Liberty's Edge

You mean this is a limited print collector's edition??

Liberty's Edge

Hey guys,

Recently my GM started running Rappan Athuk and we immediately realized we were under prepared for retreat when the sh*t/fan correlations increase.

So, what's your advice for magic items, spells and gear for retreat? Let's get a list together! :)

I'm thinking the obvious Expeditious Retreat, Gaseous Form, Fly, Invisibility spells, anything else?

Liberty's Edge

Just found out after stopping to search google for "absent player pathfinder" and switching to "metagame pathfinder".

Here they are, the metagame artifact:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/artifacts/metagame-artifacts

They were in Artifact&Legends, which I read back in Sept2012, thus my foggy memory:

Liberty's Edge

Hi guys,

I remember reading about some magical items and spells we could use in-game to have a smooth running game when one of the players is absent.

But I can't remember in which book I read these items in, and the PRD comes up with nothing. Am I dreaming? Was it something else than official Pathfinder book, or what?

Help a GM out, thank you! <3

--- Please consider these:

- Torturing a sentient being creates pain, suffering and fear in the being. Most souls rise as undead because of the pain and suffering they endured prior to their deaths. (Shadows, allips ...etc)

The evil comes from creating more pain and suffering in the world. Would a good cleric or paladin do that? Plucking out a flies wings is not a good act. Is it natural? I don't think so.

- Characters base 'their' good and evil scales in line with their beliefs. Do the characters deities consider these evil or are in favor of them?

- Was it absolutely necessary? Is it for a good cause? If it was absolutely necessary, in line of duty, this vile acts can be tolerated, but they should be heavy burdens on a good characters soul.

--- Some examples:

- A LG paladin of Iomedae might consider torturing a sentient being (whether it is undead or not) if it is absolutely necessary to save lives. He will not take pleasure in it, he will not elongate the process, he will reason with the being to make sure it understands that he needs the information or they will both suffer. He would never lie to this being. He will deliver what is just after he gains the information he needs, preying to his goddess that she protects her honor for he succumbed to such a low tactic. He might atone for it afterwards.

- A LG Paladin of Sarenrae would not, never consider torture if it is not absolutely necessary and if the information can be gained in any other way. Sarenrae teaches "Swift justice for the irredeemable" and a Paladin would never break that law. Doing so would be putting his goddess' tenets at question.

- A LG Paladin of Erastil might consider torture an option if it is for the good of all, for he has the strength and responsibility to protect all. He will not take pleasure in it, he will not elongate the process, he will reason with the being to make sure it understands that he needs the information or they will both suffer. He would never lie to this being. He might atone for it afterwards.

- A LG Paladin of Torag knows strategy is founded upon information and he can go to some untasteful lengths to gain the information he needs. He doesn't take pleasure in torture and prays to his god that he can deliver information to him in ways he can show his valor. He knows he has protected his people and improved his strategy and does not feel the need to atone.

- A NG or N Cleric of Pharasma would never think to torture an undead creature. They dispose of the suffering soul as swiftly as possible, allowing the soul to be delivered to the courts of their lady. Toying with undead life can be something near to heresy for a Pharasmin.

- A LG Cleric of Gorum would be bored with all the tortures and the necessities. He would sharpen his sword, clean the little pieces of meat on the spikes of his armor and moves to meet the evildoers, head on! And he goes for the eyes with his space rodent, using Channel Smite as he moves on.

- A CG Cleric of Cayden Cailean would not resort to torture if he isn't pushed to the absolute limits of his mind by the circumstances. His god is a free spirit and binding and torturing an being (evil or not) is a move against freedom and the his beliefs. He would try to parlay with the being and if he sees no other options, he ends the beings evil existance so he doesn't continue his evil deeds.

- A CG Cleric of Calistra would not think twice about torturing a sentient being for the information he needs. He knows her goddess delivered this being to him so he can both further his goals for good and punish the creature to take revenge for the evil he has done. He would not extend the torture than what he feels necessary for the creature to learn and feel remorse for his deeds. If the creature cannot feel remorse, there is no point in torture, for no sensation of revenge can be received.

- A CG Cleric of Desna would not resort to torture and would not want to think about torture. He knows such an evil and freedom limiting act would harm their luck in the long run, and that the tortured creature's screams will haunt his dreams.

- A CN Cleric of Desna might be interested in seeing a being tortured, maybe try it himself if he feels like it. He knows there's always new sensations to be explored, and wonders how a body twitches with pain. He dreams of the pains and screams and looks upon the stars to gain new insights with all the awesome things in life.

