Johnny Wilson Departs Paizo Publishing
Keith Strohm Joins the Team as Vice President
Johnny Wilson, former President and Group Publisher at Paizo Publishing, LLC, recently moved on from the magazine publishing company, taking his love of the written word into new arenas.
Magazine ink flows in my veins, so I'm working on some new magazine ventures in digital gaming, said Wilson. But most importantly, I'm publishing some books in the field of religion that I've been working on for years, and writing lots of short fiction for several different publications.
Wilson formed Paizo Publishing with Lisa Stevens and Vic Wertz in the summer of 2002. He, Stevens, and Wertz purchased the magazine division from Wizards of the Coast in Renton, Washington, taking over publishing DRAGON® Magazine, DUNGEON®, POLYHEDRON®, and Star Wars Insider™. Stevens and Wertz remain with Paizo.
Johnny was instrumental in the start-up of Paizo, said Stevens, CEO of the company. The imprint he made on these magazines was tremendous, and will remain with us for a long time.
After less than a year in business, Paizo Publishing launched a new tabletop gaming magazine, Undefeated, which gives extensive coverage and strategic tips on what the company calls games you can win.
I was proud of our magazine titles before we formed Paizo and I'm even prouder of them today, said Wilson. and being able to launch Undefeated was a dream come true.
Wilson, whose publishing career has spanned decades, has countless author credits to his name, in addition to magazine credentials that include Computer Gaming World and Top Deck.
We wish Johnny the best of luck in his new projects, said Stevens. although he really doesnt need it. Johnny Wilson has the talent to make all his endeavors as successful as Paizo.
Stevens recently hired Keith Strohm as Vice President of Paizo. Strohm, the former Director of Marketing at Sabertooth Games, and Vice President of the Pokemon Product Group at Wizards of the Coast, joined Paizo on November nineteenth.
Keith and I worked together on the launch of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS®, Third Edition. Its great to be working on a team with him again, said Stevens. Keiths expertise in sales and brand building will be key to expanding our magazine circulation and strategizing new avenues for growth for Paizo.
