Escaping the Grave

For this round, let's go with Tarafi and Trildyn going to the southern rooms and Salliss, Pip, and Tarbh heading to the north. We can rearrange in the next one if you'd prefer a different configuration. I've put in a route for the Tarafi/Trildyn group, so feel free to alter based on where you'd like to go.

Escaping the Grave

The enraged Tarbh charges forward, but in his haste, he misses the beast.

Salliss stares hard at the horse, a faint memory of past knowledge learned, but the memory fails to come to him. He steps up toward the nearest building, providing tactical position against the horse, and jabs with his rapier, stabbing the horse pointedly. Hit!

The scared Tarafi staggers back, the projectiles of pure energy rocketing from his hands and hitting the terrifying monster squarely in its sides. The horse snorts angrily as the missiles strike true.

Trildyn, noticing Salliss's strategic positioning, moves to flank the horse and swings down as if bringing hammer to anvil, bashing the creature's exposed skull with a massive blow. Crit!

Pip strikes inspiration in the hearts of her allies! She thinks hard, but in the heat of battle can't recall anything she knew of these creatures. With a swift drawing and releasing arrow to bowstring, her shot connects. Hit!

The zombies lumber from town, arms outstretched toward warm, living flesh and mouths agape, emitting unholy moans. One closes on Salliss and lashes out with its rotting arm!

Fist Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Salliss just barely ducks out of the way as the disease-ridden appendage cuts the air above his head. The horse turns in anger toward the primary source of its near destruction, Trildyn, and kicks at her with its back hoof!

Hoof Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

But it misses by a wide margin to Trildyn's right! It kicks at Trildyn with its other back hoof!

Hoof Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

And it misses by the same margin, this time on Trildyn's left!

As a side note, this adventure features some undead stuff (surprise!) and references to wounds and the like. I'll keep descriptions on the tame side, but if at any point if I cross the line on grossness and I need to tone it down, please let me know, either here or through PM. I'd be happy to adjust as needed.

Escaping the Grave

Pip's impeccable knowledge of terrain allows her to puzzle out a clever, hard-to-spot path weaving up the slope. She and Salliss, Trildyn, and Tarbh crest the hill, the trio following Pip's advice and effortlessly pulling the barrister up and over the crags and crests.

In the meanwhile, Tarafi the grouch sets out following the well-trod path snaking its way along the bases of the hills. He tries to maintain his composure, but his ill-advised pace and the heat and humidity get the best of him.

As Pip, Salliss, Trildyn, and Tarbh effortlessly descend the hill, they spot a ragged Tarafi splayed on the ground, tie askew and suit soaked in sweat.

Tarafi, you are now fatigued! You take a –1 penalty to AC and saves, and you cannot Hustle again. You can still attempt the other checks, though.

After some consoling and pep talk, the group gets going again. Passing through the remains of Lastwall, you spot vignettes of past lives: lonely cottages dark and overgrown, fields withered and barren, abandoned wagons devoid of possessions.

You cross a wide field, with low hills cresting to the south. All of a sudden, from the northeast, you spot a procession of what seems to be soldiers, at least two hundred strong, ragged banners fluttering in the wind and the clanking of loosely held metal weapons against bare bone. The undead troop hasn't noticed you yet, but their trajectory indicates they will soon!

If you'd like to try to sneak past the troop, you can try to skirt them through the hills by succeeding at a DC 15 Stealth check. A setup PC can try to cause a diversion by succeeding at a DC 17 Deception check. If you want to try another plan, let me know, and everyone but Tarafi can Hustle, if you'd like.

Beefcake Quinn smiles at the equally beefy Kahru, then turns his heavily muscled attention to Lake at Dawn.

"I understand your past with Oiur. Although your methods may be different, your intentions are identical: to do what is best for your people." Stitches in Quinn's coat rip, ripping a small hole along a sleeve seam. "This mistake is the Society's and the Society's alone. However, many enemies have lurked in these lands, and we Pathfinders would like to prove that we are not another in the line of these foes."

Quinn pores over his memories, recalling information on the Shoanti's relationships with outsiders and weaving in that information into his speech, noting boundaries to be respected and customs to be honored.

Drats! I'm not cut out to deal with this one... but I can't back down now! She'll surely see that as a sign of weakness.

"Well, Payah Against the Wind, we aim to solve this matter with our strength. The strength of our minds. The strength of our hearts. The strength of our muscles! All of these strengths are necessary to fix what has been broken, to right what was wronged. I know that you value these strengths, and we wish to prove to you that we Pathfinders can use these strengths for good!"

