I DEMAND ATTENTION.

Of course, I'm not dead.

Except I'm not dead.

Have an article about gods who take a time out. That's me. I'll be back. I just don't say when, to keep you slackers on your toes.

"Aroden is coming. Look busy!"

If I really were dead (don't believe everything the rainbow press writes to fill pages), my paladins would be as screwed as my clerics. The weaselese about "worship the idea of Aroden rather than Aroden himself" just doesn't work.

This is worth coming back through the Veil for!

Krome wrote:

I figured that would be the answer.

In MY Golarion, Aroden DID return as a mortal man. He gave his godhood to Iomedae.

Doesn't sound like me. Would a CEO give full power of attourney to his secretary and then take a personal day?

that shows only that she is better than the rest :P so much that they spread lies about her :P

I'm not saying they're lies. I'm not saying it's the truth.

All I'm saying is that she was really eager to get her job.

And that one of her churche's mottos is "The most powerful position is on your knees"

Puny mortal, you don't even have an actual avatar.

Misery wrote:

If it came down to blows, I'd almost put my money on Iomedae actually.

... if by the way she reads she's a paladin or sorts have you SEEN what the new smite would do to Asmody?

Asmodeus just informed me that by the contract I've signed, me and any protégés, sidekicks and henchmen I sponsor, his actual person and his immediate belongings are off-limits. To break this contract would mean to forfeit any claim on your divine power.

Crafty bastard, but he knows his business.

Ingrate!

Well, 'ras, it's because you smell funny. And I don't mean haha funny. We go a long way back, so I feel I have to tell you. Gentle Repose isn't a high-level spell or anything, and it can improve your social life.

Not that I know from personal experience mind you.

I'm not dead!

Her current occupation is not so well, but I can vouch for her former work. Her replacement is quite nice as well - she has my job now that I take a break from this deity thing.

So? Who isn't?

It's funny you should mention that.

Say, Apsy, old chap, you don't have a spare 10 minutes and a Raise Deity spell on you? Not that I'm dead, mind you, it's for a... friend. She's got the worst gig now that she's undead.

Paris Crenshaw wrote:

Get backstage, Aroden! We're not ready for you, yet!

You never were, and I was around nonetheless.

Seriously, I go through all this trouble with the starstone to give your mortals a leg up for divinity, and what comes from it?

A furtive creep, a drunkard, and my old herald I basically had to lead through the test by hand.

And that's all the human race could muster in dozens of centuries. Not that the other races fared any better.

Epic Meepo wrote:
Since Aroden died just 100 or so years ago, does this mean that he's still standing in line in the Boneyard?

And what a long line it is - though apparently it's not composed solely of the dead awaiting judgement. At least the guy in front of me curiously seems to think that he's waiting in line for what he calls a "world of war craft expansion pack". He said that the last line was a lot longer, so he must be some reincarnation freak.

Krome wrote:
his followers do not know if HE killed Aroden or not...

His followers do not know what species their fathers are for the most part, or how to think without moving their lips.

Tar-Baphon killing me? I think not. I could squish the little upstart with my thumb.

Plus, I'm not dead yet, of course.

Slime wrote:
and the facts that Pharasma might have know about Aroden's fate but didn't say

I say. You'd think it's not too much to ask to drop a hint over dinner or something like that. "Is that the twelve pack? Maybe you should go with a single. You don't want to buy something you won't be using..."

Montalve wrote:

Pharasma relationship to necromancers = lay them to rest :P

Depends on the necromancer. If he just sucks out people's life force to kill them dead, she's fine with it - no different than evokers tossing around fireballs and barbecuing people.

If he's the guy who won't leave well enough alone and give people a rest when they're dead, she's got views.

Pharasma wrote:
Were I to tell you of birth, fate, and death would it please you, Kate?

It's all a sham, anyway.

Iomedae wrote:

well it doesn't matter... what you open I will close... the closing its what it counts at the end of the day :P

That's the spirit, lass!

Iomedae wrote:

*mumble grumble* not even dead ou stop giving me lousy jobs

I always said that we grow with opposition. I saved up the worldwound just for you, as a coming-of-age-present of sorts.

I figured that considering your 11 Acts, this one wouldn't be too hard for you.

