I have no idea how much this drawback would be worth and I haven't seen anything like it so I am throwing it up hoping that someone can cost it because I am out of my element here.

-X? RP Theophobia: This race has an intense hatred/fear of deities so great that even after accepting one as there own or needing healing they still suffer the in build desire to reject any divine influences.
Race must take saves against all divine spells that allow them including healing.

-X? RP Insatiable Greed: This race desire for coin and objects of worth is legendary and the suffer tunnel vision when dealing with coin. -4 to sense motive checks when someone is offering them coin.

Sweet as man. thank I will take a look but is there an offline version for the non wifi guy?

I have seen alot of similar arguments in the past regarding this idea. One thing that was pointed out to me was the difference between [EVIL] and evil. [EVIL] is a tangible force in Pathfinder and it's ancienter Dungeons and Dragons in the same way something is positively or negatively charged; that type of evil is what is the make up of demons and devils and such, however then there is evil; which is subjective, take for instance the case of the mind flayer; wile they maybe [EVIL] if you took that away would they still be evil? Yes they need brains of sentient creatures to survive and reproduce but that is simple biology.

So first one must separate these two things which is not easy at the best of times, after all we have never seen anyone argue over alignment have we? First there is subjective evil actions. Killing is wrong; this statement seems to be at the core of most human civilizations the exceptions are what proves the rule; unless defending yourself; for your nation and so on. Wile the exceptions become increasingly convoluted the core premise remains. This however is subjective. Say for instance we came from a different animal group. One that focused on mass breeding we were born in clutches. As we all skittered off to avoid being eaten by our siblings we then grew and developed, after which we found ourselves competing for resources due to over population something that can happen quite quickly for us so we simply eat some of the members of society until equilibrium is restored.

An alien outlook to be sure however these is biological, if in D&D we would put the label evil on this. Why? Because it is a quick fix, goblins are evil as are orcs and many other races; easy done. So these are subjective evils, not tangible to degrees. So to destroy an 'evil' race is indeed evil why because we are imposing our wills in the most aggressive of ways. “I have seen your people kill people before so I will wipe you out” would we tolerate such people in reality ;even Godwin is looking at this and saying reducing to one very quickly.

However then comes the [EVIL] side of the argument, beings of pure malice, rage and hatred such as Devil and Demons who are literally evil manifested into the real. Well I am unsure how Galeran works in the regards of the realms beyond prime plane. So I can not comment; as to that however, with Planescape it was said that the planes themselves were evil if you wiped out all of the demons you would simply become them and give rise to a new kind.

But ultimately this leads to this question, is the destruction of evil good. One at first glance would think yes ofcorse however with closer examination look upon this. The elimination of greed and envy would seem like good things yes? How many stories of greatness come from theses corner stones? Inventions undiscovered, products unmade and children unborn. The elimination of evil as we know it would simply spawn new evils. Less ones until ultimately we are no long what makes us human and that is rather cthulian if you ask me.

Hey I don't lurk as much as I used to here but I just had a thought and wondered if anyone else had it or if someone has done it.
Has anyone made a hyper linked character sheet PDF with the pathfinder PDF's... So say if you right power attack in feats and you click on it will load up the core rules feat section page 131. Seems like it could be good really good infact.

I have no idea of how hard or easy this would be but I just wanted to know if anyone else had the idea and ran with it, if they did could I get a link please?

Thank you for everyones time.

Hmm that is slightly disheartening.
I hoped to go through pazio but such is life.
I may still I would prefer to wear some cost if it gets me everything I want and builds up a company I like.
Thank you very much for your time.

Due to some unfortunate events I am able to get books from a retailer here in Australia.
Also Walrus and Carpenter are less than great suppliers.
But I can not do something that I would like to see.
How much delivery cost would be.
If there was some sort of function to show me how or someone could walk me through the steps so I could see how much it would be without making a purchase I would be very grateful.
I just don’t want to be spending twice as much just for delivery, I am afraid as good as your books are a double there normal prices it hits my budget a little too hard.

Thank you for your time.

No you shouldn't punish them but you should challenge them.

Agreed fully. I'm not sure you've read through the thread or examples, but these bits are clarified a bit further in. What I meant was, this idea the GM should go out of there way to make them suffer for daring to have something less than 10. In the threads I listed as examples, people were advocating making up special penalties to spite these players with; such as automatically setting the starting attitudes towards those PCs lower, in addition to the normal penalties, or basically ensuring that no matter how much they try, they just cannot engage in social activity with a low charisma.

I actually believe, fully, in the idea of heroes and protagonists who aren't perfect and do have drawbacks, who can overcome these disabilities as they advance. To get a good idea of what I mean, please consider reading this post, this post, this...

I get that some are not quite in touch with there inner GM.

But as for stats.

Erhm.
Perhaps it is because I played the game back when we insistently referred to it as AD&D to make the point that it was advanced.
But stats show your raw potential (Straight from the book right there.) this means it is what backs everything that your character does.
One could argue with the Forest Gump character he had skill points everywhere to off set his intelligence or that he min/maxed like a mo fo so that he could get the best commoner ever.
None of that matters what matters is at the start of the campaign this person said with the way they used there stats that this, this right here is my handy cap.

