoint the party's alchemist with his bombs, as well as deal enough damage to the other PCs to keep them at bay. In the end, a nice little fight.

FYI - Castle Caromarc is much more complicated.

I tried to search, and well, it does suck... :)

Here is my question:
On the Called Shots section, there are several references to a fortitude save, but no mention on how to calculate the DC. Sorry if this is in he thread somewhere, but there are too many pages to review.

Thanks!

Jason, first - WOW! Thanks for this. Frankly, poison has always been a bit of a quandary wrapped in an enigma for me - regardless of the system.

Second, can I suggest you immediately rip this from the Blog and include it in your next errata for the Core rules. If one is not planned, then plan one. The examples alone are worth half their weight in gold.

See the sequel modules, especially Hungry Are The Dead, though you might also want Revenge of the Kobold King.

Thanks Dave! I will look into these modules. I did not realize that "Hungry..." was part of this series...

In the Crown, the module introduces the concept of a dark entity underneath the Crucible, it has Allips searching the ruins and the Vale for info. Has anyone, via a module or otherwise, developed this entity at all? I am interested in whatever info people may have, or can point out, because I am using the locale as the basis for my Campaign, and it would help if I had some basics. I can do it myself, but I am not afraid of borrowing other's hard work. :)

Thanks in advance.

Does Paizo offer this kind of service? I have some friends that I would like to get certificates for them to use on the site to get some Pathfinder stuff.
If you offer this, how do I order them?

Thanks.

I found a reference to something called "Pathfinder#5"

OK, I'm quoting myself... I realized that #5 refers to pathfinder Adventure Path #5, "Sins of the Saviors".

I had not realized that each of these adventures also contained some other materials not necessarily tied to the adventure therein.

I found a reference to something called "Pathfinder#5" in a document I downloaded called Magic Of Thassilon. I was wondering what this product might be, and if it were out there somewhere to be purchased? It sounds interesting, with all kinds of ancient magics, etc in it. Just the kind of thing I want to torture my players with. :)

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Thanks.

Thanks, maybe I should just order it from Paizo and pay the extra $8 that I was saving at the online stores...

If you're buying online, I'd go through Paizo. If you're wanting to buy at a store, I recommend that instead.

Just my tuppence.

Thanks for the tuppence! Now I just need about 300 more of them to cover the cost difference between Paizo rates and Amazon's! :)

Yes, I agree, order through Paizo, if you don't mind paying more... Of course, you get a cheaper amount with poorer service...

I guess you get what you pay for. :(

Does anyone know what's the average domestic shipping cost for getting this from Paizo? I'm just trying to factor in my costs. [feigns shock] My Amazon pre-order got bumped to mid November as well. [/feigns shock]

Based on my pre-purchase info, it came out to about 6.50.

Take in consideration the free PDF if you order from Paizo...
Note that it's a Free PDF only if you Subscribe from Paizo.

Right, so if I do not, then I am paying $20+ based on shipping to PA.

If I do, then it is $10+ based on the cost of the PDF...

Guess I have to decide if I want to subscribe or not...

According to the main online stores, the delivery has been delayed until mid-late November. Is this true of product ordered from Paizo online store? BN and Borders have it listed for the end of October, Amazon has mid-November... Any idea of the impact?

First, Day of Infamy - great book, excellent author. His Guns of the South is one of my favorites, as are his Krispos of Videssos books.

I'm currently reading two books:
"Overseer" by Jonathan Rabb, a modern conspiracy theory played out in the world style book - just for fun.

"the Deathly Hallows", to my son as we finish out the series. He loves it as I do my best Hagrid and Snape... Lets me work on voices...

I am a LONG TIME gamer (read old gamer) and have used Tiamat in many campaigns as the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Gal) many times. I just received the Gods & Magic book (excellent source), but was surprised and dismayed that she didn't make the cut. Is there a reason why she was dropped? Is she listed somewhere else as a Kobold or Dragon goddess? If so, I'm surprised since this source did an excellent job of pulling in many other non -player race deities.

Can anyone provide some information?

Perhaps this was an oversight and there is an errata out there? (Hoping this is the case!)

As an avid user of these tools and a lover of the new 3.75 rules, I wanted to see if anyone had created datasets for the Beta rules yet that could be loaded into either of these tools. Has any thought been put to this?

Thanks - Joe
