Liberty's Edge

Quick question, since this is out around the same time as the Remastered books. Will this be written as Remastered, or as 2E?

Liberty's Edge

Just got the first book, but when is the Player's Guide coming out?

The only reason I see Mercer & Co moving away from D&D is that their published material uses the OGL 1.0a. And they make a lot of money, so they're most like one of the companies that would have to pay royalties on their products.

Now, the fun part is what part of Critical Role falls under Fan Content and what's going to be considered OGL? If Hasbro is stupid (which they are), will they try and go after getting royalties from "Legend of Vox Machina" on Amazon?

I would allow talisman formulas to be converted into tattoo formulas. The tattooes will disappear after use the same way spell tattoes and talismans are destroyed after use.
...

Also, the tattoos they have published aren't consumable. Considering the rules talk about investing and healing, I'd rather not spend a month of downtime to get a +X bonus to a single die roll and then it fades.

Personally I wouldn't apply Doubt to any check made while the character is unconscious, for obvious reasons. But that's not RAW.

That's the reason I'm asking. Doubt is very much a conscious thing. If you're unconscious and fail to stabilize, you're mental state shouldn't affect how you're body's trying to work.

Failing a check due to exhaustion, I can see causing doubt and affecting the next check.

Liberty's Edge

(I apologize if this has been asked/answered before, nothing came up on my search)

So, Doubt gives you a -4 penalty on the ability checks if you fail them. The check to stabilize is a Constitution check. Does that mean if you fail a stabilize check, then next has another -4 penalty?

I know, technically, the answer is yes, but that seems a pretty heavy penalty, especially when a character is low-level and low-Con, pretty much guaranteeing they won't survive even a mild dip into the negatives.

Thank you!

Also: sorry, I actually do know who he is - and knew when I asked; that was a bit of a misplaced joke on my part at first, clumsily and faultily corrected to "What?" which was my actual question... - but, this:

H'okay, I'm not gonna lie.

Dumb as it was (even at the time), irritatingly preachy and unconvincing as it was (even at that age), and over-the-top corny as it was (even at that era), I watched Captain Planet way back when. Not religiously, but enough.

And as exceptionally stupid as it is, possibly for nostalgia only, and possibly just because there's a draft right where I'm sitting, I got chills of "coooooo~!" watching this, despite (or maybe "because of"?) it having every one of the aforementioned traits.

I dunno, guys. Am I losing my discernment? Cynicism? Am I just waxing nostalgic? Or was that fan-made trailer actually... fun? Cool? Some combination? Weeeeiiiiirrrrrd.

However, we were speaking of Game Theory earlier, and, speaking of Captain Planet and MatPat...

(It... it's glorious...)

Better than this?
... was the context I was missing. Thanks! :D

You're welcome!

As we come upon the sixth anniversary of the founding of our glorious FaWtL brother and sisterhood, we should pause to remember that brave individual who started it all.

IssacX, you begat our journey with a vision a vision of boards with less than ten posts on a page and being locked after a few hundred. We took that vision and warped it into a nigh-improbable beast of (as of right now) 262,754 posts.

You may be gone IssacX, having given your life to the blood sacrifice of this unholy abomination, but you will always be forgotten.

You'll be pleased to know that, due to my moving in with my girlfriend who has a five-year-old daughter, I'm falling to the Dark Side of the bronies.

Of course, the up-side is stuff like her going to Comic-Con as the Hulk. And this totally happening:

Now of course if you are able to play multiple games and you are able, and want, to play both then you are lucky. Some of us don't have that luxury and have to decide which game they will run. I am planning on buying the books but I think my group and I will continue with Pathfinder while maybe playing a game of D&D every now and then in the future.

How about you?

Nope. I might be enjoying the novels, but won't be buying any rules from them.

Found some errata:

On page 72 the Shackles Random Weather descriptions provide modifiers that don't mesh with the Stormbound Hazards table (d20 modifier but the table uses d100).

I'm assuming multiplying the mods by 5 gets the appropriate result?

The chart's results come from a d% roll + storm severity modifier - ship's pilot's Profession (Sailor) check. That equation is laid out in the section right before the table. The larger the storm, the more difficult it is for the ship's pilot to mitigate the risk of sailing in the storm.

That modifier comes from the Eye of Abendego Weather Modifiers table. The modifier listed in the Weather descriptions should be applied to the Storm Hazards roll, but the modifier is listed as a d20 and the roll is a d%. So what should the modifier be?

Ah, what a bright and shiny Wednesday! Working from home, the birds are singing, the sun is shining...

Just got to go to the dealership to get the car "tuned up". Should be just ... 3 hours? ... and almost $500???

Screw it, today sucks donkey balls.

Liberty's Edge

In that case, maybe a horror theme? A woman investigating a haunted house at midnight or something?

I propose that, since not all of us FAWTLies are in Seattle, we go to the homes of those that are and go through their gaming collections, rearranging bookmarks and hiding minis.

Just finished reading through Skull & Shackles 3 last night. Best part of the book:

Quote:
If the players have decided not to race ...

That had me laughing for a good fifteen minutes. I couldn't help it.

"So, there's this race, and if you win, you get your own personal island."
"Y'know, we (as a group) talked it over, and we don't feel our pirate adventurers really WANT their own island. I think we'll pass."

Apartment hunting went well, found a couple places to follow up on in a few months.

Other than that, the weekend was pretty much just chilling out. What did I miss around here?

Liberty's Edge

Good news? Got tomorrow off. Bad news? The charter fishing day trip has been postponed/cancelled due to weather.

Meh, at least I have a day to go check out some of the apartment complexes I've been reviewing on Rent.com.

LPM, I'm feeling your pain. Right now my brother is living with our parents. For the last 18 months. And he's officially done some renovating by building an "office/game room" in the basement so he can work down there and cut down on the noise pollution from his video games. I've talked to my mom about it, worried he is "staking a claim" on the house and know that I'm going to have to sit down with him and lawyers to make sure he's not going to try something when they pass.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks all. Even though I hadn't know him, it was obvious from the service that he was a terrific friend, brother and son and will be missed by all.

Sorry to hear about your dad, BP.
