While I like these characters and their relations I think its unwise to take a 6 month break. But when you return to the boards please PM me and we can do something. I'd welcome playing again with any of you. And if we could get a GM to pick up the game I'd certainly stay.

Good luck with this new phase of your life. Without being too critical of the Army I'll just caution you to manage your expectations. I am sure you will do fine but you might not be happy with everything that goes along with Army life. Its certainly not for everybody.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Looking to the druid Beorn asks Guide me. Is the land better off without these vermin? Should we destroy the eggs?

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn steps up and slices at the critter. Would like to use my roll above if ok.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn waits for Saniana to step back. Auto correct changed your name to Santana. lol. It even changes it when I paste your name in. Sorry about that.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Hmm. I think I was expecting the bugs to come out of the other exit. Now I get it.

Back out Santana. Let me up there.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Are they ever coming up to where we are? Beorn has been ready for that for more than a week. :)

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn maintains his ready action to chop a bug when it gets into range.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Ok. The. He will move up to the grease and ready an action to attack the creature when it comes to him.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Dont we have to finish these centipedes first?

Bug Chop: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 2 = 112d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 4 + 3 = 15

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Not feeling inclined to let the evil fey flee only to attack the group later and in greater number, Beorn swings at the creature when it exposes itself.

MW Greataxe, AOO: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 - 2 = 172d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + 3 = 12

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Concerned for the little gnome Beorn advances in the cramped space and swings his axe at the nasty little fey, flanking with the badger.

MW Greataxe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 2 - 2 = 212d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 + 3 = 13

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I guess its -2 for medium sized creatures regardless of weapon size? Beorn could switch to his cold iron dagger if it made a difference.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Born will take 10 to fast climb Taking -5 to climb to move at half speed instead of quarter speed. down for a total of 10 and make it down to to the bottom as a full round of movement.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn was distracted with plans to dig a mass grave, or perhaps build a carn for all the bodies strown about. It was not proper to let the bodies of even enemies rot on the ground. And so he was surprised when Saniana scampered down the hole. He rapidly dismounted and prepared a rope so that he could follow. Wait Saniana. He called after her, worry in his tone.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Can anyone make a magical light? I am gonna need a light down there

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn stays mounted in case he need to charge forward to help their brave scout. He waits anxiously for a signal from her.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn draws his axe and nods Ready.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I'd rather go take care of the mites now and not wait 9 days for Oleg to return. Someone can borrow Beorn's cold iron dagger if they like.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

OK. With those numbers here is what I am thinking for Beorn. Comments welcome.

He has the masterwork greataxe that the party found. He would prefer a greatsword but functionally they are not different enough for him to pay an upgrade price. One is a X2 19-20 crit that does 2d6 and the other is a X3 20 cirt that does a d12. Functionally about the same. So he keeps the axe and sells the sword for 25 gp. Likewise he wants better armor and can sell his starting armor for 25 gold, but not until the replacement armor comes in. But that gives him 597 to work with. That will not quite get him into heavy armor so he will with a masterwork breastplate for 350 gold. Its only 1 more point of AC but the masterwork quality reduces Armor check penalty by 1 as well. This will be Beorn's armor until he can afford full plate. for 200 more he could make it Agile but I am not sure its worth it.

So he will order:
1 Masterwork Breastplate 350 gp
2 alchemist's Fire 50gp
2 Alchemist Acid 20gp
2 Vermin Repellent 10 gp
1 Healers Kit 50 gp
1 Surgeon's tools 20gp
50 cold iron arrows 5 gp
1 Cold Iron Morningstar 16 gold
Total = 521 gp

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I am good with all of this. I do want to state again that Beorn will gladly give up the Mithral dagger as he will likely never use it unless he fights a devil or were. It is a masterwork dagger so someone who uses such a blade might want to claim it. But if no one claims it he will offer to buy it at half price from the group. Its worth 500 so he would offer 250 from his gold share.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

That sounds good but I sorta need to know a relative value for my split before I can create a wish list.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Thinking it through I am not in favor of either waiting for supplies to be delivered before we attack the mites or of spending a lot of money on cold iron weapons. Beorn does enough damage that he can bypass their DR and he can loan a Cold Iron dagger to someone else. Lets go kill some mites. :)

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Here are some general rambling thoughts.

