Feign Curse

I'm actually using this as a rogue and it's hilarious

Woah, that's a lot of reply :D

1) We play with fixed stat array, that being 15,14,13,12,10,8 which is a low 15 point buy. There isn't much room for improvement here sadly.

2)Advanced Weapon Training can be taken 1/5 fighter levels

3) in that campaign eastern weapons such as kukris aren't easy accessible. However daggers are a far better choice, now that you pointed to me Pharasma Obedience and River Rat. Add a bit of flavor too, which is nice

4) I could dual one-handed sword, but that would mean picking effortles dual wielding to reduce the penalties, but since i plan to take focused weapon soon or later i don't think it's worth

5) I don't want to multiclass too much, i'm open to a 2-3 level dip if it's really worth.

6) I could consider rerolling to a whole new class (not rogue, i've already got one in another game) like full slayer too.

Thanks everybody for all the imputs, i've got a lot to think of.

Unnamed Hero

Str: 14 Dex: 17 Cos: 13 Int: 10 Wis: 12 Cha: 8

Reactionary, ???

lvl 1: Two Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus (Short Sword)
lvl 2: Improved Initiative
lvl 3: Iron Will
lvl 4: Weapon Spec (Short Sword)
lvl 5: AWT (Trained Grace)
lvl 6: Improved Two Weapon Fighting
lvl 7: Double Slice
lvl 8: Greater Weapon Focus (Short Sword)
lvl 9: Armed Bravery, AAT (Armor Specialization(Full Plate)
lvl 10: AWT (Fighter's Reflexes)
lvl 11: Two Weapon Rend
lvl 12: Greater Weapon Spec (Short Sword)

This is what i've planned so far, does it look solid enough for a mildly optimized party?

My main concern here is about Power Attack: should i put it in somewhere?

The build should go to lvl 20, but i lack concrete ideas, beside taking advanced armor/weapon training when possible for Warrior Spiriti, Versatile Training, Focused Weapon and the likes...

Any tips is really appreciated, thanks everybody in advance.

If you take all the cognatogen's discoveries, up int with character lvl, take ability focus(bomb) and buy an int +6 headband your DC is going to be really good.

Lvl 16, starting with 18 int.

Int: 18 + 4 lvl + 8 cognatogen + 6 headband = 36 --> +13 mod

DC = 10 + 8 (1/2 lvl) + 13 int + 2 ability focus = 33

And with different discovery you can target all saves, which makes it really strong

There are some interesting critical feat, like bleeding critical, but i don t know where i can squeeze in critical focus. Maybe extend spell...at that level an extended freedom of movement last all fighting day..

You are right regarding improved initiative, i was running out of ideas. Nice catch on the trait too.

Ain't a DC 21 fortitude at lvl 15 a bit low ?

Anyway thanks everybody for the replies.

No, i'm not taking the Skill at Arms, since i'm specializing in the Falchion later on, which i can use for free being an half-orc.

I could fit heavy armor proficiency somewhere too..

Starting with 14 cos is a good idea too

Oh boy, i mispelled that so badly, i should check what i write more..

And yes, any TWEAK is appreciated too :)

As the title says, i've got that build for a melee oriented battle oracle. I've would love to hear you out about any possibile improvement.

Half-Orc, Fate's Favored, ??? 1 trait ???

Str: 17 Dex: 10 Cos: 13 Int: 8 Wis: 12 Cha: 14

Feat & Class Abilities

lvl 1: Thougness, Revelation (Misfortune), Mystery of Battle, Dual Cursed (Deaf primary, Wolf-Scarred secondary)

lvl 2:

lvl 3: Extra Revelation (Surprising Charge), Revelation (War Sight)

lvl 4: , Stat Improvement : +1 Cos

lvl 5: Power Attack,Revelation (Battlefield Clarity 1/day)

lvl 6:

lvl 7: Skill Focus (Survival), Revelation (Weapon Mastery, Falchion),

lvl 8: Stat Improvement: +1 Str

lvl 9: Eldricht Heritage (Orc)

lvl 10:

lvl 11: Improved Eldricht Heritage (Orc), Revelation (Fortune 2/day)

lvl 12: Stat Increment: +1 Str

lvl 13: Improved Initiative, Revelation (Combat Healer 2/day)

lvl 14:

lvl 15: Quicken Spell, Revelation (Iron Skin 2/day)

lvl 16: Stat Improvement: +1 Str

lvl 17: Greater Eldricht Heritage (Orc)

