Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I really hate to do this now that this game started back up, but I'm going to have to take leave from PbP indefinitely. I was recently promoted, and as work is where I did most of my posting, I just don't have time any more. Not to mention, it isn't the most ethical thing to do at work anyway.

I had fun while it lasted though. I hope I'm not throwing a wrench into things by leaving. Take care everyone!

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair thinks on Senjin's question for a moment before answering. "I do think the priests of Aroden crazy. Perhaps they have grown so accustomed to the rituals and traditions of Aroden that they cannot just simply give them up. I can tell that were Milani to go the same way as Aroden, I would still continue to live her values and teachings. These priests may seem lost to the rest of us, but perhaps they are really just at home and comfortable with what they know."

I'm back!

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Sorry I've been absent as well. Work has been crazy! I'm actually going on vacation next week, so I won't be able to post at all during that time. Hopefully I'll be back and well-rested enough to jump right back in with time to create some more substantial posts.

Until then, feel free to DMPC Alistair.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I've got a few minutes, so...

Alistair greets everyone as they enter and smiles genuinely at the goodnatured and humorous teasing going on between his new companions. He agrees that The Bison would be a good moniker. It implies strength and resilience!

As the talk shifts to the gangs of Korvosa and how to deal with them, Alistair brings up his own piece of information to add to the discussion. "I overheard today that the Bastards are planning to take the old temple devoted to Aroden tonight. Pitting the gangs against each other will take some time, but we have a chance to thwart the plans of one of the gangs now. Once the Bastards hold the temple, they will be more difficult to deal with. And if they succeed, it'll only serve to frighten the citizens of Korvosa all the more."

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Just a head's up, I've been unable to catch up on my online PbPs for a little bit. Once this week is up, I should have some more time to devote to posting, but I wanted to let you know that I do not intend to disappear for good. I just have a massive deadline coming up at work and have been working even over the weekend.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair hadn't spent too much time at the tavern, choosing instead to focus on his own meeting later in the day. He would, of course, alert his new companions, Can I call them that yet?, to the actions of the Bastards of Erebus.

Alistair walks into the warehouse, dressed in his usual cloak, covering his armor and weapons. He pulls his hood off as he recognizes the individuals within. Not everyone is here yet. Or perhaps this is all who dared to come.

"I would say good day, but..." He leaves the rest of his statement unsaid and walks forward to shake arms with Senjin and Arrow, who he fought alongside and now feels a certain kinship with. Arrow, perhaps because she is wonderful shot, something Alistair has been aspiring to, and Senjin because his heritage makes him something of an outcast in Korvosa, much like the Varisian portion of Alistair's own heritage. Senjin likely spent time on the streets or in an orphanage, like Alistair as well. Just another commonality between the two of them.

I can't remember if Alistair knows anything about Senjin, but I figured he could guess that he must have grown up on the streets.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair carefully followed the tiefling to the Bailer's Retreat, a tavern he hasn't been to before. It's a rather rundown, small tavern, which usually means it is home to lowlife's and ruffians. However, the occasional hole-in-the-wall tavern can actually be a gem of a place, with good strong ale and friendly folk. Given the reason Alistair has made his way here, he expects this particular tavern to be more like the former.

As Alistair makes his way to the tavern entrance, waiting a few seconds so that he does not enter immediately behind the tiefling he has been tailing, he hears Queen Ileosa begin her speech. Alistair stops a second, to listen to the speech, hoping to find some hidden meaning in her words. As the Queen begins to speak of those who riot, his stomach sinks. Suddenly my job has become that much harder. Who would want to join my cause when there is the threat of swift retaliation and exile?

But the most intriguing piece of news is that the Queen is with child. Alistair cannot believe it. No King has produced an heir, as far as Alistair knows. Was it all coincidence? Or has the Curse really been broken? Or perhaps it is not really Eodred's child at all... Surely she wouldn't lie about being pregnant, as it would become apparent in a few short months.

As the sounds of cheering and applause fade, Alistair finally enters the tavern. He looks around to see if the tiefling is still here or has moved to some back room as well as to see if there are any other tieflings in the room. Then he heads over to the bar to order a drink and asks the tavernkeeper what he thinks of the Queen's news, hoping to determine his general attitude about the state of affairs.

Anything I can roll to see what I know about the Bastards? Alistair isn't trained in Knowledge (Local) unfortunately.

