About Anigast

Background:
Anigast truly knew not far back of his origins, but only where he was found in the footsteps the orphanage, purposely left by somebody. With no leads to who his guardians were the orphanage was forced to accept him within. Despite his absent heritage, toddler life went well for him as they treated him as the others who lived beside. Until a night-darkened his impending days.

A known noble, who was respected by many and loved by all, visited the orphanage to adopt a selected few for the next generation of honor and nobility. Unfortunately, Anigast was tested and judged as one not worthy enough. At the final hour, the knight drowned himself with as much ale as he could find and entered a state of a groggy personality. He saw Anigast and flinched, as his mind tricked his eyes. “YOU!” he roared, “YOU ARE THE SON OF BATIFE!”.

Batife! The myth’ed Teifling who wrecked calamity in the history of ages from his land. Although many of the formers didn’t believe the accusation as he was obviously human, some did and stated that it was a Desna for warning them of a greater threat. Hysteria began to rise about. He began to be shunned at. The guardians wanted to be less involved in him to the point where no soul would give their last name to him.

The orphanage was threatened by religious groups. What treatment they had before was gone and intimidating ears caught attention. It was frowned upon by too many and people within felt the changes. The children themselves, those who grew up beside him, planned to kill him for they believed it would all end in a moment. Anigast surprised, stood up for himself. Adrenaline rose inside and the fight or flight response kicked in. He fought with rage, not caused by anger but by fear. A rage fit for a young barbarian.

Blood was spilled. He managed to defend himself and deal with the kids in non-lethal methods, knocking them out. What trust he had in his friends was extinguished with a flash before his very soul. Events like these occurred more and more to the point where even townsfolk outside wanted to assassinate him themselves. Battles were soon fought. Anigast against his very own people. There came a point to where he was forced to shove an iron blade into a living skull, causing Anigast to feel the new sensation of death forever to creep inside of him.

Trials were made. Luck was on his side as he was deemed innocent and acted in self-defense. But that didn’t stop the attacks. Years passed by, ambushes kept coming yet Anigast eventually learned how to deal with them incident by incident. He grew strong in the ways that made him survive the hours. Having a greataxe and shortbow at his side, he was ready.

Finally! It was Moonday (Monday). The first of Abadius (January). His 15th birthday arose, not that anybody celebrated it. This was a chance though, for the orphanage made it an excuse to throw him out as it was the legal age to do so. As the orphanage acted as a sense of defense between Anigast and those who wanted to get him.

Now vulnerable, Anigast fled to the elders resignated nearby and pleaded a wish to be granted. “I beg of you! Prove that I am no son of Batife! And if so, slay me where I stand.” A small ritual was practiced between the flesh of Anigast and the dead cells of the buried Batife. Alas! He was NOT the son. A joy he never remembered flourished into him as tears shed from his parished eyes. Although proven, the people were still arrogant and doubted the practice.

Terrified that hysteria would wash over again, he scattered, far to wherever he prayed he could possibly be. Hereafter, he realized that he was not yet free from suffering. He was alone now, more than before. With nothing to depend on money, food, or other resources Anigast searched to find the very meaning of his life. Soon, he witnessed the league as the Pathfinder Society. With all the stories told at Absalom, how was his attention not somewhere else? He took the risk and decided to gamble his life on their behalf.