Any comment is appreciated, especially on feats. Are there any better choice for replace the ledricht heritage chain?

I plan to use a Falchion and just rock with it, but maybe going with someting reach-oriented is better overall.

Best Regards

You can check this discussion:

https://paizo.com/threads/rzs2u5ef?BestStrongest-Archery-Build#1

I think it covers almost any option worth considering

If you want to step into melee you need to squeeze Weapon Finesse somewhere, otherwise yo won't be able to hit reliably.

As a ranged blaster i would go probably mono element, fire or air, but as a hydrokineticist i think that is place is in melee, with the kinetic whip chain listed above.

I ve seen the dpr calculator, nice job. I think i ll go with a dex monk in the end, or i feel that my defenses will be too low to be comfortable

Is fixed stat at 15 point, which is 15 14 13 12 10 8, which is kinda disappointing. That could be the main reason for going catfolk nimble guardian. I agree in regards to magical beast being the best choice for fight too.

I really love the style strikes of the uMonk, some are really cool/useful and overall i find it easier to build.

This might be caused by the low point buy too, since the flurry of the cMonk (and two weapon fighting in general) isn't really viable with low stats and no built-in boost to attack roll.

The sohei is surely good, as are tetori and zen archer, they just don't fit the character that i'm trying to build.

Shatter Defenses requires Dazzling Dispaly and Weapon Focus, not Cornugon Smash, unless i'm missing something...

You could pick Assassinate as a Advanced Slayer Talent, picking Ability Focus(Assassinate) and with your studied target class feature you can rise that DC to a decent level

at level 12:

10 base + 6 lvl + 3 studied target + 2 ability focus + 4 int (assuming an headband here) = 25

Feat progression for a STR based Unchained Monk:

lvl 1: Power Attack, Dodge (B)
lvl 2: Deflect Arrow (B)
lvl 3: Dragon Style
lvl 4:
lvl 5: Dragon Ferocity
lvl 6: Mobility (B)
lvl 7: Elemental Fist
lvl 8:
lvl 9: Iron Will

For a more defensive style i could trade the dragon style/elemental fist with the whole crane style line.

As dex based i could go like that, assuming i get an agile amulet of mighty fist:

lvl 1: Weapon Finesse, Dodge (b)
lvl 2: Combat Reflexes
lvl 3: Crane Style
lvl 4:
lvl 5: Crane Wing
lvl 6: Mobility(B)
lvl 7: Crane Riposte
lvl 8:
lvl 9: Iron Will

For a dex based monk i'm considering the jabbing style chain for more offensive power, is it any good? I've got the flying kick ability ro reliably get that flurry attack going.

Any thoughts?

Thank you all guys.

@zza ni: it looks really strong, act as a scout as a tiny cat(easy to go unnoticed, who doesn't love a cat?) and fight like a tiger. Really cool and the flat stat boost will really help my low point buy.

@VRMH: with your combo I don't really get the feel that i'm looking for, but the Sensei is a really cool archetype nonetheless: maybe i could take it with the Hungry Ghost suggested below.

@avr: I don't think that a mount fit my concept, sadly. For a more "martial" feeling is the Martial Artist archetype any good?
The unchained monk is....Woah. Amazing. Really a power up imho. I'll look into it in the detail. do you suggest a dex or str focused build?

