"What abomination have we unleashed here?" Bohdan asks the air with a look of contempt on his face.
"Surely this creature was imprisoned for a reason, it's very appearance reeks of netherworldly ties."
Abomination of the natural world, sent from the fiery bowels of Hell wrote: "Can one of you slack-jawed dumb asses get me some whiskey?" Leveling his sword at the creature, Bohdan takes a step forward.
"Ware your words foul beast, we'll not associate with the likes of you."
"No need to use magic Aref! Just use the damn rope to tie him up!"
It's all Bohdan can do to keep the Tian's legs together.
Hearing the slightly raised voices from down the hall, Bohdan quickly puts down the notes he was taking of the prophecies in the main chamber and rushes to the room where the others are congregated.
Drawing his sword as he enters the room he quickly scans it for any sign of trouble.
"My mentor told me about this order in reverent tones, I too am intrigued that a paladin of the Order is here. Your connection seems very plausible Rackham."
After listening to Wetsands translate Bohdan takes a step closer to the well, "Perhaps the water has some restorative abilities, Jon could certainly benefit from those if that's the case."
Pharasma wrote: Now you guys have a fighter with a DEX of 7. Bah, he just needs to run if off! ;-)
Bohdan kneels down next to the half crushed fighter and tries to find a place that isn't covered in either crushed armor or mucous-like fluids.
"I beseech you, my mistress of arms, to help this valiant warrior mend his broken bones."
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+2=5
A quick look around the chamber shows Bohdan that the brave warrior Jon is in dire trouble. Trying to ignore the weight of his armor Bohdan jogs across the room, hoping that he can get to the fray in time to help.
"Hold on men, help is on the way!"
run x3 across the room to H13, setting up for a Cure Light Wounds next round on Jon (Spontaneous conversion of Endure Elements)
Hearing the sudden commotion and shouting from down the bowels of the crypt, Bohdan hurries down the stairs from the surgery tightening the strap on his shield and drawing the newfound magical sword.
Stayed back when some of the others started exploring and I'll use this round to reach the combat zone
From back in the surgery chamber Bohdan calls down the stairs.
"Have you found anything of interest down there? Should we all come down or is it just a dead end?"
"We came here to investigate the temple, didn't we? So I say we search the whole complex when everyone is rested."

Rackham Pulsifer wrote: No problem. ;}

They can be transmitted through contact with the blood or feces of such creatures, although their survival in creatures that are not inherently magical is known to be rare, although not impossible. Any of you could now be infected."
He casts his eyes around the blood drenched warriors.
He looks up at Aref: "Also very infectious among sorcerers, I have heard."
He picks up one of the tiny worms on a piece of straw tracked out of Calebra's lair and looks at it closely.
"Infection of this parasite is known to cause dementia, a gradual loss of magical ability, loss of brain function, and eventually death. Cure can be had through the usual divine methods of removing diseases. It's progress can be slowed and maybe even stopped through judicious dispelling of magic on the host."
"Sweet Mistress, that's bad!"
Bohdan immediately withdraws towards the center of the temple.
"All those covered in blood, to me!"
With that he raises a hand over his head and water starts cascading down his body, washing the blood off of his armor.
Create Water to hopefully wash off the blood

He crouches low and leaps into the air despite his crippling injuries (you have AoOs, he has mobility, good luck) so fast you are barely able to swing as he pushes off the ground.
"90!"

With a roar Bohdan finally charges into the fray. Leading with his shield, to protect him against the claws of the beast, he jumps and brings the full brunt of his strength to bear on the desert predator.
Charge: (1d20+12=27, 1d8+5=8)
(+2 charge, +1 Bless, +1 Divine Favor, +2 Flank) - Move to P25
Ignoring the roar of Calebra Bohdan again calls out to his heavenly mistress, a prayer people also heard on the beach when the group was assaulted by the large ants, a prayer to bless and help those who stand on her servant's side in this battle. To show his own courage, Bohdan moves into the room fully, preparing to charge into the fray.
Will save (1d20+6=22)
Cast Bless, everyone should be covered. So basically it's in effect from the next round since I go last. I also move to R25, preparing to set up a charge (hint, hint, leave a space open by Calebra ;-))
Shouting a prayer to Iomedae to favor her humble servant, Bohdan trudges steadfast to the door opening to survey the scene in the main chamber.
cast Divine Favor and move to Q22
Confident that the remaining four in the surgery can take care of the wounded scorpions, and praying that more doesn't show up, Bohdan rushes back through the complex. The two spellcasters are hardly a match for Calebra in close combat, so some hard steel needs to be put in its way.
running to Q18, i.e. tripple move.
Also, I didn't get a chance to put it down before, but I assume that I have picked up one of the magical longswords to aid me in the battle against Calebra. I don't know which one it is, so if there are different bonuses then I'll let you decide which it is. I'll just assume that they are +1 longswords otherwise when I do my rolls.
how big are these scorpions?
As everybody rushes into the surgery, Bohdan follows.
Seeing the poisonous critters Bohdan leaps up on one of the surgery tables and stabs at the scorpion that threatens Pulsifer.
1d20+5=18, 1d8+3=11
Is the pool similar to the ones found in the main temple? I.e. seemingly fresh water even after ages.
"There's what appears to be an infirmary in here... and another door. Seems unused, so I'll just check out the other door."
Bohdan disappears into the gloom of the darkened hallway.
Wetsands wrote: Aref Sami Shahrokh wrote: We are already no escape bad-bad. If we make Calebra fight on our terms then we have an advantage. It dies or we die, there is no escape. Wetsand indicates the other doors. "Maybe back door? Maybe better place attack."
He points up. "Maybe Calebra watch us right now." "I'll check this door," Bohdan says and walks to the door opposite the one which stood ajar.
I try to open the other southern door
Pharasma wrote: Awesome answer. The temple may predate the service of Iomedae, though, I actually don’t know the time frame of her service. But certainly there is much of interest here for such a quest. If the temple was in service up until the death of Aroden, then there should be writings about Iomedae.
Iomedae seems to be a popular deity from what I've seen around the boards, so I'm looking forward to getting more info from the Paizo people. I also have a player in my real life campaign who's a cleric of her, so that just adds to my curiosity.

