Pardon, the wanna be was more as to your intent, not meant as a doubt ;)

At 7th level, lots of booms and zaps in reach

I have no problem letting another take the arcane route, so am working on the sneaky thieving type who will be applying for the job of Treasurer (with amazing references which may or may not be forged).

I'll go ahead and let the blaster wanna be know to post in here then if they still want.

And I'm sure the ink on the references will at least be dry :)

Good morning, I'm John. Happy to be here (thank you Bydar for the invite) and also happy to meet those of you that I don't know already. I do love the occasional, Oh you are X in the game where I am Y, things that happen from time to time.

Sorry, wandering.

What do people feel are the needs of the group right now so I can start fiddling?

Just about anything or anyone would help.

PC position filled in the rulership are thus...

We've got a ranger (Brandt) as a General
A cavalier (Christian) as our Ruler
and a cleric (Bydar) as High Priest (Spiritual cruise director ;) )

We just lost our Treasurer and Magister, but I am pretty sure if one of the NPCs have a position you prefer (See the Charis Kingdom tracker) we can shuffle things around.. though I admit, I think we've all taken to having a Medusa Enforcer

As for class and party situations, Christian seems to be our main frontliner and he's also a good "face" thanks to high Charisma and a diplomacy skill that's pretty amazing.

Brandt is our best guide/tracker and a fierce switch hitter from bow to melee to back again...

Bydar is mostly a healer with some buffs, though he assists on some social rolls now and then.

My advice would be to play what you like... we're short an arcane type* or a trap finder but the former needn't be a pure arcane class if you enjoy multiclasses or the like, and so far the lack of the latter hasn't hurt us too badly ;)

* -I have another person I contacted who mentioned they might be interested in a blasting arcane type. As far as I'm concerned you signed up first so you get first dibs on what will bring you the most fun but that might take the pressure off you if you want to try a non blaster etc.

As for races, All Core and Featured Races allowed is the original restriction, but given our recent in game history you might be allowed a kobold or even a Lizardfolk (But check with our GM on that) should that be a dream of yours.

Okay, John Gs is interested! Others are either at full capacity or getting roughed up by Real Life.

DM Vayelan Should I tell John Gs to introduce himself here? Or would you rather him PM you?

Yes, please. I would appreciate that.

I'll send out messages to them now and see if they're interested. The fact they get to start at 7th level instead of the beginning maybe a lure *knock on wood*

Bydar ponders something, "I wonder if we could possibly lure some of his troops away. Clearly they're trying to drive up recruitment for this foray, but how many are conscripted or caught in some debt so they feel they have no choice? Maybe we can offer them a better deal in a new land."

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

I hope not.

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar has a lot to tend to. To the congregation that worships Shelyn, he guides, comforts, listens, advises and heals. One day he hopes to give them a proper temple but it is slow going, and at least their is a shrine and forge to Torag so that there is literal holy ground in the area, which sets goodly folks at ease.

He's abit surprised when and if praise for their rescue of Tig is given, and answers honestly of the situation, encouraging his fellow Shelynites not to be too judgemental of how the Iruxi were fooled, "There are always those who will don the garb of whatever people honor and revere to use it for their own ends. We have to be cautious of false prophets, fake patriots, and those who tell us all we want to hear and then urge us to do evil in the name of some greater good. We also have to make sure such caution doesn't make us cynical to the point we assume all prophets are false, all patriots are fake, and there is nothing good in common cause. It is a hard and narrow path. Too far on one side can make you commit monstrous deeds and betray the very symbol being used against you. Too far the other? You end up blocking all avenues to community convinced they must ALL be yokes, and in doing so yoke anyway."

And, there is the Academy! A glorious undertaking for anyone who sees the promise of seeds of education taking root. It makes him smile just to think of it.
But Syretia is magister not he, and he takes her lead in its shaping offering his own architectural skills. And sculpting, of course! It is a joy to work with stone again.

