DM Dave wrote: Camris' swing just doesn't have enough omph and bounces harmlessly off the enemy's armor. Seeing the savage attacks on their leader, the other dwarves leap to his defense. One of them swings at Camris and strike just above the halfling's head, sending sparks from the stone. Hoever, another is more skilled and lands a powerful blow in Camris' chest. 14 damage Two more swing at Visakiel, one of whom hits him squarly in the arm. 7 damage
Khismia is up
Diviha
Visakiel
*flumph*
*gurgle*
"It's gotta work this time..."
Camris swings as mighty a blow as he can.
To hit:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
That's the third 7 in a row. I think it's time to play roulette.
When it gets to Camris' turn
Camris says a quick prayer to Erastil and swings his sword at the black clad one.
Attack roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Damage roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
OK. How in the Nine Hells did I get the exact same rolls? :P
"Oh wait, this is a real fight."
Camris swings wide with his longsword and nearly hits Khismia.
Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Camris looks at the group, embarrassed.
"Oh, sorry, I shouldn't bring my issues with this guy..."
Camris kicks Vissakiel in the shin.
"...out in the open for everyone to see."
Camris looks puzzled for a second, then turns to Vissakiel.
"Hey, watch where you're stepping, you big...meanie!"
"I didn't even know I went through a portal. They weren't behind me as far as I knew, but I did get lost and I'm easy to follow, at least my mom *sniff* always said that I was as easy to find as an elephant parade, whatever that means."
"I hope it's not Hellknights!"
Stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Evidently, Camris is still a little out of sorts from his journey.
Camris blushes at Diviha's words, then he turns to Vissakiel.
"I was in a place Lady Janiven invited us to. She put out this wonderful spread of food. The cheeses were superb, I must say. Then she got quiet, then agitated, then things just went crazy as some poor human child was dragged in by a sorta demon woman, who was nice anyway, you can't just judge people by appearances, that's what my *sniff* mother always told me. I followed everyone down into the basement, and I made sure the boy could make it too, I didn't want him to get into trouble along with the rest of us, because we were trying to fight to help the people of Westcrown, which the Hellknights don't like. I heard a whoosh and the next thing I knew I was in this cave and I found Mistress Khismia, who I would have helped if I hadn't been so disoriented. I'm really days away from Westcrown? How odd, well at least I can help you while I make my way back, what's going on here?"
Thanks!
"I didn't realize Westcrown had such an extensive underground. That's where I was escaping from before I ran into Mistress Khismia."
"OK. I think we've escaped from the bad guys...Master Ben...Mistress Tenze...Master Grachius..."
Camris blinks his eyes and looks at the assembled group.
"Hullo, I'm Camris Findlespur. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Thanks for that.
Lembas bread, anyone?
Camris provides whatever help he can to the boy so he can limp more quickly. He looks at Loba as he passes.
If you're in trouble too, then you need to come with us. I don't want to have your blood on my hands.
Oh, my!
<Rushes over to ensure the boy is OK>
Heal check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Perception check: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2
Master Grachius, is there something wrong with your meal? You seem to be upset.

