Okay.
Race half orc fated champion skald 8
Feats.:skalds vigor, point blank shot, precise shot, lingering performance ( used it so I can do people’s revolt giving the 2 front liners a +8 to strength and con)

Campaign: iron fang

Group make up: dwarf sorcerer(uses wisdom for spells), Goliath Druid, me, dwarf two weapon fighter.

First round is usually song, and good hope. Sorcerer then usually casts haste. Then fire away unless a wand or spell is needed.

Chernasardo warden may be very appropriate. We just recently slew a dragon and I have already started collecting trophies.

Weapons that matter: +1 flaming orc hornbow adaptive, bracers or greater archery

Just looking at being a little more effective in combat. I basically buff the first two or sometimes three rounds and then fire away. However I am finding it harder to connect effectively.

Looking at multiclassing my skald after 10th level.
Currently an archer, so I was looking at slayer or ranger. Any thoughts on this would be good. What else would help this guy out. Currently I am the party buffer and ranged damage dealer.

So I am wondering if a skalds raging song would affect constructs under their control. And if these constructs would also be considered allies for allowing amplified rage to work.

Thanks.

Yeah..I think I am trying to do too much. I have thought about it more and I think I will just stay ranged and have a back up just in case I need to melee.

I do not see taking percussion or wind as a versatile performance as a prerequisite for the battle song of the peoples revolt. I do however need 4 ranks in one of those to do it.

So I will probably end up going...
1. Skald vigor
3. Point blank shot
5. Precise shot
7. Lingering performance
9. Arcane strike
11. Rapid shot

Unless there is a better way...say wait until I can use the spell shadow bard to push out two performances at once.

For a switch hitting Skald I'd do arcane strike before power attack.

Thanks. I forgot about that feat.

Oops...

Yeah. I guess I would need PBS then rapid shot. I was trying to figure out how to be the most useful to this group. Looks like Archery is what I will be doing. I was kind of hoping to do a bit of melee every once in a while. Is there a way to do that? Wait till 9th and take Power Attack? Or would I be better off just sticking with Archery?

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I have posted here but I am.looking for some help.

We have a group of 4
Dwarf fighter 2 weapon
Druid giant archetype...he grows big and hits hard witha scythe....animal companion that is a raptor of some sort.
Sorcerer who is all about control
Me...half orc skald.

So I have a chance to retool my guy via a magic item, basically reset and make it what I have. I am looking at trying to fill the gaps as a skald. Is there a way to switch hit with this guy or should I just focus on range? A half orc hornbow has been wonderful so far. We recently came into contact with an item that has mighty cleave on it...should I bother?

I was looking at possibly taking the following feats to work with...
1.skalds vigor
3.Power attack
5.rapid shot
7 lingering pwrformance( needed to have raging song and song of the peoples revolt on at the same time to push amplified rage to the party.

Thanks for the help. Skald vigor is a must everything else is good for switching. I just want to try and contribute the most to the party.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the druid is going to be a Goliath Druid archetype. And the fighter is only taking enough DeX to get the feats. Like the thought about skill points. Healing seems to be our only issue but we can grab wands of cute light pretty quick. Seems like you have helped me with my dilemma. Appreciate the help. Half orc skald seems to be the winner. As to those that say play the one you haven't played before....I haven't played either class before so that was part of the dilemma. I have seen others in my groups play clerics, but never seen a skald played before so. Here goes I guess.

Simply put, we have a Druid a sorcerer and a two weapon fighter. I am at a cross roads, do I go reach cleric to support and be a second frontliner, or do I go skald and help give others more umph in combat along with anything we summon in and the druids pet. 25 point buy and the pc will be a half-orc.

Thanks for the advice in advance
Cheers

Wow! Thanks everyone. I was just expecting links to songs and poetry, but this is way better. Thanks again.

hey everyone. I am playing a bard for Hell’s rebels. I am focusing on Oratory and a bit of Singing, so I am looking for Literature to recite and songs to try and play during gaming sessions.

Thanks

Thanks for the information, I never heard of the duettist. I will look into that. I am thinking reactionary for my regular trait.
When it comes to combat it is a six man party, so we already have three melee characters. I am leaning towards reach weapons as that would be less feat intensive. I do picture him more spell oriented as I believe I am the only arcane caster. We made three characters each and rolled to see which ones we played. As of right now, there is:

1) Bard (me)
2) TWF fighter
3) Slayer
4) Hospitaler
5) Dwarf Cleric
6) Occult something...

