Too Bad the company went under three or four years ago. But hey, I have some of their source books. Good solid material if you need to hero or villain to convert.

10 years ago I was into the Hero System (including Fantasy Hero).
Any reason you ask? I've purchased the three core books for Mutants and Masterminds 2nd ed. (M&M 2nd Ed. The Mastermind's Manual and Ultimate Powers) and I'm going to put together a PBeM campaign sometime around August, probably after Gen-Con.
Although I'm not going this year.
Stay tuned for an announcement on the Paizo Boards. :-)
Or you can send replies to my slave-scribe Jeffrey, Contact devilboy@anv.net or my own e-mail box, Contact pigeonblue@gmail.com. You'll need to cut and paste these e-mail addresses.
Leave something of an inquiry about the game in the header of the document or I'll think it's spam and feed it to my pet gelatinous cube.

I heard he was dead or missing so I bought the Ultimate book thingy and am really confused; can anyone give me the story; the comic book shop guy says they will probably bring him back; but sheesh; what the heck happened? The Ultimates is a completely seperate line of books published by Marvel comics.
There's a trade paperback called Ragarok, published by Marvel which features the fall and destruction of Asgard in Thor last series. Basicly, the demise of Asgard is initiated by Loki and a small pantheon of Over-Gods called Those-Who-Sit-Above-in-Shadow. They feed for off the energies of dying pantheons and offered a seat at their proverbial dinner table to Thor as he would be the last to survive his realm's destruction. In short, he rejected their offer and destroy the tapestry of fate which had bound his people since their birth. In the end, Asgard and the Norse pantheon awaits a resurrection of sorts.
A condense version can be found here.
Beta Ray bill however, is the last known surviving deity of the Norse Pantheon and was featured in his own limited series called Stormbreaker.
Check it out as its filled with good fantasy and super-hero RPG ideas.
Beta Ray Bill is due for an appearance in this years Omega Flight limited series.
Thor will be back in June in his own new series.
:::Sigh::: Somedays it pays to be the dragon.
Anyone on the forum do anything with Super Hero RPGs like Hero System, D6 or yes, even Mutants and Masterminds 2nd Ed.?
White Wolf has released its first teaser and pre-order information detailing the City of Brass Box Set here.
Looks very promising, but its 69.99. Better have good crunch and fluff and detail in those four books.
I hope its a hot product.

Mind Flayers would be a fun mix if you count "more alien than humanoid" as acceptable. Psionic brain-eating superintelligent medusa! Appendages everywhere!
And you didn't ask for this at all, and I can't quite conceive of the, er, mechanics but...
Beholdermedusa! (a.k.a. Bedusa!) Snakes that shoot death rays coming out of your disembodied, floating head!
I can see a Mind-Flayer/Medusa cross-bred, but only if they were desperate or on the verge of extinction.
Bemusa? Bemusa. Muholdera. I like that name better. Interesting monster design. Highli improbable unless a ritual was involved, but still.....
Lilith wrote: Both the braxat and kopru are in Monster Manual II. Marruspawn, suitably freakish and would go well with a medusa, are in Sandstorm. Phthisic are in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. You can use DM Tools to look up monsters if you don't know where they're from. :D Lilith, you're wonderful. Thank you for the information. I must invite you to my treasure horde sometime....
I'm sure the DM tools will come in handy.

What a girallon?
Lilith wrote: Troll, braxat, doppelganger, gargoyle, goatfolk, harpy, kopru, marruspawn, phthisic. Braxat? Kopru? Marruspawn? Phthisic? Which Books?
Doppelganger or a changling sound like it has potential. I have a goatfolk cleric/lich in the works. Why not a medusa templat on top of that.
Harpy. Again, lethal and amusing.....
Nerak the Numb wrote: Thumbed threw this and found it intriguing. Worth picking up or waste of money? Any opinions would be appreciated. Tome of Magic is beyond a doubt on the most underrated books published by WotC. Frankly, the price alone is worth shelling gold pieces. The Binder and Shadow Mage classes are the high points of the book and can be used to modify fighter and rogue classes with little or no changes in game mechanics. I won't touch the truename class as it’s cumbersome and problematic in a campaign.
I'm looking to create a half-breed abomination. The mother will definitely be a medusa, possibly a medusa wizard, sorcerer, psion, bard, or even a cleric.
I want the father to be a largeer and stronger than normal humanoid. Could anyoneon the list offer a suggestion or two as too what I should select?
The Last Rogue wrote: Can I get some feedback on what people think about Necromancer's Tome of Horror series . . .I like the idea of more monsters, especially OGL ones, but was just wondering if people had any helpful thoughts on the product. Thanks. I have all three, and well they're quite good. They’re worth the purchase, even through ToH I and maybe ToH II are third edition unrevised books.
The monster selection is quite lethal.

Then I massacred civilians in the Mob scene like 4 levels later when the Umber Hulk showed up. No one told me the fireballing the crowd was a bad idea...Needless to say, that was the end of that character. Mass murder usually spells the end for anyone.
You know Ross Byers, there are other less violent methods in handling an umber hulk. A volley or three of magic missiles, 2 or 3 orbs of fire, a few flame arrows readily come to mind. However, when did you realized that throwing a fireball was a bad idea. Was this before or after you completed the spell?
Just a reminder in case you wish to play another wizard sometime in the future.
Wizards just released a new web enhancement for the Dragons of Faerun hardback and Eric L. Boyd writes it. It’s nineteen pages and its quite good for any one wishing to drop this adventure in any given city. It's somewhat updates an NPC from “Wyrms of the North.” series. It’s an older set of articles from Dragon Magazine written by Ed Greenwood.
Go ahead and check it out Eric's PDF at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070425a.
For background information on Nurvureem, "The Dark Lady" check http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/wn/20030730a.
Personally, I'm a fan of Eric's work. I'll scoop up anything he publishes and place it in my lair.