Again, thank you for your replies :)

For the jade regent adventure, in order to let us know more about the story, our GM has created some secondary quest for us player, where we are members of a ninja clan.

We was given the choice of ninja or monk classes and since i'm already playing a ninja i was looking for something a bit different, ence the monk class.

3rd party stuff is not allowed, unchained and archetype are OK, multiclassing is not (well i guess a monk/ninja multiclass could be ok)

As the title says, i've got to build a level 9 monk as a backup character.

I'm looking for some fun combos/general ideas to work on at this level, since i'm totally new to the class.

thank you in advance guys!

The anger focus is still interesting, free power attack and +2 str are good at lvl 1, the aura at lvl 7 is basically +4 melee attack rolls.

The 12 lvl ability is meh, but wail of the banshee, while not having a super stronk dc can be hilarious.

Thank you everybody for your opinions.

I guess that a regular arcane bloodline bloodrager is still the strongest choice afterall...

Still a lot of the abilities improve a phantom slam attack, which i suppose you don't get with this archetype, so those are basically useless.

Moreover, there isn't the "Pride" emotional focus in the list at the start of the archetype description, which was by far the most op i could find.

The "Hatred" focus is really good too, nice potential here.

The point now is : do I get a slam attack?

An ability like this, how does it work?

"Powerful Strike (Ex)
A phantom with this focus deals more damage with its slam attacks. It deals slam damage as a creature one size category larger than its current size.

The phantom also gains Power Attack as a bonus feat."

Good evening,
i'm here asking for some explanation, since i'm not an expert about occult classes.

To me it's not clear what i get from this archetype, and i would love some more details/simple example.

Let's say tht I select the Anger emotional focus, what abilities do i get?

Thank you in advance.

Wall of Thorns is the same level and is overall a better spell imho. Unless you are fighting a lot of shadows

Invisible ninja bump

He can't dip in paladin, barbarian and paladins doesn't have alignment compatibility.

However the rage prophet looks interesting, your party lacks divine magic and it will help with that

For Holy Vindicator going for only 8 lvls might be better. The main feature to me are the vindicator shield and the maximazed srlf healing, and a better ac.

The rage prophet instead has far better saves, much better hp and spell's DC .

In any case i plan to take the prestigious spellcaster feat to mitigate the loss of the caster lvlv

So, I'm an oracle with the life mistery and some yolo melee tendency.

Knowing that, what is the most fun/best of those 2 prestige classes?

i can tell that Holy Vindicator might be a bit tankier, while Rage Prophet is a barbarian with some magic but i would like to hear your opinions on those 2 classes.

Good morning guys.

Let's say that i build a Life Oracle with WMC Cavalier Order of the Stars.

The channel ability of the oracle says:

"Channel (Su): You can channel positive energy like a cleric, using your oracle level as your effective cleric level when determining the amount of damage healed (or caused to undead) and the DC. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 1 + your Charisma modifier."

The 2nd lvl order ability of the cavalier says:
"Calling (Ex)
At 2nd level, the cavalier can make a short prayer as a standard action, filling him with confidence in his abilities. At any point in the next minute, he can receive a competence bonus on an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check equal to his Charisma modifier. He must declare that he is using this bonus before the roll is made. He can use this ability up to four times per day, once for each type of check or roll. In addition, the cavalier adds 1/2 his cavalier level to any levels of paladin or cleric he might possess for the purposes of determining the effects of channel energy or lay on hands. "

And finally the VMC says:
"Order Ability: At 7th level, he gains the 2nd-level ability of his chosen order, treating his character level as his effective cavalier level."

The question is, does the abilities of the cavalier stack with oracle level when the determining the amount of heal of my channel ability?

For example:
Channel: lvl 20 oracle = lvl 20 cleric
lvl 20 effective cavalier = lvl 10 cleric
Total : 30 effective cleric lvl --> 15d6 channel?

didn't know of the equipment trick or the motivating display feat, really interesting.