Sure people f$+* it up.
Skills verse stats and someone has worked hard at a skill they have overcome there handy cap.
However in that cavalcade of threads there is one thing I noted the fighter talking about great hooters.
And how a charisma 18 character would never do that.
No a charisma 18 character would get away with that.
But that is a triviality I think perhaps the focus should be on his next sentince which is at the core of the debate.

By rewarding people with dump stats, you punish those that don't.

I agree the skills show a progress tackling of the challenge presented by the characters 'disability' with whatever there 'dump' stat is....

Anyway before I go and discuss further on any of these problems it seems that you agree with me on most of what I will say your problem is with a single question rather an a series of them.
Why are GM's antagonistic?
And how they justify it.

Ask them why the level of detail is important.
Another suggestion tell them that they should add there own detail.
Beyond that I have no idea mainly cause I am not sure how bad/the detail of the problem I know that's a little ironic but still.

The only reason I can think they want this level of detail is because of a sense of escapism.
You know this world they visit is real, really real.
For instance they want to feel as if they could be there smelling the dank and musty smell of the dungeon as the they stroke there fingers along the wall, cold moss to rough sand paper like rock where the moss does not take hold and setting your footing with each step against the wetness.
To open your eyes to a lethal heart beat as your chest cages a beast within so that you may meet the one in front of you.

It's a seductive notion of having a second heroic life.
And if you felt you had one.
Would you not want to breath in every detail?
I would think so...

But this just guess work on my part.
Take of it what you will.

5) 1,001 ways to make sure warriors can't have nice things.

Almost all of these things people have made a conscious decision to do.
Taking 1. A through G these should be major parts of there characters nothing should ever just be 'dumped' this is playing purely mechanically which is fine for some people but that's not what role players do that's what roll players do.

No you shouldn't punish them but you should challenge them.

Number 3.
I know someone who complains about this constantly.
If you choose a paladin just like if you choose a cleric.
You should be challenging that characters ethics.
If your player takes this character concept they are doing so knowing dogma of the concept.
Think of every great movie you know of with a holy knight type character.
Even take a look at movie with cops in it.
What does it all focus around.
Ethics.
How much easier it is for the other side.
The challenge of being a good guy and the pay off.

If you do not challenge your player when they take this your saying I don't care what your pick.
Your character concept won't ever have tailored challenges.
Now honestly who would want that.

Number 4.
Spell casters are by far the most powerful among the classes.
I don't want to argue this because I know I am right and I know that any argument will be pointless but if you wish to argue that is fine.
Players should have a challenge for there choices.
If you don't as I said there is little point in making any choice.
I often hand wave components but if one is rather odd make them work for it.
Make them enjoy the spell they earned.
If you just give people things they don't see any value in them.

I understand what your saying.
Your complaining about some GM's antagonistic nature.
But if your player write in his back story he will never harm a human, child or the elderly something like that.
If you never challenge that you know what you have done?
You have cheated your player.
Because they have said right there.
This is my morals, work with this and you have automatic hook for me.

When a player does something and nothing happens you show that, that action has no meaning.
In the world every action has a reaction.
And in a fantastical world should not those actions reactions be much more magnified?
These are the player characters they should have a spot light on them.
And when your under the spot light all of your defects come out no matter the amount of make up you use.

I would really like some help if you could on a design idea I am working with.
I have much of the outline worked out but I wanted show some people get some ideas and some feedback there is a bit too it...
So on with the show!

Idea.
Trinity.
A connection between three characters that creates supernatural effects in it's binding.
Containing three members which are known as Body, Spirit and Mind.
Each of these three members represent one of the aspects of the Inner, Outer and Beyond.
They act as enforces of the grand convergences will.

Design Goal.
The idea of this is to create a super class that you throw over the top of existing classes without a template fueled feats keeping a simple to keep track of 'super class'.
The primary goal ofcorse was to make a three man party not only functional but as powerful as a four or five man party.
Another one of the side effects is that the party becomes extremely co-operative.

Background.
The trinity's are enforces of a religious organization, The Grand Convergence in my campaign which could be described as a military, religious, political party for short.
The once controlled the capital of the northern region.
When they were in control, trinity's were the Gestapo/SWAT to the cities guards.
So they have a record of being bad asses and some screen time in the campaign.

The grand convergence is the catholic church to Christianity.
In short there not it's only agency but they are the most recognized epically in this capital city.
The long and the short of it is they worship the light.
And they believe that you can get to heaven by being pure in all things.
Inside, outside and beyond.
Mind, body and Spirit.
And these guys are the ultimate representation of this.

Crunch and then fluff.
I am just putting the crunch up top and the flavour down after each piece.

