Tomorrow night's game will be my 5000th D&D/Pathfinder game session.

Gods, has it been that long? My love affair with D&D started back in 1974 and for a number of years, it was 5-6 game sessions per week. Over the years, I had to cut back due to family and work and relocation so that game sessions are 1-2 per week now.

40 years. My god, I been married less time than that with my wife and we celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.

So how do I know this is my 5000th session? Best guess really. Someone once asked me a few years ago how long I had been playing and how many game sessions that represented. That peaked my curiosity and since my game sessions are fairly regular with few cancellations, I calculated based on my play habits and what I can remember over 40 years.

Since that I made that calculation, I have kept track of play sessions and just recently, noted number 5000 was coming up and that number is tomorrow's session.

How many hours does that represent? My game sessions usually average 4 hours now and I can remember many weekenders when I first started that were all day affairs and 5-6 hour sessions were the norm for around the first 10 years, so I think 25,000+ hours is a fairly accurate (as accurate as I can be certain of since I haven't been tracking since the start)

Just thought I would share as it is certainly a milestone for me. Hopefully I will be around to post for session 7,500. Session 10,000 is probably impossible given my age but hey, why not aim for something.

A great 40 years it has been. And the memories. Thanks, Gary.

With this adventure path being so close to Brevoy and Mivon (River Kingdoms), will there be an article on the Aldori fighting style and the swordpact, including hopefully, a prestige class for the Aldori swordlord.

I have several players who are eager to learn more about the swordpact and I was wondering if information and/or a prestige class will be forthcoming in the Kingmaker AP or Pathfinder.

Greetings,

Part of order # 938015 was for the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide. Its status still shows as pending. Is there a estimate of when this item will ship?

Thank you

Del

I'm was doing some prep work well in advance before my party hits this adventure and I have spotted some problem areas with Malcanthet.

Issue 1: Unless her Diplomacy is a typo, there is absolutely no way that my party (even with a Druid PC with a max rank Diplomacy) is going to have any hope of opposing her Diplomacy. And even if I beef up the party with some items which help Charisma, it still is not going to make a lick of difference. And frankly, unless other groups are playing classes or prestige classes and min/max to the nines to take advantage of Diplomacy and Charisma, I see other groups having the same issue.

Issue 2: My impression of Malcanthet is that she taking the puppetmaster role she is playing way too seriously, based on how she is written and what she attempts with the party. It even states the Malcanthet will do whatever to ensure the party plays her game and on her terms, even if it means dominating the entire group.

So, knowing my group as I do, I can see them going into the encounter with Death Ward and Circle from Protection running. Circle of Protection will not nerf the Malcanthet's Dominate ability but will prevent control. Death Ward should prevent the level drain.

Given that Malcanthet is absolutely determined the party will do what she wants, how will she react to failing to exert control on her dominate? How will she react if her kiss fails to drain 4 levels as stated? Will she take it in stride, knowing that the party are not milk sops to be bend to will of any other demon and liking the challenge that she is going to have to use subtle manuipulation to get what she wants?

Or, she is going to have a hissing fit that she failed to make an example of her absolute power over that one character (by failing to control him/her and failing to drain life levels) and looking bad in front of roomful of followers/worshippers? How bad a hissy fit? Bad enough to attack the party (seems counterprotective to do so, but she as Queen of the Succubus has failed to make an example of that character and meglomania and total chaotic evil being what they are, I can see her trying to destroy her pawns as the immediate object lesson to her court as opposed to the long term goal of bring down Demogorgon)?

Given the meglomania of Malcanthet, I can't see her congratulating the party as to their cleverness and letting the issue lie. And if she goes aggro on the party, it will get very ugly.

Margaret Weis Productions has announced on the Dragonlance.com site that WOTC has cancelled their rights to Dragonlance and will not renew it. Dragonlance will continue to the end of the year then revert to WOTC.

http://www.dragonlance.com/features/articles/10040.aspx

That makes Dragonlance the third casualty after Dragon and Dungeon magazines to whatever unholy that WOTC is planning.

And if WOTC thought their Dungeon / Dragon decision initiated alot of hating....