Wizards of the Coast will be offering services to halflings, dwarves and the races of men in an online model. Both companies remain on good terms and continue to discuss future opportunities for publishing partnerships.
If WotC so much as touches the license for the term 'Dragon,' I'll breath blue lightning on them, even from but crack in my buttocks. So help me I will.

Has anyone used the alien species (including rancors. I love rancors.) found in Star Wars d20 Ultimate Alien Anthology in a Dungeons and Dragons Campaign?
Or even a brief adventure.
I'm interested in hearing your imput. It does have to be specific. Planar encounters or new encounters on other alternate Prime Material Planes would interesting.
How would you and how did you set up such encounters?

Swarm shifter could be very good, a good prestige class would be that ashworm rider, I dont have the exact name at the top of my head in sand storm, that is if you arent attached to the griffin.
Wow, axiomatic, vivatios, Dire, Swarm shifter, Ashworm, with a ashworm rider? 5? fighter 5 and warmage 10 and up, sounds powerfull.
Swarm shifter is an undead template according to the Libris Mortis accessory.
I'll check the other books later tonight.
Damn.
Castle Amber will alway have a place in my large blue heart. One of the finest old school modules ever published.
Sad to see you go Tom.
Cone of Pickled Herring is a close second.
Fish.
I like fish.
Why, blue lightning of course.
Heh heh heh heh...

I'd switch Summon Monster I with Unseen Servant if your going to use any critter to spring traps. Unseen servant is versitile and I had a player do that repeatedly with Summon Monster I until one Blue Dragon DM and his adventuring party became angry with him.

Oh, I posted some of my own magical items under "Magical Items to Bring Out the Worst in Your Necromancer." It should be on the boards right now. If you want to use it in a future CC PDF. Go right ahead, but credit me as writer/author/etc.

I'm just moving some stuff off my treasure horde when I spotted these little gems. I must have lost them in my last inventory. Anyway, these little gems are for the most villainous NPC.
Bloodmote Staff
These horrid and thankfully rare arcane staves are the invention of a sadistic vampire mage once in (and presumably still is) the service of Orcus tens of centuries ago. This device functions much like a staff of swarming insects save it summons a bloodmote cloud (Libris Mortis, Pg. 88) in place of an insect plague that moves according to the will of the staff user.
- Summon Swarm (2 Charge)
- Infestation of Maggots (2 Charges)
- Monster Summoning VI: Bloodmote Cloud (3 Charges)
For all purposes, this item carries the evil descriptor.

Craft Staff, Summon Swarm, Infestation of Maggots, Summon Monster VI
Market Price: 49,500 GP
Cost: 24,500 GP + 1,980 XP
Ebon Crystal Ball
When activated, the crystal ball can perform a death watch spell within the ball’s given abilities. A variant on a common scrying device used by necromancers to spy on their enemies, rivals, agents, etc. with the additional ability to keep apace with their physical health and well being.
Strong Divination, Weak Necromancy, Weak Evil CL: 8th
Craft Wondrous Item, Death Watch, Scrying,
Market Price: 45,000 GP
Cost: 22,500 GP + 1,800 XP
Staff of Unyielding Darkness
Crafted my selected lich-necromancers of the Abyss, these dreadful, yet versatile staves and their means of fabrication have made their way onto the various prime material planes and into the hands of fell organizations that can use them to ferment strife and undermine legitimate rule. Several Thieves’ guilds and spy networks have made use of these staves as tools of psychological interrogation and cunning infiltration. The latter is often used to circumnavigate physical safeguards and magical wards.
For all purposes, this item carries the evil descriptor.

- Ray of Exhaustion (1 Charges)

Cost: 67,000 GP + 5360 XP
Well, it's about time.
:::rustles himself off a very large treasure horde and proceeds to the computer terminal:::
The only time "Orcus" and "cheesecake" would be found in the same sentence would be if he was shoving another slice of triple fudge caramel ripple down his Abyssal gullet, the fat bastard. That's why he's "Prince of the Undead", and not "Prince of the Unfed". Hilarious Heirophantasm, but just to let you know, Orcus is my master and he'll be knocking on your doorstep shortly....
I putting together a griffin mount for an hihg-to-epic character, but I want to spruce up the mount with a few templates, good and neutral preferred. Just out of curiosity, which templates would you use for an egyptian-style character/mount. Theology-based templates not needed however.
No undead templates please.

I hear that the buzz over this book is really good, with some of the stuff leaked on the WotC boards getting folks really excited to see the book. I personally can't wait to see it, being the big Star Wars geek that I am. :)

Sadly speaking, I was a fun of the old D6 system because of the modules they produced. They had the feel of the first three movies. When WotC published Star Wras d20 and went to a class system. The book lost its cinematic flavor. The game look more or less like Dragonstar. Well, I'll check out the new revised book, but do not expect me to adhere to the d20 rules and prestige class system.

Star Wars has a new Revised RPG. Will this be an updated version of the d20 system or will it operate with a new set of game rules. Just curious. I'm still partial to the old 6d game. :-)
