Borden remained silent as Bokken invited them all in. Odd fellow. I suppose living alone in the wilds like he has will do that to a person, the cleric thought to himself as he looked around the labeled room. At the mention of a favor though, Borden smiled calmly as added, "As I know it, we are tasked with exploring further south than many have traveled in quite sometime. What is this task you would have us do for you? I am sure that we can come to an accord that benefits both sides." Just from his words, all in the group can tell that he is accustomed to dealing in fair exchanges and sounded more like a merchant than a cleric.

Nothing particularly appeals to Borden on the treasure log. However, I would suggest we keep any rations that we come across as those can last for quite a long time and they will help when we start doing forays that take us farther and farther form the Outpost.

With a smile, the man with the golden hair said, "It is good to see you again Denmak." Stepping into the courtyard, is a man dressed in a fine armored coat with a light crossbow in his hands and a golden plated key hanging around his neck. "The trip was pleasant, but Beatrice's energetic nature and country style was beginning to edge me the wrong way. The church asked that I find you and your comrades. Not that you could not properly represent Lord Abadar, but a bit of added divine spirit could not hurt, yes?" To the others, Borden smiles and gives a proper bow, "Borden Lebeda of Silverhall, third son of Harn Lebeda and faithful of the Master of the First Vault."

Borden's straight-backed stance, eloquent use of words and proper etiquette back his claims to nobility.

I am ready to go and agree that a connection with Denmak through the church sounds workable. Though his goal of heading to the Stolen Lands is just as personal as it is religious.

Hey all, This is a concept and a campaign that I have wanted to play for sometime. I look forward to gaming with you all.

This is dathom and here is my application for this game. All information can be found under the character profile. Good luck to everyone and I hope to be playing with one of you in this game.

Seeing the hooded man draw his bow, Borden preps his own up on the wall. Not wanting to kill the man, he attempts to target an arm or leg before the man can get an arrow off. He shouts, "It'll be better fer you all if'n you give up!" To add emphasis, he lets loose his arrow at the hooded man.

Attack:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage:1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Sorry for the lack of posting. in mid travel for a 3 month stint in China and my laptop decided to crap out on me. Posting will be unreliable until I can get it replaced. Please feel free to NPC me should I be holding up the game progress.

Borden didn't see a need to issue his support for helping the frontier couple, so the ranger adds, "Sure, I can take the wall somewhere. That way we can see them coming in advance. However, I don't think killing them is tha way to go. They may be bandits, but they are still people. I say we keep to tha charter, give them opportunity to surrender. If they choose not to then we simply make sure they can't make it back to warn their boss. If we can capture at least one however, they might be willing to tell us more about the hatchet wielding woman."

Just got the message. Glad to see this game is still going forward.

From my experience, most PbP games don't see much activity on weekends. I've learned that weekend posting is an exception, not generally a rule.

Recognizing real talent with animals, Borden grudgingly allows the half-orc to take Maribel into the stable for tending. Joining the others around the fire and taking the proffered bowl with a simple thanks, Borden began eating, enjoying the food as he was a hunter so could catch the meat for such a dish. However, he still lacked the skills to cook so effectively. "Yes, Erastil indeed be praised. This stew is delicious."

Listening the the discussion, Borden takes in what their hosts had to say regarding the bandits while evaluating the observations he had made regarding his travel companions. Keaso, that one is certainly eager to prove something. We'll see how he handles himself in the wilds. Norn is pretty clearly a devotee of Erastil, I just hope we can swing that heavy blade of his as well as he can talk. The ladies so far havn't shown much of themselves outside of their beauty. We'll see how they react to combat for no matter how much Mornaura, wishes it, we will end up facing bandits here in the Stolen Lands. Bingo is an interesting one as well. He seems to understand the ways of bandits. Definitely a good one to have along on this expedition.

Thinking of something else to say, Borden adds, "Yes, if'n we're to help you, any information you have will help. However, I apologize fer myself and everyone else you have allowed inta yer outpost. In our eagerness to help ya'll with yer problem, we forgot proper introductions. The name's Borden, Borden Alhurst. I actually come from a village about three days ride northwest called Rendin. I don't pretend ta know the others well enough ta make introductions fer them, but what I know of them so far, they are all right good folk. Even if some of them seem a little eager fer a fight."

Deciding it better to not respond to the other helf-elf's comment for the moment, Borden also dismounts, turning to the owners and saying, "Yes, it's been a long road and I know that Maribel here could do with a proper brushdown. Would it be okay if we came in and rest our feet? Yah don't even have ta worry about Maribel here as I've been taking care of her since she was but a colt.

It is obvious for one perceptive enough that Borden's speech comes from one of the smaller village in Southern Brevoy, His skill will Maribel also suggests that he is accustomed to tending to animals.

