About Aikuchi

The art and craft of gaming worlds, characters and concepts were part and parcel what role-playing games had meant to me. The tales weaved from them were a reminder of the magic of unpredictability and wonder of stories from fantasy / science fiction books I read in school. Genre's that weren't popular by any means among the reading masses of schools in South East Asia. That is, even within the small readership of readers in my school.

But the illustrations, oh the art -were by far what drew me in. The covers and captured imaginations on print painted a world beyond words from the page. When discovering what I considered then "Ar-pee-gee" before being reprimanded and corrected by older players in derision and laughter, new possibilities opened up.

Flash forward: I've had wonderful experiences in gaming but as life is apt to do, gaming friends move on with their lives, the asian mentality of family, job security and other mundane material obligations began to settle in ... I began to lose a little faith in RPGs. As more acquaintances and friends turn to PC/Console RPG's, there are rarely topic introductions at the mention of RPGs that doesn't have the assumption its NOT on a machine.

I'm feeling nostalgic.
I've tried PBEM's but have found none to last but still looking.

Remind me of the wonders because I still think somewhere underbeath the mountain of rubbles of reality, there's a little boy who dreams of his bare chested bearing knight-sorcerer to fight off the demons of his dreams to save the day.
