(Male Human Rogue 14)

Encouraged by Stiggy’s success, Beldan full-attacks with his rapier.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28 Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 7d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (1, 3, 3, 3, 5, 3, 3) = 27
Attack 2 (haste): 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43 Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 7d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (3, 2, 5, 6, 2, 4, 1) = 32
Attack 3: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35 Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 7d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (1, 4, 2, 6, 1, 5, 5) = 30
First successful attack also does 7 points of bleed damage and 2 strength damage.
EDIT: crit confirm roll for attack 2:1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 34 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
crit confirm roll for attack 3: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Did Stig damage him?

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Altai, Pip, can one of you tell what defensive spells this joker has before I skewer him?” Beldan calls.

Identifying a spell in place is a Knowledge, Arcana check, DC is 20 + spell level. Trying to figure out if this guy has fire shield, stoneskin, anything like that.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

That was the plan. Bel will wait till Pip glitterdusts him.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Dino is huge, so would have to squeeze down the passage. If/ when the first spider falls, might be worth getting Stig in there to lay some smackdown.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 to pinpoint the location of the voice.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

"Send more spiders!!"

(Male Human Rogue 14)

So does the spider in KL 28 – 29 appear to be in melee with something?
If so, Beldan flies (with his cloak) as close as he can to the ceiling to land in K33. Then he’ll stab in front of himself (into K32) with his rapier. 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42 Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 26 (low misses)

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Ref: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Bueller .... Bueller ...

Not sure if Pat or Kruel are about?

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Alright, we’re hasted (unless it ran out), so Bel has an action left. He’ll whip out the lightning thrower.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Damned troll. Just like them to turn up, cause a ruckus, then disappear ... I’ll see if I can see it.”

Sneak to J26 and peer around the corner. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (13) + 33 = 46 Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35

"Eeek! Warn a man before you send spiders like that past him Altai ... oh, you did ..."

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Ok, Beldan’s waiting to see if anyone can dispel the wall of fire. Otherwise he’ll try to fly over the top of it.

Next round! ;P

No one’s taken their action this round yet – unless you have something else in mind of course.

Stiggy is unaffected standing in the orb.

What's the ceiling height?

(Male Human Rogue 14)

I think I figured out why I am so lost in this fight ... I made a map at work, left it there, then made another one at home. The one at home I put the numbers going down the page rather than up, switching between them I have been getting very lost with everyone’s position.

Anyway, I think I just moved Beldan real close to a giant earth elemental. Don’t want to be there! Make his position hiding in A26.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan, healed up by Hnoss’s magic, sneaks across to E24 (around the pit) 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (13) + 33 = 46, putting his finger to his lips as he passes the slave-dwarves, then looks and listens for sound or sight of the hidden troll. Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 with 60 foot darkvision.

Got another action depending on what he sees or not.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

I’ve been trying to update my map on and off over half the day and can’t figure out what’s where, what’s alive, what’s dead … anyway …

Beldan, mashed by the dinosaur, confused by all the appearing, disappearing, hitting and dying, and not able to hit anything with his crossbow, doesn’t much feel like getting down and dirty with any of the bad guys left standing at the moment.

He whispers softly to his companions, “Troll’s around the corner,” and slinks back into the shadows 5 foot step to A19, carrying stealth result of 50 from last round. Draw a potion of cure moderate wounds and drink it down for 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 1) + 3 = 11

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Holy crap in a box!” Beldan tries to dodge away from the giant prehistoric prebird. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan sneaks out to B9 Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (17) + 33 = 50 then levels and unloads his crossbow at the wounded translucent skinned dude in E15 in what is hopefully a sneak attack.

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19 Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 + 7d6 ⇒ (5) + 11 + (5) + (6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 3) = 46 plus 6 bleed plus 2 strength. If they’re resistant to electrical that is the 1d6 in there.

Don't worry, I'll bet altai doesn't read this thread. My lips are sealed. ;-)

Thanx! I guess I was looking it up as a "G" word. Duuh....

Hmmmm...

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Whoa, that’s a lot of bright spells …”

Beldan grabs the edge of his cloak then flies across the cavern (avoiding AoO’s from the behir and the urdefhans if he can, if the behir has enough reach to get him he’ll hope for the best) and land to hide under the petrified behir in A17. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (6) + 33 = 39

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Map's at work, so need to re-figure where everyone's at. Might take me a bit - and going out for lunch soon.

Reflex save 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Reflex save 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32

Beldan dodges nimbly aside from the lightning blast, ducks as the fireball explodes overhead, then uses the fading light of the energy attacks to see where the guys who shot at him got to.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan sneaks forward to the corner with whoever else is coming that far. Once they are in place and ready to act, he sneaks further into the room to D10 with his crossbow ready and loaded, keeping an eye out to see if he is noticed. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (20) + 33 = 53, Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

Once in place he’ll fire at the lizard in ABC 16-18: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 7 + 6d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (6, 6, 3, 3, 6, 1) = 33 plus 1d6 ⇒ 1 electricity if they’re not immune, plus 6 bleed plus 2 strength damage. Initiative: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

EDIT: his stealth check to remain hidden after the attack is 33.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Sounds good. I want to get in a surprise round crossbow attack, which means I’ll need to get to about row 10. Should be able to manage it in the dark with a good stealth roll, depending on what sort of senses these things have. How much light are the dwarves helmets putting out?
Altai, are you able to target the more distant lizard with your grease spell? Only real issue I see is that if it falls it might squash one of the dwarfs.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“I don’t know if they were dwarves as such,” Beldan whispers back. “They were short and underground, so I drew the obvious conclusion. But they looked kind of skinny and skenky too ... I don’t know, they might have been gnomes ...”