Thanks for the tip on the human favoured class benefit a half elf could take, I thought they could only take the extra rounds of bard song.

Tentatively I have
Str. 13
Dex. 16
Con 13
Int. 14
Wis. 12
Cha 15

Hey everyone, going to be going to Kintargo for Hell”s Rebels
Going to make a Bard, I think I am leaning towards just a straight vanilla bard and using the Half-Elf race. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Looking for a good support and jack of all trades build with no dump stats.

parameters: 25pt build, need 1 campaign trait and 1 other trait.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Thanks for the advice so far. Then here is the next question. Do i go the cleave tree or an intimidating build?

Friend may be starting a new campaign of Hell's Rebels. I am leaning towards more of a beat stick type character. The idea is that of a samurai who is trying to regain his honor. Yes, I know it is unoriginal but I just want to have some fun. I have a nice backstory which doesn't really need to be mentioned.
Class options are Ranger, Samurai, or a Two Handed fighter archetype.

Musts: wielding a Nodachi, and having some out of combat purpose and durability, mostly durability. Any help is highly valued, and no I am not looking for optimization. I may ask the DM is the mount for samurai can be retooled to just be a companion.

THanks

Ascalaphus wrote:
It does. That's the whole point.

That is what i thought, but where they throw reach weapons right in the first sentence my friend is considering that it doesn't.

Thanks for the clarification

So...does this negate the cover of allies when firing into combat? I want to say yes, but like i said a friend and i differ on opinion.

Is there a clarification for this teamwork feat. It seems confusing. In the description it says that it "You anticipate your ally's ranged attacks" which makes me think archery. But in the body of the work it says that it has more to do with reach weapons.

Myself and a fellow player are having a debate about it.

Thanks.

Hey all. I have an inquisitor nd i am trying to decide on his 11th level feat. So far he is kind of jack of all trades he uses a bow and a falchion to pretty good effect. Feats so far are .....
Point blank shot
Rapid shot
Power attack
Quick draw
Combat reflexes.

Looking at either prscise shot to pick up friendly fire maneuvers or ewp fauchard.

Help please. Thanks.

thanks for the replies. So to answer some of the questions.

We are level 9. During the last session I pretty much destroyed the BBEG in one round. Yes, not unheard of, but there are six of us in the group and when one person completely destroys an encounter the rest of the group doesn't have fun.

The GM and I have come to the conclusion that archery is very very powerful in Pathfinder (no surprise there). You get all the bells and whistles of melee with virtually none of the risk. Granted there are ways to make it more difficult. This bit aside, me personally I was pigeon holed as well.

The group has the following in it
Dhamphir Monk
elven cleric of Erastil (uses a bow...sometimes)
Elven rogue/wizard
Human Wizard(air elementalist)
Assimar Paladin of Pharasma

I talked to the gm and he said that I could just switch some of the feats around so I am going to do that instead of making a completely different character. So without too much rearranging (i.e. I am not changing things that have had serious consequences in the past.) My stat array is the following (we rolled)
Str 14, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 19(was 17 but we got a campaign stat bump to either wis or cha, I chose wis.) Cha 11.

Feats
Point blank shot
Rapid Shot
Power attack (switched from Precise strike)
Extended Bane
Furious Focus (switched from Many Shot)

I am just trying to be more well rounded. Being able to do a few things well without being screwed the moment windwall goes up, or I get ganged up with fodder.

If you have any advice appreciate it. And yes I am aware that this is not optimal, as that isn't the intent.

Hi Guys.
My old character was for Carrion Crown and was a Half orc Inquisitor archer. He was a machine....so much so that he kind of made things very easy. My DM and I came to the conclusion to replace him.

I am thinking a Dwarven Inquisitor or Ranger2/Inquisitor for the rest of the game. What do you think? Is this a good idea or horrible?

Ways to make them more viable?

Thanks for the clarification.
Cheers

Just a quick double check before I decide to do this. But if you multiclass you just add all the BAB and saves together right?

