Bartimus casts a maximized Firestorm on the tentacular beasty.

SR: 1d20+24=40
Damage 120 FIRE! Damage and DC 28 Reflex for half

Holding for the wall of force clarification...

Bartimus uses his Rod of Greater Metamagic to maximize a Flame Strike and fire it at the mass of tentacles:

90 points of damage and SR: 1d20+24=41

Bartimus will cast dimensional anchor on the mass of tentacular beasty...

Ranged Touch: 1d20+21=29

And then he'll move twenty feet north.

Crow, I think it's me...

Bartimus will cast Heal on Lilliana.

Bartimus feels a sense of impending doom sweep over him and steels himself as best he can.

He casts True Seeing on himself, the better to face the coming evil and then moves to stand behind Lilliana, seeing her strange glassy eyed look.

Sorry, it's been an amazingly strange week.

Bartimus will swear a lot and then cast Spiritual Weapon and send it to I5 to attack whichever (elemental or scorpion, long week, guys) that is the enemy:

Attack, Damage and SR: 1d20+24=25, 1d8+5=6, 1d20+24=33

Bartimus will then take a 5' step north.

Bart will go ahead and cast Divine Favor and allow his divinity to show.

Will save: 1d20+22=32

"Let's see if we can't do a little something about your pretty little summonin' shall we?" Bartimus moves 30 feet north to stand behind the summoned angels and casts....

DIMENSIONAL LOCK, anchored on the center of the pit.

SR: 1d20+24=36

"I've got a meal for him... A meal of PAIN!"

Reflex: 1d20+16=35

Bartimus cracks his neck and stretches. "Let's go get 'em, shall we lads and ladies?"

Initiative: 1d20+6=16

Bartimus will cast Mass Bull's Strength and Mass Bear's Endurance. Everybody get bulky!

OK here's the thread, get the characters converted and let me know when you're ready.

Bartimus is converted and my Rogue 10/Shadowdancer 10 will be ready shortly!

Either way works. I won't be able to fully update til the end of te week I think, that last week really reeked havoc on me here...playing catch-up on both sleep and stuff around the house.

Sounds good, I'll roll up a PC by the end of the week!

Shisumo, that's too bad. I can definitely understand though. There's never enough time in the day.

Do we want to continue without or shall one of one make another character? I can run a rogue if no one else feels strongly.

Bart's now done and posted!

Xaaon of Xen'Drik wrote:
I can run a level 20 encounter if you guys want to do, the playtest is officially over, but hey it might be fun...

I'd be game. Anyone else? Let's see how the nearly epic tier compares!

Bartimus pulls out a flask, takes a long pull and then spits on the corpse of the dragon.

"Not a bad fight for a darnded flying horse!"

Good job Hogarth! That was a ton of math to keep track of, not even including the map! Cheers! So, are we doing anything for 20th level?

hogarth wrote:
(Please let Bartimus be out of fire spells...)

Ha! Ha, I say!

...

Yeah, he's out of fire spells... But not out of tricks, yet.

Bart will move thirty feet northward and cast a Targeted Greater Dispel Magic on the White Fiend!

Copious Rolls against Dispelling: 1d20+18=37, 1d20+18=20, 1d20+18=34, 1d20+18=36, 1d20+18=28

"Hey, you pretty flying HORSE! I got you a nice pointy stick over here! Come and get it!"

Okay, who's up?

Did we crap out here?

hogarth wrote:
How many bloody fire spells do you have!?

My bloody fire spells are a special treat! 1d8 damage/level bloody fire damage! And a reflex save to avoid slipping in the blood and gore...

Seriously, most of the spells that Clerics get that do damage, are fire spells. Gods forbit that Bart ever needs to kill a fire elemental!

Bartimus will move 30 feet closer to the dragon and cast FIRESTORM!

Reflex DC 24, the cubes of fire will cover the dragon and rider and any remaining will be used upward to burn above them.

SR: 1d20+22=28
Damage: 18d6=81

"Burn, you darned white horse!"

hogarth wrote:

Oh...you have True Seeing going too, you nasty fellow -- no mirror image confusion for you. But you're way too far away to cast Energy Drain, though (the range is only 70 ft).

Ah crap! The perils of having a defunct map. Well, mind if I keep those rolls for later and switch tactics? And how far away am I from the wee beastie and rider?

Bartimus moves 30 ft closer and casts Energy Drain:

SR:1d20+22=29
Ranged Touch Attack and Damage: 1d20+19=33, 2d4=7

Whoo hoo!

"Proud words from a glorified horse!"

hogarth wrote:
map: Current map, round 6

The Map's not showing up for me... DOh!

Xaaon of Xen'Drik wrote:

Or a line of Feats that build off of Augmented Summoning, Perhaps one that increases the HD of the summoned creatures.
** spoiler omitted **

That would be neat, but I wonder at the bookkeeping you'd need for that. Maybe if you always summoned the same creature, or maybe a variant where you sacrifice breadth of summoning choices for a slightly more powerful summoned creature? I don't know, needs some beefing up though.

Elmora, Elven Summoner wrote:

I've also come to the conclusion that summoners suck at upper levels. (especially since I gave up evocation spells to be a conjurer...)