Trinity [link]
If you become unconscious, the other two members of your trinity become unconscious.
If you die, the other two members of trinity die.
Empathic link. [supernatural ability] [immediate]
Three times per day, you may use one of your members abilities, saves, skills or use there senses for three rounds with the usual restrictions.
[example] if you use smite, from your friends abilities, one of these uses is gone.
[example] if you use sneak attack, you must still be flanking (or other condition) to use the ability.
Also if you form a triangle with your trinity around a target your considered flanking.

Once you take the oaths of the trinity your lives are inextricable bound forever.
You have become one in three parts the purest representation of your devotion to the light.
And you now will forever become it's champion.

Becoming a Trinity.[bigger]
You must pass the trial of three.
Be a worshiper of the light.
Mind selects the Body member, Body selects the Spirit member.
Be level three or higher.

[bigger]Share ability [Trinity Feat][bigger]
Prerequisites: Member of a trinity.

Select an ability such as smite, rage, sneak attack or channel.
The other members of your trinity many now use this ability with all of the usual restrictions.
If limited by number of uses, they take from yours. [example] smite.
If limited by conditions, they must use those conditions. [example] sneak attack
If limited by trigger, they must be triggered. [example] evasion.

Your trinity shares your knowledge, instinct and skills on a level not understood by outsiders.

[bigger]Share save [Trinity Feat]
Prerequisites: Member of a trinity.

Select a save all members of your trinity now use that save.

Your discipline now becomes the trinity's discipline.

Share skill [Trinity Feat][bigger]
Prerequisites: Member of a trinity.

Select a feat all members of your may now use that feat even if they do know have prerequisites.

Your work and focus now becomes the trinity's work and focus.

[bigger]Share Skill [Trinity Feat][bigger]
Prerequisites: Member of a trinity.

Select a skill all members of your trinity now use your skill and always count as assisted.
(Note: this may not be used to select any knowledge(s) or perception)

[bigger]Share Spell [Trinity Feat]
Prerequisites: Member of a trinity.

This spell now effects not only you but all members of your trinity.
[Design note]
I have a lot of different problems with this I am unsure how to do it exactly.
Should it be select a spell on there spell list now this spell always effects them.
I am certain if it is a static ability it will become broken far to easily.
If I make it a meta magic feat how much should it increase the spell level by one or two.
I am pretty certain that more than would be over kill.

Body over mind [Trinity Feat]
Prerequisites: Body aspect of a trinity.

You no longer have a hit point total but a hit point pool.
Add yours and all other members hit points together and track them on your sheet.
All hits count towards this pool.
Positive and negative energy effects that would effect more than one member now only the pool once.

Your link transends the normal bonds of life, you can not only take on the the other members pain and angish but also their wounds.

Physical Presence
Prerequisites: Body over mind.

As a full round action you may use this ability which is like a casting a spell in all respects.
Everyone that can see you, can no longer sense other members of your trinity unless they pass a perception check equal to 10 plus the total of number of trinity feats in your trinity.
Once seen though this will no longer effect the subject(s) for another three days.

You trick the senses of the subjects of your ritual to see the world as you do and they should according to your doctrines.

Purity of body [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Physical Presence

You gain damage reduction evil equal to the number of trinity feats the trinity has.
[Design Note] I am very unsure of this it may become far to powerful.
I was considering it also be chaos.
Another thought I had is DR/- for every three or just DR/evil for every three.
But I am not sure any ideas on this I would greatly appreciate.

Your purity becomes your shield.
A shield which you share with all of your trinity to defend the light.

Pool of Knowledge [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Mind aspect of a trinity.

Your now track all knowledge skills on your sheet.
Who ever had the highest ranks now becomes your ranks.
All members of your trinity now use your knowledge(s) and always counts as assisted as do you.

Your trinity shares it's thoughts in a literal sense, what one knows all know.
With concentration you think as one.

Through others eyes. [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Pool of Knowledge

You now track the perception skill on your sheet.
Who ever had the highest ranks now becomes your ranks.
All members of your trinity now use that skill and always count as assisted.
In addition you now always use the other member sense in addition to your own.
If one members sense is disabled (Blinded, deafened and so on) he can still use other members senses.

You sense become linked suffused together.
See as one.
The smallest error becomes a gaping hole as you see the same image over lapped.
Echos of sounds, winds of touch and explosions of taste.
For a normal person, madness.
For you and yours, sanity.

Purity of Mind [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Through others eyes.

Your trinity including you are now immune to mind effecting abilities and spells.

Your purity becomes your crown.
A crown with which you share with all of your trinity to rule the light.

Bonds of the spirits. [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Mind aspect of a trinity.

You now have telepathy with your trinity.

Your bond becomes beyond that of the mortal and you now speak as the light does without words.

See bonds. [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: Bonds of the spirits.

You can now detect bonds between individuals and other individuals, groups, organizations or gods.
As per the the detect magic spell.
You see them as strings connecting one person to another or to a location.
First round. The presence or absence of bonds.
Second round. The number of connections.
Third round. The types of connections, individualist, group, organization or divine.
Fourth round. intensity of connection
Some ribbons go off in many directions with the divine or ideals.

Having seen the bond that you share with your brothers in your trinity you can now see the bonds that other share.

