Hi all, it's been quite a while since I posted anything about my campaign website template, and I just wanted to make sure that anyone who might find it useful knows about it. It's a template for Google Sites, which provides free hosting and a very user-friendly interface. The template already has pages for player characters set up, along with sections like Announcements, Party Loot Log, Dice Roller, Journals, Online RP, Library (for handouts, maps, etc), as well as links to the srd and Paizo forums. The template complies with all of Paizo's Community Use Guidelines and is a registered project (http://paizo.com/communityuse/registry) Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions, as I'm always looking to update the template and keep it relevant. The template can be found at http://sites.google.com/site/pathfindertemplate/ Hey all, it's been a good while since I posted the info about the website template I put together. It's for the free and user-friendly Google Sites. I use it for all of my own games and quite a few people have used it for their play-by-post or home games and found it helpful. Many people have given great feedback and I really appreciate the help in making the template better. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know! The template can be seen at: https://sites.google.com/site/pathfindertemplate/ Hey all, I did a search but didn't see this mentioned anywhere. First, I don't have any affiliation with the following website... I just came across it online and thought it would be useful. It's a free, online tool that allows you to post a map and move tokens around on it for play-by-post games. You can post the map in forums and even move the tokens around on the embedded map. Show area-of-effect spells and more. I've just played around with it a little but it really seems like it could be a very useful tool. Gorbacz wrote:
Of course, none of the races would be able to go anywhere... having horribly deformed feet, or else missing them entirely. On the bright side, though, they would never lack for pouches to store things in! One of the funniest websites I've ever seen: The 40 Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings (a bit of potentially NSFW language) Another shout for video! Gonna toss this million-dollar idea out there for free... a website like Fora.tv but that focuses on providing HD recordings of the best of the various gaming, sci-fi, and comic conventions. With a reasonable subscription price, I know I'd be a member in a heartbeat. There are many more people who wish they could attend these things than are actually able to. Made some significant changes, incorporating info from the d20pfsrd.com and linking over to it for descriptions of equipment, classes, spells, etc. Everyone at d20pfsrd has done an incredible job for the pathfinder gaming community. I can't imagine there are many people who will read this that haven't checked it out, but head on over if that's somehow the case! Again, here's the template https://sites.google.com/site/pathfindertemplate/ The Classes, Skills, Feats, and all the Equipment sections were updated and can be accessed from the nav bar on the left of the main page. Good deal, thanks again! One last thing.. here's the Will rage power you mentioned: Clear Mind (Ex): A barbarian may reroll a failed Will
It says you can re-roll a failed Will save, but you have to do so before the DM reveals the results. My DM generally tells us the target DC of a save, so I would know immediately if I failed. Is this really trying to say, "...but before the consequences of failure are revealed by the DM" ? And the language of "must take the second roll even if worse," well... who cares? the first had to fail in order to roll the second; the second roll can only improve the situation. I haven't run across a situation where the magnitude of a saving throw failure mattered... does such a thing exist? I absolutely see the benefit of this, especially as we are likely to run up against vampires soon; just want to understand it fully. Some call me Tim wrote:
Go Go Gadget Springs! :) Thanks a ton for the input. I think I'll go with Knockback... had missed it somehow looking through. In subsequent printings, it would be nice if the rage powers were bolded instead of simply italicized. A table summing them all up would be nice as well. I know page space is at a premium, but would be nice. On the subject of Knockback... Knockback (Ex): Once per round, the barbarian can make
First, I love 1/round as opposed to 1/rage like so many of the powers. Now, at 10th level I have 2 melee attacks. As written, it looks like I could make one melee attack and then attempt a Bull Rush with my other melee attack. Just want to make sure I've got that correct. And if so, would I take one attack with my higher BAB, and then Bull Rush? If I did it in the opposite order, would the attack have to use my lower BAB? Sorry for the potentially elementary questions.. The synergy with Strength Surge is nice for sure. I think I may take Improved Bull Rush as my next feat, with potential eyes towards Rhino Charge. I wear +2 Rhino Hide Armor of Moderate Fortification (reflavored as Dire Bear hide), and the +2d6dmg on charge would come into play much more. thanks again! Well, was just looking further at Unexpected Strike, and the text is as follows: Unexpected Strike (Ex): The barbarian can make an attack
