Fair warning to you all, invisible castle has taken a dislike to me and is cursing me with single figure rolls.

Cord needs to have some gun training before he kills some one with a misplaced shot, I use critical miss rules in my games, I would probably of shot myself or one of the other party members by now.

Invisible Castle must hate him.

Has anyone seen either version of REC?

I am still checking every day.

I am being rather rubbish at keeping up with the pace of the posting, I will give myself a C- and must try harder. I post and when I come back there are another half dozen posts. I am loving how fast this gets updated, it is a credit to all of you.

I am also struggling to find a personality for Kajetan apart from Quite Book Worm. Any suggestions on quirks?

Glad to have you back mate.

I might actually get on to DMtools sometime this week to say hi.

What sort of stupid idiot of a player, writes in his own reason for his character to have to go to the most dangerous part of the city? Me! that is who!

This is going to end like a Romero film....

Is it too late to hide behind and scream for my mommy?

Cord asks Mike if he is OK to hold the stairs while he heads off to the kitchen in search of food and bottled water.

Happy New Year to you all.

I am back off my travels and I can see I have a lot of catching up to do. I will get back up to speed tomorrow morning and get a post in.

I hope you all had a cracking Christmas.

I hope you all had a great Christmas, I am back now, so I can get posting again.

I hope everyone had a great Chrimbo and Santa brought you all you wanted.
I am back now and will try and catch up and get a post first thing tomorrow.

I think I mentioned it earlier, but this is my last day for 8 days as well.

So have a great Christmas and Ten Foot will catch up with you all in a week.

I wanted to give you a lot of advanced warning, I am away on holiday for 8 days starting the 19th December, I am also away for a few days at new year.

We go to a small cottage on the side of a hill at the base of some mountains, there was never any internet there last few times I went, so I doubt it will have it this time.

^^^^I go tomorrow morning, have a great Christmas and I will see you all in a weeks time.

I am away from the morning of the 19th for 8 days, so the same applies to Ardanto.

I am looking forward to it, such a shame I am away from the 19th.
Is it worth me holding off introducing him until I return so that you do not have to DM him for the eight days I am away?

Seeker:
Am I correct in assuming that the crossbows we have got are Light Crossbows with the repeater attachment?
Do the clips hold 5 or 10 shots each?

Finn, did you take one of the rooftop assassins crossbows, I have 2 written down, but I will remove one if you have taken it.

I don't read other peoples spoilers, so the halfling is in a Vat? I did warn him that I thought it was a bad idea.

I loved Mysterious Cities Of Gold, brilliant.

Sorry to disagree Flash, but I would interpret it as you are a 6th level Caster.

The "Spells per Day" description states:
Spells per Day: At the indicated levels, a dragon disciple gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in an arcane spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming a dragon disciple, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

So you only improve as a spell caster at the levels that have that Class Feature listed.

I am up to speed now, character will be done by tomorrow.

Should I be worried that my guy is missing :-)

My congratulations to your wife.

Good to see you back Seeker, now all we need to do is find Kayos.

DM:

Spoiler:
4. You can re-arrange his stats as you wish OR re-roll them (4d6 drop the lowest, 6 times, arranged as desired). However, for consistency I would prefer that re-assigned stats are somewhere in the ball-park of existing stats, say within 2-3 points if possible. Eg, you can assign better stats to Int and Con, but don’t suddenly make Charisma a dump stat, it’s part of Kajetan’s established personality.
I thought about re-rolling his abilities, but I ended up with a dire result, highest stat was a 15, then it was 2 12's, so I could not preserve the high Charisma and cast spells above level 2.
So if it is ok with you, I will keep the origional rolls and just swap Charisma and Intelligence over.

6. Kajetan is actually carrying around both those spell books. If you come across somewhere in the thread where I’ve listed the spells in the books, make a note of it; otherwise I’ll look it up and let you know. Assume that Kajetan has had the time and resources to scribe two spells from those books (as well as the spells he would get to start and for level increases). I found the goblin book on page 60, third of the way down in a spoiler, I have yet to find the other book listed.

7. As Kajetan has not so far had a familiar, I don’t want him to suddenly have one – BUT, he could gain one during the course of the game if you want (subject to the normal rules for gaining a familiar). Or if you prefer you can swap out this class feature for something else (Immediate Magic from PHB2 for example) – your call. I have not got PHB2, but I hear it is a great book, I will probably go for the ability to have a familiar, Nicoli (sp?) could possibly teach me? Unless I find some other swap out that leaps out at me as suitable.

Finally, I think going as a Specialist in divination suits his character, and I take evocation as the opposed school will stop him ever being able to blast the enemy, so he will have to think his way around encounters.

I should be up to speed soon, I am on page 62 now.

You just gained 1 point of hardcore.

=D

It's gonna be fun with a 10 month old and a 2 year 10 month old too!

You Crazy Fool!

I'm going with the outlaws, I mean In Laws, so that should be fun. At least I have all the comforts of home and some extras like geothermal heating.

Only today and tomorrow left at work before I break up, yippee!

I am happy to let you choose first, so if you want Nicholai I will gladly take Kajetan.

Considering I am the sort of guy who has to squeeze his Christmas presents to guess what they are, those spoiler tags drive me bonkers! Must resist urge to click on them....

Couple of things I have noticed so far with Kajetan:

1)He has a fey bloodline, I found out what that was from Crystal Keep, you need to be a spontaneous caster of Arcane spells, obviously I can't have that if I am a Wizard. Does this impact on the plot line?? Can I replace it with something from the PHB, see point 2 as well.

