Background:
Belzoni, the brute force rogue archaeologist, is based on the real life brute force archaeologist as described by C.W. Ceram in Gods, Graves and Scholars, here is the wiki page for him, although it paints a much nicer picture.
Giovanni Battista Belzoni
He is a mountain of a man at 6'7", one of 14 children, a former barber, circus strongman, and a prolific explorer and archaeologist of Egyptian Osirian antiquities. He is known for his interest in Phantasmagoria and his use of magic lanterns in his circus shows.

He was last delving into an ancient tomb looking for loot, maybe he uncovered something far more sinister than a mummy's curse...