The Bastards are planning to take the temple of Aroden tonight? Alistair isn't sure what to think about this revelation. After all, he's been waiting for people to take action for quite a while now. But if it is premature, the any rebellion could be quashed instantly, demoralizing everyone else. And if they succeed, what plans do they have for the future? He mentioned "his kind." Alistair is all for equality among the minority races, but not at the expense of the freedoms of the majority.

Alistair resolves to look into this further. Perhaps I can find out more information if I follow one of them. Making his decision, he starts to follow after the Tiefling who seemed to be interested in joining the Bastards, trying to remain unseen.

Alistair is not wearing his armor at the moment.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair returned to his flat following the events after the King's death. He spent a day there letting things cool down and recovering. He wouldn't be expected to report to work until after the funeral procession, and then of course, he would have a lot of work to catch up on. Morvius is probably going to push all of his extra work on me too... During this time, he also prays to Milani.

--

Funeral Procession:

Alistair finds himself staying towards the back of the crowd where it is difficult to actually see the procession, even for one as tall as himself. Here he can focus on listening to the whispered conversations that take place. Far from the action (and more specifically, the Hellknights) is where he would most likely find people being open about their opinions. This is where he hears of the good deeds that were done by the unknown heroes, his companions.

Alistair keeps to himself, listening to the rumors floating around and keeping an eye out for anyone he would recognize, especially those he fought alongside. He is dressed in normal clothing, having left his armor and cloak behind. The only equipment he has are his dagger and his spell component pouch. Today, he is Alistair, a tax collector's assistant. For now, Amycus must be hidden until things calm down a little. But they mustn't calm down too far. The recent events, the Hellknights, all of it... This could be the spark that was needed to ignite the flames of rebellion. Korvosa is almost ready.

I've been reading too. I hope to have a post tomorrow or the day after. Work has been a little busy.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Either would be okay with me, DM. If you don't feel like going through the recruiting process, adopting a player your know is reliable wouldn't be a problem for me.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I'm not a fan of guns either... I'm more interested in swashbuckling and derring-do. You know, like swinging from ropes and such. I also don't care to play evil characters, just chaotic ones for a pirate campaign. I have two characters that I bounce back and forth between, actually. An urban barbarian and dervish dancing bard mix is the first, and a knifemaster is the other. Both would be fun, I think!

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I seem to remember wishing I could post a little more often back then. Since then most of my PbPs have died, though I just got accepted into a new Kingmaker game. I have a lot more time on my hands now, though, so I think I'll be able to keep up with it better. And I think I've gotten a little better at PbP now as well, as long as I spend time to think about what I'm going to post before posting it.

It was/is a fun story!

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I am still around! Might take a little bit to figure out my character again. I am also interested in Skull & Shackles and even have a few character ideas I've been floating around for it, if you decide to go that route.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair cringes at the sounds he hears from inside the warehouse. How could people be so cruel... Stepping up next to Elrith, Alistair nocks his own bow with an arrow and aims at the one of chuckling men. He releases shortly after Elrith and immediately replaces the arrow, ready to shoot again.

Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Alistair's skill obviously does not match up to Elrith's, as his arrow flies wide of it's target.

Unfortunately, I cannot see the map while at work. Google Docs is blocked here... I'll do my best without it until I can get home and see it there.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I'm around. I've been rather busy with my new job. We're really starting to ramp up with things to do, so I don't have nearly as much time as I used to during the day. And I come home to class, homework, a baby, and exercise, so I don't have much more time at home.

I should still be able to post periodically throughout the day, but I like to spend time on my posts if possible. Hopefully it won't be a problem.

I'm catching up now. You'll see a post from me soon.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 5 = 24

Alistair, having followed behind Luca and Senjin pipes up from the back. His hood is up, taking on the guise of Amycus once again.

"You are not slaves! But you are also not brutes or savages. Save this anger and pride for a better time. Right now it will only bring you sorrow. The Hellknights will not hesitate. The deaths will be many and brutal! Prove to them you are civilized now and their will be no bloodshed. You are not surrendering! You are not backing down! You are proving to the world that you are more civilized than the rest!"

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair, while silent during the exchange, slips out with the rest of the group. Did I really just see Blackjack with my own eyes? Blackjack has been somewhat of an inspiration for Alistair, though Alistair's own talents are quite different from Blackjack's.

