Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Movement from G2 to I2.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

As two more rats, although larger, came through the pipe Aleksandyr groaned and stepped around Jelani. He raised his longsword again and struck down at the vermin with a look of disgust on his face. "Gross," he snarled, offended by the creatures that were dwelling in the city sewers. "I'm going to need a scrubbing after this..."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Attack, Rat in F2

The paladin lifted his longsword above his head and tried to cut at the rat again with his sword.

"What the...?" Aleksandyr paused when the rats crawled out of the drain pipes and lunged at them. Their eyes were caught in the torchlight.

Using my original post.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Draw longsword as a move action, attack Rat in F1 as a standard action.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Aleksandyr drew his longsword and took a swipe at one of the rats that lunged out at them. "Cursed vermin," he growled.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I'm fine with my positioning though I think we need a tougher PC next to Mellany.

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

"What the...?" Aleksandyr paused when the rats crawled out of the drain pipes and lunged at them. Their eyes were caught in the torchlight.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Onward ye merry men!

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Aleksandyr visibly twitches at his questionable company for some reason.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Come on," the Cheliaxian urged. "Lets be on our way before we run out of daylight. I don't want to be crawling out of a manhole after dark and end up in a seedier part of town. Or worse."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I'll let you decide, its not my place to influence such decisions.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Have any words?"

Aleksandyr questioned Gunser with a raised brow before he scoffed. "I have no words for the undead, Capt'n," the paladin replied, having become used to the honorific (as he reasoned) 'Prayerful'. "But if you're looking for some measure of redemption, may this poor soul be scorched with divine fire and eat away the corruption in its remains. In undeath this man was a perversion of the living. In life this man was an eater of the living. Burn it with fire, destroy it, and lets be on our way. There are others who need prayers, not this corpse."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

What was the name of the whore house we're staying under?

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Knowledge (religion) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

What is the most appropriate course of action? I assume burning a dead undead body is in order and being in the sewers, it won't be a bad idea overall.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Its not to say he killed every last one of them," Aleksandyr suggested. "It simply says he killed the necromancer and he was bitten while his servants crumbled to dust. Its hard to say how many servants there were in all... I just wouldn't assume they're all gone at least..."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

The paladin paled after he had read the letter and beneath the visor of his helm his brows furrowed together in concern. He turned the letter over and after he had seen that there was nothing more, he passed it on to his companions to read. There was a moment where it appeared there were actually cogs turning in his head as he looked thoughtful. "Hmm," he mused. He looked back to where they had come. "So, there is some cult of undead lurking around this city? I don't think this revelation bodes well for us."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Can I pull off some politics and try to get at least a partial blueprint of the city's sewer system? Not now of course, but later?

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

We could just acquire a map of the sewers from a government facility in charge of the city's infrastructure.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

The paladin looked up from the bottom of the bit to the top of the pit where they had entered through the trap door. When he had first descended he hadn't thought the fall was as significant as it had been. He reasoned climbing down opposed to a direct fall made quite the difference. Aleksandyr wrinkled his nose before saying, "Alright, lets see if we can find a way out of here."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"In the basement of a house in the city," Aleksandyr asked with a sound of sarcasm. "Use your head, Blast, we'd burn down the entire city block. I'm afraid we're going to have to leave them here. The best we can do for them is inform a local church or another official anonymously. We can't be seen moving them, either, but I could at least offer prayer for their remains..." With a frown he just shook his head and leaned down to watch Gunser move into the hole.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

He looked up once Gunser made his way down into the pit with him. He raised a brow with the mention of the bodies being bled dry. "Is that so? I think those are all dead but if you think vampires are the cause and not the fall they took, take a look into this hole. Maybe you could wiggle through before I attempt to get stuck...? Ever get the feeling something is on the other side?" The paladin's concerns were not misplaced as he didn't want to lose his head tryin to crawl into a serpent's hole. Someone a little more nimble was better off looking -- or smaller. He brought the torch back to illuminate the hole for Gunser.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Come down here, I've found something," Aleksandyr called up the trap door. He approached the wall and took a knee to flash the torch into the hole. He narrowed his eyes and peered inside. "Be warned there are many poor souls resting down here..."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

"By the Inheritor's mercy!" Aleksandyr exclaimed with a look of shock on his face. He stood there as he moved to avoid the remains of since dead men and women who had taken a long fall. He waved the torch to light up the area...