I think we have enough potions of Cure Light for each of us to claim one.

Beorn already has the masterwork axe, though long term he will return this to the party and eventually get a masterwork great sword. Looks like he also has a potion of Cure Light and an antitoxin as indicated by the spreadsheet.

I recommend that someone claim that mithril dagger and will take it if no one else claims it. Also Beorn would love to have the cloak of resistance if others are hesitant to claim it. But this is something that anyone can use and all would benefit from. Unless I hear a protest I'll claim the cloak.

Unsure what we can do with the meteorite but am against selling it. Beorn would love one day to have an adamantine weapon.

Seems like we had some reason to keep the 8 bottles of liquor in polished wooden case but for the life of me I cannot recall why.

I recommend we sell a few of the potentially useful items as we need the gold to get the gear we actually need. But lets not sell any healing items or alchemicals.

If we have someone who can disable devices they should take the MW thieves tools.

I fear the MW sickle is the wrong size for Saniana so we should sell it.

I am tempted to keep a MX thowing axe but we are better off with the money so sell them both.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn is cool with Harrolayne claiming any items she can use, even if before her time as well. But I do have to point out the glitch in your logic. You said: " tend to think of scrolls and potions as party loot, rather than shares. Everybody benefits from the wizard casting a scroll or the fighter drinking a blur potion, etc."

This is really true of every item we find and hand out to a party member. If we find a magic sword and give it to Beorn I assure you that everyone will benefit. If we find a belt of dex and give it to Rosetta, ditto. I hope to be generous but the only way to track wealth is to just track it. That said its fine for the party to own some things too - mostly healing I think.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I've been quite bad at paying attention to loot in this AP. Its partly because my character is not loot focused at all. I'd appreciate your efforts to sort out past loot and help track loot in general Kas. I am not sure I have the bandwidth. This entire week I have been spending 12 hours + a day at a hospital where my mother is recovering from a minor heart attack. She is 79 and is just very slow at recovering.

So many different ways to do loot division. I my home game the party sets aside a half share of money for party needs. Its not a bad idea at all to have a party fund to buy group healing and such with.

What I seem most of on the boards is a somewhat socialistic approach to loot division where items are handed out based on needier best match to a character and gold is divided equally regardless of who got what loot. This is fine with me, especially with Beorn, but is never my choice of division.I prefer a more forced equitable distribution where Beorn might not get a cut of gold if he got the +1 great sword we just found. If you are already tracking look on a spreadsheet its pretty easy to track loot value too.

On group I was in took this to the extreme and did not divide gold but kept all treasure as party treasure. Items were handed out but "charged" to players. Whenever we sold any loot and got more gold the person with the lowest gold piece gear total could buy something for their character, spending up to half the total gold. Then the next lowest person could buy something. This strange system actually maximized party potential as instead of 4 characters saving for stay a stat boost item and having 1000 gp each, one character could go ahead and buy it. I am not proposing we do this so much as just wanting to mention it as an interesting alternative. Maybe too much accounting, but there is an advantage.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Yes, if you do not have a cold iron great sword or great axe best pick one up for me. We will need cold iron arrows as well.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I've this cold iron dagger, but was wondering if you had any larger weapons of the dull metal?

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Indeed. Its the mite's number has come up.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Its good to be back Oleg. Now what chores can I help with?

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

This sounds reasonable to me. I say let the dead rest.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Before Leaving

The Paladin pulls Garuum aside and has a private word with him.

private word:

Garuum, Myvas is young and I hope impressionable. As a green dragon it is in his nature to become evil, even if he is still a good protector of wild place. We must prevent this. You have already proven yourself to me. So be his good example and guide him gently towards the path of good. It is my hope that our actions and guidance will be enough for him to overcome his bread in nature.[/b]

Beorn puts his arm around the small dragon's shoulder for a moment. You can trust us Myvas. We are your friends and always will be. You will grow up to be a great guardian of these lands and a powerful ally and wise advisor for us all. Goodby for now.