I think anytime you have to rely on other creatures to do damage at higher levels, it's going to suck. Because that CR 12 creature you can summon isn't going to hold a candle to the CR 20 creature you're fighting, not even if you summon four of them. Maybe the conjurer needs a prestige class to supplement his conjuring?

"Damnable fiends! Take that again!"

Bartimus wields the rod and casts another FLAMESTRIKE MAXIMUS!

Damage = 90, half fire and half holy butt-kickin'! Reflex DC 21 for half.

SR= 1d20+22=24

Aimed at the Giant, of course, for maximum nasty! And then Bart will move 30 feet closer to the evil pair!

Is it the next round or are we still waiting on someone?

Grumble Grog wrote:

"GROG!"

"Let's get to this fight Dragon, I'll wear your hide as boots so I might walk on your hide every day after your death!"

"Arse, mate! You wanna walk on his arse!"

Okay, no Freedom yet, then.

Bart will move thirty feet closer to the dragon/giant, aiming for a clear view of them and drawing the rod metamagic as he goes.

MAXIMIZED FLAMESTIKE, aiming for the rider and dragon, DC 21 Reflex for half, Spell Penetration: 1d20+22=31

90 points of damage, half fire and half drunken divine fury!

On his next action, Bart will cast Freedom of Movement and move thirty feet north.

Tialla Cloudstep wrote:

Since no one seems interested...

Still invisible, Tialla waves her wand, willing it to function in the way she has long since mastered. In moments, she is elsewhere, her wings flapping slowly and quietly as she hovers in the air, looking to catch up on the situation.

Use wand to dimension door to 32,12. (I autosucceed on the Use Magic Device check to activate the wand.) Tialla will hover, again autosucceeding on the necessary Fly check, while she takes in the situation.

Sorry, T, I was home sick and nursing a sick two year old yesterday. Bad combination. Can you take Bartimus along with you?

I'm not looking for the spells, I'm watching for the dragon and giant!
There's a a bunch of pillars blocking your view of box #3 (assuming that's where the enemies are).

I'm not assuming, Bart's watching EVERYWHERE. Scanning the skies, watching the ground, keeping his gaze watchful and moving fast. This is a dragon, after all: you don't assume anything.

hogarth wrote:

It doesn't matter what you roll for Perception -- my ruling is that it's a DC 0 Perception check to hear the spellcasting, and at this distance you automatically succeed. Likewise, you can't fail the Spellcraft check to ID the spells.

I'm not looking for the spells, I'm watching for the dragon and giant!

And no enlarge for me, thanks. I need my AC as high as I can get!

Bart casts Divine Favor, then moves to 41,56, keeping his True Seeing eyes open for any movement.

Perception: 1d20+26=27
Wow. That was underwhelming. Also, corrupt weapon? I don't know that one..

Bartimus stays put and casts True Seeing on himself.

Bart will cast Resist Energy: Cold on himself and move to 35,55 to keep an eye out for lurkers.

Perception: 1d20+26=30

Bartimus casts Mass Bull's Strength on the party and activates his Ring of Force Shield as a free action. He's got his rapier in his hand, and his rod at an easily reached spot on his back. He'll also give a brief pep talk to the lads:

"Men, Women, persons of indistinct gender: Hear my words. The evil that giants do often live on after their deaths, but I come not to bury the Giant, but to utterly disgrace his damnable eyes. Ask not what the giant can do to you, ask what you can defile of the giant's! We have nothing to fear but dragonfear itself! Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of battle!"

Init: 1d20+6=26

Wow! Good start for Bart!

Bartimus spent the next few hours picking barbed spines out of his orifices. The healing spells alone took three hours...

However, he'd love to join Grog in inaugurating that horned beer stein!

Bart's now updated. You get a LOT of gold at 18th level. I shudder to think what 20th level will look like!

Well that was a little more interesting than the lions!

Spoiler:
Grappled: A grappled creature is being restrained
by another creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures
cannot move and take a –4 penalty to their Dexterity.
A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack
rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made
to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled
creatures can take no action that requires two hands
to perform. A grappled character that attempts to cast
a spell must make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + the spell’s
level) or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make
attacks of opportunity.

Okay... Bartimus will channel energy to turn the outsiders and heal his friends within 30 feet, himself included.

Channel Energy: 8d6=25 Will save DC 20 for half for the outsiders.

It seems to me that Might of the Gods, the 8th level Strength domain power really ought to apply to checks to escape being grappled. Seems like a natural use of the power.

So much writing!

Bartimus will lay down a Chaos Hammer on the evil devils! "By Cayden Cailean, you lawful bastards will eat my righteous chaotic fury! Ooga Booga!" THAT's how chaotic I am! I make strange noises!

SR: 1d20+17=23
Damage: 10d6=32, 1d6=2 Slowed for 2 rounds; Will Save DC 19 halves damage and negates the slowing effect.

After that, Bart will move to behind Sleepy, opposite the barbed devil and make ready to lay down some righteous healing!

Bartimus will lay down a righteous evil outsider channeling on the fiends, trying to catch as many as I can.

Damage: 8d6=24
Will Save DC 20 for half.

Initiative: 1d20+4=19