Purity of Spirit. [Trinity feat]
Prerequisites: See bonds.

[Design note] I am completely stumped on this one.
ANY ADVICE would be welcome!

Restrictions.
I can see this quickly getting out of hand so I had some idea for restrictions.
And one of my players gave me a restriction incidentally.
First was something called empathy fuel.
This is a Trinity feat that allowed the selection of two other Trinity feats.
Without it you could not select a Trinity feat.
But it didn't restrict to a single individual for example.

Body: Empathy Fuel| Share Feat
Mind: Empathy Fuel| Share Skill
Spirit: Share Spell| Share Save

The other was brought up by my player in not understanding how the mechanics worked.
He suggested that you use it by one member takes a feat and can access other peoples abilities.
Example.

Rogue Mind: Share ability smite.
Paladin Body: Share ability sneak attack
Cleric Spirit: Share ability improved evasion

And finally I think I have something much better.
I have been watching a lot of extra credits and I was watching a show about choices.
So rather than have them go and have an artificial choice between numbers.
I would would do the 'fallout' mechanic of do you want to see things explode more or carry more stuff.
So I designed something which represents there growing connection to each other and away from humanity.
A humanity chart.
For every three feats they have a new aspect of there trinity makes the physical reflect there internal change.

Humanity chart.
3 Eye colour all becomes the same, you all gain a tick of each other member.
6 Hair colour all becomes the same, you all gain a habit of each other member.
9 Height becomes the same, you all speak similarly.
12 You become completely bald, determining gender or race is impossible.
15 Lack understanding of hostility levels, (as per chart) you speak in stereo.
18 You skin become lightly luminous, change type to outsider native.
21 Light pours from your eyes and mouth change type to outsider, you no longer understand emotion.
24 DR/10 darkness (immune unless in darkness) need 8 hours of day light or equivalent or starve.
27 All stats become highest among group, immortal so long as receives day light.

Also there is restrictions on classes that can enter certain area.
Mind: Bard, Monk, Rogue, Wizard.
Body: Barbarian, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger.
Spirit: Cleric, Druid, Monk.
That’s just the core stuff others are allowed but I just wanted you to get the idea.

Conclusion
If you could give me any feedback on any of the stuff but especially the feats that would be fantastic!
Thank you for reading through what you did.

Yeah I thought it would be really fun to play I haven't gotten through it yet with my group there has been a little bit of a change up a guy has had a kid and some other things happened...
Anyway.
I am wondering one thing above all else.
Is it pathfinder society or is it generic adventure?
And thanks again for your help.

Hey guys!

Well it been a long time since I have been on these forums you know that whole life thing...
It gets in the way at times.

Anyway.
It has been ages since I have played pathfinder society so I was wondering.
I have an idea for a submission.
But I am not sure it is very pathfindery.
I am using it today in my own game but I am just not seeing an Indiana Jones movie about this idea.
So here is the premise.

Pathfinders went to retrieve a MacGuffin in Absolom but the government is getting a suspicious on this one, some of the noble houses send along some guards and of there own experts into this underground labyrinth under the city where MacGuffin is located.
Problem is that they cause a cave in.

So it's meant to be a trap heavy adventure with big boss with a difference.

So you have a whole lot of traps and hazards that are not mechanical (man made) or magical in nature, just results of the cave in.
So people can use a variety of skills to get around these.
Rather than just perception/disable device.
And some cave/sewer dwelling 'monsters' for kicks.
With the people being the bread crumb trail to the big bad with a difference.

So at the end rather than facing off against this huge bad guy the bad guy is the trapped people.
So it's not just lead them back the way you came it's unstable that's the first thing (or caved in depending on how things went)
And these guys have been arguing on what to do.
It's a Mexican stand off with three different sides.
Two noble house guys and the pathfinders.
Each of them want to try different ways of getting out but each is convinced that the other peoples way will kill them.
It was at the boiling point of people coming to blows over it.
People are all cabin fever and no one way looks best and with everyone's alter motives via secret slips at the start of the game things just got a whole lot more interesting.

I recon it could be really interesting but on the other hand like I said it's not very Indiana Jones movie.
So you recon I should write something up?
It would only be a side project if I did nothing serious but I just want to know is the idea worth perusing?

Hey guys if you need mini or another GM please do tell I have quite the collection and plan to get a hotel there and I am only 100k away so taking them in car is no probs.

So you guys need anything do tell please.

What would you say role playing penalties would be points wise?
Such as ostracism, or other similar major penalties.
The reason I ask this is because to try and make my races for my homebrew system apealling I have made there abilites powerful however they often have trouble 'role-ing' due to their race.
Mind you this is just my setting and is very heavy role play but just wanted to know what you thought?

I think it can all boil down to that other rule about bullying.
I mean what is it?
It's kinda like that whole thing of art verses porn.
I know it when I see it.

Of course, one could be an evil DM, and run one adventure, but use the cover of another. Imagine playing a scenario based in a frozen tundra, but seeing a scenario with a crocodile or a chimera on it.

