Pathfinder Society Scenario #5: Mists of Mwangi (OGL) PDF
Paizo Publishing, LLC
Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?

The problem is that after the first really cool encounter which is when the party attacks itself it is plain.
This was the first Pathfinder Society adventure that I got to play. I found it entertaining, but I must say that we bypassed most of the adventure and made a bee line straight to the climatic encounter. As it turned out, this was the second room we cleared. We did return to finish off the rest of the museum, but the adventure had lost some of its zest, because we knew that we were mopping up. It would have been awesome if we had been wrong and walked into another exciting and gut clenching fight.
Having played and then run this multiple times I will say that this one never fails to make the players laugh. The shear amount of breakstuffness that this mod brings is a joy. Your inner 10 year old will be gleeful.
The final combat is tough and feels like a boss fight.
I was sceptical regarding this szenario - reading it made me think it could be a tad to simple - basically a fighting through a rather simple and small "dungeon" but playing it yesterday was the most fun experience we had yet with the PFS szenarios. Invoking the right mood is really simple and the encounters (combat and other) were fun to play for me as the DM and seemingly also for my players. Thumbs up!
This scenario made for a great introduction to the Pathfinder Society. I ran this for a group of brand-new 1st level characters and they had a good time. It's challenging in some parts, and very satisfying overall. The only thing I can complain about was the mist template; I feel like it should have been given a bit more information.
I've run a lot of PFS mods so far and this one remains my favorite! The climax, if done well is both a threat AND a hoot! If you plan to run it, please check out the boards for some cool ideas of how to stage the climax.
This is a beautifully designed scenario with some memorable encounters. In particular, I applaud the excellent incorporation of faction missions to drive exploration of the museum. Unfortunately, the climax has the potential to become frustrating and lose its urgency if the players take care of the obvious threat first. Regardless, it is well worth playing!
This was an awesome adventure. It included all of the elements of a fun adventure - mystery, tough fights, roleplay, and a climatic finish. The last act of the adventure freaked out the players and we almost had a TPK. They pulled it out at the last second with half of the party in negative HP. A good time!
This was an interesting adventure that was set solely in the one building. I completed it tier 1-2 and felt that it was evenly balanced and not just combat orientated. In fact, non-combat characters made this scenario a breeze and without them it would be most difficult to complete.
I love the Mwangi expanse, but this adventure is actually set in Absalom. However, it does give a bit of background on the Gorilla King of Usaro.
Its a series of 5 imaginative "set piece" combat encounters in a museum, but it would be easy enough to expand it by adding a few more empty but spooky rooms, and/or a few more haunted exhibits.
The last encounter is EL 5 (Tier 1-2), which (even allowing for the imprecise nature of the CR system) seems a bit challenging for what could be a first level party - especially if they've just fought their way through 4 previous encounters.
I will be running this as a "normal" adventure rather than a Pathfinder Society game, so I'll have to think what the consequences would be if the party decides to rest part way through.

So, is planning a game day to play this on October 4th a good idea or a bad idea? That is, how reliable is the release date for this?

Sigh. It may take a couple of minutes for all of the store applications to see it... I'll see if I can't kick it.