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Those lizard things look evil to me,” whispers Beldan, “or at least unfriendly. I say we take them. If the dwarf guys don’t attack us we should leave them be, I think they’re slaves. Maybe they’ll help us if we set them free?”

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan tiptoes back to the others and whispers. “There’s a bunch of depressing dwarf-looking fellows with pick axes and lanterns on their heads hacking away at the walls. About ten of them. Then theres two things that look like big lizard, dragon things but with lots of legs, clinging to the walls. Each of them have two riders. Ah, and kind of in the middle of the place theres this dome of shimmering energy.”

Did I see what the lizard riders were? Were the dwarf guys shackled or anything? Was the hald-globe of energy on the floor – like a dome rising up from the floor?

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan stealths across to G5, then peers around the corner. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (6) + 33 = 39, Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 (+4 for traps)

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan heads back to the main group, on foot, scanning the passage for traps Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27 as he goes.

When he gets back he reports, “passage seems clear ahead for at least 100 feet or so, around a few twists and turns. Then I heard something. Yeah, maybe miners Altai … I don’t know what a ninja is to be honest. It sounds like it’d be pretty pansy though, throwing stars around like that. Does it throw rainbows and unicorns as well? Anyway, we’ll head back to where I got to and then I’ll scout ahead again.”

So Beldan will head towards where he heard the sound, on foot this time: Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (19) + 33 = 52, Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33 (extra +4 for traps)

(Male Human Rogue 14)

At the bellow, Beldan sighs. “I guess I’ll scout ahead,” he says.

He grabs the edges of his cloak and turns into a bat, then flaps off down the corridor to scout ahead. Stealth: 1d20 + 37 ⇒ (5) + 37 = 42 Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 (further +4 for traps). He has darkvision and blindsense in this form.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

"Wow. That thing was ugly."

Beldan looks at the grotesque corpse, then at the hallway ahead.

"Keep going?"

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Alright, I had lost my map and didn’t realise that just about everyone had moved into melee range already. Can we retcon a little, say that Beldan took his turn last round to move to G15? That way, Pip’s haste spell can get Bel, Altai, Gjetost, Elgan and Claw (I think Stig, Hnoss and Vilya were already affected by Altai’s spell – either way we’ve got pretty much the whole group now.

THIS round, Beldan tumbles (acrobatics: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (20) + 27 = 47 to G11, and, flanking with Vilya, makes a sneak attack with his rapier: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28 Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 7d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (4, 4, 4, 2, 4, 5, 6) = 34 + 6 bleed + 2 strength damage.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Bel's still delaying, he wants that haste spell that Pip's going to lay down this round ... and he's really wary about getting too close to that thing.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Yeah, we’ve had a rolling series of illness here for the past two weeks or so. It’s come full circle now; started with my son, now he seems to be sick again.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Sorry ... Beldan is continuing to delay until after the troll-dog thing goes (and I can find my map).

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan will delay for a wee bit, see if Pip or someone is going to drop a haste or some buffs on the group first.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Stig can get to about E12 (slightly ahead of Vilya) if he wants to double move towards the thing. I’d put Vilya in B13, that puts her in a slightly better position to move around the thing to flank it next round or the one after. Unless she wants to tumble through its reach.

In my online pbp, Riese, played by fake healer, was a gay wizard, so I was always kinda searching for an interesting plot hook along those lines.

I kinda miss ol' Riese ... I mean he was as bossy as all hell, but at least when he was around people didn't start looking at me for leadership ... I know I'm going to mess up sooner or later ...

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Whoa ...” Beldan, in the process of climbing down into the room, opts for discretion as the better part of valour, and scrambles for a hiding spot amongst or beside the pile of bones that lead down into the room.

Looking for a hiding space, maybe in the shadow of the bone pile at about G24 if that will suit. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (14) + 33 = 47

(Male Human Rogue 14)

init: 1d20 ⇒ 18

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Once everyone’s up, Bel will begin to climb carefully down into the room. Climb: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27, Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (11) + 33 = 44, Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31 (additional +4 for traps)

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan continues to keep an eye on things, and points out the suspicious pile of bones to whoever comes up next (presumably Stig). “Them bones ain’t right,” he whispers.

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan, having a much easier time balancing on the ‘window’ ledge than the giant, fishes his fifty foot length of silk rope from his pack. “Here Gjetost, hold one end of this,” he says, and, once the giant does so, tosses the other end down for the rest of the group to climb up. “Lean back and brace against the wall above the opening,” he advises the giant, then looks through the window with his goggles of night, keeping an eye out for danger as the others climb up. Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Beldan points out the spikes he notices to those coming behind, and slows his climb, keeping a closer eye out for any more similar or more elaborate traps. Climb: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27, Perception (traps): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25

(Male Human Rogue 14)

Perception (traps): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23

(Male Human Rogue 14)

I just spent 4 weeks working my ass off... then... the company I was working with burned down. WTF?

As in ... literally burned down? Or are you speaking figuratively?

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Just what I was about to suggest Altai, good show,” says Beldan with a glance at Hnoss, belatedly remembering that he is supposed to be the boss.

With a last dubious look at the pile of bones, he begins to climb. Climb: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29

(Male Human Rogue 14)

“Alright ... well thanks. Sorry again about your sons. Guess we’ll be on our way out now ...” Beldan begins backing out of the cabin, uncomfortable talking to this giant one-eyed seeress who has taken the murder of her fourteen sons so calmly.

“Where too next chums?” he asks. “Straight for the trolls, or do we check out the standing stones?”
