A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 7th to 11th level characters (Tiers: 7–8 and 10–11).

Hundreds of years ago a once mighty fortress in Cheliax sank into the earth and was forever destroyed. You are sent there to catalog the ruins, known as the Collapsed Halls, and to find the rumored hidden tomb of an Osiriani concubine. After clearing the ruins of hideous beasts, you explore deeper into the ruins than anyone before you and uncover a malevolent intelligence that has watched Golarion for more than 5,000 years. Worse, he knows you're coming.

The Watcher of Ages is part 2 of the Echoes of the Everwar series. Parts 1, 2, and 3 can be played in any order and part 4 must be played last. Look for part 3, Pathfinder Society Scenario #43: Terror at Whistledown, in February 2010.

Written by Greg A. Vaughan

This scenario is designed for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but can easily be adapted for use with any world. This scenario is compliant with the Open Game License (OGL) and is suitable for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

It's All About the Watcher

If it wasn't for the final encounter in this scenario, it would have fallen farther on the star-o-meter. On the positive side, this is the only scenario out of the first three in this series that directly offers some insight into the background of the series without the GM having go above and beyond. Overall the encounters are simply underpowered. (when will designers learn that a horde of low CRs are not an entertaining fight for level 10 characters?) The best time in this scenario is when the PCs spend time with the Watcher. I like to collect information about the character's backgrounds at the beginning, and when they reach the end, they realize that the Watcher has seen them grow up. Great effect!

Unfortunately this is my least favorite of all 4 parts to run.

Nice epic environment

Throughout the adventure you felt surrounded by a ruined landscape. The consistency was nice and a good set up for the final eerie setting. Nice mix of combat and role playing along with the cool setting. Nice job Greg.

Well writen and interesting read.

After reading it I really like this mod. The monster choices make sense and are interesting. The environment is well described. The plot is easy to follow. The faction missions are interesting. Most of the obvious questions have been answered by the author. Last but not least this is a mod that refers to the bestiary rather than some encounter 3 or so pages ago for stat blocks. Since i can bookmark the bestiary way easier than flipping back three or more pages in a pdf (I run from a laptop) this is a big convenience issue.

I marked it down from a perfect 5 for the following reasons.

Mod plot spoiler:

1 Typo on page 7 wrong hp total at higher tier. (minor)
2 It is yet another underground fetch mod. (A very well written one. Good enough i would not have lowered it's score just for this.)
3 Cheliax and Taldor missions may cause a pvp argument due to the way they read. (It is not the first time missions seem to conflict)
4 Neither of the big maps will fit on 1 standard flip mat. If you use something bigger than it should work fine. (mostly not a big issue)
5 Part 2 of a series that is not at all dependent on part 1. (why i dinged it a point. If it wasn't part 2 I would have given it a perfect score.)
