Hmm the wolf is not even paying attention to me huh, Beilin grips his quarterstaff with both hands and steps into I13 bringing down the staff square on the back of the wolf. come on dice don't fail me now
hmm might be time for an old fashioned dice cleansing....beilin turns to the bookshelf and pulls out the Hackmaster Players guide "I am sure it's in here somewhere." On my first round initiative I will stow my bow and grab my quarterstaff, taking a five foot step into G17. Second round initiative will be to move into a position to assist Bandar if he is still fighting a wolf. I will fight defensively (pfrpg pg.184) while attempting to aid another to give Bandar a +2 to attack(pfrpg pg.197). Modified AC: 18 Aid Another roll DC:10 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7 well I suppose I assist by giving the wolf a second target lol
Remember the +1 atk/damage as I continue to inspire and encourage you guys and gals. round 2 inspire courage. Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 damn so close Surprise action: Let loose arrow into the alpha wolf
Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 "Get on little doggy" Beilin will use his oration skills to inspire courage and confidence in his companions. He will mock the wolves in a singsong voice while interweaving the good actions of his companions around him too further bolster their resolve. Bardic Ability: Inspire Courage: +1 attack/damage +1 save vs. fear/charm oi my "dice" gone bad "Hmm something is out there, maybe we should wake the others?" Beilin puts his back to the fire while holding his bow, the next time he detects a disturbance he will cast dancing lights (PFRPG pg 263 choosing the four lantern option) each lantern at a the edge of a 10' radius circle centered where he heard the noise. If nothing is there he will spend the next ten minutes recasting the spell (every minute) and sweeping the area within 110 feet of the camp with this "spot light". Set up my tent and get my gear inside then I will help with getting a fire going so we can keep warm. "Ah it would threaten to storm the night we are away from the taproom. We should make sure we have a watch tonight. I am not so sure about what those "orcs" were up to but we should take care to keep an eye out for who or what was messing with us back there." Tarlane wrote: Ah, but isn't the trip there part of the fun? Especially now that it looks like none of you guys have survival anymore. Heh fully, maybe I should multi-class into ranger (have been thinking about it). Luckily Knowledge: Nature is considered an untrained skill for me. And your absolutely correct the trip is most often just as much fun as the destination. "Huh, what the, where in Desna's name did they go? Beilin is obviously surprised and somewhat shocked by the potency of his spell, perhaps he misspoke while casting it and somehow magicked the orcs away as well. It takes him a few minutes too calm his outward emotions, before he settles into a smug smile. It worked, it actually worked just as I planned it he thinks to himself, proudly. Beilin picks up his pack and un-strings his bow. Before walking forward to examine where the orcs fell. "Orcs? This close to town?" Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Seeing how the orcs are all bunched up and standing precariously atop the logs Beilin grabs a pinch of sand from a pouch and begins to cast the spell sleep centered on the center orc. casting time: 1 round
If a companion enters the range of the spell before I begin to cast, I will instead drop my pack, string my bow, then knock an arrow. Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Beilin inwardly smiles as his companions draw weapons hastily all around him. He tries to imagine how the group would appear to would be ambushers, decidedly like novices no doubt. He loosely holds his quarterstaff, leaning on it as he listens and looks all around as nonchalantly as possible. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 If my experience growing up here and my general knowledge of the local area + my bardic knowledge leads me to believe either first hand or second hand that there is a shortcut through the woods. I will apply all of my charm and diplomacy trying to convince the group that we should take it, after all we are on an adventure who stays on the main road in an adventure. don't feel too bad Veilos based on my roll I was probably trying to align my map segment with how you had yours oriented. "Well then shall we head off gents?"
As he walks he fishes the torn piece of a map from his pocket, scrutinizing it for any clue, but for the most part it reveals very little. do we actually know the way to the crypt? Also what kind of wilderness are we expecting (flora/fauna)?
Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 In regards to a point man probably Thindar the ranger would be the logical choice, what say you all? Beilin struggles to organize the contents of his pack, as he does so he comes across the small torn fragment of the map. "Eh? What's this now?" He holds it up to look at before shrugging and sliding it into his pocket. "hmm, maybe this will come in handy later." After carefully repacking his bag he is also saddened not to find a flask of brandy. Once his pack is on and he is ready to go he will begin to fidget with his quarterstaff, twirling it around in his hands. Inward Reflection At the mention of who would carry the torch, Beilin perks up, it should be me. Then after a moment of reflection he decides that it would be a bad idea for him to be responsible for the flame on account of how many unusual things seem to happen to him especially when in a position of responsibility. Kind of like the time when the gates to Farmer Marls pig pen broke while Beilin was feeding the animals. It wasn't his fault the dirty swines trampled the neighbors prize tulips and then moved on to drag down a whole farmhouses linens through the muddy pastures, but to hear the town elders talk about it you would think I planned the whole thing training the pigs and what not. No if I carried the flame a giant hawk would swoop down and snatch the whole lantern, or a sudden windstorm would knock it out of my hand and extinguish it, better to leave this kind of responsibility to one of the favored sons of Kassen. Beilin accepts the pack from Mayor Uptal graciously thanking him for the chance. The mayor pauses briefly as if questioning the judgment of allowing Beilin to participate, just for a second before moving on to the next youth. do we have a seperate OOC discussion thread or will we continue to use the initial connection thread? And what dice rolling convention would you prefer? Sorry no post yesterday, router problems kept me offline for the day, fixed now. Beilin leans back feet propped up on a bench, his belly full of ale and food, a warm hearth at his back and the laughter and banter of his companions all around. It's times like this he wished he had paid better attention to the Jocyn's lessons a slowly plucked mandolin would fit the mood perfectly. Perhaps another time, until then he mumbles/hums the tune to the story of Tallman Tuk a tale of an extraordinary woodsman who's travels across the horizon always ended well. "Hey, what time is this adventure supposed to start again?"