Should the Leveton's allow Borden to take Maribel to some shelter, Borden disappears for a few minutes as he take the saddle and pack off of Maribel's back and gives her a fair brushdown before returning to the group.

"Well, the charter outlines what is to become of bandits we come across, I don't see why we can't stick around fer a bit to help these folk out with their problem."

Decked out in supple leathers, Borden slides off his horse and nimbly lands on the ground. Attached to the saddle of his horse rests a quiver of red fletched arrows and a longbow is carefully packed with his things. Borden's blue eyes look sharp and seem to take in every detail as they scan the outpost.

Those who have traveled with the relatively muscled half breed knew that he came from the village of Rendin and he was with them to not only explore the lands, but to also stop the bold bandits that have begun preying on the frontier villages in Southern Brevoy. They are also aware of his keen hunting skills and knowledge of the wild, having made the trip to the outpost subsiding off of the food and drink that Borden was able to hunt and forage for the group.

I went O.O at my stats, until I saw everyone else's. It'll be interesting to play the "lower stated" person (ie lowest 15, highest 17)

Yeah. Glad to know that it was something super serious. We are all here and ready to get going on getting sheets put together when you are.

I too am excited to get going. This should be an interesting group, with at least 2 LG worshipers of Erastil and whatever conflicting alignments with the other characters, should be fun.

Regardless of the coded message that most likely spells out the fate of those accepted, I look forward to the results and wish everyone good luck.

Below is the fluff for my concept. Borden, a human, archery-focused ranger from the south reaches of Brevoy, not far from the boundary with the Stolen Lands. His faith is in Erastil and in the accuracy of his own skill with the bow. He believes in the power of community and the great strength that lies within tradition.

He will most likely multiclass to Rogue or Inquisitor, depending on what occurs during the course of the game.

Description:

Spoiler:

Lean and dexterous, Borden is decked out in supple, studded deer hides and soft soled boots. At his back rests a quiver of red-fletched arrows and a composite longbow is gripped in his left hand. Wrapping his forearm is a worn leather bracer, evidence of his time at practice with the bow. Around his shoulders rests a durable, deep hooded cloak, made to keep the cold winds that push through the southern reaches of Brevoy at bay. A slim, dagger is sheathed at his hip and a hand axe hangs from his opposite hip. A simple leather armband inscribed with a few of Erastil's teachings graces his right arm. His keen, hazel eyes have a seriousness to them, as if constantly on the lookout for something. His brown hair, kept loose, hangs to his upper back and is slightly curly with lighter highlights, a result of spending so much time under the Brevian sun. His overall appearance is of someone who has spent a lot of time on the road. His face is tanned with a beard and moustache two weeks old covering the lower half of his face.

Personality

Spoiler:
A firm believer in tradition, Borden feels that all have their part to play. Moreover, as a boy, he lived in a small community that venerated Erastil, so his views on the world focused around not only bettering oneself, but doing what one can to better the community. Not one for deceptions, he never concerned himself with Brevian politics. Even when he was living in Restov, Borden felt out of place and learned how to determine the motives of the people who hired him on as a
guide. Fair and just to those who treat him as such, Borden stives to always do what is right.

Background

Spoiler:
Born in Rendin, a small village a few day's ride from the bustling city of Restov, Borden learned to hunt form an early age from his father. An avid follower of Erastil's teachings, Borden's father instilled in his son a fierce adherence to tradition and respect for people's roles in society. Borden's father often told the young boy that it was the small communities that made the Rostlands great. It is that belief in his small village that would see him become a good hunter and a great guide. At the age of sixteen, Borden traveled to Restov and, amazed by the crowded nature of the city, began to familiarize himself with the land around it. Then, using what he had learned from maps he had seen as well as crude ones he had created on his own, Borden
began to act as a guide, leading people through the wilderness to villages and even cities as far as New Stetven. Still, remembering his responsibility to his home, Borden made sure to visit his family often, giving over a majority of what he earned and keeping only enough to sustain himself. However, that wasn't to say that the young ranger was without. Many times, the groups he guided would be set upon by fierce animals or traveling bandits, and each time Borden used his skills to defend his charges from harm. At times, he would be rewarded for
his efforts with things useful for his job. A firm believer in family, he always strove to do what he could to protect his village that sat so close to the wilds of he Stolen Lands. So when the opportunity came to sign on for an expedition into the Greenbelt, Borden lept at the chance to join, much to the chagrin of his parents. In the young ranger's mind however, exploring and Greenbelt would not only increase the security of his village home, but would also honor his own community and Old Deadeye in the process.

Profile contains the fluff, but the crunch is from a previous character and will be updated should he be accepted.
