Init: 15 + 1 = 16 for me.

Aldren nods in appreciation to the warforged and quickly downs the vial of antitoxin he was given. It would not do to succumb to the vile poisons of these creatures at such a critical moment. He steadies his shield, readies his pick, and waits for the moment to charge.

Antitoxin gives +5 vs. poisons for an hour, bringing my total Fort save against poisons up to a ridiculous +14.

"Aldren, do you think you could take that Dracotaur thing in a fight? With the primitive culture the lizardfolk usually have, they might respect us if you challenge it to a duel."

"Well," the sentinel began, "knowing nothing of the creature's abilities or prowess, I can't say for certain if I could best it in combat. I do feel confident, however, that I could remain locked in battle with it long enough for the rest of you to gain a tactical advantage over the others. Assuming, of course, that they're willing to permit the challenge in the first place."

(Male Human Knight 5)

After Hathir's perturbed expression regarding himself and the warforged, Aldren speaks:

"I am afraid that stealth is not one of my strong suits. However, my armor allows me enough movement that I will not be slowing us down any. Once we are at the entrance, I can hold off any attackers that might try to follow us in until we can get to a doorway or something."

(Male Human Knight 5)

Aldren takes in the scene, scanning the landscape for any more of the lizardfolk lurking about.

Spot: 17 + 0 = 17

Finally, he nods towards the huts and smoke. "What do you make of this?" he asks no one in particular.

Aldren scans the surroundings and, seeing no other immediate threats, nods the all clear to his companions.

When healing arrives, Aldren directs Shinus to the wizard first.

"These quarrels are only flesh wounds. I've had worse."

Mender wrote:
Anyone else want the antitoxin? Mender has absolutely no use for it.

Aldren will take a vial too, just in case his obscene Fort save isn't good enough.

"The assignment seems direct enough. We shall do our best," Aldren bows respectfully to the gnome, glancing towards the door as Hathir leaves. With a sigh and a nod, he follows suit.

Mender wrote:
"Does everyone else accept?"

Aldren simply nods.

The Deneith guardsman quirked a brow at the elf's outburst. "I think you're overreacting, sir. The gnome may not be marked, but that doesn't mean anything. Many of my own house members, including some of the most esteemed guardsmen and soldiers that I know, are not marked. As for the 'forged," Aldren's gaze turned to regard the living construct. "We cannot judge him simply because of his nature. The 'forged have proven themselves capable and able-bodied individuals ever since the Last War. There is no reason to believe that this one will be any different."

Seeing the situation well in-hand, Aldren scans the surroundings for signs of any further threats, keeping his shield high and standing near the mage.

Full defensive again. Scanning for any other threats.

The lizardfolk grunts in pain as the bolt pierces his burned flesh. He looks about ready to fall over as he draws arrows from his quiver and fires two shots in rapid succession. One arrow flies through the undergrowth and strikes Mender, while the other flies into the air towards Shinus but plunges into a tree limb in the jungle canopy instead.

Mender takes 2 damage.

Now comes Shinus and Hathir's turn :)

I presume that they succeeded against my Knight's Challenge, then? Or were they out of range?

(Male Human Knight 5)

Seeing his allies having everything well in-hand, Aldren digs in, watching for any other incoming attacks.

Full defensive. AC is now 24. I will direct my Shield Block at the archer that Shinus is fire blasting, making my AC vs. him 25.

(Male Human Knight 5)

The defender grunts as the arrow strikes him, but shrugs off the pain and focuses on providing a distraction for his allies.

Fort save: 12 + 7 = 19

(Male Human Knight 5)

Save vs. poison: 9 + 7 = 16

Aldren winces from the hit, keeping his head low and his shield high as the wizard's spell enlarges him. While he would be an easier target now, that was preferable to the Deneith guardsman than having his companions be the target of their arrows. Seeing the wizard already in pain, Aldren's Dragonmark flares to life as he activates it's ability on him before stepping closer to the arrow fire. With his increased size, his voice booms like a thunderbolt as he steps forward:

"How dare you attack the charges of House Deneith! Stand forward and face me, you cowards!"

Activating my Dragonmark on Hathir (shield other), stepping 5 feet closer to the source of the arrow fire, and using my knight's challenge as a swift action: Test of Mettle. The Will save DC is 15 if they are within 100 feet of me and have an intelligence of at least 5 as well as a CR no less than 2 lower than my level. If they fail, they can only attack me. Then, for my move action, I will use partial defense (+2 AC).

(Male Human Knight 5)

Init: 12 + 1 = 13

"Ambush! Stay together!" The defender calls out as he raises his shield against the incoming attacks.

Aldren would've been at the front of the group, slashing through foliage with his axe. He's still got it in his hand right now. Which direction did the arrows come from? Directly ahead or from one of the sides?

(Male Human Knight 5)

Leading the way, the armored guard slashes his way through the dense foliage with his axe, whistling a slight tune to himself under his breath and keeping his shield at hand in case of ambush.

Spot: 20 + 0 = 20 (Nat 20!)

Also, a request: The Knight class gives me Mounted Combat at 2nd level, but this character possesses no ranks in Ride nor do I have any intention of being much of a mounted warrior. I see this character as more of a stalwart defender instead of a champion-of-the-tournament-style "knight." Any chance I can swap that feat out for some other basic feat like Combat Reflexes or Improved Initiative?
Sure, I would allow that :)

Sweet! Combat Reflexes it is!

Okay, if I can take the Dragonmark as my 'background' feat, I'll do that. The character isn't going to be much for damage output, but he'll be mobile and able to defend the people who are dishing out lots of damage. I chose a heavy pick as my main weapon because, one-handed weapons don't do much damage anyway but, when I crit, a x4 weapon will certainly make people notice. :)

I will go ahead and ditch my Dragonmark in favor of Active Shield Defense.

Sheet updated. I can still be from House Deneith without a Dragonmark, right?

My character is ready. The character sheet is in the profile of this alias. Let me know if you see any problems. I decided to make him LG. Not quite a paladin, but damn close. He's got a lot of honor, but he's a little more willing to associate with 'devious' individuals than a paladin would be.

I rolled amazing on my HP, too. :D

Although, now that I think about it, I could just have you guys post your character stats to your alias profile, if you wouldn't mind? I'll show you...

This is one of my play-by-post characters. If you'll click the character's name, it will show you his profile. You can edit your own alias profile by clicking your alias name and then clicking 'Edit My Profile.' I'd prefer you stick to the profile format that I've used for this character. It makes it easy.

If you guys can find the time to put all your character info on your profiles, then that'll take a load off of me and allow me to get the plotline designed and throw an opening post up here for your viewing pleasure.