Messing with the players' heads is half the fun of DMing. Keep them guessing!

Or if you really wanted to mess with them you have a rifts cover on it and ask them about thier sagacity.

The greatest evil that which thinks it is doing good.

These people don't wake up each morning and say "Yet again another beautiful morning for evil".
These people believe in there hearts of hearts what there doing is good.

Thats how you make a evil campaign interesting.
These people accept slavery, infact indorse it, why?
Aternatively there other ways to go about it.
Perhaps the misunderstood villian idea, they want to make a coucil to rule over 'this land' why? because they will be better than anyone else who is currently ruling it.
There super geniuses why wouldn't they be better?
I know Godwin's going to come like a lightning bolt from the heavens and kick me in balls for this but, the reason Hitler is really scary is because it didn't take that much.
He was a failed painter and he was living in this place where everything is turning to shiite so he's going to do something about it and at the start people were like YEAH HITLER!

But the most important thing to know about evil campaign is it all about one thing.
Power.
Acquiring and hording it.
More than anyone man should have.

I print the cover just because I am very visual guy.
I play magic the gathering and if I see a card even for a moment I know what it is if it is used often but on the other hand if I am told something which is used in the same frequency I will have to think for a moment.

So for me it's more just the mental thing of having me fire off on all cylinders from the start...
May sound a little silly but as I understand it I am not unique in the whole pictures vs text thing.

Plus even if they do know, I know that jaws is a movie about a shark that kills people.
I even know the end.
Whats the bet the I'll enjoy it if I watch it?

Or even the something more recent the dark knight, I have watched I know what happens yet each time I watch it I still enjoy it.
And this is something that is static.
I can't see how an adventure could be worse with cover art...

PS: Calador, are you sure you've got her faction right?

It looks to me like she's Taldoran, not Cheliax.
You might have to fix that before you've made 10 posts.

Like I said before on the whole weapon thing I think I am going to bite the bullet and just use an improvised weapon when I must....

But as for the Taldoran thing? I don't see it...
She is the Bride of Lucifer in the pic...
I don't see how you can get much more Chilixian than that.
But country of origin has never been a determining factor in faction, for my characters.

She has accepted her fate but wishes to change the world before she goes.
I think maybe the reason she looks Taldoran to you is because of the finery but I think that anyone can be outfitted in finery, it's just the Taldorans do it more often.

While I can appreciate the flavor here (it does look cool) there just isn't a weapon like that beyond a few feat choices and using an actual violin bow. Because the Society is worldwide and all players need to be on the same even playing field, we can't allow folks to invent new weapons for it.

As for the bard being useless at first level ... hardly. Have you read the PRPG bard? He's pretty versatile right from the beginning.

Alright they have the whole fill any slot thing going for them at first level but when I gamed in my first game, everyone was higher level than me and they were all very min-maxed.

Not an ideal for comparison however thats how my view has been coloured when it comes to that.
So there is not much more I can say on that.

I was simply hoping there was some weapon that you guys had made at some point like I said I only have core and seeker books so I didn't want to simply buy everything thats legal in pathfinder society I simply don't have enough to just do that on the whim of a violin bow.

But thanks I think the pic is pretty cool too.

Hi Caladors, how you doing?

Yeah I am well for the most part.

And yes I am looking forward to GenCon Oz as much as you are.
I hope you found those trailblazer action points more to your liking I know you like a little more system than just craziness like I do.

I will look out for those events coming up, however this time round I am going to try and fit a bit more in with anyhope.
If you need GM's I will lend a hand, I have been trying to get a community going down here but it is a little hard they have fun and sun and, pen and paper just doesn't quite cut it.
But like I said to you before I am very visual guy so I have all of the maps of things printed and laminated for the ones I have done.

It would be good it there was such a weapon as the violin bow in a book and thats why I am asking so I can just buy that book and print that page.
But if their isn't I am just going bite the bullet I think and go improvised weapon.

And thank you for all of the help with the technical side.

P.S I am hoping to bring three characters this time around so that I can mesh with people better.
Ofcorse you remember
Seth Calador, barrister extraordinaire
And now
Marie Corelli, Bride of Asmodeus
and I'll make a first level cleric

I would like to mesh a little better than with the people I was with first time round you know play at the same power level...

First off, great find for the artwork!

While a 'violin bow' may seem like a bit of a stretch I can't argue there's a lot of flavor there. : )

Umm perhaps I should be more clear.

As I understand it the Bow is what is used for the playing of the violin.
So I was thinking perhaps some sort of melee weapon.
Like in the artwork how her bow is dripping blood.

Oh and baron arem heshvaun I know what the rewards are but is there some way I am ment to enter them online?
That is what I was asking sorry for any of the confusion.

And wile I would love to have the causal relationship With James to just say hey look at this picture I found, alas I do not.

sanwah68 would you be able to link what mini that is incase I wish to grab it for this character?