It's just a bunch of demons - the only really dangerous one is Lamashtu, and she's not even involved.

And I may be a deity, but I can still brag: TOP OF THE PAGE LOL!* :)

*That's ancient Azlanti for "Hooray"

Iomedae wrote:

*cough* still dead *cough*

Minor setback. I'm a god, after all.

Iomedae wrote:

and your death broke the heart of Cheliax in such way than not even I could save it from Asmodeus

If you must know, I had a bet going with Asmo - he said that when I disappeared, he'd have Cheliax under his heel in less than half a century.

He did it. That proved to me that I chose the wrong guys - and now I owe Asmodeus a beer.

Iomedae wrote:

(much less considering that thanks toyou dying the world wound opened again... talking about inheriting debts and problems...)... but we are still work in that agenda...

That's another bet, but I cannot go into details. All I can say is: get your shoulder in it, I've got good money on this one!

Those young whippersnappers have no respect. I was godding it when you were still the gleam in your distant ancestor's eyes. I was designing top notch cities and raising artifacts of unspeakable power from the depth of the seas - and my labours made it easier for you youngsters to become gods. Not that I hear any thanks of it.

You let them take over the business, and that's the thanks you get. What is the world coming to?

We took better care of ourselves and our followers in my time, too. I wouldn't have had priestesses that delight to be chased around by insane jesters. I bet that any moment now, she conveniently stumbles so he can catch her.

Decency, it seems, died with me.

Bagpuss wrote:
I read this thread before but forget; is it said that Aroden is absolutelydefinitely dead and gone forever? Or might there be something else afoot?

I know, but I'm not telling!

If you meet any of them, tell them it would be nice of them to call some day. Their mother's worried sick, and I have to take the can for it.

Todd Stewart wrote:
Maybe he's not dead. Don't be so pessimistic. He's going to have a two month beta test for worshippers only in a scaled back form from his original promise of a major Ascendency thing -a Deific Initiative if you will- and then an open beta for all the other humans on Golarion in the hopes of getting them to start worshipping him too and sending souls his way. And even though he still seems hopelessly dead, his few remaining priests will keep promising that new and awesome stuff from him that was promised centuries ago is coming "very soon". ;)

The promises my priests are making made many worshippers give me their souls already, sight unseen. Delicious, this race of mine!

And the very soon is so true. It's not my fault if mortals have a skewed perspective and impatient definitions of what very soon means!

The new contracts for other deities to use my temples is coming soon. I can't tell you when, or what's in it, but it's going to be very good! Would these god-eyes lie?

Impatient, impertinent humans. I'm just on a two-century vacation. I'll be back in no time, and then, the time of My Ascension will be at hand, barely behind schedule.

Set wrote:

Aroden is totally the god of sloth. He's not even dead, he's just napping.

Am not! I'd smite you if I only could be bothered. But mark my words, one day you'll walk under my godly foot and them SQUISH!

Me, too. And I know what I'm talking about. I'm a god (well, a dead one, but that still beats life mortal!)

Wicht wrote:

I've been acquiring more 3x books lately and I am starting to notice a real trend in the artwork themes - namely the death of the 3e iconics. For instance Regdar. Poor Regdar is torn to pieces (we are led to believe) on the back of Heroes of Horror. He is turned to stone on the cover of one of the later models (Sinister Spire) and in numerous pictures he or the half orc are shown trampled underfoot by some gruesome creature. Its like the guys at WotC were tired of the Iconics and they became whipping boys instead of being symbols of heroism and adventure.

At least thats the feeling I get and it just sort of annoys me a bit.

So My request is this - if you guys at Paizo get tired of the Iconics you have now, don't make them into objects of ridicule, just retire them with dignity and create some new images.

Thanks.

If you think that's harsh, look how Paizo treats their gods!

No.

I guess Aroden was all about humans. And look where he's now.

Yeah, yeah, go ahead. Add insult to injury. Let's bash the human some more, he's down and can't fight back.

Don't trust the city-folk. Chels consort with demons, you know.

It's devils. And really, they're an ungrateful bunch. You turn your back for a century or two because you had to get crisps from the gas station, and they declare you dead and fawn over that attention-whore Asmodeus.