Always wanted a dragon advisor. :)

Now - Why is our halfling leaving us?

Beorn looks carefully at the grave site. Interesting. Can you tell the tribe or how many people are buried here? I do no know the social norms of the barbarians from this area but would assume that disturbing one of their graves would anger them.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

More Aid to diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Not just any dragon Garuum. Beon says soothingly. This is our new friend friend Myvas, a beautiful and fierce green dragon who shall live here with you. You will catch fish for her and her presence here will fill the hearts of your enemies with fear. Soon I am sure the two of you will be fast friends and with a dragon present I am sure your overall uck with greatly increase as well. I mean who would not want to live with a dragon!

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Paladin is down 3 points still and would accept 3 berries.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I am going on travel for work tomorrow through Thursday and then directly to Dragon Con for the weekend. I'll have my laptop and will try to keep up through Thursday but after that my time will likely be eaten by the con. Will be home late Monday September 4. Bot me as needed.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Not sure I understand. Bless does not add extra damage.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I did forget. Thanks Kas. With Bless that makes the attack above an 18 to hit

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Harrolayne, I do not see a flanking buddy helping Beorn. Did you place one?

Seeing little choice, and not bolstered with diving protection , Beorn continues the fight. He power attacks against the enemy the eagle is flanking.

Lay On Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Great Axe: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 171d12 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 = 12

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Having been more successful than perhaps he intended at pulling the enemy to him Beorn lays hands on himself, closing some of the wound he jost took. He then power attacks the Boggand whose tongue is attached to his breastplate.

Lay On Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Great Axe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d12 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 3 = 15

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn will double move on horseback to get to the location shown. As he rides he calls out Garuum, have hope. We have returned.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn continues to watch the little man, waiting for some response to his call for a song.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn smiles down at the little guy and then offers Well if you are going to eat our food you should at least sing for your supper.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Beorn takes in the strange little strange. Well, what do we have here? a fearless interloper who demands supper from us. Beorn sounds challenging but he is smiling. Tell us small brave one, where have you come from to suddenly join us by our fire. Do you seek us?

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

On the trip Beorn tries to entertain the young wyrm with tales of heroes and valor, always showing good deeds and good behavior in the best of light and sometimes substituting the hero for dragons. The indoctrination has begun. :)

When Myvas complains Beorn encourages Come now, this is your first real chance to see some of the world. All these lands will become your hunting grounds and areas you protect from bandits like the one that stole you away from your parents.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

For future scrolls just take 10. Unless it is quite high level, above what you can safely use at moment, you should get it. That is as long as you keep increasing Spellcraft as you level.

Yes, I think you and Garuum will make a great team as any of his enemies would obviously be too afraid to harm with you about. Beorn compliments while also readying the the dragon for the idea that Garuum might have enemies. Lets home Garuum thinks so too.

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

I can fish and will gladly share my catch, but you know who can really fish? Our friend Garum. I mean he is a great swimmer and is at much at home in the water is he is on the land. I bet if you went to stay with him then he could catch you all kinds of fish.

Beorn is willing to try to help "raise" this creature "right" but I am unsure if he can be a strong enough influence on him while adventuring unless the little dragon comes with him, and that is not really reasonable. Thoughts? Having a dragon friend as we build a kingdom would be ever so cool. :)[/ooc]

M Human (Ulfen) Paladin 2 AC 16/11/15 / HP 19/22 / F +7 R +3 W +5 / Init. +1 / Perc. +6 / Sense Motive +4

Perhaps she knows more about the nature of green dragons than does Beorn... OOC I think that all "colored" and not "metallic" dragons are inherently evil green dragons do have an affinity for nature and protecting it so I am hoping our druid will want to try to befriend it. I think back in 3. they could even be summoned under Summon Nature's Ally and way back Rangers (good alignment) could get them as allies or followers.