P.S Oh no She is Cheliax, in fact she is promised as bride/sacrifice Asmodeus thus the name and picture (name is Author of The Sorrows of Satan).
But she is sad and is allowed to experince the world for 666 days before returning home and this is all she must do to make the world a better place before leaving

I am not as active as I used to be (such is life) but the board set out and everything is fine all bar three things.
The ability to delete your comments, the ability to edit your comments and the ability to private message people.
I can see how the ability to remove or edit comments would effect the ammount of bandwidth used.
I am a terriable speller, I am often misinformed so the ability to edit and remove comments would be fantastic.

P.S yes I know their there but only for a limited time...

Sorry for thread jacking or whatever it maybe called but I saw Masika's post and knowing that I can't PM him (or anyone...) I am accually trying to get a queensland pathfinder society thing going.

Queensland Pathfinder Society

_metz_, could I say that starting a facebook page is not a bad idea, used to e-mail a whole lot of people that was less than fantastic.
But a place for people to talk about your events and such.

Yeah so...
Thats all I have to say.

Hey I have made more than a few campaigns in my time and I would like to offer some hard earned advice.

One. Do not add to much detail
Your going to put alot of work into the campaign you put in to much work it leads to burn out and you don't want that.

Two. Have lots of skeletons! I do not mean the undead kind...
A skeleton is a something without a lot of detail for example.

Marcó
Marcó is a small town with roughly 2000 people living in the settlement.
It was born from the remnants of soilders and sailor whom washed ashore from a great naval battle.

From those lines people pick up alot of detail.

Now they fly right by, you don't get steamed because there it's a whole three lines of text not alot of effort to put out.
But they want to stay there you, add a place to stay, what the people are like whatever.

Some players are different to others, some maybe very interested in clothes and styles.
Others may not care so they will be more interested in whats the weapon of choice and how do they fight.

Three. Start a wiki!
It sounds like you have some technical prowess so you will do better than me streight up.
But here is why you want one.
You can have everything linked, wtf are McGoons?! oh I will click here, ohhh thats what a McGoon is we fought them last adventure.
An image mapped map (though I can't get that to work...)

It allows everyone access to your infomation.
A book is fine, hey look at my campagin guide, sitting at home on my shelf...
Also this allowes players to add detail to the world.
Don't thwart their efforts ethier because, it shows you what there interested in.

For example, you maybe running a swords and sorcery style game with not nessarily dungeon crawls but backdrop crawl.
Ok your making your way through the jungle ecta.
And then you discover there writing about the personalities and what they did their possiable agendas stuff like that.
You realise they want an intense poltical campagin.

Vice versa or something even more on a tangent.

Four. be a Yes And not a No But.

Follow the players lead, they want the candle maker to be some cool, mob boss who quitely plots from candle store let it be that way.
Honestly your mob guy had a whole family, family thing like literally everyone who worked for him was related to him and he sold people on the black market.

Guess what the candle making mobbester sells people on the black market.
All by themselevs those players discover this amazing hidden world in your campaign.

I am not saying let them run over you but what I am saying is give them alot of lee way.
That off hand comment should get them arrested?

"Those northners sure are dandy folk"
"Ah ah ha ha ha heh he, dandy folk, I get it nice joke, I love dead pan comdey"

They don't know that it should get them arrested.

Five. Consistency and mood are your friend

Whats your story about?
Pathfinder and D&D is about being heroic.
Thats why we have criticals and why the system runs on a D20 because 5% of the time you get to do something funky also known as 1 in 20.

The whole system is a slave to this heroic style of feel.
Your mechanics should also repesent this.

If you have Poltical style campaign have a debts and favour style system.
Ok you owe this many debts to this organization, alright wile performing this task you get a bonus cause your doing soemthing to work off your debt.
Oh then roll your favour verse his influance.
(Keep in mind I am just saying stuff of the top of my head I have no Debt/Favour/Infulance chart worked out)

Even desperation can be fun.
They just defeated X dudes evil cult and have to rest for the night they wake up and he has won the local election in X town where they get Y resource.

But whatever you do, don't change things for the sake of changing them.
That makes people pissed.
People thought they knew something about the world they were getting a handle on things and now you go and change it up.
So if you are to change things have a damn good reason.

Well thats about it but I think, or at least I would like to think I have some soild advice in there.
Good Luck man all the best.

I still can't believe the quibbling going on here.
A sword and board build is never going to be broken with core.

The isssue is not is it broken or isn't it.
That should never be the issue.
Are we having fun?

Thats the issue.

You can rate and power curve all the builds you want.
But that still doesn't mean a thing when it comes down to it.
The core of rules related issue is, is it so powerful that it will effect other peoples level of enjoyment or is it only going to make it more fun for Timmy and Co.

When the rubber hits the road.
Are you having fun?

A sheild was as much a weapon as any other.
shield weapons part one
shield weapons part two
shield weapons part three
shield weapons part four
sheild weapons part five
shield weapons part six
shield weapons part seven

In the recent game 'Dragon Age: Orgins' there is a great repesentation of how shields can be used for weapons and accually categories them as weapons.

Though it's primary use is defence it is also a weapon.
Using a shield as a weapon is much less cheesy than the standard dagger and shield combo.

