Spell-Like Ability: A dhampir can use detect undead three times per day as a spell-like ability. The caster level for this ability equals the dhampir's class level.

Resist Level Drain (Ex): A dhampir takes no penalties from energy draining effects, though he can still be killed if he accrues more negative levels then he has Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a dhampir takes are removed without the need for an additional saving throw.


Class traits:
At 1st level, a winter witch gains endure elements as a constant spell-like ability, but only against cold temperatures. At 4th level, she gains cold resistance 5, making her comfortable in near-freezing temperatures. At 9th-level, this increases to cold resistance 10, and at 14th level, it becomes immunity to cold.

Hexes:
Frozen Caress (Su) Whenever the winter witch casts a touch spell, she can infuse the magic with cold as a swift action. This grants the spell the cold descriptor, and adds 1d4 points of cold damage to the spell’s effect. If the touch spell allows a saving throw, a successful save negates this additional cold damage.

Feral Speech (Su): This hex grants the witch the ability to speak with and understand the response of any animal as if using speak with animals, though each time she uses the hex, she must decide to communicate with either amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, or reptiles, and can only speak to and understand animals of that type. The witch can make herself understood as far as her voice carries. This hex does not predispose any animal so addressed toward the witch in any way. At 12th level, the witch can use this hex to communicate with vermin.

Background:
Aciera was born in a small ulfen village within the Ice Mark in the Land of Linnorm Kings. She was raised only by her mother and never knew her father. She heard the other villagers speak of her father known as the Shadow man(a vampire). When ever she asked her mother(Belende Longress) about him she would look away and change the subject. Aciera suffered many sickness in her youth, the local clerics of Torag never could help her illness. Aciera didn't mind being mostly bed ridden with sickness because of her mother's love, it help keep her warm on those cold nights. She loved all the stories her mother told her especially the one of the Hoarfrost Hag.

As the years went by Aciera's illness got a little better with her mother's care. Though soon the local livestock started dieing from a freak plague, of course the town's people blamed Aciera (aka the shadowman's spawn.) Her mother took the blame for her and they locked her up in the local temple of Torag, she was mistreated but they all claimed that they were preforming sacred rituals. After a few months of her mother being imprisoned the plague seemed to suddenly cleared up, some say they heard cackling in the wind on the ending days of the sickness. Now on her own, Aciera had a hard time just surviving day by day. She tried to go to her mother's cell as much as possible. Seeing new injuries on her mother's face and arms. Seeing that angered the girl, then that anger started building whenever she went into town the other childern started picking on her since she is smaller then normal ulfen girl. All these things started build on her and adding in that she started eating rodents in her dwelling. She finally cracked when the clerics banned her from seeing her mother anymore. She left the temple crying and ran home. She didn't know what to do without her mother's warm voice, then when she was trying to remember it a story came to mind. The Hoarfrost Hag would give her the help she needed.

The young girl took off to the wilderness of the Ice March, as she trudged through the snow she spotted a mess of eggs under a tree. Sadden that a mother lost her childern like she lost her mother. She buried the eggs and said a prayer her mother taught her. She heard a bird's cry in the distance as he finished. She moved ahead looking for the twin rocks that point to the Hag's lairs entrance. Everytime she stumbled and nearly passed out she would hear that bird's cry and a bit of food would be left out in front of her. When she walked she could see a hawk circling over her and felt protected by the creature. The little norishment helped her make it through the trip, only to fall infront of a cave and black out.

She awoke in a cavern with a old women hovering over her offering a mug filled with a warm red liquid. As she took the liguid she felt her strength return to her, wondering what this healing elixir was and gave a look of disgust that turns into a thirst for more. She pleaded with the Hag to help her free her mother from the temple and the Hoarfrost Hag agreed to help her for a price that she collect later. Aciera being very nieve accepted the unknown deal. The Hag was intrested with Aciera, sensing that she was the spawn of the shadowman and even more curious of her mother and why he was attracted to her. Though she agreed to help her free her mother, she needed Aciera to survive the trip back since she almost died getting here. So she took the intresting subject in as a apprentice, teaching her the ways of the winter witch. The witch helped her learn and embrace what she was, a Dhampir. During her training the Hag easily manipulated the young girl to start believing her ways and embrace the cold into her heart. The hawk watched over her doing this time as well and always stayed near her during Aciera's troubling times. As a few years went by Aciera figured the basics of the winter witch and was ready to travel back to town.

The Hoarfrost Hag gathered her goblin forces and they made there to the town. The villagers screamed in terror as they saw the Hag's forces charge there homes. Aciera actually smiled at seeing the people that picked on her run in fear of her and her allies. The hag let the young dhampir take a force of goblins to the temple. She let loose blasts of frost as the goblins cut open the clerics she yelled for them to bust open the door that held her mother prisoner. As the doors fall down and the dust clears Aciera sees a frail women look up at her, and then bow her head in tears. Aciera stared in shock as she realized her own mother couldn't look at what she had become under the influence of the Hag. Aciera didn't know what to do so she turned away and turns right into the Hag. The old creatures lips smacking with a greedy look in her eyes. "Time for my reward, I will be taking your mother and find out the intrest the shadowman has in her."the Hag tells her. Aciera replies "But you said you would free her?". "Free her from the human's like you said foolish child, but if you wish to set her free you have 7 years to find me something that would be worth more to me then your mother, haha. If you don't return within that time she will die." With not knowing what to do she accepted the deal, looking on to her mother who was sickly why she was stronger, the dhampir saw it was time for her to protect her mother and find this treasure for the Hag no matter where it may take her.

She has already spent a year searching for her mother, learning a lot from the real world within this time span. She has found out that her thrist for blood doesn't need to be her priority but tries not kill those when she feeds on them. She has earned her money as a scout or a hunter, with her ability to talk with her Hawk which she has named Lende. That name was one of her mother's nicknames since she learned to talk with her she found out that those were her eggs she buried and has felt a kinship with the witch and watches after her like she was one of her own. So where will her current path would take her but hopefully she will find this treasure that the Hag desires.