Avr you right, i should focus more on the use magic device skill.

Good morning folks,
that's the build that i've got til now. I'm currently lvl 11 and the AP is going to end at lvl 15.

Any help/suggestion on the feat to take lvl 12-15 will be really appreciated.

Feat:
1)Improved Unarmed Strike, Skill Focus(Intimidate)
2)Weapon Focus (Rapier), Evasion
3)Dazzling Display(Rapier)
4)Two Weapon Fighting,
5)Snake Style
6)Skill Focus(Sense Motive)
7)Iron Will
8)Dishearthening Display, Skill Focus (Bluff),
9)Great Fortitude
10)Stalker Talent (Cunning Feint)
11)Extra Rogue Talent(Skill Mastery)

Skill's unlock:
1)Intimidate
3)Diplomacy
5)Sense Motive
7)Bluff
9)Perception
11)Acrobatics

maybe Weapon Snatcher + skill's unlock (sleight of hand) ? or some spell like abilities with major magic?

As a Fighter:

L1: Point Blank Shot
(Human)L1: Precise Shot
(Fighter) L1: Rapid Shot
L2: Weapon Focus (Composite Longbow)
L3: Deadly Aim
L4: Weapon Specialization (Longbow)
L6: Many shot
L7: Clustered Shot
L8: Greater Weapon Focus (Longbow)
L9: Iron Will
L10: Point Blank Master
L11: Improved Precise Shot
L12: Greater Weapon Specialization (Longbow)
L13: Improved Iron Will

In a feat starved class there isn't place for Snap Shot. There wasn't space even when it threatened 15 ft, now is almost useless.

Moving Clustered Shot at lvl 7 and taking Iron Will and Improved Iron Will will be my choice probably.

As a non human ranger:
L1 : Point Blank Shot
L2 : Precise Shot
L3 : Rapid Shot
L5 : Deadly Aim
L6 : Improved Precise Shot
L7 : Manyshot
L9 : Weapon Focus
L10: Point Blank Master
L11: Clustered Shot

You can delay Deadly Aim further and take Weapon Focus at lvl 5 but there isn't really many options...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Fighter : 10 bab + 6 dex + 4 WT + 1 bow + 1 WF + 1 GWF + 1 PBS - 3 DA -2 RS = + 19/ + 19 / + 14

Warpriest: 7 bab + 6 dex + 4 WT + 1 bow + 1 WF + 1 GWF + 1 PBS - 2DA -2 RS + 3 Divine = + 20 / + 20 / + 15

Fighter: 1d8 + 2 STR + 4 WT + 1 PBS + 6 DA + 2 WS + 1 bow = 1d8 + 16

Warpriest: 1d8 + 2 STR + 4 WT + 1 PBS + 4 DA + 2 WS + 1 bow + 3 Divine = 1d8 + 17

Those are the numbers breaked down

I really love some of the abilities of Advanced Armor Training too, like Armor Specialization and Adaptable Training. Moreover I think that being able to move at full speed in heavy armor and upgrading the DEX cap and armor check penalty are useful things for every fighter, even more for a high dex character.

In addition to what Claxon said, there is Versatile Training and Focused Weapon too, which let you use warpriest sacred weapon dice. It opens some fun combo, like grabbing a wand of gravity bow and use vital strike to throw lamp pole instead of arrows...

I would switch Clustered Shot with Snap Shot.

You can't get Improved Precise Shot early as a fighter.

I don't like the Archer archetype, I would probably go with Vanilla.

The problem with the inquisitor is the lack of bonus feat. You feat progression is going to be something like this:

1. PBS, PS
3. Rapid Shot
5. Deadly Aim
7. ???? you don't qualify for Manyshot or Clustered Shot
9. Manyshot
11. Clustered Shot

With a dip of 3 lvl into Unchained Zen Archer you could get 2 bonus feat of your choice, full bab, 1 more attack round when full attacking(doesn't stack with manyshot and rapidshot), wisdom to ac, wisdon to hit, fast movement 10 ft, Weapon Focus(a bow of your choice), Point Blank Master, Perfect Strike with bows, Improved Unarmed Strike.

