"Excellent. Welcome, Camlo." Alwyn puts down his sword and starts pulling off his leather armour. "Hudak, can you help me put on some real mail?"
It's time to change into my platemail. With a bit of help, it akes 5 minutes, leaving us with 25 minutes left of electro-protection against further lizard encounters.
"And are there any more of these things around?" Alwyn kicks a lizard carcass over towards the halfling in the barrel.
Alwyn's a lanky, absurdly tall Shoanti with long scraggly hair and a bushy beard. He lugs around a massive greatsword and is currently dressed in leather armour. A holy symbol of Gorum hangs around his neck.
Does evasion work if you are stuck inside a barrel?
What? I can't hide in the barrel?
Of course you can. I just thought it would be hard to twist out of the way of a bolt of lightning if you're confined inside the cramped space of a barrel.

Sorry, thought I mentioned it before but it looks like I didn't - the lizards haven't moved yet as it is a surprise round. So anyone not surprised gets a whack in. For the 5' step - yeah, go on.
Alwyn steps forward, intent on chopping up one of the annoying lizards.
5' step to B6 before attacking the lizard in C5. Attack roll 14+8-2(power attack)=AC 20, damage 8+5+6(power attack)=19. Also, if the other guy tries to run, I now get an AoO.
Alwyn drinks his potion once we get underneath the waterfall - I don't want to waste the effect if we get spotted by ogres before we get there I'm conflicted about my armour - leather or plate?
I love it! We waste the mooks at the gate, then animate them and send them off into the compound to cause mayhem while we run into the tunnels and hit the remainders from the rear (weren't there some secret doors from there into the main fortress?). Let's do it!
"You're probably right. But we need to snak in - we cannot face 10-12 ogres at once, much less the entire garrison. Do we have any magics that'll let us sneak up there without being spotted?"
"That's what I was thinking. We wipe out a foraging party and then the guys sent out to look for the missing hunters. The rangers said there were about 40 ogres in there- if we could rub out 10-12 or so before they realise something's wrong, I'd say we're doing fairly well. After that, they'll hunker down inside, and we'll sneak in through the back door, taking advantage of those secret doors the rangers mentioned."
"Every ogre we kill out here is one less we'll have to fight in there. If they go for patrols at all, of course. The dumb bastards probably just sit in there picking their noses and scuffling over food."
You're right - the lizards are in another set of tunnels behind the waterfall. In that case, we keep the potions and save them in case we stumble into the zappers.
Mmmmm... Bread and smoked fish.... Um, ah, the plan! Here's my plan: We stash the horses in the forest and sneak up to the ridge on foot to take a look at the fort and the ogres. Once we establish some kind of guard pattern, we glug our recently bought potions of resist energy (electricity), cast the Fly spells and stealthily fly up to the aerie. Once there, Alwyn and Hudak lead the way, hacking up electro-lizards and securing the area. After that, we make our way down the tunnel and start killing ogres, trying to surprise them and wipe them out in small groups or singly. If necessary, we fall back into the tunnels. An alternative could be to trigger an alarm of sorts and then dump Fireballs and missile fire on them as they assemble in he courtyard - the aerie is a great position for that sort of thing. We need to establish if they know about the tunnel first, though.
"And your magic, of course. Sorry 'bout that." Alwyn turns to Hudak. "You survived having that cursed spider pump a gallon of poison into you. I'd say that's pretty magical."
So our plan is to cast Fly off scrolls and then quietly make our way to the aerie? I like that - it has a James Bond-ish feel to it. Perhaps some magicks that will shield us from the electro-lizards would be in order as well?
you spellcasters need any cash for scrolls, let me know.
Same for me. Alwyn can't scribe scrolls... I might buy a scroll or two at the local temple, but feel free to take all my money if it'll get you anywhere.

These sell for a total of 8020/2=4010 gp, plus, from the Salad of doom: 210gp, 452sp, 108cp
Of this, each of us get 853 gold, 3 silver and 2 copper. Don't spend it all at once!
"Certainly. Magnimar charged us with aiding the fort, and that's what we'll do. It also sounds like we will be given an opportunity to show the giants the might of Gorum. Now, how many ogres would you say there were? Do they have competent leadership?"
It's a one-shot item that acts like Augment Summoning - i.e. it gives your summoned monsters +2 STR and CON and is consumed when you cast the spell. I don't think Vethran can cast summoning spells, so that leaves Elisile and Alwyn as potential users.

I'll do a final distribution after we get back to Turtleback Ferry.
"Light it up. The house, the barn and the dead ogres. Normally I'd leave the bodies for the crows, but it would do the carrion birds a disservice tis time. Just be careful not to set the whole forest ablaze."
Alwyn staggers back to his feet, bending over to avoid knocking his head on the ceiling. "Let's keep moving to get the most benefits out of our spells."
On my turn, I use my unfilled 3rd level spell slot to cast CSW on myself, regaining 21 hit points.
Just to be clear, you are not enlarged yet. Illes is casting it now from the wand. 27 was still correct though as you had 22 and Inspire Courage was +5
But I'll be Enlarged once it's my turn again, right?
I'm trying to break free from the Evil Carnivorous Salad. The math is in a couple of the above posts, but with the bardic music and the Enlarge spell, I end up with a Combat Maneuver check of 27.