So 2nd level ranger and 7th level inquisitor would be
BAB 7, Fort 8 (this seems high), Ref 5, Will 5,

Also for the following levels do I just keep adding on when they go up by one point? Just want to clarify, I am thinking yes, but sometimes what I think and what is true are two different things.

Thanks

Magic weapon and channelling positive energy. As well, there are some specifics in the module that help too. I also suggest weapon blanch if you can afford it, for those just in case moments.

We just finished the module with three archers, 2 melees and a wizard, it was the most fun I have had in a long time.

Enjoy.

Hey everyone I am currently playing an archer inquisitor for carrion crown campaign.

I am just trying to get him set up effectively. Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Str 14, dex 16, con 13, int 12, wis 17, cha 11
Feats
Rapid shot, precise shot, point blank shot

Masterwork composite bow +2 str.
Mithral dagger +1
Chain shirt masterwork
Falchion
Ring of protection+1
Cloak of resistance+1
Ring of feather fall

Various arrows including blunt and at least 20 coldiron, 20 silver and 10 adamantine blanched.

Currently have about 1200gp
There are six PCs so the wealth is speed pretty thin.
I am mostly worried about ac and damage output thanks.

So I am currently playing an inquisitor and though I love the character it almost died for good last night. So I need a back up character.

My ideas are either a tansmuter specialist or a eldritch knight/ tansmuter. We will only be going to about level 16, so which one would give me more bang for my buck in regards to versatility and melee damage potential.
Thanks

And if you have other class ideas please keep in mind that spells are definitely a must and we are really only using core and APB classes.

Hey everyone so the party is finally together
Asimar sword and board paladin
Damphir melee monk
Air elementalist
Elven cleric of Erastil
Elven bard
And me half orc inquisitor of Curchanus

That all being said I have decided to just go straight archer. Stat arrays are as follows
Str 13 dex 16 con 13 int 12 wis 17 cha 11
Str 13 dex 18 con 13 int 12 wis 15 cha 11

Dilemma is now do I take the first or second array and do I take improved initiative and have a great init right off the bat or take point blank shot as my first feat?

I keep being told wisdom is extremely important and that improved initiative is a very powerful feat due to the fact that going first opens a lot of options, lie buffing.

I don't plan on trying to harm a lot of things with my spells but who knows.

Thanks again

Okay to really pull this off all I really need for feats are
PBS, power attack, and rapid shot? Combat reflexes if I take a reach weapon.

Question on inquisitions vs domains. What are generally better if I end up not being the face, repose and zeal seem to be solid.

Thanks again

Nothing is written in stone yet, There may be another player who wants to play a bard. If that happens Pass for Human may not be necessary.

My GM is basically told us that anything that isn't human is going to be seen with some degree of distrust and hostility. NOt in all of Ustalav, but in some places they are very xenophobic. Half-elves also have a sometimes been accused of being vampire kin, and fey are very suspicious. Half-orcs are tolerated, but in many places they are targeted outright, just because of the fact that Orcs helped keep the whispering tyrant on his throne. Will it be necessary no, will it help yes.

Without pass for human I will have a +4 to disguise and though a 10 is all that is necessary to fool most common folk and being a foot soldier to Pharasma I will have certain leverage and freedoms.

How would a spear be more effective than a Falchion? AoOs?
Thanks again.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I will swap the stats s suggested and I will be taking the favoured class bonus for lore and intimidate. However does blistering invective and intimidate work well on undead?

Since this is taking place in Ustalav and I have been warned repeatedly that half orcs aren't liked and usually lynched on site, I have taken pass for human as my first level feat.

3rd level will be power attack, followed by intimidating prowess and cornugon smash.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I am going to focus mainly on melee with an okay archery skill. I am going to be the party sneak and face so I am taking the heretic archetype with the conversion domain.

I will take half-orc and use a falchion. We also have a monk and a paladin so we will have melee pretty much tied up. I am guessing the other members are going to be casters.

Stats array
Str 15, dex 16, con 13, int 12, wis 15, cha 11

Any suggestions on first level feats? Improved initiative? Judgement surge?

Thanks again guys I really appreciate the advice.

Hey everyone

Needed some help with an inquisitor I have decided to make for carrion crown. I would like to be sneaky and relatively versatile (possible switch hitter). Half orc or dwarf or something else is okay too. No small races.