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Shall we draw straws...?"

Aleksandyr chuckled as he drew attention to the rungs that led down into the trap hole. He waved the torch over the hole a few more times before he stood and then climbed down into the hole while holding the torch into one hand. He looked down and said, "Keep an eye open and be ready..."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Hearts and minds...

Aleksandyr and someone else can work on that front snce he makes a good face for the party.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Why does the Paladin inside of me want to kick down the front door...? Lol

Tactically, we need to find the back door or draw them out to fight on our terms. I can't say Aleksandyr would agree with burning their building down... But something along those lines.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Aleksandyr produced an ever burning torch from his pack and walked over to the trap hole. He took a knee and held the torch over the hole and peered down into it. He didn't think it went down so far as to the sewers, however.

What about....

Amazing Initiative (Ex): You gain a bonus equal to twice your Mythic Tier on your initiative. In addition, a number times per day equal to your Mythic Tier, you may spend 1 point of Mythic Power to go again in the initiative order at half your rolled initiative.

My reason why I suggest the above is that being able to go twice is a very attractive ability for me both as a player and GM, but more so as a GM. Being able to get an extra attack routine out for Mythic Monsters is important to me, because it really lets those monsters feel terrifying and powerful, without having huge numbers. The +20 to initiative has always bugged me because you move from something like +6 to +26 at the drop of a hat. I like seeing the bonus grow organically as the player grows in power. It also limits how often the Mythic creature can take advantage of going twice, forcing him or her to really make a choice as whether or not those goblins are worth it.

I like this one (even more than mine). Retains the original flavor and awesome while limiting the spam.

I'll likely keep cycle cycle through some of these options as I run my campaign with the mythic playtest. (Get to start on Monday, yay!)

I like this one too.

I think this is reasonable. While a Mythic character is likely only to get +2 to initiative at Mythic 2, faster characters and monsters still get to shine. Just because Mythic characters are awesome doesn't mean they get to steamroll adventures. They were still often prone to mistakes and failures and an enemy could get a hand up over them.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Okay, what should we do now?

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

So, where exactly is everyone?

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Huh.

Didn't see that.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Shouldn't be a problem.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I've healed more enemies than allies so far... Hopefully Lay on Hands fixes broken bones but I want to put a nail in the coffin of this section of the story.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"You speak fair enough, Gunser, and for that I will concede to your wisdom. No armor but a sword and the coin for a horse so that he may flee. Very well," Aleksandyr spoke, nodding his head slowly. He approached the man and took a knee. While their captain had taken the liberty to break his leg, he would right the injury with a prayer and a divine glow that radiated from his gauntlets as he applied them to his leg. The energy would knit the flesh and bone and make it easier for him to flee the city. "Go now, leave us." Afterwards he looked to the other two present.

Detect Evil: On the other two NPCs

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"His heart is not tainted black," Aleksandyr commented after a moment. He sensed no evil within the man's soul, no doubt just a lesser man of a greater man. He nodded and stood, his gaze shifted to Gunser. "He shall live... But I still believe he needs no arms or armor to begin a new, simple life."

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Aleksandyr disagrees with giving him anything but a single gold coin to get himself out of the city. I'm casting Detect Evil...

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

"Thanks, mate," Aleksandyr offered the old salt for preventing him from taking a wayward fall. With the sailor's assistance he righted himself and looked to the half-elf unconscious on the floor from where he had to throw him. He was sure the man would have rather been on the floor than in the hole but he still felt foolish for taking the plunge in the first place. He observed the negotiation and quirked his mouth. He shook his head and removed his helm as he took a knee down beside the fallen half-elf.