Pharasma wrote: Bohdan wrote: ... maybe someone here can find out if there are such items among the dead?" You find a holy symbol and a signet ring, and some dried rations, a candle and two sunrods in the holy man's pouch.
Customs of dress being somewhat different from land to land even in the church, your guess is that it's a paladin judging from the accoutrements worn over the plate armor. The armor itself is a little small for you, but you guess that it would keep you alive in a pinch. If merit dictates, however, the church would want this man to be laid to rest in his armor.
Whatever you do with his equipment, bringing news of this warrior and the temple itself will probably win you renown in the church for ages to come.
Do you wish to engage in a lengthy search of the bodies now? I take the signet ring, as proof of the man's demise, and the two sunrods.
As for my comment on trinkets and charms... I was hoping someone had a detect magic memorized. :-D
Bohdan fusses over the body of the armor clad man, arranging the it so it seems to lie in state, then says a prayer.
"Iomedae has taken you to serve in her immortal army, may her glory and honor forever nourish you in the afterlife. I shall bring word of your passing and of this temple so your honor can be recognized. Glory to Iomedae."
The Deceiver wrote: "This looks like the central worship chamber." Says the Deceiver as he goes about following the perimeter of the chamber.
"Bohdan, care to speculate what a follower of Iomadae would be doing in a temple of Aroden."
"Well, my goddess served Aroden in ages past and I can only assume that a temple of this size and magnificence would hold early scriptures about their relationship. Such scriptures would be immensely valuable to the church and the search for those worthy of a paladin's quest.
I assume that is what brought my brother in the faith here."

The Deceiver wrote: Pharasma wrote:
AS Ryor points out his own observations you notice that one of the topmost male bodies wears plate mail armor bearing the symbols of Iomedae, and on it's back a jeweled scabbard of a claymore or greatsword. Where the matching sword is you are not certain. "Bohdan, you might want to look at these." At Cordoba's call, Bohdan walks over to the pile of bodies.
Seeing the body of the armor clad figure a small gasp escapes his lips.
"Can you give me a hand here Cordoba?" He asks, indicating that he wants to lift the body off the pile to inspect it further.
When the body is lying by itself, Bohdan kneels down to inspect it further.
"I'm sorry your plight ended here brother, I'll bear word of your demise to the church in order to honor your sacrifice."
Searching the body to try and find evidence of whether he was a cleric, paladin or just a follower of Iomedae. I also want to see if I can find anything personal that I can take back to the church as proof.
Hmmm, haven't done my skills according to Alpha 2 yet, so I'll just use the Alpha 1 already on my character sheet.