Short post for now, I've been quite busy lately. Hopefully I'll have more time soon to really put more effort in.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Knowledge (Local) untrained: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Blackjack? What is he doing here? And who is he really... Can he be trusted? Alistair remains still, listening to the conversation and hoping he hasn't been seen.

Alistair quickly but carefully enters the library and moves into the shadows. He finds himself a particularly good spot to hide, in a corner where the bookshelves don't quite reach all the way to the wall and where the shadows cover him entirely. Unfortunately, his haste didn't allow him much time to get a look around the area.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

"Let's go ahead and check out the library. I don't expect it'll take us long to find out if anyone is in there." Alistair is itching to be on, but a short detour to the library shouldn't delay them for too long.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Before moving on, Alistair will pull Luca aside briefly. "Are you okay? Do you need to take a break? That cough doesn't sound too good..."

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair sees Senjin heading his way with Elrith. His eyes go wide when he sees the kind of injury The Arrow has sustained. Alistair helps Senjin lay Elrith down on the rooftop before getting to work.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

"This is only going to hurt for a second." Before Elrith can respond, Alistair pulls the bolt free. This would normally be a bad idea, but he knows that Milani will lend her aid to him once more. Alistair lays his hand over Elrith's wound. He whispers a prayer, out loud this time. "Milani, bring this woman comfort and healing, for the fight lives on in her still. May you be ever victorious."

A rose red light emanates from beneath Alistair's hand, pulsing slightly. Only seconds later, the light vanishes and Alistair removes his hand. Dried blood is all that remains of the wound.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair stayed back as the rest made their attempt at crossing the street. He would've tried to stop them, but his voice would surely have warned the Hellknights of their presence, just as much as tempting to rush across the street. Waiting in the shadows, Alistair ponders what he is to do and hoping the knights would somehow, someway be willing to show a little mercy. But in Alistair's heart, he knew they would not.

Still, as luck would have it, Alejandro, Rica, and Luca manage to bluff their way to freedom. But Senjin and Elrith are being chased, and Alistair doesn't quite know where they are. Time to find them and see if I can be of any help.

Alistair crosses the street and climbs back up to the rooftops, looking for Senjin and Elrith.

I'm back now... Looks like things took a turn for the crazy when I left! I'll be catching up today and should have a post later on or tomorrow.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

DM: I'm going to be on vacation from Thursday through Monday and will likely be unable to post. Please feel free to DMPC my character if necessary. I might be able to lurk with my phone, but definitely can't post.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

"If I were alone, I'd take the streets... But with a group this large, perhaps the Shingles is the best way to avoid trouble." Alone, he could easily navigate the streets and move through the crowds of people, but with six other people, it would be slow going and the chances of encountering trouble would be much greater. "The Shingles are confusing and can be treacherous, but not so treacherous as running into more rioters and the Hellknights."

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair, exhausted and coughing from the smoke he's inhaled, sits next to Senjin. "Are you injured? Perhaps I can help." Milani, bring this man comfort and healing, for the fight lives on in him still. May you be ever victorious. Alistair lays his hand over Senjin's wound and a faint light, the color of red roses, shines from it. Senjin's wounds close up, though the blood remains.

So far it seems as if our two ladies are going to be the most ruthless of us all! I'm loving it!

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

"We're coming. Hang in there!" Alistair helps Alejandro regain his composure. "You okay, pal? We need to hurry." Keeping his head low to the ground to avoid as much smoke as he can, Alistair presses forward in an attempt to reach the voice calling out for help. He also scans the room, looking for any signs of another collapse.. "How many of you are there? Stay low to the ground!"

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

"Alejandro, I've run up against a bit of a snag. Give a push would you?" Alistair is able grab hold of the window ledge with the help of Alejandro's push and he pulls himself in. Turning around, he offers his hand to help pull Alejandro up.

Climb for Alistair: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Climb to aid Alejandro: 1d20 ⇒ 11 (success!)

Alistair then turns back into the room, looking intently at the fire while whispering a prayer to Milani. Virtuous and Wise Milani, The Everbloom, give me the strength to pass through Flame. May you always be victorious, as the fight for justice and freedom never ceases. When the quick prayer is completed, the heat from the flames appear to lessen for Alistair. His first goal is to assess the situation, looking for a way through the flames.

Alistair uses his judgement for the day against the flames, giving him fire resistance 2.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

"I'll go with you, Alejandro. Better for you to have someone who can help." Alistair takes off his cloak and weapons, putting them on the ground near Senjin. "Watch these for me, eh?"

