"Do you remember when Ruji 'introduced himself to Tamrin? Does that memory bring a smile to your face?"

"Magma tube, huh?"

"Yes, my parents worked with earth magic to build houses. One day, their fire mage was sick and couldn't make it to the new site, and they decided to continue without him. The tube was already close to breaking through the few feet of stone left, and according to witnesses, it literally exploded when the moved rock to make the foundation. It was an honest mistake and I made my peace with it a long time ago."

"Wow. A very special meal indeed. Thank you for sharing your memories with us, Ryo. It is a great honor."

"If we were not meant to share happy memories, why would we remember them? It is a greater honor for me to share them with you."

"Yeah, food sounds like a good idea."

Ruji spreads his wings above his head again, showing a steaming fish.

"Ha. Okay Ruji, I'll get you some fish. If were going to tell stories and remember the past, I know exactly what I'll order."

After scibbling something down on a peice of paper and handing it to the server, he picks up Ruji and uses him as a focus to show them all his favorite places. Between the wings an underground ocean appears, a cave where huge dire bats(the cave fliers he mentions) live and Ruji flying away from a swarm of them for all he's worth, and a cavern filled with small rivelets of water. The last image is modest, two-story with faded red paint.

"I'm no good at telling stories with words, so I use my memories and Ruji. I'd get tongue-tied otherwise."

By the time he finishes, the server has returned with a medium sized plate. As the inticing scent wafts over the table, Ryo explains just what it is. He places a large(in comparison) fish in front of Ruji as he talks.

"Roast cave flier cooked in the water crystals grow in seasoned with various spices and herbs, including fire leaf and blue moss. It was the last meal my entire family shared together before the magma tube broke."

"Not particularly, but I suppose it was to be expected. It's...done then?"

"Yes. He won't be bothering anyone anymore."

"Are you okay?" she asks, looking worried.

"I'm.. okay. It's just.. I've been keeping him safe his entire life. I never let him do anything that could get him seriously hurt and then I go and.."

"Let's forget about, okay? It's over, and people are safe again. We should be celebrating!"

Once Ruji flies over and and swipes his non-metallic arm, Ryo looks up from his drink and notices Tamrin waving him over. He hesitates when he sees Aananda, but walks over anyway.

"Hey guys, did you like your little side trip?" he says with a grim smile.

I do believe it is totally appropriate for me to say I'm feel some serious disturbance in the Farce here.... ;D

You sure the disturbance isn't in the dwarf?

Ryo, having made it to the Juggling Dwarf only a few minutes before the stumbling Tamrin and unsure Aananda, and order a drink that would make a frost drake breath flames. He is pale and shaking again, and his has a ragged cut on the right side of his face.

EDIT: Anyway, this may be my last post for awhile, since school is out. I'll try to check in often.

Ruji hisses at him while Ryo's expression changes from worried to horrified. He never thought she'd stop eating! He stands, mad at himself for not thinking before he talked.

"Uh, dammit.. I'm sorry. You probably don't..* I'll go take care of Keaton now.. Sorry."

He hurries out the door, not even noticing that Ruji is staying behind and trying to comfort Aananda.

*The rest of this sentence is actually: "..want me around anymore." It will be interesting to see how it is interpreted though...

Tam looks at Ryo in a bit of shock - like he just crossed a line he shouldn't have with that comment. He shakes his head to get him to drop that subject while he steals a glance back at Aananda to gauge her reaction.

*facepalm* Oops, forgot the whole "Problem at the Temple" arc for a minute.

Catching Tam's nod and realizing he may have gone to far, Ryo looks at Kannic.

"So how long will you be gone from our delightful company?"

He pauses for a moment, and seems to be counting.

"Do you realize we have only known each other for three or four days, and we're already good friends?"

Quick Tam, delete your posts and she will never know! ;)

"Well said, Ryo - some of the best reasons to travel right there. You can learn a lot about people by what they eat and what they laugh at - even if occasionally that's you," Tam says, inclining his head in a slightly self-deprecating way. ;)

Ryo can't help but laugh.

"Aananda, we were just teasing Tam! If you had hurt him, don't you think he would have said something already?"

"Hey now! I don't pull that hard!"

"Of course not. I mean, your only a monk. Perhaps he has weak bones?"

"Hey now - my arms haven't come off yet. And I'm making sure she grabs each arm equally so they stay the same length," Tam laughs as he examines his arms critically for a moment. :)

"The difference being both of you arms are flesh and bone."

He looks at Tam's arms for a second before eating again.

"The left one is longer."

"Ummmmm.....yeah," she says, looking a little guilty. Her shoulders slump.

Ruji curls up in Aananda's lap, purring loudly, as Ryo puts a comforting(now metal) hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'll help you if you want me to, and even if you don't."