Also... Plate mail... yum yum :-D
After searching the body he turns to Cordoba.
"With all these people apparently coming here voluntarily, maybe some of them had brought trinkets or charms to protect and aid them... maybe someone here can find out if there are such items among the dead?"
"I'll wait until last, just in case this 'Calebra' creature shows up."
"Do we have enough rope to reach all the way to the bottom?"
Bohdan looks dubiously at the coils of rope Syd and Wetsands are knotting together.
"There's a ring of pillars surrounding that crystal dome inside the tower, some 20 paces across, don't know if that's any help."
Is there even anything to firmly attach the rope to up there?
Bohdan approaches the large gaping hole and gently slides closer to the rim not knowing if there's any support beneath him. Laying down flat on his stomach he looks over the rim, hoping his superiour vision will let him distinguish anything down below. Maybe if the tower was used all the way to the top there would be a floor not too far below, maybe out to the side if several floors had collapsed here by the hole?
Bohdan looks at the paw marks in the sand.
"Quite a large and fierce predator it seems, let's hope the Bhuka's warnings are enough when we finally meet this Calebra."
Pointing to the large drophole he asks those who have more experience in tracking: "Does that seem like its lair? I'd imagine the tracks would lead to and from it if it is."
Damn, had hoped they had moved in together, oh well, I'll just have to try and take them out one at a time
Bohdan raises one hand high and weaves a mystical symbol in the air and at the word "Voda" a torrent of water appears over the approaching wasp, fully drenching it. and hopefully sending it plummeting
Create Water over wasp #2, that's 4 gallons of water weighing 32 pounds suddenly hitting it... wasps and similar flying insects don't like water as far as I know (cue Mythbusters episode where bees were sprayed with either water or vodka... most of the "water bees" died, while the "vodka bees" were fine).
Rackham Pulsifer wrote: Rackham, hanging precariously away from the ledge, levels his right hand at the second wasp. With a small motion, as if the wizard were turning an invisible knob, a wave of flame bursts from Rackham's palm.
Casts Burning Hands. Is that 1d6 or 1d4?
It's 2d4... but remember that the wasps are actually 20 feet out from the wall too, so it's not really in range. The fire could scare them away, though.
Seeing how the wasps haven't attacked yet and are quite a bit away from him, Bohdan concentrates on making sure the ropes are holding up for the last goblin to follow.
delaying my action until the wasps come within 30' of me - then I have a little surprise for them. :-D
"If we can be sure the children are safe here I'm willing to go explore the "Tower" too."
"I have never heard of these creatures of which you speak, but they seem like flying predators and we must take our precautions if that's the case."
*stomp* *stomp* *stomp*
"Wetsands, how safe is this cave? Is it only used by your tribe or are there other... visitors who come here often?"
Bohdan is clearly torn between seeing to the safety of the children and the possibility of discovering more about the father figure of his own goddess.
"Turin, how much longer to Katheer?"
Wetsands wrote: To Bohden: "You follow dead god's child, Daddy Bohdan Orcson. You safe there."
Points to Syd surreptitiously and says to Bohdan: "Me no understand Syney Orcson. You brother? Some Bhuka stupid, too. Stupid no problem he big strong."
He points to the big Bhuka who mixed the drugs, still talking to Bohdan: "That me brother, Bigstones. He stupid but strong. No sick. Eat one-month-dead camel no problem. Drink Badwater no problem. Biglove him."
"No, he's not my brother. We come from different parts of the world, which is also why someone like Aref sounds different from us, but it doesn't mean that anyone is stupid."
Curious about Wetsands' mentioning Aroden, Bohdan tries to inquire further.
"Did your people worship Aroden? You seem very knowledgeable about him and my saviour Iomedae."
Bohdan stays away from the pipes and any wine that might have been brought along, drinking only water and only eating the meat Katella prepares.
Sitting down next to his fellow half-orc he makes a little conversation, while keeping an eye on the kids.
"As long as he keeps his words and honors his promises, I don't mind Cordoba doing the talking. So far it's been going ok."
Trying to keep an eye on the jackals, Bohdan trudges heavily through the dense growth of the oasis. But more time seems to be spent swatting the low hanging branches and leaves out of his face.

Pharasma wrote: As you all stand waiting outside the oasis brush you hear little more than the rustling leaves and grass, the sigh of shifting sand in the brush, and the fidgeting of Turins fingers on his sword hilt. The sun is slowly easing down toward the horizon. Subtle...
"I say we move in, I want to get out of the sun."
Patting his armor clad chest with his steel gauntlets he adds: "Besides, I'm not really afraid of coyotes. I'm protected by the grace of Iomedae and good hard steel."
With that Bohdan starts moving towards the beckoning shade.
"If there are coyotes in there I'm sure they've had their fill of water, shouldn't be that hard to chase them away, should it?"
Aref Sami Shahrokh wrote: HO THERE TRAVELERS! May the desert's breath be cool and free of sand upon you! I do not know where we are and what the customs are here, but that doesn't sound unfriendly to me... hard to understand, but not unfriendly."
Bohdan wipes the sweat off his brow again, although the already sodden kerchief he uses only smears it around.
"I for one could use some nice shade and maybe splash some water on my face... I say we go in."
Although he expresses confidence in the friendliness of the man at the oasis, he still loosens his sword in his scabbard.
Bohdan walks over to Jon, clapping him lightly on the shoulder. "Good to see you alive, I can take a look at those wounds... hold still, this might smart a little."
Prodding a bit at the edges of Jon's wounds, Bohdan clasps a hand tightly over the largest of them and says a prayer to Iomedae to heal the valiant warrior.
A jolt of energy courses through Jon's body as the prayer is answered.

Since both Syd and Cordoba are before me a lot can happen, so I'll post two options. The first is if the ant in front of me is still alive, the second is if it's not... actually, better post three options, since Turin might off the ant I'm going after in my second option

Bohdan also sees the advancing ants on the flank and joins in the chorus shouting for everyone to get behind the rocks (and him).
With the fast march pace the ants are setting they'll be on the group shortly, so Bohdan strengthens his grip on his shield handle and awaits the arrival of their curious attackers.

Bohdan has gathered the bedraggled prisoners around him to comfort them. He kneels down next to them in the sand and performs a short prayer to Iomedae, asking for her help in getting these people back to civilization safely and without harm.
