ENnie Award for Dungeon®/Polyhedron®
Magazine chosen Best Accessory by Gaming Pros and Players
Thu, Aug 15, 2002, 12:00 PM
DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON magazine walked away from the second annual ENnie awards with the Best Aid/Accessory trophy, and recognition from players and industry professionals alike. The ENnies were held Friday August 9th at GenCon Game Fair in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
ENnie Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of d20 system game designers, writers, and artists, and are selected by gaming experts both professional and public. The award Best Aid/Accessory honors an exceptional product that contributes to better play for d20 and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS enthusiasts.
Its thrilling to accept an award that was selected by the fans. It shows us that not only are our readers keeping track of what were doing with DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON, but that they approve said Chris Thomasson, editor of DUNGEON. The ENnies are great idea for exactly that reason: they let the people who have the most at stake when they buy a new productthe gamersselect their favorites.
Thomasson and Erik Mona, editor of POLYHEDRON, accepted the ENnie representing Paizo Publishing™ LLC, the new company that recently acquired DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON, DRAGON®, and Star Wars™ Insider from Wizards of the Coast™. Although Paizo is a new company, the editorial staffs of all the publications stayed consistent through the transition.
The ENnies are truly awarded directly by gaming enthusiasts. A panel of five judges made up of industry professionals and experienced players nominate the finalists in each category, and then players vote at the EN World site (www.EnWorld.org) for their favorites. In the case of Best Aid/Accessory, the fans chose DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON from a wide array of innovative products.
With the d20 System, gamers finally can play with any genre without having to learn an entirely new system, said Mona. POLYHEDRON, with a different d20 Mini-Game in every issue, strives to push the genre envelope while focusing on new rules toys that d20 gamers can incorporate into their own games. Our ENnie for Best Aid/Accessory is a validation of that format, and its something well cherish for a long, long time.
DUNGEON plans to continue publishing the best DUNGEONS & DRAGONS adventures you can find on the market, said Thomasson. We also have loads of new plans for the magazine in the coming year, and the fans willing, well be back on that stage next year!
Formerly presented online at the EN World site, the ENnies were held live at Gen Con, the worlds largest annual gaming fair. The ENnie award ceremony will become a regular event at Gen Con from now on.