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Alistair will climb into the window with Alejandro, after taking off his cloak, weapons and buckler for more mobility. DM Barcas, would you allow him to use judgement for this? Technically, I think it's meant to be judgement against a person, so I understand if the answer is "no." It'd be nice to have the fire resistance 2 though :)

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair is humbled by Andrezi's acknowledgements of his words, but he is too worried about the fire now to stay and chat. "Thank you, Father. Please, see if you can find more help to stop the fire at the Jade Circle. I promise I will come find you after things die down a little." Almost as an afterthought, Alistair adds. "I have important news, Father. I think I have finally found a way to make a difference."

And with that, Alistair heads off to the Jade Circle, seeking out his companions. He finds The Arrow with her sword pointed at a man lying in the streets and Luca the Gull helping Senjin to his feet. He runs over to the beggar and Shoanti. "I've managed to stop the immediate fighting over at the Jade Circle, but I'm afraid they may start up again if things are left unchecked. This fire seems to be a more pressing matter, however. Is anyone still trapped inside?"

I was planning to go to Pantheon, yes. The Paizo downtime yesterday messed up my posting though. Of course, most of the action seems to occur overnight for me! Also, I can't view Google Docs while at work and at home I have a child to deal with, so I can't spend as much time...

Actually, scratch that, I can use my shiny new smartphone!

Alistair rushes off after Alejandro toward the Pantheon, searching for some high ground. The crowd doesn't slow him down and he makes it to the Pantheon a little before Alejandro. Not finding any easy way to gain a height advantage over the crowd, Alistair decides to just stand on his toes and yell out, hoping the majority of the crowd notices him. He also searches for any priests of Sarenrae he may have met before during his time in the orphanage.

"This is not the time! This is not the time for petty squabbling between your religions! Please, look around you! People are being hurt! They need help! Right now we need to work together to stop the pain and suffering that is occurring all across Korvosa right now! Look around! There is a building on fire over there and men and women are lying injured in the street! This fighting will only bring more grief!" Alistair hopes he can at least convince the followers of Sarenrae that they have more important things to do.

Alistair, who had been quiet, trying not to draw notice to himself from the Hellknights, rushes forward at Alejandro's call. He keeps up the guise until they are well away from the armored knights, and then relaxes a little. "It amazes me how quickly we all fell in line and took up the role given to us. If we work this well together now, imagine how effective we'll be when we get to know each other better."

Alistair still doesn't trust everyone yet, especially not the nobles in the group, but he is rather optimistic that the group's talents can finally bring out some change. He looks forward to conversing while in the comfort of safety.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I'm still sort of in-and-out with Internet for the time being. Theoretically I'll have internet in my new place sometime this evening, though, so that shouldn't last much longer. So that explains my lack of in-depth posts for the time being. Hopefully that'll start to get better now that I'm settled in my new place. I should be able to get on at least once or twice in the evening when most of the posting seems to occur.

Rica, I know how to separate player from character. If I wasn't so frazzled with the move and had a more steady internet connection, I probably would've said something to your character. It is what it is though. Should be better from here out.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair quickly removes his cloak and wraps his weapons in it, holding it in both of his arms. Hopefully this will look like I am carrying Endrin's things... Alistair's Varisian features should be more than enough to look like a manservant, Varisians being of a lower class than the nobles of the city. He is still wearing his leather armor, but a noble would allow his favorite manservant some protection in a riot such as this, especially if that noble is an Endrin.

Alistair then moves behind Alejandro slightly to his right, lowering his head to look at the street. I hope this is enough...

"Yes. That is a logical plan. South Shore it is."

Alistair follows the direction of the strange beggar, keeping an eye out for any danger along the way.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I go to sleep and suddenly things take off!

Once the threat of a skirmish passes, Alistair turns to Alejandro and the rest of the group. "You may have heard rumors of Amycus returning. Well, here I am... I'm not really the Amycus, of course, but it never hurt to let people think that. You may call me by my real name, Alistair."

Once in the alleyway, Alistair finally pulls off his cloak revealing a mostly Varisian face with the pointed chin of a Chelaxian. He also loosens his morningstar and pulls out his own longbow. Alistair walks over to The Arrow. "I look forward to seeing you in action. I've been training with this bow, but I'm sure you are a much better shot than I."

