Ok so here is my first idea for a deity. Please let me know what you think and if this is acceptable in your world?

Resprin:
Resprin is the god of knowledge, skill, construction, and good magic.

Resprin has always been revered by those who build, study, or create. He has a great following in the Dwarven communities as a patron of engineers and builders. Dwarven tradition states that the secrets of engineering and stone cutting were given by Resprin to the original tribe of Dwarves so they may build and live in the mountains.

Recently the sages and scholars who study arcane magic have begun a modern renaissance in worship of Resprin. Allowing many to study the arcane arts without completely abandoning religion. This has led to many new churches being created, especially in urban areas, that are seen as centers of learning and scholarship. And while it is still a minor religion, it is growing quickly to the dismay of many followers of Jessabra.

Priests of Resprin are know as sages, teachers, and librarians. All knowledge is sacred to them as is the ability to teach and learn. The favorite pastime of followers of Resprin is debating the merits of some new research, publishing papers on their own research, or lecturing to interested audiences.

While the ritual rites in a church of Resprin are simple and participatory in both chanting and song, the sermon almost always involves some research topic or a visiting scholar speaking about his work.

Also interested, I'm thinking of a dwarven inqusitor played as a film noir style private eye. Think 'short same spade with a beard'. I will put together a character and some notes on a deity shortly.

I am very interested. Can you give us some details about deities and other places that the characters may be from?

I'm planning a Dwarven cleric or inquisitor.

Thanks.

I'd be very interested to play something like this but can't be available at that, or any, specific time every week. Is there any chance of you, or someone else, running something like this as a PbP?

Matt, I appreciate the offer but I'm not familiar with the system or the setting. I guess there was a TV show? I have it in my netflix queue now.

I'm open to things other than pathfinder, but it's the only current game that I actually have the books for. And I do admit that I love the Golarion setting. All the games (2) I've entered have been PF set in the Inner Sea. I dropped out of one because of GM problems and the other seems to be stalled... Unfortunately almost all of the Golarion set games on the boards are APs. <Shrug> I'm sure I'll find something, maybe I should learn to be less picky. But do keep me in mind if you see something pop up.

OK, now I have a favor to ask. Can everyone keep their eyes, and ears, open for another game for me. I'm looking to play, as a Player, more than I am right now. I've looked through the current recruitment threads and don't see anything I like, or that isn't already over full. I know that Hu5tru is starting a JR game but she has like 75 people already posted there. Plus I'm not excited about playing APs on PbP, partially because I hope to play them IRL someday. So if you hear about or see a posting for a game I may have missed, that isn't an AP, please give me a heads up. And Hu5tru, if you run anything else that isn't AP based, I'm so there.

Thanks

Funny, she doesn't look Drumish.

That's exactly why I think Eschew Materials is one of the best feats for a low level Mage. No more carrying bat guano and feathers around.

Tristen: You can have what ever kind of bird you want. But keep in mind you have switched from a Hunting bird to a scavenging bird. What effect do you think that would have on it's stats?

Gawain: Looks good. I think order of the Lion would be fine, just be careful who you end up pledging you oath to.

Alika:
The story looks great, up until the last paragraph. This Ureste doesn't sound like he would qualify as a 'Trusted Mentor'. He is also definitely NOT the kind of person who would have received this letter in the first place. Lastly you being Charmed would be counter to the purpose of the letter.

The Galtian textile merchant (who needs a name) sounds much more likely to be who you got the letter from. He would present it as having come from a business associate to whom he owes a favor. He sees it as great opportunity for you to expand your experiences and eventually come back even more competent to run the 'family business'.

So if you want to have one last run in with Ureste, or if not then you may have heard that he has been trying to expand his interests in Taldor.

Let me know what you think.

I'm very interested. I think that the SW book I have at home is the same one you described, I'll check tonight. I think the campaign and setup ideas are awesome. I would go with Rebel or Zadora. I don't have any questions that I'm sure wouldn't get answered in the actual recruitment post.

I would be interested in playing (not running, unfortunately) a Modern setting game. I would prefer a James Bond/Jason Borne style game to a Call of Duty style game. Obviously that would be up to whomever runs it, but that's my vote. I'll d/l the rules and take a look tonight.

I'm awaiting approval for another Sandpoint game set after the Jade Regent caravan leaves. If I don't get accepted into that one I would like to join yours. I also really like the Sandpoint setting but I think two games, set in the same place, at different times would be too hard to keep strait. As for starting off with no equipment, sounds fun but you are right that it disadvantages some classes/character concepts. But if all the players know that going in then that's their choice to make.

Is there still room for another player? I have been looking to get into a PbP game but haven't had experience with any of the official APs. I like that your setting is in Golarion but not directly from an AP.

Also is knowledge of Jade Regent a requirement? If so I can read the Players Guide. If you still have room I could generate a character quickly for approval.

Thanks,

Canyon R

Thinking of running a Palladium Fantasy game. Probably max of 4-5 players. Thinking of setting it in the Northern Wilderness. Dont know how this will go but i'm willing to try. (Also think it will be easier to run than a RIFTS game.)

Palladium was always one of my favorite game systems. Sure it took 4 hours to create a character, but when you were done they were fleshed out enough that you could send them on the beer run.

I liked how all the different Palladium games were compatible. I once mixed Ninjas & Superspies, Beyond the supernatural, Mystic China, and Palladium Fantasy for a really wild time travel game.

Have you looked at PCGen? It's primarily a tool for managing player characters but does have random generation of NPCs as a feature.

pcgen.sourceforge.net

I'm using to create my "important" NPCs by hand. If you do make an NPC generator you might look at having it export to the PCGen format so the could be opened up there for further management.

As for content, PCGen comes with a bunch of content including all the info for Pathfinder.

Hope this helps.

I was just about to post almost exactly the same question. I have already ordered the core rule book and bestiary one from amazon. I was looking for resources to get started while waiting for the books to arrive when I found this post.

I am wondering if there is a FAQ for new Pathfinder GMs somewhere? I'm imagining it as a "10 things you must know before running pathfinder" list or as a "things I wish someone told me when I started" article somewhere. I haven't run a game in 10+ years and I'm looking forward to getting back to it.

Thanks for the posts so far, it's good to know I already ordered the right books to get started.