Quinn gestures toward his companions to draw the payah's gaze, while his left reaches into a coat pocket and fishes out an innocuous-looking vial, popping off its stopper as he draws it.

"I see you are impressed by my comrades, and impressive they are. But I am also strong. I may seem only a mere humble investigator..." He does a twirl, quickly downing his bull's strength extract. "...but there's more to me than meets the eye!" Quinn winks, then flexes desperately, sweat beads pouring down his face and neck and pooling where his coat collar meets skin. His muscles swell as the extract courses through his blood, causing them to strain and stretch his coat.

Quinn laughs as the curious owlbear snuffles around his coat pockets, jostling quills, extracts, and various tools as she investigates the investigator. "Greetings be to you, Kahru. Unfortunately, I don't have any food on my person! Sorry to be of little use to you, Nokka."

A human man strides through the doorway. His sharp, gold coat bears all manner of accoutrements, and he idly twirls a black cane with a silver handle. With steely eyes, he observes the occupants of the room, thoughtfully nodding and muttering to himself as he pans from person to owlbear to person. He smiles. "Greetings, fellow adventurers! It is I, Quinn, investigator at law. The pleasure is all mine."

He turns to Nokka. "After my most thorough investigation and subsequent analysis, I conclude that YOU..." Quinn points dramatically at the owlbear, "...are ADORABLE!"

Zal catches a glimpse of Zoomy bouncing up and down as it excitedly spectates the race, but remembering the mission, he refocuses on the task at hand. Using the remote, he attempts to swing his energy weapon to try to hit Ratrod at point-blank range.

Just to verify, is it four actions per PC?

Zaldekan's eyes light up at the sight of the junkracer, eager to tinker with the vehicle.

Computers to upgrade Laboni's racer: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Zal attempts to reprogram the junkracer's computer to make it more efficient, but this is an unfamiliar system to him, so he can't quite figure it out. Humiliated, he walks away from the vehicle, head drooping in shame.

A shiver runs down Zaldekan's spine at the sight of the grub-noodles, but he manages to hide his apprehension.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Zigvigix. I am honored to be part of your prestigious faction, and I look forward to serving under your leadership in defending the Society and this system."

Zaldekan gladly accepts rice candy from Zigvigix and "hears" the shirren's description of the first assignment.

"Understood. Have you determined what species of creature is residing in the warehouse?

Zaldekan nods after Zigvigix responds. He then takes a look around at the bustling commotion in the surrounding area.

"This is not exactly where I imagined I would find the Exo-Guardians headquarters. What has prompted the relocation to this sector of Absalom Station?"

After receiving an answer and listening to Zigvigix's responses to the rest of the team, Zaldekan listens as the shirren explains the second assignment. Upon mention of Strawberry Machine Cake, Zal's head perks up.

"Oh!—" Zal clears his throat. "I mean... uh... Affirmative! We will carry out this task to the best of our ability!"

Upon hearing the mention of Strawberry Machine Cake, Zoomy chirps happily. It extends its arms and pushes a button on Zaldekan's armor's comm unit. Heavy guitar chords blare for a brief second before Zal hastily pushes the button again, silencing the comm unit. XD

Zal shoots Zoomy a dirty look before turning back to Zigvigix. "Uh, my apologies! Is there a store nearby where we can purchase the album?"

Zoomy greets the new friend with a ":D", trying its best to keep up with the creature as it runs around the room.

Zaldekan turns an even deeper shade of blue when he sees the friendly nuar. We're not at home, Zal. Keep it together. The vesk sighs and accepts the chair, resqueezing into the seat and appearing relatively relaxed. "Thank you, Tuudahk Gihn, Defender of Common Courtesy. I deeply apologize for my overzealous formality."

Zaldekan watches as the nuar leans in toward the drone. "That is..." the vesk blushes yet again. "Z-00 Model Y."

Upon hearing this, the drone angles toward Zaldekan, a ">:(" displaying on its viewscreen and on Zaldekan's glass lens. "I mean Zoomy! The drone's name is Zoomy!" Zaldekan's face is deep blue.

A hulking dark-green vesk is crammed in a too-small chair, trying his best to maintain some semblance of good posture. Normally stoic, he looks somewhat amused and embarrassed as his drone speeds haphazardly around the room. Using a retractable glass lens covering his right eye, he follows along with the drone’s reactions to the waiting room’s occupants and decor.

A small, silver drone flies quickly through the waiting room on four hoverjets, emitting happy-sounding beeps and chirps. The drone examines each person and object for a second before eagerly flitting to the next, occasionally bobbing or spinning as it goes. A simple black viewscreen on the drone’s front facing is currently displaying a light-blue emoticon indicating the drone's enthusiasm.