Alistair pulls his cloak back on, but this time leaves the hood down.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair keeps a close eye on Janivere, or more specifically on whom Janivere spends the most time looking at. When her eyes settle on his self, Alistair unconsciously tries lowers his head such that his hood overs his eyes more. It was an important habit he picked up and has likely saved him from being recognized in the past.

Alistair had heard of the Arrow before, during his studies at the Library. What is she doing here? She'd be a great asset to the cause. He had also heard of Alejandro Endrin. In fact, his father had built the very orphanage Alistair spent most of his young life in. The Endrin family was one of the few that Alistair had any respect for, but would Alejandro live up to his father's name? I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Alistair hadn't heard of Rica before, but any noble who shrugs off the politicking could be fine by him. I'll have to watch her closely too. Alistair also looks over the Shoanti man and the strange beggar who called himself Luca the Gull, after Janivere spends time on them as well. An odd group this.

Alistair knew firsthand from growing up on the streets that crime runs rampant throughout the city. Could targeting the criminals of the city really bring about change in the government? Could this be a new form of rebellion? Alistair thinks long and hard on this and mutters a short prayer to Milani. Yes. This is what Milani wants. This could bring about true change in a kingdom where rebellions have failed. This could be exactly what Korvosa needs. And to top it off, we eliminate criminals, threats to a new government and the people alike.

Alistair, in a move he wouldn't normally take, makes his way to the front alongside Luca the Gull and Alejandro Endrin, nodding to the both of them, but keeping the majority of his face hidden for the time being.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

I have access to the Internet until Wednesday, and then I'll be out from Thursday through Sunday when the majority of my move occurs. After that, posts should come more often from me.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair arrived at the warehouse in West Dock in time to see a few lower class citizens enter, the same types of people he has been preaching to. Wondering why these folk are here, he pulls his cloak tighter around him and heads to the entrance. Poking his head inside, he sees many people standing around waiting for... something. A quick head count turns up around one hundred people in the room. Alistair walks inside and moves to a corner near a few boxes and scans the room.

Shortly after entering the warehouse, a meeting begins and Alistair is surprised to find a group with similar motivations and goals as his own! Alistair finds himself nodding at what Arael says and is excited to see another man stand and offer himself up in service to the cause.

Alistair thinks to himself, Seems as if Milani has had a hand in bringing me here! He then climbs up a nearby sturdy crate and stands tall, leaving his cloak to cover his face. "Let it be known that I lend my aid to this cause as well. It is time for a change! Milani, The Everbloom, stands with the oppressed! You have my skills at your disposal."

It isn't long before Alistair hears someone in the crowd mention the name Amycus.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

DM Barcas, I'm going to be moving next Friday from Florida to Alabama and won't have access to the internet for some time. I'm hoping that I'll have access on weekdays, but we'll see if that's true or not. I'll try to get a good post in here or there, but it'll be fairly sporadic until I'm settled in.

Hopefully this won't be too much of a problem. Maybe it'll give you a chance to have those in the morning/mid-morning catch up without having to deal with Alistair much.

Male Human (Chelaxian/Varisian) Inquisitor (Preacher) 1

Alistair dodges in and out of crowd with ease. He has always had been good at working his way through a crowd, starting when he was an orphan on the streets. Back then it was even easier, as he could duck under legs and fit through smaller openings. Now he was forced to wind his way in between the crowd, but even this he has had experience with. This skill came in very handy when he needed to avoid guards.

Alistair took his favorite and quickest route back to his flat, climbing up onto the shingles at the last moment and climbing in through his window. If he was going to check out the warehouse, better to be prepared. Alistair puts on a set of studded leather armor that he only wears occasionally. He doesn't like to use it too much as it restricts his movements a bit. He prefers to run rather than to fight, but he bought this armor for this very purpose, a dangerous situation where anything could go wrong.

Alistair grabs his dagger and morningstar as well. The morningstar is placed in a loop at his waist and the dagger down by his ankle. He also grabs his buckler, longbow and quiver. This is more than he normally carries with him, but better to be safe than sorry. Finally, he throws his cloak over everything and puts his hood up. He does some quick work on his hair. The cloak does most of the work in disguising who he really is, but because of the longbow and quiver on his back, it doesn't do quite as good of a job as normal. The perceptive will notice the hump in his cloak, but Alistair doesn't want to wait too long to get it right.

He leaves quickly, exiting the way he came and heads straight to the warehouse district. If things go right, he'll be able to make it there shortly before the bells ring 6 hours past noon.

