Dotting for interest. I've been dying to see how a Mindblade Magus would work with this sort of game....

I actually would be tempted to do a Dwarven Eagle Knight Recruit who’s father was an Archaeologist, and whose mother was a warrior working with he Eagle Knights as trainer.

I would love to get in a TOS/TMP STA game at any time. :)

I would love to get in on this, dotting for interest. :)

@DM: has there recently been any event or situations that seemed to spur on new ‘paranormals’?

Arknight: Curious how you got proficiency with an Elven Curve Blade. I didn't think Unchained Rogue gave proficiency in that.

As for must have spells, I'd say lean towards things that are touch attacks and avoid saving throws - chill touch, frostbite, and shocking grasp, for instance. With an Int of 14, you aren't going to really have the DCs to make saving throw spells stick, and if you have to make an attack roll and the spell deals damage, you get to add sneak attack to it. For must have items, a healing wand of some kind would be beneficial.

Philo: Looks pretty good. You might want to make sure you have a ranged weapon and a way to overcome type-based DR. Actually, Arknight, I'd suggest the same for you as well.

I'm working on purchasing other stuff now. Alchemical items might be handy.

I didn’t notice that that wasn’t listed. It’s the Military Tradition Alternate Racial Trait.

Quote:
Military Tradition: Several human cultures raise all children (or all children of a certain social class) to serve in the military or defend themselves with force of arms. They gain proficiency with up to two martial or exotic weapons appropriate to their culture. This racial trait replaces the bonus feat trait.

Chose the Elven Curve Blade and Longbow (He grew up among Elves...) he’s got a wand of CLW, and a wand of Mage Armor since he’s not proficient with armor or shields. What would you recommend for the overcoming DR?

By the time Seneb was fifteen, he had been training in both for several years. Along the way, he was introduced to the Pathfinder Society as his mother and father took on several missions for them. It was on several of these missions where they brought Seneb along and he proved how well he had learned his lessons.

From expeditions to explore the Labyrinth near Shiman-Sekh, to guarding caravans to Sothis, Seneb managed to prove he had learned his lessons well and that he was capable of using both arcane and martial methods to deal with and resolve a variety of situations. He was requested by name for several expeditions to a variety of unnamed ruins and tombs for his ability to defend himself and others as well as for his arcane and tomb knowledge.

Any suggestions on must have spells/items?

I've got a bit of a background for a Density "Brick"

Brickhouse:

Personality:
Because of the way he's been treated in the past, Tony has a tendency to be a bit abrupt with people, thinking that they think less or pity him for being in his wheelchair or having his cane. When he's able to push that aside and actually talk to someone, his inner sense of humor and friendliness comes to light. A lot is due to the fact that he's always had so few friends, he's willing to take the chance on friendship if the other individual isn't pitying or talking down to him. Due to his overall lack of social interactions though, he can on occassion be a bit blunt and not realize he's made a comment that hurts someone until much later.

Background: Osteogenesis imperfecta, commonly known as Brittle Bone disease, was the diagnosis the doctors gave Tony's mother. Tony was five years old and this was after the sixth time he'd been brought in to the ER with broken bones in as many months. After the second time, the police had been called and Tony had been placed in a foster home for a week. After Tony had bumped into the coffee table and had to be brought back to the ER, the police and social workers were no longer involved. The smallest bump or fall, and his bones would break. At that point, his mother began what would become a lifelong pattern of protecting her son. Anytime they would leave the house, Tony would be in a wheelchair. He couldn't play with other kids because it would result in several broken bones and a lot of pain for Tony. Unable to act and play like a normal kid, Tony dove into books and computers. He would read for days on end, and when he wasn't reading or studying, he was on the computer.

With his mother being a research Astrophysicist, Tony did have every chance otherwise; the best schools, the best doctors, just nothing seemed to help with his physical or mental health. Growing frustrated with this, his mother looked into every option she could. Finally, finding a possibility in a project she was working on involving crystals and dimensional energies.

When it was discovered exposing the crystals to specific frequencies of sound, caused it to vibrate and emit energy particles that had a strange side effect of increasing the density of objects struck by the particles. Seeing an opportunity, his mother arranged for exposing Tony to the particles. Amazingly, after the exposure, Tony’s bones and muscles grew stronger and Tony gained a bit more confidence in everything he did.

Hook: Unknown to Tony or his mother, the research she used to strengthen his bones is sponsored by a criminal organization with it's own plans for the research should they have proof she succeeded.

THanks. :)

Here is my 4d6 rolls. :)

4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 4) - 2 = 11
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) - 2 = 16

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 6) - 1 = 17
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) - 1 = 13

Hmmm.... that's actually a 26 point buy, but that 7 looks lousy.... I might just go with it though....

Would you allow this feat? Double Weapon Finesse

3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) = 7
3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7

Point-buy it is... lol

Are campaign traits allowed?

Well, there goes the Barbarian with a dinosaur concept.... lol :)

Looks like going Rogue (Unchained) (Knife Master)

I am torn between a couple of choices that I’ve narrowed it down to.a Magus (Armored Battlemage), a Cavalier (Emissary), a Rogue (Unchained), or a Monk (Unchained). Oh, or a Kineticist. Human for most, but an appropriate elemental-ish type for the Kineticist...

Preferences?

I’d be interested in a college age game as well... have a couple of concepts for just that setting....

Overall character creation question - Would Master Of Many Styles Archetype be usable for an Unchained Monk? I know opinion varies since the replaced/modified abilities do exist on an UncMonk...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ok, I’m game. :)

I’m curious how an Oread Geokineticist would work for this...