"Good show! The small folk are with us. I take it as a lucky sign, master Zareth." Tenze growls, sounding a bit annoyed. "'Small folk' might offend some of us. We're just like 'big folk'..." She moves her fingers to indicate sarcastic quotation. "...except a bit littler. There's no need to single us out." <Hides a smile>
Mistress Tenze, I'm sure he meant that with respect.
Sense Motive:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Lady Janiven, I'd very much like to meet someone who was around before things went...bad.
Oh, dear. I thought you were the leader of the organization. Can you tell us a little about him?
I am with you, Lady Janiven. Not to the extent of Master Grachius, mind, but the idea of freeing Westcrown from tyranny is appealing.
I'm still in. :)
Grachius Alazario wrote: Davi The Eccentric wrote: Well, it looks like our old Bard and Fighter showed back up. More like woke up... After kneeling before our NPC all that time, I passed out from hunger and thirst. When I woke up there were more people arriving. <Drags Master Ben back to the table>
Oof! There you go. I'll get you something to drink and eat. We can't have you in this shape if we need to start our work for Lady Janiven today.
Loba wrote: Tenzekila Brushketel wrote: Benicio Del Espada wrote: Make that four! I still want to play. Just didn't check back for a long time. Ready when you are! Great, hope we still have enough room! Okay, of the original cast, it does seem like you are still missing the monk. Does that mean Loba is in? If not, I'm fine with that and will place her on a shelf as an arrow to be drawn quickly in the future when the time is appropriate.
I hope so. I'm good with keeping her in the game. Nameless was going to allow an extra character when he was GMing.
Oh, yeah. Sorry for the "gender confusion" of my previous post. :)
Welcome, gentlemen! Please help yourself to any of the delightful food Lady Janiven provided for us. You may be the ones she's been waiting for so patiently.
Heck yeah! Thanks Warforged!
There, there, Master Ben. Have hope. If we're patient this situation will clear up soon enough.
Rakless wrote: Benicio Del Espada wrote: I was digging the characters already. Guess we'll just have to be patient. Nameless said he was busy at work, but would have more time later. *Bump*
I hope Nameless is okay. Agreed!
Grachius Alazario wrote: Bump... Until I get a response from a certain NPC or something major happens, I will remain kneeling. That's going to hurt!
Dave Young 992 wrote: Tenzekila Brushketel wrote: A bump. Let's keep it on the first page! :)Ben lets out a large burp.
"Oh, that was inappropriate! Pardon me!" "Not inappropriate at all, Master Ben. It lets the person who prepared the meal know that you are pleased with it."
Camris belches and smiles.
Tenzekila Brushketel wrote: "Wait, the food was for us?" She sounds surprised. "I figured it was for other guests." Camris blushes. "I should have noticed that you weren't eating anything, Miss Tenze. This meeting has me so distracted."
He then grabs some cheese and fruit and puts it on Tenze's plate.
"We should save some of this delicious food and drink for the other guests. Even if they are being rude to our hostess by arriving late."
Tenzekila Brushketel wrote: Rakless wrote: Mossi Durren wrote: "Indeed, devils bring order, maybe not good but they like our country now has order. Not every thing has a hiding devil behind it. Now could we get to the matter at hand and leave matter of state to others?" "I think she means for us to make this state a better one, something we can all agree on." Rakless stroked his beak thoughtfully. "It does seem at times as though this city's perfect order is merely a tool for more...industrious...varieties of evil. To paraphrase something our wizard friend said earlier, there's always a loophole." She nods. "Indeed. I'd just like to know what we're supposed to do about this." Camris leans over to Tenze and whispers, "One thing at a time, my friend."
Grr! I've been using "Janiver" instead of "Janiven".
Speaking of no clue: 11+6 = 17.
"Lady Janiven, I don't have Master Grachius' conviction, but I want to hear what you propose. Time, unfortunately, does seem to be of the essence."
Camris pulls his sling out. I wish I had prepared myself as well as Master Ben. I hope everyone is nervous for no reason. Still...
Grachius Alazario wrote: Turning to Camris, “There is no tragedy in my past worth me putting to song, accept maybe… my rather late discovery of theater. Ah, to have discovered it at an earlier age…”
"Well, Master Grachius, that is a tragedy of sorts. I am hoping Lady Janiver will shed some light on what we have in common, but she seems distracted at the moment."
Grachius Alazario wrote: Tenzekila Brushketel wrote:
She snorts. "Indeed. A gnome, a bunch of humans, a halfling, and a tengu? What do we have in common?"
Well, are each of you performers such as I? I can already picture as least two plays for such as us. "Fascinating, Master Grachius. Alas, I am no performer; I'm merely a humble miller's son. Perhaps we have each suffered a tragedy in our pasts? Something that drives us to want to help Westcrown?"
18+6=24 (I'll never get another roll like that during the PbP)
In between bites of bread and cheese: "I'm very pleased to meet you Master Ben, Master Grachius, and Miss Mossi. I must say Lady Janiver has called together a rather eclectic group of...folk."
Camris smiles broadly as he looks over at Lady Janiver. Then, his mood changes to one of concern.
"Lady Janiver, are you expecting someone else to join us? I hope they have a good reason for being late. My mother, bless her soul, always impressed upon me the need for good manners."
"Tenze, from talking to you these past weeks, I know your passion for improving conditions in Westcrown. I'm willing to look past motivations and some methods to make sure life improves in our city. I hope you can, too, at least until we help Lady Janiver."
Camris then gives her a tentative smile.
"Well, mom *choke* always told me to accept hospitality."
Camris surreptitiously wipes a sleeve across his eyes and pulls out a chair for Tenze.
"After you, Miss Tenze. By the way, Lady Janiver only told me that she was arranging a meeting of like-minded individuals to help Westcrown. I couldn't turn down an offer like that."
Rakless wrote: Camris Findlespur wrote: After hearing Rakless's comment, Camris thinks It's hard to read the bird, but I think he's joking. Surely, everyone knows that we are here to help Lady Janiver bring order to Westcrown.

What most would mistake as a sandy-haired, rosy-cheeked child makes his entrance into the tavern. His eyes, at first appearing impossibly sad, light up when he sees his friend, Tenze.
"How delightful! I didn't know you would be involved in this venture. I would have thought Lady Janiver would mention she approached a dear friend of mine. No matter--it is great to see you, Tenze."
He continues to chatter away at his gnome friend, and is singularly impressed with the tengu. At times, during his idle conversation, he looks around to appraise the others in the tavern.
Perhaps I can introduce Tenze to my new friend. I bet Lady Janiven would like her.
I sense that I may start to get some answers about my family's death
I'm gonna be hit-or-miss during the week. My best, and hopefully most consistent, posting will be 10-11:30 PM Eastern Time. If I'm lucky, I will be able to post at lunchtime (12-1).
Tenzekila Brushketel wrote: By the way, she says that she wears her hood low because she had 'an accident' at a young age. OK. I read the personality spoiler, but I got stuck on the hood as meaning something else. Naturally, Camris will be curious about the "accident" but will try to gently coax the details out of Tenze. He'll also "practice" his Gnomish with her.

The Chelaxians can't risk having it closed down in case he takes offense. Fortunately, it is not very popular and were it not for the extreme persistence of the owner, it is certain that it would have had to close down by now.
It is a Good inn, so that's 1 gp. per day.
After "the incident", Camris was taken in by the tavern's owner, and he now lives there, doing odd jobs around the tavern and sleeping in the nearby stables. Camris can usually be seen talking to the horses and feeding them apples. His attempts at conversing with the odd gnome have met with some frustration.
Actually, Tenze is very friendly, though a bit shy. Oops. How about, "His conversations with the odd, but friendly, gnome have provided a welcome distraction from his woes."