Historically it is much more realistic to have the axe sword combination which was used by the vikings to pry shields away from thier citims.

Yes I understand the dagger has it's uses but mostly irrlevent in the fighting that adventures undertake.

There are many layers of... though there is a term for this it escapes me at the moment, disconnect from reality to be able to play these games.
Rules must be slaves to the story not the other way around.

If someone wants to fight as a shield fighter whom uses there shield as a weapon great fantastic they are going down the two weapon path great you don't have to go outside of the core book how easy is that.

Shields were as much a weapon as any other anyone who thinks that is cheesy well perhaps they should watch or play the above that may change there mind.

P.S yes I understand dragon age has a seperate tree for two weapon and shield combat, however the shield tree does not give you attacks in pathfinder.

Hey I have a related question I have a sneaking feeling or sinking some might say that one of my players that played once in one of the open events I ran won't register on this website...

And I seem to have trouble knowing if I have correctly entered my event I know I did do something wrong because I let a player play in an event that I shouldn't have but I did not know this at the time.
(They had played in the scenario before but made a new character and did not know about the update to the rules.)

Is anyway to know if you have enter an event correctly?

Wow the orginal fall rules seem better to me...
Btw Rezdave you explain it with alot of grace.

Thanks Al Rigg for the document.

Most proberly been brought up but the kings champion, not general or anything like that just literally the best fighter in the kingdom

The power behind the throne.
Whatever that maybe called ussally some sort of advisor but a little darker think disney villian.
Someone whom knows whats really going on, you maybe openly supporting this faction while really what your doing is this.
Good version of being the 'friendly' GM where the king is "I AM GOING TO-" "Are you sure?"

More sinster version one that keeps the kingdom strong but trys to keep as much power for themself away from the king.

Truth?
I want Wizards to let Paizo have a shot a doing Planescape.
Will it ever happen?
Doubt it.

But beyond that an NPC 'monster' guide.
But I was directed to that some time ago which is coming out sometime...

But I seemed to have lost it.
Such is life.

I would like to see something that I could use to get people into the game.
A red box, TV show, board game or something like that.
I worry for my hobby, it seems to be losing ground.

ChrisRevocateur wrote:
While I agree, a natural leveling system I don't think would work very well for a pen and paper game. You'd have to keep track of how many times you swing your sword, how many times you use each individual skill, how much you get hit, etc.... It'd just be too much paperwork for each character.

Wile keeping track of that maybe hard, I have heard of systems where critical success and/or failer make it cheaper to upgrade those skills because you learn from your success and failers.

But I have no idea how such a system could work in D&D but I am guessing that Jason does and that would be interesting to read if nothing else...

James could you please ethier
A. Tell us which book you plan to release this in the next players guide or whatever the book maybe called
or
B. Release this as some sort of bonus.

The reason I ask is I love the idea of the natural leveling.
D&D seemed to lack that and also by following it pathfinder does as well.
You get better at swiming because you killed alot of kobolds?
Not to metion the bonus in hit points and all of the rest...

If someone wants to use a skill in my game I say do you want a bonus to this roll?
They say yes ofcorse...
I say if you do you must put a point in this skill when you level.

I really like the idea of a 'fable' style leveling system where you get better at stuff you use.
I mean I know this is not realism but the leveling bussiness does break the fourth wall... alot.

Aasimars make excellent Clerics, (although slightly less so in Pf). I really wish they were "Core".

So do I that way I would be able to play one in Pathfinder Society some how a human or an gnome another of the races don't seem to fit there.

With the concept I was doing...

I put this here because I know where else to put it...
So I was thinking about writing up a submission for the pathfinder society thing and I was umming and arrring about it.

And one thing came up in my head.
With my sever lack of artistic talent I was how do I do a map?
And then I thought ohhh thats fine I would simply arrange my mini tiles and take a snap shot and voila.
But then I began thinking about your whole comment on no easter eggs and I thought is this going to just cause trouble?

So is it?
Is it just going to cause trouble I looked up copyright law for the US regarding maps and the Dungeon Tiles from wizards are under a trade mark and not a copy right but I am still not sure.
Not living in the US and not studying their law all I saw was it was fine so long as it wasn't copyrighted.

But not being native to there I am still not a 100% on the whole thing so I am throwing it out here to see if someone more familar with US law would be able to help.

P.S before someone says just use something else.
Well yes I have thought of that but then I follow the same number of problems, Fat Dragon games I am fairly sure have copyrighted thier maps.
And I do not have the selection of paizo maps that I do with the Dungeon tiles.
P.P.S Also I had all my paizo tiles in one box and my cat thought it was a litter tray :s

Caladors, your reading of the GM reward section a little off....

I see my mistake.

I apologise then the rant must seem a little off to say the least.

When the new rules came into effect I was still under using the older rules, please forgive me as it had only been a day since they have come under effect.

1)Is this why when reporting for a player whom has already played the same scenario that it does not come up in thier sessions?