GM Omelas wrote:
@Arknight ah, that sounds interesting. Thanks for clarifying, I'm all for it. Also, in retrospect, I realise I might have sounded a bit b+%&~y by adding emphasis on Spire Defender. Apologies if it came out like that, I just wanted to be make sure we were talking about the same archetype.

Not a problem. :) I didn’t take it that way at all.

I did have another question. What is your thought on the Scorpion whip? I know there is a mix of feelings on it, and wanted to see if It would take both whip and scorpion whip Proficiencies to use the Scorpion whip like a whip (reach, trip, etc)? Or would the Exotic Scorpion Whip proficiency allow for that in itself?

GM Omelas wrote:

regarding character motivation/background: I’m not planning on giving much importance to the Society in this game as I want the story to be focussed on your characters rather than the organisation. So, taking a step back, why does the Pathfinder Society matter so much to Seneb?

no problem with a refluffed Spire Defender. Seems to fit your character.

For Seneb, the Society is the reason he got into adventuring. It’s something his mother and father were part of, so he sees being part of it as a necessity, although he doesn’t feel worthy of that quite yet.

I had actually planned on him seeing that the PS isn’teverything, and that he can not be a part of it and still have worth (although his parents would be encouraging him to join, they wouldn’t force the issue)

I also see PS as the way he became trained as a “Spire Defender”, through his parents connections.

Sounds good to me. :)

Given the intent is for guiding and escorting caravans and expeditions, would you allow taking a refluffed Spire Guardian Archetype for Seneb?

Would a Samsaran be considered a valid race?

Interested for sure! I think i’ll see what I can come up with for 35 pt buy. :)

Dotting. I have a couple of ideas to run with, but will take me a day to narrow down....

Dotting.... thinking something out of the ordinary..... a Kasatha Priest Mechanic?? Hmmm....

Ok, I guess I need to throw my hat in the ring as a big DW and DWAiTAS fan. :)

Which Doctor is your favorite? It really is a tough call for classic. I would have to say Tom Baker only because he was the Doctor that first hooked me. (Toss up with Jon Pertwee and Paul McGann). New, I have to go with David Tennant, but Eccleston a close second just because he was the reboot. (Does John Hurt count as Classic or New? :) )

Which companion is your favorite? K-9. Doesn’t he count for Old and new? :) Although, like many here, Leela was a lead for favorite in my youthful mind back then. Clara too for current companions just because like her whole storyline.

Which episode is your favorite episode? Hands down, “Day of the Doctor”. Tennant, Smith, Hurt, Baker, Bad Wolf, and so much more Whovian goodness. :) Until then I probably would have said The Five Doctors or End of Time (Timothy Dalton? :) )

Interested. I don’t have a lot of exp with 5e, but am adaptable. :)

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 5) = 11

@DM: What are your thoughts on using Master of Many Styles with the Unchained Monk?

MoMS changes bonus Feats, replaces Flurry Of Blows and Perfect Self; all of which are pretty much identical features between Original and Unchained...

Just curious because I know different GMs have different thoughts on mixing old and new. :)

Does anyone have a good Starfinder character sheet template for the profile?

I’ts slow going formatting for me right now....

Starting Gold: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 5, 2) = 16 *10 = 160

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 1) = 13 = 12

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 1) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 4) = 15 = 13

I have a Dwarf Mystic in mind I would love to try out...

Dotting for definite interest!

Any idea when the players guide will be available?

Would there still happen to be an open spot?

I’m getting back after a forced absence, and Savage Rifts has been on my mind a lot lately (for more reasons than one). I also happen to live in Northwest Arkansas, down the road from where Castle Refuge is, so there’s that inspiration. :)

Interested, but new to the system (and world since never played any of the video games either).

Am thinking along the lines of Orlesian Exile. Son of a Chantry Templar, and being trained for the same, he began to question some of the philosophy behind the templars, and a rival, seeing an opportunity, spread rumors that he was actually an Apostate. No true proof could be found, but he did leave quickly as it hit too close to the truth. While not an apostate, he had found the path of the Spirit Warrior.

Is that valid for the setting?

since that's actually a 17 put buy, I'll reroll:

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 3) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 2) - 2 = 15
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 1) - 1 = 17
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) - 3 = 14
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) - 3 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 1) - 1 = 10

That's actually a 28 pt buy, so will go with that.

I'm thinking something along the lines of an Unchained Rogue (Knife Master).

How "advanced technology" is Nekorol? Would it allow for using stuff from the Technology Guide?

My only issue with GMing is my times for posting get weird, sometimes lucky to post a GM post 1/week, other times a couple a day. Pretty much due to my family/work obligations constantly moving.

Now if folks can enjoy a much slower player driven postings, I could consider running the M&M 3e Emerald city Knights campaign......

Sounds interesting....

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 6) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 6) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1) = 10
Not bad.... I can work with those....

Would a Chakram Dervish for a finesse type of Fighter work?

I'd be up for either, but would prefer player....

This actually looks like a good opportunity to give a dwarven earth kineticist a try.....

Interested.....

I'll have to see what I can come up with.....

Dotting....

I'm thinking a former teacher (Investigator maybe?) turned Musket Master Gunslinger after his family died.

@DM: one quick thing - What is your ruling on Slashing Grace being usable with a Glaive when also having the Bladed Brush feat?

Bladed Brush wrote:

Benefit(s): You can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a glaive sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon. When wielding a glaive, you can treat it as a one-handed piercing or slashing melee weapon and as if you were not making attacks with your off-hand for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist’s or swashbuckler’s precise strike).

As a move action, you can shorten your grip on the glaive, treating it as though it lacked the reach weapon property. You can adjust your grip to grant the weapon the reach property as a move action.

The bolded part above makes me think yes, but I thought it best to check..