He pauses for a moment, then smiles.
"Just don't jerk me around like Tamrin, or my new arm may pop off!"

"Splitting up so soon after being through so much. It doesn't seem right. I'd feel better if we didn't seperate completely."

Whispering to Aananda

With food on the table, I was wondering what was taking Aananda so long! ;)

"Sorry to ruin the mood, but it is a cause for concern. At least now you can pick the time and place, and no more innocents will become messages. But what about other beasts, like the one that turned him?"

"It's okay Kannic."

He sighs, then lowers his voice to continue.
"Do you remember the illusion he showed us in the masion? That wasn't fake, it was a memory we both shared. About one month ago, my other 'ability' manifested. I was going through my cards to see what they all did, when he walked into the room and saw the Fire card light the focusing candles in the room."

He reaches into his cloak and shows him the Gate card.
"This was the next card I tried. It.. it took us Above. He was bitten before we could return. This is all my fault..."

"Err, Ryo, still have him 'bottled up'?"

Ryo's mood instantly darkens. He nods.

"I plan on ending it later, away from others that might get caught in fight. Including you three."

"Don't be silly Tamrin, I'm fine. Besides, if I get into trouble and it turns out I'm not fine, Ruji's with me now."

Much like a child with something he doesn't want to eat, Ryo begins passing food to Ruji when he thinks no one is looking.

"Hungry as a cave crawler. You're looking 'whole'. That's good."

"Guess I'm 'armed' and ready for the next big fight."

"Interesting messenger you have there. Good thing I wasn't a wee bit more hungry," he adds with a wink.

"So that's why he ran off. This is Ruji, my family's guardian."

From out of nowhere he flips out Ryo's dagger. "This is yours I presume?" He hands it over with a nod.

"I wondered where that was. Thanks Kannic."

"Who's up for lunch?"

"I've had to eat temple food. I'm looking forward to food even more than Aananda."

Kannic heads down to the dining room, looking to see if the kitten follows and if it flies as it does rather than walking.

Ryo looks up from his cowering tressym to see Kannic enter the room. He raises his new arm(which is hidden in a long sleeve) and waves Kannic over, smiling faintly.

"Hey Kannic, how are you doing this fine day?"

After catching the flying fuzzball, Ryo holds Ruji up to look him in the eyes.

"I've told you before not to run -or fly- off like that before.
Remember the cave flier swarm?"

Ruji's purple eyes grow wide, and he struggles until he can hide in Ryo's arms.

Ruji jumps from Ryo's arms and runs off.

"Ruji! Get back here! Probably smelled food somewhere..."

"Let's go then. Ruji, we're going to look for another friend of mine. He's shorter than Tam, so no illusion tackles, okay?"

Seeming somewhat dissapointed, Ruji rawrs at him and curls up in the crook of Ryo's flesh and blood arm as Ryo wobbles to his feet.

Yes. Yes it is.

"Hey, anyone know where Kannic is? I'd have thought he'd visit too."

"Hopefully Ruji will get bored with your arm so you can actually start practicing with it," Tam says with a grin.

"Have you never played with a kitten before?"

Ryo grabs his cloak and places his hand under it, and Ruji pounces as Ryo makes his fingers move under the cloth.

Hmm. Well, the portal he tried to escape through was losing power quickly... it may not have had the power to send you far. Perhaps the reason Agartha is hidden is to keep the Dragon Empire from controlling it? As it is an Empire ruled by Dragons, Agartha could be really, really old(which is probably why no one remembers why Agartha is hidden, or even that there is a world above the Sun Crystal.).

Good morning! Cold, but good anyway. I just wish there was snow on the ground, or another ice storm like the one I was in during January(?)...

Hey Tam, how well do you know constelations and the legends regarding them? I may have you "realize" something.

"For all the years he's been guarding my family, he is still a kitten. You should see him when he tries to fly after eating too much."

"And you're gonna need it. But first let's see if we can just get this..."

Her voice trails off as she focuses on putting the arm on Ryo. The end of it slides over his stump easily. It looks like there's some sort of webbing in there. He feels a stinging, tingling sensation as the webbing fuses with his skin.

"There, that should do it. Ummm, let's see...try to wiggle your fingers."

Sorry for the disappearance. My internet connection crapped out for a bit.

No worries, oh Hidden Dragon.

A bit nervous, Ryo wiggles his left fingers as a joke.
"Okay, those still work...

Looking down at the metal appendage, Ryo tries to move fingers no longer there, and breaths a sigh of relief and joy as the metal moves smoothly.

"Amazing. Simply amazing.."
Ruji jumps up onto the bed and swats playfully at the metal arm.

*He's a specialist. Seer stuff is easy, it's the other stuff that can tire him out.