As avr says, it's a tough choice too, you delay your class abilities progression.

Have you ever considered a 3 lvl multiclass into zen archer monk?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hulk: Mutagen Fighter with VMC Barbarian. If you can fit an eldricht heritage Orc for MOOOOOOOAT STRENGHT all the better :D

Thor: AAsimar Air Kineticist basically gives the control over the thunder. It works for a less hammer more thunder concept.

Spider Man:Beastmorph Alchemist. With mutagen you can choose some ability from the ones listed on the Beast Shape Spell, namely a climb speed, blindsense ecc ecc

There is a FAQ on the arcane trickster page that states that you can apply sneak attack damage to magic missile, but only to ONE missile of your choice.

I think that for a dedicated archer there are a bit more than Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot and Deadly Aim.

You really need Rapid Shot, Manyshot and Clustered Shot, with the later one being mandatory in high level play, when monster start stacking DR.

Point Blank Master and Improved Precise Shot are really useful too, but i take them only if I have feat to spare.

Let's say that you can upgrade 6-8 times the arcanotoxin, which one would you guys pick?

For my games 29 DC at level 7 is totally broken and my GM would ban me/kill me right away XD

Nonetheless, a lot of great tips/inspiration in this topic, thank you

Another problem is that mundane discoveries for mundane poison doesn't work with the arcanotoxin, it is clearly stated in the Arcanotoxin section.

So sticky poison, celestial poison and the like won't work.

I think it can work better as a Toxicant-Vivisectionist, way less action economy problems and all the poison discoveries work with the toxicant poison

As the title say, is it viable in a mildly optimized party?

Personally i would go with a 1 lvl dip in Unarmed Fighter: it gives you Improved Unarmed Strike and Dragon Style as bonus feat.

I don't get why i can't use gather power to reduce the cost of kinetic healer.

that's probably because my english is not that good...

Unfortunately the rest of the party has asked me to provide some kind of healing, since in the last 2 Adventure i didn't i've agreed.

So i saw the kinetic healer and similar wild talents, any opinion about that? If they would make at least a decent off-combat healing (and to me they look more than enough) it would be ok.

Moreover, any thoughts about the kinetic chirurgeon archetype? Is it any good?

I don't want to paladin, not really my playstyle.

I think that burning infusion+ searing flame is enough for fire resistance.

For spell resistance with some trait and human i'll start with +4 at least at lvl 1.

Plus i'm working with my gm to build some mythic rule for kineticist that let me bypass fire immunity/resistance with mythic power, so i think i should be fine.

Thank you all for your comments.

1)Didn't know about the Mythic Mania,i'll surely look into it with my GM.

2)The Idea of purging Demons with flame it's really appealing. I don't think that a water-based PC fits me at all, while surely being more powerful. Maybe i can convince myself to not go pure fire but something like fire/earth/fire, so i can get my hand on some physical blast.

3)Didn't really though about ranged and melee: can't i just pick up kinetic blade and weapon finesse to be able to defend myself in melee while taking point blank shot and precise shot to be able to do both if needed?

4)About the mythic support for kineticist: isn't Wraith of the Righteous a relatively "easy" campaing from what i read on the internet? Or should i be afraid that i won't be contributing enough?

Good morning,

as the title states, we are about to start Wrath of th Righteous and I'm gonna play a Kineticist.

I would love to play a fire based killing machine, but i'm afraid that high level bosses would have fire immunity on a daily basis. Same point in regard of "Thor" kineticist, with main focus air/lighting.

So what element should i go for in order to fulfill a DPS role in the group? That's my main concern right now.

Thank you all for your help.

for more lightinng and less hammer, a kineticist could do the work too
