Antianel, though put off by the week's events, seems caught up in his own thoughts and projects, and seems little concerned by any potential magical peculiarites of the Blot of the Cyphergate. He is far more interested in the talk of an attack by Clegg Zincher, however, and spends the week giving a sharp and narrow glare to any who seem like they might want to threaten the casino.
Two Intimidate checks for Antianel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19. One success, one marginal failure, for a total of +1 to Saul's roll...
"What in the Nine Hells?" gasps Antianel, as his head jerks back. A necklage around his throat is suddenly pulling back toward the curve blade whose hilt is visible over his shoulder. With a sharp tug, he pulls the necklace off, but it remains attached to the blade of his sword, tangled up like a shed snake skin against the metal of his sword.
Antianel continues his work at the front door, glaring at anyone who seems likely to cause trouble for the casino or its patrons.
Two Intimidate checks, DC 15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11; 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13. :P Looks like I'm no help at all this week. At least I didn't cause a penalty...
Antianel looks around the room and then at the space behind the snake. "Here we go," he murmurs, and then rushes past the snake, all but daring it to attack him, to duck into the employee lounge, then down the hall past the stairs to the doorway at the far end, where the scullery is. Slamming through the door, he comes up behind the snake, blade ready for a strike.
Assuming he doesn't get dropped by another crit on the AoO, anyway. Fort save against poison, if it happens to be needed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17.
Antianel watches the gnome enter the kitchen uncomfortably, clearly wishing he were "rushing in half-cocked" already. He readies his sword, but forces himself to stand outside the kitchen and wait.
Antianel quickly puts one of the newly-hired guards into his position and heads upstairs as well. Seeing the others headed that way as well, he frowns and lets his hand fall to his blade hilt.
Antianel turns toward the corner of the casino, looking concerned. He drops his hand to his blade as he begins heading that way. "Mario! Lyre! Inside, quickly!" he calls over his shoulder as he goes.
A series of emotions, largely unreadable, cross Antianel's face as he ponders Saul's unexpected offer. Slowly, however, he says, "I... would very much like the chance to participate in this endeavor."
Antianel looks somwhat taken aback by the dwarf's words, but tightens his jaw and nods gravely.
Turning toward Tsadok and Tippello, he observes their efforts with a bemused expression. "You are generous souls to heal your foes," he says slowly, "but I cannot help wondering if it is wasted effort on such as these." He looks over at the body of the man he killed, and carefully pulls the short sword from the dead man's hip. "This, on the other hand, deserves more respect than a corpse can offer."
Seeing another of the wizard's allies fall, Antianel shouts, "Your plans collapse around you, mage! Your own end comes as well!" even as he swings once again. Elven curve blade with Power Attack and inspire courage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9.
"You keep your twisted magics away from me," Antianel snarls at the enemy mage. Forgoing clever tricks, he lashes out with his sword with lethal intent. Elven curve blade attack with Power Attack and inspire courage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17.
Suddenly invigorated by the flow of healing power from Tippello, Antianel raises his weapon once more. "Your tricks will not save you, warlock!" he spits at the goateed arcanist, and suddenly lashes out, trying to twist the metal wand from the wizard's hand. Disarm attempt, which would provoke an AoO except that the wizard is only carrying a wand right now: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8.
Antianel spins toward the thug who just attacked him. "Learned you nothing from the witch's fate?" he demands, bringing the blade around in a wet, red arc. Elven curve blade attack with Power Attack and inspire courage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20; damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16.
Hearing the cry of "caster!" from one of the other patrons, Antianel turns in that direction. Seeing a half-orc warrior surrounded by the casino's attackers, he forgets the man who just fled from him and makes his way over to aid the valiant monk. Antianel can't get a flank, though a 5-ft step will allow Tsadok to do so next round if need be. He turns his wrath on the woman with the eyepatch. "Test your blade against mine, witch!" he challenges her as he swings. Elven curve blade attack with Power Attack and bardic performance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21; damage 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10. The attack, combined with Tsadok's strike, overwhelms her, and she collapses to the ground.
Hammered by the thug's sap, Antaniel staggers. "Craven coward!" he roars. "Let us see how you fare against those with eyes to strike you down!" Elven curve blade attack with Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23; damage 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9. Crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6; damage 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10.
Antianel watches Vancaskerin's display with a slight frown, looking from the casino owner up to the caged creature - some kind of devil? - and back again. Once the speech is over, Antianel turns toward the cashier's cage, buying a couple of gold pieces' worth of silver teeth. He wanders from one game to another, losing his chips slowly, paying more attention to the building and the employees than to what's happening to his money.
Mostly playing dice games like bounder, with at least one spin at ghoulette out of sheer morbid curiosity. Profession (gambler): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Antianel steps warily into the Gold Goblin, a frown fixed on his face. He pays little attention to the shapely "succubi" at the door, handing over his gold piece with barely more than a grunt. As he steps into the casino, he is slightly surprised that no one objects to the long curved blade strapped to his back; then again, the guards are likely not for show.
When one of the drink-laden serving girls passes with a tray, the tall elf takes a glass absently, moving through the room with no eyes for the games. He is looking for something, though.
I asked this before, but it probably got lost in the shuffle. Who would you like Antianel to be in hock to? I came up with three ideas:
1) Saul
If it's Saul Antianel's parents owe, then it's pretty close to the actual wording on his campaign trait: he's Looking for Work inasmuch as he hasn't met Saul yet and he's trying to scope him out in order to find out what kind of guy he's about to tie himself to. In this case, Saul's betrayal winds up being a real relief for him, giving him an excuse to off Saul and deal with the debt with a clear conscience - might be a bit too much in terms of letting Antianel off the hook, though, so I dunno.
2) Clegg Zincher
This makes for some interesting interactions later on, particularly in Children of the Void, but it might make the raid a bit weirder. (Or not - since it isn't Zincher's men who actually undertake the attack...) In this case, Zincher is worried about wanting to keep an eye on Saul, so he orders Antianel to go "undercover" to watch things. It would make Antianel's internal conflict more interesting, but raises the question of if - or when - Clegg might "pull the trigger" on his inside man and force Antianel to do something to really screw Saul, and thus the rest of the PCs, over.
3) one of the other crimelords
The idea here is basically the same as with Clegg, but it's a different crime boss. This would make the most sense if I could use it to tie myself to one of the other characters - if the sorcerer wanted to be a cyphermage, for instance, then I could work for Elias Tammerhawk - but I'm not seeing any such obvious connection. The other thing that might be cool about taking this option, though, would be that it would leave me in debt for awhile; nothing will happen in the first two modules to end my connection, so I would remain tied if you would like me to be.
My blade stands ready, though for what I cannot say.

Spoiler:
I've deliberately left some things vague in Antianel's backstory - most notably, which crimelord he works for. I have a couple ideas, but is there any particular way you want to work him in?