(forgive me the new rules had been in effect for one day and I had not downloaded them)

2)Also how do you report benfits to your own character as GM?

I understand that I have not yet run one senerio three times so there may be an option pop up at that time.

Also on this I find it highly unlikely that I will run the same scenario more than once.
The only time I will ever be doing this is if I am doing additional GMing for a con.

This is more of a statement than a question but I would like to present it to the organizers.
I think your rules are unnessarily harsh on GMs, you must run an scenario three times before you get a point for use on your character?

For myself that means I must find an additional eight players to play a specific scenario.

Also on top of this I may never play this senerio even if my character has not it is considered cheating.
Which is fine you have made an executive decision on that and I agree.

Thus to GM is a big burden.
Not only have the ussal problems of being a GM but they have a number of additional ones in what I have stated above.

Each year I am going to try and take a break from GMing play at the GenCon but at the current rate I will have an extremely poor selection of scenario, so unless I only GM for games my character has played in things look grim.
And I do not only want to run events I have played in because that provides poor selection for the players I am playing with.

NOOOooooo.....
No +1 Aasimar are much better without level adjustment

Skills are just that, skills and to keep current in any skill one must train, research ecta.
While the arcanist researchs more complex topics, the scounderal will trade stories with every which person he meets, not every single part of the game is played out, for example it maybe interesting to know what you guys are eating in the dark undergroun cavern your exploring.
It gives an element of girt and desperation.

However are you going to go into detail about toilet arangements, thats uninteresting and no body wants to talk about that.

The wizards day in a life of gave you a bit of insight into what people do in there off time.
Your just taking a ship to this place and the guy just lands and he knows all about how is that possiable?!
Well because he talked to all of the sailors and the times that had over here and he put two and two together.

Anyway thats my thoughts.

I just think rather than dismiss something out right you should try... and see thing in the way they in vision.

Long you want long look at some of the things I have said in the past I even had one that wouldn't let me submit everything in a single post.

http://www.feartheboot.com/ftb/wp-content/uploads/resources/2_GroupTemplate Questionnaire_Example.pdf

I would suggest taking a look at this and going over that with the players rather than just going ok I take these CR's down ecta.

Often nobody wants to run a healer I don't see why you wouldn't.
But in that case you just vary things so that the enemies can do alot of damage and don't like high damage low attack or just have them doing low damage.
Or run quick and dirty where the players pretty much smash them and move on.

This is just saying thay you don't have a healer.
The thing is to roll with the punches, you go ok you don't have X well what does that do to Y and and figure out how that can work.
If it can't remove it and see if it effects that game.

"Being confidant and having a big gun gets you through most things in life" ten points to the person who says where that quote is from.
They don't know your on the fly if you don't let on.
Carry yourself well and all else should follow.

Plus your the guy with the mooks there not going to question if you have a master plan, his got mooks ofcorse he has a master plan.

GOOD LUCK! :D!

Nothing really to add here other than I agree.

I like the idea of short prestige classes much more easy to take in.

Regards Caladors,

I'm just seeing I've seen technicolor dragons on children's folders just as often as horsey unicorns. Please excuse me that I don't want to hunt down tacky dragon pictures.

And Western dragons were once viewed as maurading menaces, beasts that rampaged across the countryside ... now they're little kids' best friends, see Pete's Dragon, Puff the Magic Dragon, and the Puppy Dog Luck Dragon from Neverending story.

Also, if ->this<- is not pest control, I don't know what it is, but I have trouble seeing it as an epic battle, seeing as the dragon is like, the size of a dog.

Just Saying. ;)

... also, yes, the Vampire thing bugs me too. @.@

Luck will frink eat you! his huge plus that story rocked and thats where it will stay rocking on in my mind back to the time in my childhood when I enjoyed that movie so no I will not rewatch or review the never ending story.

And well puff isn't about a dragon at all and to say his not powerful well his enthralled millons, if you get the double entendre there...

Yeah I know there out there but there far less prevalent than the ubiquitous unicorn pictures in well everywhere that has posters.
Where as the dragons are a little harder to find and generally they bring a sense of fear, lothing or meance.
Far less likely to be cat posed and wings tagged on.
STAY AWAY YOU LOLCAT PEOPLE.

Well as someone said he is trying to put up a fight but the thier picture that they posted which was wierd why would you let some stab you and just let the person the chain get off scott free...
But I still stand by my statements that dragons were a meance to be faced and that hasn't been changed.

Of the existing settings out there I would love to play 'Pathfinderzied' Planescape.
It is my favourite setting and it has flavour bursting out every which way.

Also it seems very paizo'esque, all of this mish mash muddle of things forming into one huge yet understandable and not city.
Where else could you have a campaign where you could have one to twenty without leaving the city or going everywhere it is limitless in what you can do.

Want to go to a realm of thought, where emotions make the presence of person rather than there normal appearance, sure why not?
Want to go somewhere you become a hero in a story of legend of legends past without changing the story instead you become the story, sure I can do that...
Or how about a session colour of your characters eyes charts there power.

You can do anything from the most fantastical to very pedistran.
