Liberty's Edge

Just wondering what happens with really good (genius) written unsolicitored fan-fiction? If you see talent, do you embrace it and allow them to continue to write for Paizo, help grow the Pathfinder world?

Heres hoping! :)

welcome. im fairly new here myself but the blogs have me sold that this is a game worth watching. I cant say i was dissapointed in swtor, no more than ive been with any other game to come out in the last 5 or 6 years. but for now ill be playing swtor while i wait to hear more about pathfinder and copernicus from 38 studios. so far ive enjoyed reading those blogs alot about the systems they want in game, just hope they stick to that.

Sorry, so, Copernicus is the MMO set in the Kingdoms of Amalur Setting?

I think Birthright was one of the best 2nd edition D&D Campaign settings, where you can be blood-lined and have "Blood abilities". It fits well with the whole "Kingmaker" path.

It was awesome, and I hope Pathfinder Online is similar.

Suggestion time:

Lineage. (no, not the game..)

When you get to finally own your castle, you get to take a wife, she gets pregnant and nine months later (of game time), gives birth to your son (and have a SIMS like mini-game with him). Once he comes of age, he has taken on your appearance and surname!

This unlocks a character slot, and you can then keep playing with this character instead.

Of course, Dad wil still be there to kill the Dragons...

Just wondering if we will be getting forums on the official Goblinworks site for the game soon? Would be good to organise them into General/Off topic, Fan Fiction, Suggestions (For the DEVS), ect.

Heres hoping soon!

The last two blogs have just had the wrong date printed, but they're from 2012!

Ah, that is where I got confused, of course, it goes from December 7, 2011 to Jan 18 2011...Very confusing but I see now! Thanks for pointing it out (much as I feel dumb right now...) :)

Liberty's Edge

Just wondering, if I am missing something, but in Blog #1, they said they would blog every 2 weeks, yet, the latest one is dated Jan 18, 2011, ?!? That is Blog #4 - can someone direct me to the rest?

Thankyou.

I noticed the trend alot with Sandbox MMOS is to only be on the one server, and to have you only have 1 character slot, perhaps 2, given the skill based nature of the game, and that 1 character could be whatever you wanted - it precludes different races as a downside.

Any thoughts? EVE Online was only a single Server game (as is DF/MO/ER)

Two words: Vegemite!

Why Not? If you can do anything in this game, why not gather the ingrediatns, bake the bread, toast it over a fire, spread curdled milk that has been churned into butter and then put on some yeast extract.

Voila! Vegemite and Butter Toast!

Here is my ideal Collectors edition for Pathfinder Online...

Huge Collectors edition Box (in high quality gloss)

Containing:

- Game on 3 DVDS and 1 Blu Ray
- Game Soundtrack CD
- Game Making of DVD/Blu Ray Combo
- Replica Harrowing Card Deck
- Minature of an in-game Raid Boss/World Boss doubles as 8gb USB FD.
- Mini Starters Guide (inlduing tips on proffessions/skills)
- Hard Cover Coffee Table Art Book
- Full Colour Cloth Map of World
- Full Colour high gloss Adventure Guide (Rule Book) signed by DEV team
- Mouse Mat
- Ingame "Collectors Edition Item", fluff item (or Mount perhaps) that
is non-lootable.
- In game Title for Character for owners of Collectors Edition (Also,
for BETA testers, say "Founder", ect)

Any other suggestions?

This would retail for around $80 US ($120 AUD) and includes 30 days game time free for first month.

Also, if you decide to not release in AUD, please, no IP blocking and allow Aussies to get the CE from Amazon at the least.

These should be very limited (perhaps numbered with a certificate of Authentication). Perhaps 50,000?

Heres Hoping!

I must say, that out of all the PnP Roleplaying books a I have seen over the years, these books have (as well as Larry ELMORE from D&D/Dragonlance fame) the best artwork I have ever seen. Your artists are VERY talented and the amount of Lore in this world is staggering, I forsee that if you can get together a crack programming/design team, that will do the art/LORE justice and bring it together to a working whole on-screen, you will have a HIT on your hands!

Bring on the official Pathfinder Online Website and Forums! :)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

An important aspect of any Sandbox MMO is the ability to write your own books! :) Please implement this and have a nice aesthetically looking, easy to use User Interface. You need one that someone can pick up and play without needing to memorise the rulebook.

Remember, the quickest way to turn someone off an MMO is by having a clunky, hard to manage UI and they will Rage-quit.

Thankyou!

Just wondering how big the DEV team is currently and what you would expect a decent sized team to produce/develop a quality MMO (Work Vs Wage) would be?

Will there be third party people brought in to do, say the cutscenes? Remember TRION was considered an "Indie" developer and look at the success they have had with RIFT?

There is no reason Pathfinder could not be the RIFT of 2013....

Liberty's Edge

Since we are still early in development, I would be interested to see where you guys are at 12 months from now! (I am telling myself this so I dont get too excited and can wait it out - hell I waited 4 years for SWTOR!)

Keep up the good work! Cant wait to hear more! :)

Liberty's Edge

I truly hope that there will be something (akin to Vanguard, but NOT a cardgame) Diplomacy system put in to help the roleplayers/immersion.

Also, further suggestions:

Real Time Viscreal Combat (where limbs/heads, ect can be loped off)
Fluff (Children playing, butterflies and birds, fauna, random quests on town notice boards, exploration skill increased)

Somthing like Skyrim? Perhaps when you explore, your "Cartographer" skill goes up, and the higher it goes the more details the ingame map will be (if you remember, the old game Wizardry Dark Savant, had something similar to this).

Treasure maps where X marks the spot! Dont forget to buy a shovel!

Robust Auction house/Chatting system, Guild systems (Quests, tabards, ect, and Guild Bank!).

Dynamic Weather, when it rains, your character looks wet!

Engines to consider using:

Hero Engine
Crytek Cryengine 3 Engine
Latest Unreal Engine

Any other suggestions? Will there be an official website with forums soon?

Liberty's Edge

Just reading a Pathfinder novel and wondering if the Harrowers (Gypsy) will be in game and will Fortune Telling be a skill? Perhaps to act like a buff or something similar?

Also, will our characters be able to become Werewolves/Vampires?

Can you please put a set of Replica Harrowing Cards in the Collectors Edtiion? (Hopeful grin).

Thankyou!

Liberty's Edge

Just wondering if there is any info on where they are currently with the game. If they are using the Hero engine, have the started re-coding it for this world? Also, if they are further along then that, perhaps close to Alpha stage?

I would love to see the same attention to detail go into this as with any big AAA MMO (WoW, SWTOR, GW2) and for them not to rush it . I know that Paizo is a big company when it comes to the PNP gaming, but is Goblinworks what we would be considering an "Indie" comapy and I pray this doesnt turn into another MO or DFO.

Heres Hoping!