No, his greater duties are as acting High Priest of Charis, and in his case, this means more as a go between rather than leader of the various clercs of the area to make sure they're all getting along and coordinated. And to help them in their own endeavors. Orlog travels with him so there's already communication there, he hopes. Thus so, he visits Kara Ilarenika, priestess of Pharasma, Nanya of Arundhat, and seeks out any other religious leaders that have settled into the area (To introduce himself, make sure they'rte not some whacko cult he needs to warn the others about, and offer his help if they're not)

For those (Definitely Kara and Nanya anyway) he asks the following:

"How is your faith growing, if at all? Do they have places to meet and worship freely? How Can I help you and them? Are there any concerns you have?"

He also wants to find out if anything new has been uncovered about the Red Shields and their slavery attempts near Charis.

I think the Slavery talk about the Redshields had alarmed Bydar a great deal, but we may not have enough details to act on that.

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

"I think the tribe is grateful, the King ashamed. I would call them cautious allies at this point myself? I could be wrong and there will be many cultural differences. If they do become regular allies, perhaps classes in Draconic would be useful? Between the Kobolds and now the Iruxi, it might become a language of trade. We might have to find a teacher of it for the upcoming academy. My religious duties have me focused on other things." Bydar watches boy and Wolfdog play with amusement as they talk "This realm we're forging, it's not like anything I would have imagined at first, but it is clearly going to be diverse."

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar leaves such guiding to Brandt and the others. He feels most ignorant of such and wouldn't want to mislead them.

Instead he focuses on keeping Tig distracted and in good spirits. he takes a piece of wood and carves it to look like a smaller version of Fenrir

Craft Sculpture: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

"Didn't get it quite right, did I, Tig?" He admits and offers over his attempt, "Fenrir has a much nicer looking tail."

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar nods and repeats this...

and then

Draconic:
"Those are our leader's words. As for my own, just this advice 'We are none of us doomed to forever be who we were on our worst day'. We learn from those moments, but they do not define us. The Eternal Rose teaches such. I hope it is a lesson that comforts you."

After those translations he says to Christian "Their shame is great. I hope they do not let it overwhelm them."

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar nods at Christian's comment about making sure the lad is well, and does so if Tig agrees.

And when he sees the boy is dehydrated, he offers him a drink of water 'Small sips are best" He advises.

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

"You're no ancestor spirit. You're a farce, a brute, and a torturer of children!"
Bydar snaps, and suspecting battle is about to begin, turns to Christian, and invokes a prayer. He saw that the Iruxi King was shocked. That, at least, is a clue as to what is to come.

"It makes sense, it feels right" He says when asked if he's certain.

Quote:
I think Vesket is in on this as well. I am afraid of what might happen if he remains in power. The region will have a new Stag Lord that will pray on the innocent. He should be dealt with.

Bydar is less sure of that, "I ... think Vesket might be fooled by the Wisp. He may TRULY believe it is an ancestral spirit. It doesn't excuse advocating for the torture of a child but I think he's less as partner of Stisshak and more its patsy. If we don't want war with the Iruxi, I suggest we not kill the King, but focus on exposing Stisshak before him and others."

"Now HOW we would do that? I've little idea."

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar's eyes widen as that sinks in, and he whispers to his allies, "I think they're being fooled by a Will o Wisp. I think they ...feed on such things as fear. This isn't some ancestor. It's a parasite and a user. Anyone know what their weaknesses are?"

Male Human Cleric 7 (HP 51/51 ;AC16,T11,FF15; F+8,R+5,W+11; Init +1; Perc +4){Effects:none}

Bydar shares what he heard with the others, trying to mask his facial expressions and tones about the guards to some degree. "This is concerning. A spirit of some sort is inflicting fear on the boy regularly? it sounds like torture... or some undead perhaps?"

He thinks of what undead MIGHT match this 'spirit'

Bydar watches Vesket go, and fights a frown. He wonders if it would be the risk of one of them sneaking after ... but no. Besides, however ODD this felt, he was supposed to respect spirital private moments.

Instead he focused on one of the Iruxi guards, speaking in Draconic,

Draconic:

In Draconic, he asks the King how the spirit is addressed, by what name if it maybe shared?
