Compare this to the Kuo-Toa Hunter of a previous set. Bad sculpting, lacks detail, horribly painted, WotC is continueing to slide back into poor miniature quality.
This lump of plastic has to be the worst molded and worst painted D&D mini of all time...and of cource as a common you'll end up with a ton of them if you buy the random packs. I must have done 5 or 6 different repaints on this thing, and still couldn't tell if it had a tail or a giant leach sucking on its butt. It realy reminded me of the first batch of Mage Knight Orc minis.
Really, you can do this one yourself with playdough or modeling clay. A repaint the orange becoming blue, the black white makes a nice ice brute, but once again, you can make one at home for less.
The first Grick mini that came out years ago was nice, this one is flat, 2D, poorly painted and a horrible color (Unless this is a preview of 4ed, in which case it does not bode well for the game) It is like they went and filled the ols Chainmail Grick mold with plastic without blowing the dust from the shelf out of it. Once again, the poor painting in the latest set rears its head and makes this mini really blow.
Both the sculpt and the paint job on this mini are horrid. Mine has heavy seams and is smeared with glue where thay added the tail and arm. The lack of detail makes repainting this one a task. It reminds me of the early Mage Kight figures.
I liked this figure both in mold and paint job, the only thing that kept it from being a 5 is that I'll have to paint the eyes that are well molded, but not painted at all.
This is a nicemini, but waas less tree looking than I got from the picture. It kind of looks like something more fitting to ALIENS. Still a nice Huge mini. I may add some grey or green to the leaves to make it more tree-like.
Only the fact that it is labled on the bottom allowed me to tell what this mini even was. There have been so many more better molded Hobgoblin minis. This one could be any humanoid.
The Paint was at least in the lines, but looks flat and I'll definately be giving it a repaint.
I liked this mini, it was well molded, and the minimal painting was not messed up. Still, I really wish Wizards would make standard, frequently used monsters in their normal sizes. Sure they once did the standard Carrion Crawler, but it was a rair, then came the one with a saddle... Now a huge one. It is noce, but I'd really rather have one that was the standard size.
Compair to the Blood Ghost Bezerker, Bugbear Head Reaver, or Bugbear Gangleader, and you will see why I rated this mini so low. Only the very first Bugbear mini sucks more, but at least that one can be identified as a Bugbear. The paint on this one is a little better than the slop that got plastered on the Lizardfolk Raider.
This Mini like many others in this set look as if they were painted with pudding by a 4 year-old. I've really noticed a huge slip in the quality of the latest sets of D&D minis.
