About Caliope Breezekeeper

HISTORY
Caliope was born of violence. Her father, Anselm, was killed when a summoning spell he cast went awry and instead of summoning a benign Air Elemental, he mistakenly summoned an evil Djinni. The Djinni broke free of the summoning and slew her father with a smile, turning upon her mother Caliss and raping her, before tossing her against a wall and ransacking their home. He left and disappeared, but did not realize that her mother was still alive and that he had left something behind in his rampage.
When Caliope was born, her mother's cry of anguish could be heard throughout the Mierani Forest, but despite her origins, Caliss could not hold any ill will towards the blameless child. Growing up, Caliope's Intelligence often meant that she was alone, as the childish games of the other elven children were beneath her learning abilities. She was reading Ancient Elven Script at 2 and was enrolled in school when she was 3, a feat not unheard of, but certainly placing her among the high echelons of Elven Intelligencia. She learned quickly and was soon apprenticed to her father's best friend, a Wizard of modest standing named Darson. He swiftly found that her capacity for learning was vast and also that she held a particular affinity for spells of Air and the power of Storms.
When she was old enough, her mother told her what she had already suspected about her heritage. She accepted the news with calm detachment, but a seed of hate had been planted within her that day that would continue to grow, finally prompting her to set out from her home in the Mierani Forest to try and track down her father and kill him for the wrongs that he inflicted upon her family. Her mother tried to disuade her from this undertaking, but she was adamant in her choice. And so she left her mother and Darson (who had fallen in love with her mother and married her, becoming Caliope's Step-Father), and vowed to return to them once the vile denizen of Air had been slain.

She has been travelling south down the Varisian coast towards Magnimar, when she met another half-breed traveller going in the same direction, a Half-Giant by the name of Theruska. They travelled together for a time until they reached the small town of Sandpoint. During their stay there, the town was attacked by Goblins and they accepted a posting into the town Militia to earn some coin and help protect the vulnerable town from possible further attacks.

APPEARANCE
Caliope is a pale fey-like woman. She has ice blue skin, eyes and hair, often making her look like a ghost. Her features are Elven looking, including her long pointed ears, but because of her complexion it almost appears that her nose blends into her cheeks. She has long dextrous fingers and legs, but her body is not as long as a normal Elf's and so she appears slightly gangly and not quite as tall as most other Elves. Her appearance is sometimes unsettling to others and her aloof manner (unless you can be counted among her friends) somtimes gets on the wrong side of people.
She typically wears either a dress of a hue similar (but slightly darker) to her skin, so as to appear more ethereal and air like, or leather pants and a bright blue shirt, usually with the first three or four buttons undone. In either garb, she wears soft leather boots and delicate leather gloves, both of the same shade as her complexion.
She carries a Quarterstaff that she made herself from the branch of an Ash tree, but rarely uses it in battle.