Since I haven't posted in a while, I suppose I should note that I'm still around. I'm just not sure how to proceed. I think I'll just wait until we get to the next portion, if that's okay. Alistair would most definitely be checking out this warehouse after he's off work.

As he and Harius watch the protestors, Alistair makes a mental note to include their actions in his next preaching opportunity. Hopefully by speaking to the issues on the minds of young adults like himself, he can bring in more people to his cause. Nothing rallies people more than praise and recognition for the things they do, especially those that are already willing to protest.

Alistair almost misses his step when Harius mentions Amycus. He knew Harius's views on politics were starkly different from his own, but he always assumed Harius didn't really pay much attention other than what he hears from his other friends. The fact that Harius knows who Amycus is bubbles up some pride in Alistair, alongside the temporary pang of frustration at Harius's ignorance.

Knowing Harius would just get defensive if he started to debate him on the topic, Alistair instead decides to see just how much Harius knows of Amycus. "Amycus? You mean Amycus Viamio? He's long dead... How would they be able to listen to him, unless you mean read about him and his views?"

As the Epochal Tower rings loudly that it is high noon, Alistair stands up and stretches. Might as well grab some lunch. Morvius is sure to be here shortly after... Alistair sticks the financial transfer for the warehouse under a few folders where it is unlikely to be found while he is out. That last thing he wants right now is to have to talk about it with Morvius.

On his way out of the office, Alistair spots Harius in the hallway. "Harius! Come join me for lunch, eh?" He walks over to Harius so that he doesn't have to shout. "Sorry for blowing you off earlier, but I really needed to get as much work done as possible. Let me make it up to you. I'll buy your lunch today!"

Harius laughs. "You'll buy my lunch for me today because you owe me from last week!"

Alistair and Harius head out to their favorite spot, a small local shop that specializes in stews. The meals are relatively inexpensive and surprisingly filling. They joke about work and women, and all around have a good time. The two are just finishing up as the hour nears its end.

Not sure how much a meal for two would be. Let me know and I'll subtract it from my total.

10,000 gold crowns? That's more than a bargain! And since when has the Bank of Abadar dealt anonymously?

Realizing Harius had asked him a question, Alistair looks up. "Oh, it was nothing. I think there's a mistake on the paperwork, which means I'll have to go through some extra effort before I can send it out. Look, Harius, I would love to talk, but I really need to finish going over this stack of papers." Alistair stands up to walk Harius from the room. "Tell you what. We can have dinner later. We'll talk then." Harius is a good friend, but he talks too much. Alistair decides to play it safe and not mention the transfer to him, at least not yet.

Once Harius has been ushered out of the room, Alistair walks back and pulls out the suspicious financial transfer. He looks it over once more and makes a mental note of where the warehouse is located. Not entirely sure why, Alistair has the urge to investigate this himself. Something tells me there's more to this than I know just yet. I better check on it before I report, lest I cross someone I shouldn't. Last thing I want to do is bring attention to myself.

Alistair gets back to work, but his mind remains on the odd transfer.

Alistair looks up from his work to see Harius standing in the doorway. He rubs his eyes for a second, trying to blink away the sleep that seems to keep coming and stands up. Stifling a yawn, Alistair walks over to Harius and clasps hands with him. "Good morning, Harius." Alistair tries to hide the irritation in his voice, but doesn't manage to do a very good job of it. "Morvius wants me to have all of these bills delivered by noon. That means I have to have each one signed and addressed within the next hour or so and out to the courier shortly after. If I don't manage to find a quick courier, I'm sure Morvius will have some words for me by the evening."

Alistair walks back to his desk, head held high despite his fatigue. "Sometimes I wish I could just walk away from this job. Imagine what Morvius would do! He'd probably explode with rage. I can see the expression on his face, his veins ready to burst! Haha! But of course, then I'd be out of a job and wouldn't be able to pay my own bills."

Still chuckling about the thought of Morvius face contorted with rage, Alistair sits down and continues his work. He looks up only to ask how Harius is doing. "What brings you here this morning?" He continues his work while he keeps the conversation with Harius going.

I've decided to swap out Skill Focus: Disguise for Diplomacy, after reading more carefully into everyone else's characters a little more. Alistair is sort of the face of a rebellion, and being a preacher is only makes sense for him to practice speeches and persuasion. Disguise is important to him, but I think Diplomacy really just fits better.