2) He has two bonus feats listed, Fey Bloodline and Skill Focus Knowledge Arcana, these are obviously tied to his back story.

3) He has 54 skill ranks, by my calculations a human sorcerer at 3rd level should have 2(class)+1(human)+2(int) per level and 4 times that at first. So 20 at first and another 10 for his two levels. Have I lost the plot or is there another reason he has another 24?

4) Can I rearrange his Stats, I would very much like to swap Chr 17 and Int 15 around. (Normally I love Hit Points, can't get enough of them, 10 con is going to drive me potty, but that is why they call it role-play.)

5) Could I swap out the feats for something more useful in combat? No idea what, just seeing my options.

6) What ever happened to the goblin shamans book and the Jirkin the fallen wizards book? They could be used to drive his slight increase in combat effective spells, although I will probably take evocation as an opposite school.

7) No familiar? How is having a cat follow you around viewed?

Spoiler:
Raven appeals to me because of the imp turning into one, it would freak out the other players.

That is all I have found so far, up to page 52 as the shop has been busy today.

Glad to be aboard, I'll take a detailed look at Kajetan.

My initial thoughts are to change him to a Wizard specializing in an non-offensive school, that way he could learn some new spells that are slightly more offensive. That all being said I once played a Gnome Sorcerer who's most offensive spell was Glitterdust, at 13th level he was solid, so it can be done.

Quick few questions:
1) Is this all still 3.5 or has it gone Pathfinder?
2) When do you want us to get up to speed and start posting?

About the comment of reading all 70 pages, it is actually an interesting past-time, kind of like reading a novel, but it is difficult to find any that are as well written as this one.

Mothman, I am very interested in taking one of the players over and have been avidly reading the whole thread for the past few days. I have just got to chapter 2, which is the start of page 48. When I started reading I didn't realise I was in April 2007, wow this sign up has been going for ages. Full credit to you and the players for keeping it alive and so well written for so long.

I am able to post every day, in fact I tend to wear out my browser trying to poke an update on the other PBPs I am in.

My first problem is I am not going to be here for a big chunk of December, I am away from the 19th until the 27th and I am also away for New Year, this is not finalised, but is probably going to be 3-4 days maximum starting on the 29th or 30th. So basically you can scratch me out for the Christmas period.

Also, when do you guys tend to post GMT time? I am in the UK and have the browser open most days on and off from 10am to 1am, if your regular update times are different from that then you should rule me out, if they are between 10am and 6pm GMT time then I am uber active then. I'll probably be able to work out the times you are active from this post, once it starts giving an actual time and not 1 minute ago, it is 2.21am here.

I wanted to give you a lot of advanced warning, I am away on holiday for 8 days starting the 19th December, I am also away for a few days at new year.

We go to a small cottage on the side of a hill at the base of some mountains, there was never any internet there last few times I went, so I doubt it will have it this time.

OOOOO, you climbing Mt Snowdon? I wanna go! /whine

We are based 25 miles south in Barmouth, lovely view over the sea, no mobile phone reception, dodgy TV reception. Peace and quite, the only way to pick up my answer phone messages is to go to the pub, no wonder this is the 4th time we have gone.

Happy Birthday for Friday Flash.

Advanced notice, I am on holiday from the 19th of December for 8 days.

I am taking my lap top, but as I am half way up a mountain in Wales I doubt very much if it will have an internet connection.

So please feel free to DMPC me during that period.

^^^^My Brother in Law^^^^

Checking up on what all the fuss is about these PBP's that I keep waffling on about to him.

I have got as far as page 13, they have just camped for the first night, I like you DMing style a lot and am very interested in taking either of the characters (who I don't think are in the story yet unless I am being really thick).

Only 5 months worth of reading to go :-)

What name is the off topic thread for it?

Get well buddy, Ardanto will try not to kill anything while you are away.

Greenwich mean time here as I am in England

I really like the fact that the characters don't get on, it is good to see this, rather than everyone instantly being best buddies. After all this is a roleplay game, nothing like a bit of personality conflict to encourage the roleplay.

"It is best to nip these things in the bud, let's go and smash there faces in!" is Ten's idea, "before they realise we might be onto a good thing and hire some more muscle of their own." He grins and hefts his great-axe.

When in doubt, Ten Foot asks "What would the Hulk do?"

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

Sweet, sounds scary, are they common knowledge, would Ardanto know they exist or is it a secret organisation?

I am now think one of the Vanborens could be one of them, or maybe I am thinking too much.

Got to love the bickering between these characters, I can't help but think some one is going to die.

Mothman wrote:

So, over the past couple of months I’ve lost two players in my Age of Darkness pbp game. I’m looking for one or two replacement players, the catch being that I’m hoping someone will take on either one of the former PCs that are tagging along with the group, or one of the other NPC cast, rather than create an entirely new character. Either way, there would be some scope to customize the character.

Anyone interested?

I only get to play as a player on pbp, so I would gladly take one of the places if you can stomach some more of me.

I have no idea what the "inspired" are, I will have to google them.

EDIT: They are cool.

Got to hate it when some one sets the bar so high for the rest of us to propose.

Credit to him that rocks.

Computers may not be the root of all evil, but some days I'm convinced they come close.

My name is AllDMsareEVIL and I am addicted to the Gilmore Girls, my wife got me into it because of how Lorelai Gilmore does so many things that I do, she thinks I secretly write for the show.

I was clutching for names when my wife said "we have some Gilmore Girls to watch", so it seemed like a good one to go for.

All work and no play can suck, but it pays the bills.