"Nay," Aleksandyr spoke. "He should not be given arm or armor less we risk betrayal from a man who has already wronged us. What is to say he will just take that gold and see to paying a gang of ruffians to threaten our lives? Give him but a gold to his name and see he leaves the city without word to a soul less the mercy of Iomedae be lifted from her servant's hamd."

The paladin spoke with an irritated conviction with a burning light in his eyes. It was like the flicker of a match but a simple blink and it was gone. He wrapped a gauntlet clad hand around a holy symbol hanging around his neck and prayed. "May the Inheritor judge your soul worthy of her mercy..."

Detect Evil

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Btw, I think Aleks still had to make the Acrobatics roll. I'm not sure, though.

Edit: Anyone mind if I take the Glaive? Was it claimed? I could use a polearm.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

So, Arkwright, considering using the Mythic Adventures playtest with this campaign? Sounds like a good fit if I may say so myself!

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Acrobatics 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (4) - 5 = -1

45+ posts in one night to catch up on... I think this won't be necessary... I really need mithril armor, heh.

Aleksandyr attempted to carry the half-elf through the threshold of the tiefling couple's home. He had been distracted considering their encounter with the Hellknights and how earlier he had stopped Jelani from killing the man slung across his shoulder. His mind was elsewhere, quiet as he followed his companions as internal strife was evident amongst them.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Sorry for the drama. Aleksandyr will carry the half-elf.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Aleksandyr will prevent you from killing the half-elf. He didn't heal any allies because they were not on the ground dying. Aleksandyr is compassionate and a healer of the sick before he's a zealous fist of Iomedae. I understand IC decisions but if allowed, Aleksandyr can and will prevent a Coup de Grace on a helpless enemy.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

But the guy in full plate didn't get tangled, Lol

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Aleks is playing healer but if any of them tries to bolt, he'll stop them if capable. Redemption is a path everyone must walk for their transgressions. And our sailor will get an earful for his methods soon enough... Hooray paladins! ...?

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

As long as we are off of initiative...

After Aleksandyr saw to it that the half-elf's bleeding could be stopped he looked around for another poor soul to save. By the will of the Inheritor the half-elf would survive. "See to it that someone watches him," he told whomever would listen as he stood. He noticed one of the guards was still breathing so he moved to his body. He took a knee again and placed his hands to the guard's wounds as a divine light came from his gauntlets, its warmth washing over the man's injuries.

"Once again I beseech you for strength and mercy..."

Lay on Hands 1d6 ⇒ 5

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I find spells to be better for higher level encounters. At lower levels, melee provides enough of a challenge.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

The paladin surveyed the battlefield in the wake of the encounter with his sword and shield held firmly in hand. The rider appeared to offer parlay and the growth that rose up amongst the cobblestones of the street still offered a hindrance. Aleksandyr slung his shield across his back and tossed his cloak back over it before he sheathed his sword. He moved over to the bleeding man and took a knee. He opened the visor on his hand and placed his gauntlets to the half-elf's wounds. "Inheritor, give me strength and show this soul mercy," he prayed as his hands glowed with a divine light.

Lay on Hands 1d6 ⇒ 1

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I'd like to stay. We're all mature, understanding players with a GM who is willing to work with us.

Edit: Not much mercy was shown this day. Lay on Hands for 1 on the half-elf.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

I'm tired this morning. Watching WWE RAW live is bad for early work mornings...

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Is there any way Aleks could have intercepted the attack? For the past two rounds, all he has done was move and I may have overlooked the charming to have our bard murdered.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

So, can Aleksandyr intercept some murdering...? I'll admit, the battlefield feels convoluted.

Male Human (Cheliaxian) Paladin 2

Reflex Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

As the grass sprung up with ensnaring roots, the paladin managed to avoid becoming rooted in place. He trudged through the thick undergrowth conjured around them and it hampered as he tried to move after the fleeing conjurer. "Curses," Aleksandyr growled as he realized he would be unable to catch up with them.

Double move to S21.