What a curious old man Beilin thinks to himself. And celebrate what victory? Everyone knows it's really just a tradition to be fulfilled their is no real excitement or real adventure, certainly nothing like what this mysterious man has had in the past. We just travel the well trod path light a torch and then come back to town, usually this is done by the town elders, what danger could there really be? In an effort to not spoil the mood Beilin does not share these feelings out loud. Beilin wonders also what is wrong with the ale, why is it so many seem hesitant to drink it. "Well then Desna favor your path as it rolls out ahead of you Cygar and fill it with new and exciting experiences" adding almost sarcastically "such as we will surely have tomorrow." I brought back the extra tankards of ale assuming you would take one Naria "Well-met Cygar, would you sit and join us?" I ask while sliding the last remaining tankard towards him.
Beilin's questions are filled with natural curiosity, his attention now upon Cygar and his intent is to plumb him for information on the outside world. Beilin does not display any of the cultural reservations commonly prevalent in a small community. He sees each newcomer as a potential source of knowledge. Thindar Darkblood wrote:
Beilin saunters off to retrieve the refills, returning a few moments later with a pair of tankards in each hand and a muffin held in his mouth. "mugh melf mewt" Setting the tankards down and removing the muffin from his mouth he resettles into his chair. Scooting a pair of tankards to the shy big man. "There you are friend" "True words Thindar, that speak great wisdom, eat when you can." Looking sidelong at Veilos "Is there such a thing as unnecessary drink?" With that and as if to agree with Veilos's laughter Beilin tips his tankard upright and drains it all, meticulously wiping his chin afterwards. "Oh my I seem to be empty again, Veilos your cup looks dry shall I fetch you another round as well? What about you Thindar? Naria?" Beilin seeing the gathering of "heroes" gets another full tankard of ale and swaggers over to join them. Did you see the cake, oh man Trelvar has outdone himself this time, the cake is almost as big as the table in the kitchen and the frosting is soooo delicious I just had to try some. What you lads, oh and lady up to? Beilin lands heavily in a chair with the group. Stirred by the energy in the room and happy to be at the center of attention Beilin nods to the half-elf Velios who has offered to dance with the child. Winking towards Asina, whom Beilin has often felt an older brother too he selects a song he knows she especially likes. "The wind in the trees" a local song and celebration of changing seasons seems a perfect fit for this time of year. Backed by Jocyn the duo plays to the clapping of the gathered crowd. At the completion of the song and with a little flourish Beilin pulls a fiddle out of thin air to the amazement of the crowd (summon instrument cantrip), magicked fiddle in hand he plays the rousing opening bars to the song "3 stomps" a fast paced whimsical song about a town enchanted by the presence of Shelyn (goddess of love). Midway through the song as the summon instrument expires he will cast it again transforming the fiddle into a whistle continuing without losing a breath." "Thistle love" then "5 crowns" before taking a break for refreshments. Beilin takes in the scene of the busy taproom over the feast day table filled with plates of steaming food and flagons of frosty ale. Tilting his own flagon deeply he revels in the moment. Wiping the ale from his smooth chin he begins to recount the tale of the village of Kassen and it's founding fathers to any who will listen. He adds a great deal of embellishment to the conflicts facing the founding hero Ekat Kassen while attaching his legacy to the traditions of independence and resilience that embody the village of Kassan and all of Nirmathas. Beilin's tale includes a more bawdy version of the conflict between Ekat and the villainous Asar Vergas suggesting that the root of their conflict lie in a tragedy of lost love centered upon a raven-haired beautiful woman and not a deal gone sour as is traditionally told. He ends his long-winded tale with a prediction of great things to come for those that carry the Everflame tomorrow. Everything in my background would be well known to any who have lived in Kassen for any amount of time. Hey Tarlane, Deserach here. This is the character I would like to play in your game. All background and bio information is in the profile, so I will not re list it here. Let me know if you have any questions, I built it on the 20 points and everything is from the core book and the traits pdf. Once I hear back from you I will post in your discussion thread.