As written, the AoO can only be made on an opponent moving into a threatened square. So, say an opposing wizard is in a threatened square. He takes a 5' step out of reach before casting... Unexpected Strike doesn't allow an attack of opportunity as he steps away? That's really the situation I was envisioning when I read it at first. It doesn't have nearly the same appeal now. The only situation it would seem to work in is if an opponent take a 5' step into range. I guess it would also come into play if the opponent was using Improved Bull Rush or something like that. At higher levels, will this be a large benefit? More and more I'm thinking I should just take another point of Increased DR... Thanks guys.. that's how I was reading it as well, but I can hope :P Figured it would be overpowered if it worked that way. And yeah, I have Strength Surge. It's really dynamite At 10th my rage powers are (have 1 extra from feat) Guarded Life Reckless Abandon (freaking awesome if you remember to use it) Animal Fury (my Shoanti carries a large rasp and files his teeth around the campfire. Lobbying DM for sharp silver caps as his teeth are ground to nubs over time) Strength Surge Increased DR Unexpected Strike (just turned 10th and 99% sure I'm taking this. Anyone feel strongly that something else would be better? Also was thinking about another stack of Increased DR) Here is the Raging Leaper rage power: Raging Leaper (Ex): When raging, the barbarian adds
If taken, does the barbarian add his level to Acrobatics checks to move through threatened squares without provoking? many thanks in advance! ArchAnjel wrote: Is it possible to add more rows in the character sheet for bonus feats? Sorry it's taken me a while to get back with you. It certainly is possible, and is pretty easy. Once you've created your site with the template, go to the character sheet you want to edit. Click to place the cursor on the last row of feats. At top left of the screen, select Table... Insert Row Below. That's all there is to it! Robert Hawkshaw wrote:

There are going to be a lot of jaws dropping of people who have not read the books as things go along. While it's unorthodox for an author to kill off so many favorite characters, it's downright unheard of in television. There will be a ton of people saying, "oh something will happen to save _________. There's no way they'd...OH MY GOD!
Viserys is being played so perfectly...I hate him so much lol. That actor might get punched walking down the street from someone's subconscious memory that he's a slimeball. Can't wait to see him get "crowned" Knoq Nixoy wrote:
Yeah, the matte painting is really wonderful. The lead on it is Damien Mace, who has worked on things like Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Prince of Persia, etc. http://damienmace.blogspot.com/ This is not his work, but a reel showing the extent to which virtual sets can be used now on projects with budgets a fraction of the size that would have been necessary a few years ago. They're doing significant matte painting and compositing on weekly network shows these days (as shown in the links below), so when something like Game of Thrones comes along where 1)they have even more money and time and 2)many of the artists are probably big fans of the book series, you better bet they're gonna knock it out of the park visually. Good acting, excellent characters, and a very interesting story. So far, my favorite character is Tyrion. Absolutely.. Peter Dinklage has done an awesome job so far.. I've always admired his ability to, despite his smaller physical stature, command a scene and even intimidate when it's called for. Gotta love this classic scene from Elf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02572EyOIzQ jlord wrote: How do I get it so that my players can post to the website? While you're logged in, go to the top right where it says More Actions. At the bottom of the list you should see Site Permissions. You can invite your players from there. You can also set whether your site is visible to the public or only to people you invite. I've actually been re-reading over the last week, and have changed my opinion somewhat from earlier in the thread. I agree that Tyrion is not being characterized quite as accurately as I had thought before, and neither is Dany or Vicerys for that matter. But then again, the episodic television format really doesn't have the luxury of incredibly nuanced characterization that the novels do. TV has to basically present the viewers (most of whom will not have read the books) with somewhat familiar archetypes to start. Then, as things go on, contrary character quirks can be introduced and will be taken note of more easily by the viewer. It would be much worse if movies had been made, and I don't think movies could have been successful in even approximating the books. The Lord of the Rings was able to pull it off because the standard archetypes applied...hell, it's what the standard archetypes were based on. Given the limitations of the format, I'm still pleased with the show so far, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's episode! They also have to establish characters MUCH more quickly on television. So, in his first scene they let viewers know in no uncertain terms that Tyrion is a quick-witted, drunken lecher. And are you certain that at least a similar scene didn't happen (although maybe not at Winterfell)? I haven't read the books in a while. At any rate, quite a bit of time in the books was spent establishing his drinking and whoring. On the tv show they don't have the luxury of time, and occasionally have to show instead of telling. Similarly, in a single scene they were able to show Viserys as cold and ambitious and showed Dany as rightly terrified and completely dominated by her brother. I know she got into a scalding hot tub in the book as well, but I wonder if it might have also been visual foreshadowing of a certain resistance to heat... All things considered, I don't think the compromises they made harmed the story's integrity. Kryzbyn wrote:
If anything, the t.v. version is a little tamer. Where those themes are addressed in the books, though, it's relevant to the story. It's not like there are porno interludes for the sake of vulgarity or something. I occasionally make tokens myself, and creating a comprehensive downloadable set could make for a good community project. Although, it would be limited to images on the blog and in the Community Use package. Since I just make mine for personal use, between the Paizo blog, PDF's (thanks to Paizo for not flattening their PDF images) and Google searches, I have as comprehensive an image library of monsters as I can imagine ever needing. A quick run through Photoshop, TokenTool, or something similar and a quick print onto card stock and I've got the exact tokens needed for a given encounter. And, if I want, I can mark directly on them and print new ones for the next session. And, for anyone who prefers circular tokens, there are single-hole circle punches made mainly for scrapbooking that work well. I've seen them up to 3". You can find them for around 10 dollars or less. I've occasionally made stand-up tokens as well, and actually have a PDF of 12 blank medium-size (1"base) standups you can download at https://sites.google.com/site/mgbeach/files/12BlankMinis.pdf. The Photoshop PSD file is available as well at https://sites.google.com/site/mgbeach/files/BlankMini.psd Actually, just remembered that I've got a PDF of spell area-of-effect templates I made online as well at https://sites.google.com/site/pathfindertemplate/the-story/library/SpellAre aTemplates.pdf Made a few minor updates, mainly corrections of typos that were brought to my attention and scaling of a few table cells. Every little bit helps though :) Not getting much contact regarding it anymore, so people are either not using it or are finding it about to their liking.. either way, it's there if you want to play around with it :P One thing that people might be interested in is Google's Shared Spaces. Basically, they took the applets from Wave and made them individually available and shareable. You can embed them into your Google Site as well! Very cool stuff. Just exploring this myself, and can't really include it as part of the template since that would have my account linked to all the shared spaces used. But check out this page for a list of the gadgets available.. http://sharedspaces.googlelabs.com/gallery/ You can add them to your Site by going to Edit Page... Insert... More Gadgets... Add Gadget By URL and paste the URL from that site above after you create a shared space. Sorry if that's confusing! One thing that people might be interested in is Google's Shared Spaces. So I figured I'd let everyone in the play-by-post forums know about the template if they don't already. I've been using Google Site Builder for some time now, mainly to make sites for my various play-by-post and home campaigns. I've made my site template available for any of you who would like to give it a go. Google has done a great job of making a powerful yet simple website building tool; and better yet, it's free! You can check it out here If you have a Google ID and you are logged in, you should be able to click a button at the top right of that page to create your own site from the template. If you don't already have a Google ID (ie, Gmail account) it's quick and free to sign up at https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount. Well, where it would be worth it would be the ability to embed the paid room in an iframe on the Google site. If you don't mind going to the chatzy site, I don't seem much of a reason to get a paid account. Also, paying gets rid of the ads, but they are not obtrusive or offensive anyway As far as the map goes, shouldn't the purpose of the author's map really be to give the cartographer what he or she needs to make the published map? It seems like a lot of people are citing the map as one of the few problems they see with this entry. Two very conspicuous exceptions are the cartographers themselves, who LOVE it. It gives them all the information they need while at the same time letting their imaginations run wild creatively. So, with that in mind, I think anyone giving a mark against this entry for the map might want to reconsider. As I understand it, the purpose of the contest is to determine which entrant is most likely to deliver a design that will yield a great published module. In that light, this entry is tops in my book. Thanks! And as for chat, check out http://www.chatzy.com/ It's easy to set up a free chat room there, and you just give out the url to your players and they can easily join right in. The free version does not allow you to embed the chatroom in an iframe on the google site, but they have a premium membership that eliminates ads, gives you more features, and does let you embed it in the google site. Depending on which option you go with, the premium membership is between 2 and 3 dollars a month. Just let me know if you have any more questions! 1.I actually went back and forth on whether to include a house rules section or not. As you keep playing with it, you'll see how easy it is to add new pages, and the final idea was that anyone who wanted that could add it relatively easily. I wanted to keep it to elements that I thought everyone would use and could then customize from there. 2.The Library page is for exactly the purpose of uploading things like maps and handouts. 3.I'm not sure how that's happening, and I haven't been able to replicate the issue. Once you change the header on each page to the character's name, it should then show up that way in the nav bar indefinitely. That's where the nav bar gets its information on what to display. The only think I can think of is that it might be some cache or cookie issue with your browser. Thanks for taking the time to bring those things up, and I'm definitely glad you're finding some use for the template. If you think of anything else just let me know! Thanks. Runnetib wrote:
