Ugh. I accidentally posted a game post in the discussion board.

Surprise Round:
Amon sends a slingstone hurling toward a goblin's head.

Having trouble finding a map. Please pick out the ugliest goblin for me to aim at.

sling 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22; 1d3 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2

She was just two weeks early, but it was quite a surprise. With our first kiddo, it was a good 12 hours between the first 'real' contractions and delivery. This second one came in just 3 hours! It was like, "Wait, what? We have a baby now?"

Amon sends a slingstone hurling toward a goblin's head.

sling 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d3 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 1 = 2

Many apologies for my absence. We had a baby!.... earlier than we thought we would! Thank you for your patience.

Amon grips his holy symbol, whispering a fierce prayer to Iomedae as they prepare to assail the goblins. He turns to Enko and smiles. "I am a peacemaker. And there is nothing quite so peaceful as a dead troublemaker."

Amon attempts to take cover and watch for anyone that needs healing, knowing that he is of little use in a close melee.

Amon waves silently to get the group's attention.

*points to Enko*

*jabbing motion with hand*

*points to door*

*makes a sweeping motion with his finger to include everyone in the recon team*

*points toward door and counts 1, 2, 3*

*grips his fist tightly*

*thumbs up, and looks around for confirmation*

Apologies! For some reason I keep losing all of my dots. It's happening about every other day.

Amon reaches out and taps Enko in the middle of the back. The monk feels a slight tingle in his spine.

Activate Life-Link.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Amon gestures with one arm toward the goblins, as if to say, By all means, go ahead.

"You are all awfully chatty for a recon team."

Stealth 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

Amon makes several gestures to Ava, encouraging her to press her ear to the door to listen for anything in the room.

He looks fine and dandy (like cotton candy) to me.

He looks fine and dandy (like cotton candy) to me.

"I will look ahead." The halfling easily squeezes into the tube and starts forward.

Use guidance.

Stealth 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

"May the Crusader guide your hands." Amon whispers his prayer and touches Ava on the shoulder.

Cast guidance. Add a +1 bonus to your Disable Device roll.

I am the shadow.

Stealth 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Amon whispers to the rest of the group. "I am going to scout the building and see what can be seen up close. Would anyone like to join me?"

There is a special place in hell reserved for them. Right next to child molesters and people who talk in the theater.

I'm fine with burning them out. Or, as I like to call it, The Torchbearer's Urban Renewal Initiative.

After hearing the discussion on Whitechin the goblin, Amon nods in agreement. "We need to know where to find this Whitechin and what others may know about defenses or allies he may have." He picks up his cloak and looks to his companions. Suddenly his eyes glow silver for a heartbeat and he speaks, his voice distorted and amplified, sounding as though a large group of people were all speaking in unison. "I will go and find out about Whitechin the goblin."

Using my Legalistic power to make a vow. I gain a +4 bonus on a skill check related to my vow.

Diplomacy (gather information) 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 4 = 30

"Since we are in the public relations business now, I think we should forward Sorvo the fisherman a note, extending our thanks that he has been reunited with his property and that it was the Torchbearers to thank for the deed."

Screwing up the courage to ask her out, Amon politely requests the company of Fiosa on an evening of dining and frivolity. He takes her out for a nice (but not flashy) dinner, then to a local theater for a tasteful symphony performance. At the end of the evening, he is a gentleman and simply holds her hand and bows, thanking her for the lovely evening.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

How much would a nice date set me back?

"As much as I would like to return it to their owners, without some sort of record I don't think it would be possible. Let's see what is in the chest."

When do we get to wear the fancy pajamas? Hiiiya!

Amon picks up a nearby stone and loads it into his sling. He takes careful aim and tries to plink the log.

He will repeat until he hits it.

I've always seen Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate as being ways to increase motivation. But if a character already has motivation, such as avoiding being killed, a check doesn't seem absolutely necessary.

I wasn't trying to intimidate them. Their own sense of self-preservation, given the circumstances, is enough motivation.

Amon gives the bandits a deadpan stare. "You are safe. For now. I may still kill you." He turns his attention to Enko and Corneleous as they continue fishing with the unseen servant. "Let's be sure to take the bear trap and caltrops with us. They can be very handy, you know."

Amon narrows his eyes. "I think you can volunteer to go first, or you can be tried and sentenced here in the street. I will slit your ankle tendons and leave you to waste away under the heat of the sun. Your bodies will bloat and split like overripe tomatoes. Dogs and flies will devour your flesh. As befits bandits." He shrugs. "Or you can clear out the traps for us."

Sense Motive 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

"Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind going first."

"You're trying to distance yourself from the actions of your employer. Since you actively helped him, you are complicit." He turns to the rest of the party. "Let's find these goods, then show them how the Torchbearers deal with criminal scum."

Sorry! I just started a new job and things have been very busy for the past few days.

Amon listens carefully to the bandits, attempting to discern whether or not they speak the truth.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

"Ah, sword-point repentance. How charming." The halfling oracle sneers. "If you truly found it disagreeable, you could have stopped earlier, before all of your fellows were slain and we are angry from our wounds. I suggest that you cooperate fully to get into our good graces. Only a fool would expect guarantees in your position."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Are any enemies within 30 feet of me?

Round 8:

Amon whips his sling at Belagio.

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

Round 6:

Amon casts cure light wounds on himself.

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

10/20hp

I suddenly wish I were less squishy...

Round 5:

Amon tries to escape again, running around the horse to escape the bandit.

Withdraw action. Move somewhere safe, preferably putting some allies between myself and the bandits. :(

Just a heads up, I'm still on vacation and my posting may be spotty for a day or two.

Ouch. 13hp in one round.

Round 4:

"Raawww!" Amon roars in pain from his multiple attackers. "I am sorry, Lucon. I must leave." He staggers from the fray, holding his mace in front of him to ward off attacks.

Withdraw as full-round action. Move 40 feet away from melee, hopefully behind cover.

Amon - 15/20 hp

Round 3:

"Stop that! I just fixed him!" Amon prays again to heal Lucon.

Cure light wounds. Not using noble needle this time.
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Amon - 2 damage

Round 2:

Amon rushes to Lucon and murmurs a prayer of healing, touching him lightly on the arm. His wounds begin to knit and heal.

Case cure light wounds. Use noble needle to take 2hp damage for additional 2hp healing.
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Amon - 2 damage

Awww. I hope he gets better.

Sorry, I suggested earlier that we use a wagon as a disguise and I didn't notice anyone shoot down the idea. I assumed we had one.

Who else is in the wagon with Amon?

Round 1:

Ready action to cast cure light wounds on anyone injured. Amon will hop down from the wagon to cast it if need be. BUT only if someone takes a serious hit.

(using needle) 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

"Bandits!"

Surprise Round:
Amon drops behind the dashboard (free action, hopefully gain some cover) and utters a brief prayer. A strand of silvery light extends from his chest and hits Enko in the back. (standard action, Life-Link with Enko)

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 18

Ride 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Fortitude 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Looks like Amon is going to want to take it slow and easy. I don't have any shopping to do, since I need to save up for some magical armor to protect myself.

Enko:
"I'm afraid there is little that I can do for him. Regenerating lost tissue is far beyond my abilities, and it looks like his eye will heal naturally soon enough. I need to save my spells for the fight ahead."

"Then there is not a moment to waste. Let us be off. I think Belagio is going to bite off more than he can chew, today."

I still have yet to watch Firefly, to my everlasting shame

What? That's like saying you've never seen Star Wars! It's on Netflix. With their free trial period you could watch the whole series sans cost. There were, sadly, only 13 episodes.

"Perhaps we could find some simple costumes as well? I doubt a driver and his wife behind the dashboard would arouse much suspicion."

For some reason this reminds me of the wagon ambush scene from Firefly.

Amon nods. "The bandits first. I would rather tackle the problem we can predict and anticipate rather than some filthy, savage beasts in a hole somewhere."

Many apologies for my absence of several days. I have a small mountain of schoolwork to finish and I've been swamped.

Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Oh, great. A 'creative.'

"I think a performer as talented and well-noted as yourself should have no difficulty finding another horse for your performance. These horses have already seen hard riding and I doubt you would want them to appear haggard or fatigued during your show. Besides, surely the great Ulvauno could persuade another stablemaster to supply him a horse."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

I may have misread the previous posts, but it was my understanding that all of the Hellknights were deceased. I wouldn't have healed any of them if the were still kicking around. Also, since we are out of combat, I assumed it would be a trifle to have everyone gather near me momentarily for the channeling then resume their activities.
