Background:
Etienne St. Germain is the only son of the St. Germain family, although he does have a younger sister, Alys. His family have made their name through working in the legal systems of Taldor to advance the cause of justice, however, secretly, they have been devotees of Sarenrae for generations!
Etienne is the first member of his family who is openly a devotee of the Danflower, to his father's chagrin. Serving in the family tradition of working with legal cases, but now he faces discrimination from other noble families, and that has cast a shadow upon the family as a whole. His faith, and oppenness however have won him accord with the common folk of Taldor, however some whisper because of his faith that he's working against the Empire.
Additionally Etienne apprenticed and learned swordsmanship from a Qadiran Paladin, Sir Kazim Al-Nefir. It is this association, for those who know of it, which causes people to question Etienne's faithfulness to the Crown.
Etienne works tirelessly for reform in Taldor's courts, advocating for the downtrodden and those systematicaly oppressed by the traditional Monarchy. He dillidently practices with his scimitar early each morning, before appearing in the courtroom daily.
He came to the attention of Martella Lotheed in arguing an unpopular case for worker's rights in the city, and she began inviting him to social gatherings. While his reputation as a devotee of Sarenrae dogs him through many of these situations, she enjoys seeing him charm and socially disarm those with his passion and integrity.
He has hopes for the future of Taldor, and the elevation of Princess Eutropa to the throne. He's written legal briefs in support of the vote, and his oratory has impressed many common folk to her cause. He dreams of asssuming a noble title of his own, even just that of a Knight to the crown. He seeks to use this prestige to enact legal changes to benefit the populace and ensure a better tomorrow for all Taldans. While also advancing the acceptance of Sarenrae with the upper classes of Taldor.