Stats were rolled. 11, 13,13,15,16,12

Thanks in advance

Okay. Mso far there will be an Aasimar paladin, a human monk, and most likely a wizard or sorcerer. There will also be two others that are undecided. If I go bard it will be archaeologist for the rogue style, and if I go inquisitor it will be for the heretic archetype with the conversion inquisition. I want to be sneaky and potentially the party face. Probably half orc.

I am looking for versatility in regards to adapting to most situations and helping fellow adventurers out.

Specifically carrion Crown.

Hey everyone. Just a quick question. Who do you think has the most versatile spell list the Bard or the Inquisitor.

Thanks in advance.

Need some help making a party face. Two Avenues of thought Bard Archaeologist archetype, or an inquisitor Heretic archetype with conversion inquisition.

Background is that this is for carrion crown. Stealth is a must, would disable device be all that important? We don't have a trap disabler. Also is use magic device useful in this adventure path?

Thanks for the input.

Hey everyone. I am dming a group through Crimson Throne AP. I am just wondering about playing the casters in this AP especially the ones near the end in the last module. How many spells can they cast in a round? How would their familiars fit into combat etc...

I don't play full casters so I find suddenly playing 12th level characters a bit daunting. I could fudge my way through it but I think my players deserve a better encounter than that.

Thanks in advance

Just finished reading up on the investigator, specifically the empiricist. Is it just me or does it seem to be in competition with the bard archaeologist archetype? As well, if you had to chose which is better which one would it be and why?

I understand this might be the wrong board so feel free to redirect it.

I just finished DMing a group through a history of ashes, and one of the PCs is an ape shaman. He really wants to have the red reaver as a companion. Is this possible? Or just asking for trouble? Would there be a way to accommodate it? Thanks

If I can make it finesse I will. Because the dex will work into the stealth. Two weapon if possible, unless switch hitting is best.

Two short swords or a falchion/great sword/nodachi

Thanks. Lots to think about. The idea of sneaking around like a ninja is great, I might have been convinced of being an inquisitor of pharasma. Though how would I go about getting weapon proficiencies? Feats? Also does the repose domain sound like a solid option?

So, what I am gathering is that the ninja may just not be great for this ap. What class then would work? Bard archaeologist? Magus? Or as the previous post has mentioned an inquisitor? I am not against a cleric I just want to be more mobile than the characters I usually play. A monk?

Any class except a paladin I am up for, just high mobility, stealth/scouting and trap finding/disarming are key.

Ah...yeah I hate having to dump my save stats. So 9 would probably go into intelligence as it wouldn't be as important as a good will save. We usually get two traits a piece. I am also looking at taking sacred tatoo alternate racial trait.

As far as undead, I take the attitude that most has to do with preparation, and expecting the worst case scenario.

Rolled stats....17,13,16,9,12,13.....hope that helps

Okay, to answer some of the questions.
I am looking for advice on optimising a ninja for this for this AP. I know there will be a lot of undead, but I thought as long as they aren't incorporeal they can still be sneak attacked.
Also any advice you can give on the ap without spoilers is greatly appreciated.

I usually play cleric and paladins so something different would be nice, even if it makes things difficult as that just adds to the experience.

Thanks again.

Hey ladies and gents. I just got word that I will be getting to play in a carrion crown campaign. I usually play tanks (I.e.clerics and paladins). I know they would be great for this campaign but to like to challenge myself. Since I have never seen a ninja played I would like to play one.

So......half-orc ninja. We roll stats, so I don't have any right now. However, I was leaning towards a strength build. Any opinions and thoughts on this are greatly welcomed. Is this a good idea? How can I make it work?

Thanks

Thanks for all the advice. Our group just sticks to paizo material for simplicity sake. So, druid eh? Well now the question do we go in for archetypes or just a straight druid? What companion choice is best or do I need one? I know tiger and bear are pretty good, but could a boar work?

Hello ladies and gents

Just need some advice on how to build a new character. Basic idea is that they are a half-orc who chooses to transform into animals and other creatures to destroy his enemies. Now I am not sure what would be better. Being a druid who transforms and has a companion to assist them, or a transmuter wizard or a sorcerer.

Thanks in advance
