Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Sorry to hear that you do not have the time, but that is why I stopped running the Temple of Elemental Evil several years ago and have gone from a high of 23 games to only 6 or so now, 3-4 that are actually active.

It has been a blast. If you should get more time, consider resurrecting this game. If you don't Aarakess is going to be stuck permanently as a dwarf, and we all know what second rate citizens dwarves are.

Doubt I will make it to Gary Con in the near future, but maybe some day in the future. Next year I am hoping to get to GenCon, but obviously a year out that is only a possibility.

Thanks for the great game. Keep us in mind if you ever decide to reboot. I have really enjoyed your DMing and style.

Had not thought about turning buzzsaw into a bird (something tells me that the badger would be rather offended by the change thought).

My plan is to hit the dragon with a misfortune. Crossing my stubby dwarves fingers that with the evil eye in place it will miss the save.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I hate it when clerics end up being mostly healing, but this enemy can shell out so much damage it might be necessary. You also have Flame Strike, which would go well with the -4 to saves I just dropped on it.

It would use several uses, but you could channel & quick channel to get Justin back up.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I thought about the polymorph, the problem is that Kithian would then be fighting with claws and teeth, and I am guessing that the dragon has pretty good DR, and we know it has high AC. I was hoping to use it on Justin as the Smite Evil would get rid of the DR.

Hoping that Justin can hold out a round with some heals. Going to try to drop Misfortune on it next round (DC23 + -4 from Evil Eye).

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess considers her options and hopes that Kithian gets some aid from the others, instead, she focuses her concentration on the dragon, making it feel doom slowly descending upon it.

Move - cackle
Standard - Evil Eye Curse - for 10 rounds, DC23 Will reduces to 1 (continued by Cackle)
--> Evil Eye = -4 to saves

Rohara or Skorhald, can you guys help Justin or get Kithian up there?

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Party on - don't blow up too much stuff over the weekend.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

You still looking for a melee type for the S&S? I have a swashbuckler, I think, that I build for another S&S that died.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess looks up at the dragon, surprised for a moment that such a creature is truly here, before realizing that this is exactly the type of dragon she has read much about.

Black dragon, acid breath, probably has a few spells that we can counter. Bad temper, likes to hurt people for fun.

As she says this, she stares at the dragon, making it realizing that perhaps this time it has chosen to fight a little more than it can chew. <-- stupid 30' limit on hexes

Aarakess moves forward, and then causes a cloud to settle over the dragon, just extending to the dragon's head.

Standard: Cast Mind Fog - DC22 Will or -10 on Will saves

Move: Move to L8

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

SR Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Hearing the pleas of the Governor-Mayor, Aarakess steps forward.
We would be honored to aid this good town that has done so much for us. Is there anything else that you could tell us to assist in eliminating this threat? Where did the dragon come from? Did it say anything?

Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27 <-- what does she know about black dragons, and this one's powers based upon the size/age?

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Ok, Aarakess will buy the Hexing Runes and upgrade her cloak. She will borrow 2,000 from Rohara if the offer is still available.Thanks.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Does anyone have any cash left over?

My thought is to buy the Hexing Runes (10000) and upgrade my cloak to +2. (3000)

Currently Aarakess has 3000 gold + the 8000 from this split. So, she would need to borrow 2000 if anyone has it.

My thought is to buff up the Misfortune Hex DC by +1, because it is so much fun making bad guys try everything twice.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Ok, not sure how much money we each have, or what people are buying, but the following two items look fun, and flavorful.

Corset of Dire Witchcraft (22,000 gp) <-- Aarakess wants this for its slimming effect, although the armor and hex bonuses are a nice bonus

Hexing Runes (10,000 gp) <-- a little boring, but buffs to hexes are always nice - landing Misfortune really helps with BBEG fights

Other possible items
- Cloak (+2 or +3)
- Handy Haversack (god only knows why I don't have one)
- Ring of Blinking (Can't hit what you can't see)
- Ring of Evasion (Aarakess really does not like getting hurt)

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

The biggest problem with Aarakess is that I have no clue what to buy even if I had the money. I suppose she should have a haversack and stuff like that. Perhaps Bracers of AC and a better Cloak of Resistance. There are a ton of cool things, there are just too many. Guess it is time to see what might be useful.

In the end, I am enjoying playing her as sort of a gritty avoid getting in trouble and help her companions keep her from getting into trouble type of character. Better that Justin and Kilthan have lots of strength and AC, to make a very bad day for anyone who might threaten her.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess shakes her head sadly at the mess.
Perhaps we could raise him? Or find a way to communicate with Eligos and Pollard to learn what happened.

After she says this, she realizes that it is likely hopeless.
We need to get to Allustan before someone else does to warn him of what we have found and to discover what else ho night know.

As she says this, even with all the bloodshed and death she has seen, Aarakess' stomach begins to turn. It is only because of her newfound dwarven constitution that she is able to hold down her breakfast.

Lets find what we need here in the city, and then get heading to see what insight Allustan might have.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

What do people have for wealth? Aarakess seems to only have around 22k. WBL for level 10 is 62k. She might have a little more in spells, but I am pretty sure it is nowhere close to 40k,

Also, any thoughts for what she should get? I have never had a character this level who was a caster, so my ideas are a little spartan for more valuable stuff.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I could use polymorph other to turn them into shrews for a while.

Aarakess is good to go.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Hearing that Pitch Blade was cheating, Aarakess looks to Kilthan and chuckles.
Cheating certainly did not help them much.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Tkaara ceases her inane cackling and looks at Kilthan and chuckles:
You don't like fighting with a half weapon? I can always turn you into a tiger or a croc or something, then you will not need a broken weapon.

She then turns to Rohara.
Don't suppose you could request of your patron to grant you the ability to fix the men's weapons. They seem to be suffering from a bit of an inferiority complex without their big dangerous tools.

I am good for paying for a few Make Whole spells, or Rohara can memorize a few tomorrow.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I have been shanghaied into starting a local game. Have not started yet, but the plan is to get 1-2 games a month going at a local gaming store. We will see how fast I can scare the other players away.

Supposedly I am going to be an official Paizo Venture Agent. Not sure what it is, but I am guessing that if I put it on my resume it will confuse the heck out of everyone.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess laughs at Skorhald's comment:
There is a reason many elves tend to have a chaotic nature, and it is not because of a hereditary inclination to telling the truth, to dwarves or anyone else.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I am down to 11 games, a few of which are straggling along at best. Really I am probably in 6 or 7 active games. I probably have 3 or 4 with active players who interact and get along as friends, not just posting.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess raises her eyebrow at Justin's comment.
Never talked to an elf about dwarves have you.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Stupid dwarves. [Refuses to look into a mirror.]

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I considered turning Kilthan into a large Lion. Figured the increase in strength + size + grab ability would negate the breaking ability of the adamantine. Really should have done it in round one. Just say so, and Aarakess will switch from debuffing to polymorphing for a round.

It would seem like playing a character whose 1st, 2nd and 3rd options are usually debuffing would be really boring, but there are so many debuff options and fun ways to do it with Aarakess, that it is a lot of fun.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Only if the GM is paying attention. I did not realize all your posts were saves.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Seeing the adamantine clad dwarf shrug off her spell, Aarakess growls at the warrior, and turns to making him doubt this abilities.

Evil Eye Hex: reduce AC by 4 for 10 rounds - DC 22 Will reduces to 1 round, but Cackle extends

Move Cackle

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Why did one of the dwarves make another save versus the Mind Fog. There is only one save, it either works or does not. If they leave the area of effect, then it lasts 2d6 more rounds. Aarakess rolled a "10" for the number or additional rounds, I did this in the initial Mind Fog post.

Round 3
Seeing the dwarves begin to have difficulty Aarakess turns her focus on the next on in the row. (She will target whichever of the two non-misfortuned of the dwarves has the least injuries.)

Move: Cackle

Standard: Misfortune Hex on the least injured dwarf - DC22 Will + -10 to the Will save from Mind Fog if it the dwarf was effected (2 of the 3 were)

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Sweet. I love Pilfering Hand, it is an awesome spell. I like to use it on clerics too cheap to buy a shield inscribed with a holy symbol.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

No problem - just had not seen any posts in the last week and were not sure if you were about.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Not sure where Rohara is. To keep moving, we can probably have her cast Prayer, with the Mind Fog and Misfortune, it should hit a lot of them and give us all +1 to most everything. The other option, that she often uses, would be Bit of Luck on Justin.

Aarakess looks to Kilthan and his damaged weapon.
Want to let your beast out?

Aarakess can Polymorph Kilthan into a big cat with Grab, or can keep hexing the heck out of them.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

All - don't forget that Haste is up for AC, attacks and extra attacks

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Seeing her companions weapons getting smashed, as was sort of expected, she calls out.
Focus on the middle one. Take them down one by one.

As she says this, she turns her focus on the dwarf before Kilthan hoping to slow him down.

Misfortune Hex on G10 - DC22 Will or must roll all d20 twice and take worse - save is at -10 from Mind Fog

She then steps slightly to the side to get more protection from her larger companions.

5-foot step to F7

Move - cackle (continues Fortune Hexes (not sure who has them) and Misfortune on G10)

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess is hiding behind the armored hulks in front of her.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

It does not block sight,so 1 is not a problem. It also does not in any way hamper or control them, it just greatly diminishes their ability to resist Will saves.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Spells/Things in effect:
- Haste - 16 rounds left
- Enlarge Person on Justin - 9 minutes left
- Fortune on everyone (if GM Blood allows) - if not Justin, Kilthan, Skorhald, me, Rohara in that order depending on how many rounds she had
- Cackle

Not pleased with the enemy being so close, Aarakess sticks with the plan and calls upon her patron to confuse the dwarves standing against them.

Keep them back, I will muddle their minds. Rohara and Skorhald, anything that effects their minds should work well.

Cast Mind Fog - DC22 Will or -10 on all Will and Wisdom checks while in fog, and for 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 rounds after leaving mind fog

Standard - Cast Mind Fog
Move - Cackle
5-foot step - move behind Rohara

Justin and Kilthan, do not step forward. Let them come to us.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I have two Freedom of Motion spells if necessary. If there are no casters, I figure that you will not need it, but it is available if needed.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess chuckles at Justin's comment.
You all will do the defeating, we will soften them up for you.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess is planning on dropping a few annoying area of effect debuffers, and then hopefully hitting them with misfortune and evil eye hexes.

Since Fortune is Su, she will drop one on Justin so that he has an escape option if he makes a critical failure.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess will cast Haste using her Rod of Extend to speed everyone up. (leaves 17 rounds, 19 if cast third).

If Justin or anyone wants, she will cast Polymorph. It makes for some nice abilities, grab/grapple, but also I think makes you lose your armor bonus (plate mail for Justin).

GM Blood - do witch hexes count as spells or effects?

She will cast Enlarge Person on Justin. <-- unless he does not want it as this only leaves on remaining spell/effect.

She will also begin cackling, and use a Fortune Hex if anyone wants one.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

We can wait long enough for you to pray and get the spells.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

My vote would be to sell the unholy club to a good temple to be destroyed. It is really hard to toss 18,000 gold away.

While Aarakess could use the belt, I agree that giving Rohara the extra hp is probably a wise choice.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

We should get a secure place to store stuff. Between Rohara and me, we can teleport back and forth to retrieve stuff.

Aarakess looks at the defeated demon before calling on her patron to allow her to see any magical auras.

Spellcraft - minimum is 21, here are a few rolls if needed.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

Nice work guys. Clearly the powers of evil have underestimated the prowess of our Paliziard and out Dwelf.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Spellcraft 1: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39
Spellcraft 2: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34

Knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31

It is an Alkilith demon. Use good weapons. Battering it is easier than cutting it. It is not effected by acid damage.

Knowing the spells that were cast, Aarakess calls on her patron to protect the group, creating a globe of pure clear spring air, with a slight tinge of some flower. Perhaps lilacs?

Standard: Aura of Purity - all within 10' are not effected by the effect of the stinking cloud (or most other gas/poison/disease effects. This should also cure any effected by the stinking cloud, not sure about the unholy aura.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess looks to Kilthan:
We can teleport back. I imagine that Rohara can preserve the corpse. I doubt we can raise it, although perhaps some day we will find the way.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21

Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

That is likely Lahaka. She was strangled as I recall and the red marks on her neck strongly infer strangulation.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Yup, finished.

FYI - I have polymorph now. Figure it could be useful on Justin - a large paladin lion with grab, or something similar is always nice.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I think I will go with Agony. Gives Aarakess a little debuff to go with her buffs. Also works with Cackle, although hitting a BBEG with misfortune and evil eye (saves) first is beneficial.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Any thoughts about my major hex? Never had to look at them before, this being my first witch.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Aarakess stands with her mouth agape.
Remind me to never annoy the Palizard.