These are my takes on various alignments and deities of Golarion and how characters might think. I hope this will be helpful.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Hello everyone,

Being a venture-captain for Pathfinder had been a dream of mine for a long time. I had been working through many unorthodox channels to promote both the hobby of roleplaying and Pathfinder with it for three years now, since the first alpha release.

I have been a D&D GM since 1999 and in 2009, my past GM and mentor, Selçuk Gözübüyük (who was 56 by that year) introduced me to Pathfinder. He said "Yes, I understand these house rules, but have you checked this new Pathfinder game? They have solved most of it." And indeed, Paizo had done it. Unfortunately, Selçuk passed away after an heart attack in 2011 and I wanted to mention his memory here.

About me, I am an online marketing specialist and keynote speaker who likes the spotlight, which is a handy skill in my line of business. Whatever project I pick-up, I tend to approach it with a marketing strategy eye, so our new society in Türkiye will be analysed and worked upon as a market.

The number of roleplayers in Türkiye is very low (probably around 2000-2500), but the number of MMORPG players are raising every year (around 1.3 million subscription based players). This tells me the handful of people who know about tabletop roleplaying can't or won't reach the younger audiences and call them to their roots.

This is still an issue, and the first issue we will be adressing in Türkiye. And can we do this? Yes, because we have done it before! :)

Three years ago, I came up with a little organisation called 'WoI' with a couple of friends in Istanbul, which was a little roleplaying convention focused on training newcomers about established systems. This open-minded approach worked well, and in 6 months, we swept past most of the established college conventions in Türkiye. I met both my lieutenants and introduced (evangelized!!) Pathfinder to them in this organisations, like many others.

We will, with my two lieutenants and a handful of enthusiastic candidates create an online established community and try to expand with the Beginner Box games, move on to the Core Rulebook and have actual Society Characters created, and then move forward with the GameMastery products and Advanced Rulebooks.

I am open to any suggestions and contributions from your past experience on 'introducing MMORPG gamers to tabletop d20' which will be our main concern for the coming years.

Any way, this has been a wall of text, but I would very much like to keep all of you guys updated and involved with anything we are doing in Türkiye.

Thank you all for reading! :)

Thank you. It's disappointing to see only a couple of spells were added there. :/

Liberty's Edge

Hi,

Do you know if the list of spells that can be made permanent with a Permanency spell has been updates? There are so many new spells with the new books, and I haven't been able to found if any of those new spells can be made permanent.

I've got my eye on these spells to make permanent:
Illusion of Calm
Youthful Appearance
Burning Gaze

Here is the current spell:
Permanency

Do you know if the list has been upgraded? Which spells do you think should be added to this list?

Well like 90% of adventuring is fashion accessories and color coordination. What is a Marid going to do evaporate in some hot black full body robe in the desert heat? Of course not! A nice magenta outfit with breathable fabric says “Yes I am a water subtype but I can adapt to both function and fashion while I TPK your party because they fought me next to a body of water”.

And battle stilettos. Stylish both in and out of water!

It has been two years, and I haven't managed to play through even half of the inner sea... I have visited many towns, many cities, traveled through the three continents... I was thinking, "at this rate, I will have all locations on Inner Sea covered in my games."

And now, this...

It's so bright, so vivid... What does this mean?
It's starting to look like there are other continents...

That goblin coming out of the closet in Runelords#1...
The overhaul of the bugbears into boogimen, shadows monsters...

I think I can see the influence now. :D

This is a general precaution to prevent gamers to fully embrace their hidden persona, the one that is buried deep inside. "Attack of the 10-year-old boy who thinks nothing is hilarious than poop and vomit and maybe dinosaurs"

First;
-- Aikido would be great! Trying to be true to the form; it can transform defence and disarm attempts into throws as an immediate action... Minor damage, but great battlefield control for the monk.

[Out of turn retaliation feats created endless broken characters in 3.5, but it can be nerfed.]

Second;
-- Wing Chun is rising with the Ip Man movies, but a Wing Chun like effect can probably be achieved with something like a Greater Flurry of Blows feat... (One more extra attack if it's against the same target)

Third;
Powerful monsters and multiarmed monsters SHOULD have a style of their own.

-- I'm imagining UFC Styled Power Grapple fighting for Minotaurs and the like, yet power grapple fights require patience under pressure, so it might be for creatures with high wisdom. Maintains grapple for 3 or more rounds; double STR damage each round AND a free unarmed attack to the face?

-- Multiarmed fighters might have a style that allows them multiple combat maneuvers in one attack. It might work like claw, claw, rend. Grapple, if grappled, free disarm or trip or steal attempt with +4 bonus?

Hmm...
